Faith
Faith waited around after the Scooby Meeting to talk to Giles. She sent Xander on ahead... she could make it home by herself. She wasn't an invalid. She was the Slayer and could defend herself. She he P sometimes wondered if Xander remembered that she wasn't just a normal girl.
"Giles, I'm sorry if I seemed out of line at the meeting."
Giles
"Faith, you've been through more battles than any of these girls. You've finally found someone worth holding onto, and I have no problem with you doing so. I'm not your Watcher anymore Faith. Truth is, you no longer need a Watcher. But Xander does care for your, you're like a sister to him, I can see it in his eyes. And now that Buffy's gone, the girls need a leader, and you can be that. Just promise me that come August 6th, you will be underground, if it's at all possible." Giles took in a breath. "You're like a daughter to me, I don't want to lose you again."
Faith
Faith shrugged, her dark eyes filling with tears as Giles spoke to her with the fatherly compassion she had never had. She blinked them back.
"If I haven't found him, I won't be underground. I would rather die than live without him."
She paused.
"The chances are very strong that I'm gonna find him soon, unless of course he's not in Tulsa, which would make it harder but..."
Faith drew in a deep breath, wanting to tell Giles how she really felt about everything, but not finding the right words. She let out the breath quickly.
Giles
Giles enveloped her in a fatherly embrace.
"Faith, you will find him. You have two months before the bombs will fall. I think you will find him very soon, don't you worry." He kissed the top of her head. "Just don't do anything stupid. If something's happened to him, well, I know that he would want you to be safe, even if you don't feel you have the strength of heart to do it."
Faith
Tears were falling rapidly at the thought of losing Zac, and Faith swiped them anyway.
"If I don't find him, and I have to live without him, that's it. I'm done with being the Slayer. Because what's the point? I'm sick of having to keep people at arms length in case they get hurt, it's no way to live. And then I finally let someone in, and he gets taken. That's not fair."
Giles
"You'll find him, Faith, You'll find him." Giles said, holding hte girl tight in his arms.
Faith
Faith gently disentangled herself from Giles's arms and went over to the window, looking out at the darkness.
"I'm tryingto stay positive. But I know that if he's not in Tulsa... I have a small chance of ever seeing him again. I just... I just want to kill something."
Giles
"Well, there's a demon bar, similar to Willy's, about six blocks from here. Amanda can show you where it is, and you can give the demons a good thrashing." He chuckled.
Faith
Faith nodded and headed for the door.
"If I find him, Giles, screw this redemption crap. I'm going to kill her."
She turned and left, heading for home.
