Gwen
Gwen woke up, still entwined in Mordred's arms. She gently moved herself under them and out of the bed, stepping over to the window and gazing at the new day. She sighed, itching to cut her arms to shreds. Her eyes fell to her drawer, where she kept a little pen knife. Before she could stop herself, she'd walked over and pulled it out. She took her vigil by the window again and spun the knife in her hand.
Gwen lifted the knife and placed the blade against her skin on her arm. She dragged it slowly, watching as the skin split open before her eyes.
Mordred
Mordred sighed and moved into the warm spot she'd left and then his telepathy started to tic over. Vortigern...fine. Wrapped in Spike's arms. Gwen...very much not fine. He sat up still a bit sleep hazy and rubbing at his eyes with one hand. "What's the matter, love?" He looked at her and saw the blood. "Gwen!" He flew out of bed and took the knife from her. "Please, please don't do that anymore. Ya want someone to hurt, I'd far prefer ya cut me. Ah, love, why'd ya do that?" He held her hand and gazed into her eyes sadly.
Gwen
Gwen looked away, her eyes falling back down to her arm. She shrugged.
"I don't know..."
She wiped her tears away and stood up.
"How about we go for breakfast?"
Mordred
"Y'know...there are people in the mansion who are gonna be able t' smell the blood." Mordred cupped her face in his hand. "Nyx. Logan. Sabre. Spike. Dru. Maybe some of the students. I'll tend your wounds, love, but I won't help ya hide it. You should go down to the Medlab, let the doc take a look see."
Gwen
"No."
Gwen paused, realising how horrible that sounded.
"Let's just bandage them... and go eat. I don't... I don't wanna think about them at the moment."
She kissed him gently. "Please?"
Mordred
"Fine, love." Mordred bandaged her wounds carefully. He pressed a kiss to the palm of her hands when he was finished. "Done. Let's go eat."
Gwen
Gwen got dressed and waited for Mordred. When he was done they walked hand in hand to the kitchen.
"Thanks, by the way."
Mordred
Mordred blinked. Wasn't something he did to get thanked for. "Don't need no thanks, love. I wanna take care of ya. I *love* to take care of ya. I love you, ain't nuthin' gonna change that."
Gwen
Gwen kissed Mordred gently.
"I love you too."
They went into the kitchen and Gwen tried to prepare herself for seeing everyone again.
Mordred and Vortigern
"Anyone says a word, they answer to me, ya know that." He squeezed her hand in gentle reassurance. Mordred ignored everyone there and headed straight to the coffee. He wasn't really fit for conversation until he had his coffee.
"Why don't you just get an IV line?" Vortigern teased. Mordred flipped him the two finger salute as he drained the cup of hot black coffee.
"Git."
"Loner."
"Blond."
"Oh, you wound me with your words." Vortigern fluttered his eyelashes.
"Since Mam frowns on me kicking your pansy arse, it's all I *can* wound ya with." Mordred grinned at his twin. Vortigern threw one hand to his forehead in mock horror and swooned dramatically.
"Gwen! Won't ya save me from my twin?"
Gwen
Gwen giggled shyly, reached for the jug of orange juice. She poured herself a glass and sipped thoughtfully.
"Morning, Vort. And I'm not sure if you could be saved from Mordred."
Vortigern and Mordred
"Spike'll save me! Spike!!!" Vortigern skittered out of the room, a dishcloth hitting the door as he slammed it shut. Mordred snickered.
"Beware me, for I am Wolf." He sauntered over and poured out some cereal into a bowl. "Always was the biggest Maverick."
Gwen
Gwen nodded and sat down next to him. She reached for the cereal and poured some into her bowl along with the milk. She took a spoon and stuck it in the bowl, stirring it slowly.
Mordred
They ate in silence for a while, Mordred's foot just casually brushing Gwen's occasionally. "So, what do you want to do today?" He asked as he took the plates from her and went to wash them up. "I'm still off classes."
Gwen
Gwen shrugged.
"I don't know. I'm happy as long as I'm with you." And away from sharp objects, she added silently.
Mordred
"Movies? I know Dem said there was a second run theater near by," Mordred offered.
Gwen
Gwen nodded.
"Sounds good. Shall we go now? Or... well, I'd rather have a shower first."
Mordred
"Whatever you want, love." He kissed the side of her face gently. "C'mon then. I'll need a shower as well. And a shave."
Gwen
Gwen and Mardred parted ways to get ready. Gwen hopped into the shower, turning the hot water on all the way, hoping to burn the skin off her. She hopped out and dressed in faded blue jeans and an off the shoulder black sweater. She grabbed some sneakers and shoved them onto her feet, before staring into the mirror blindly and brushing her hair.
She sat alone on her bed, waiting for Mordred.
MOrdred
Mordred donned almost porngraphically tight jeans...or they would've been if he hadn't lost so much weight. He frowned, then shrugged. Gwen was back, so he'd be eating again. He'd be back to normal soon. White wifebeater and then his black leather jacker. Black cracked and battered combat boots, grab his wallet and go. He knocked on Gwen's door. "Ya ready love?"
Gwen
Gwen opened the door after some hesitation and met Mordred. She took his hand shyly and let him do the leading from now on. It was easier to not have to think.
"Yeah, I'm ready."
Mordred and Vortigern
Sensing the tenor of her mind, his plans for a casual movie and then come home felw out the window. Vort?
Yes?
Find me a nice quiet resteraunt nearby. Ask Logan and Nyx, I'm sure they know a place.
Ok. And with that, Mordred knew his twin would find the perfect place for him to treat Gwen to feeling like the princess she was.
"You look beautiful as the day I first met ya," he whispered, tracing the edge of her cheek with a fingertip. "Your eyes...so deep. I could fall forever."
Gwen
Gwen looked away shyly, blushing slightly. It felt like they had just met, that they were getting a chance to start again.
If only the last week could be erased from history, that would make life easier. It only she hadn't screwed up.
Gwen took his hand and kissed his cheek softly.
"I love you," she whispered.
Mordred
"I love you. You sure you ain't a dream? You're too pretty to be real flesh and blood. You Fey?" Mordred tilted his head slightly, small smile curving his lips. "I think you're a fairy and you're playing with this poor mortal boy."
Gwen
Gwen lay her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes for a second, happy that the haunting visions of pain had subsided for now.
"Shall we get going?"
I love you, our love is keeping me alive. She added silently.
Mordred and Nyx
"Let's." They started off, and Mordred knocked on Nyx's door.
"Whassup, wolf?" She stuck her head around the door and blinked.
"Borrow ya bike?"
"You get one scratch on my baby and you're a dead man."
"Thanks cat." Nyx tossed him the keys and they set off again. He got on, and patted the seat behind him. "Ready to fly?"
Gwen
Gwen hopped onto the bike and wrapped her arms around Mordred. They got to their destination in a relatively short amount of time.
Gwen hopped off the bike when it stopped and adjusted her sweater. She grabbed Mordred's hand as though she was scared of the crowds. And in a way, she kinda was.
Mordred
Mordred went up to the ticketseller, one arm wrapped protectively around Gwen. No one would touch Nyx's bike...mainly beacuse she had so many wards and glamours on it that if she didn't want you to, you just didn't see it. Well, you saw it, and then you got distracted. It kept her bike safe from thieves. He bought tickets and then headed over to the candy bar. "You want a drink, or popcorn, or something?"
Gwen
Gwen shook her head.
"I'm alright."
She waited to for Mordred to get what he wanted, not really noticing if he bought anything. They went into the movies and selected seats away from people. She sat down and snuggled into MOrdred's side, leaning her head on his shoulder.
MOrdred and Vortigern
Mordred supposedly watched the movie, but mostly he just watched Gwen. He ran his thumb over her shoulder in comforting circles.
Wolf?
Yeah, Vort.
Place here Nyx says is nice. Vortigern quickly filled his twin in. Apparently the owner is a mutant, so you don't have to be on gaurd all the time.
Seeing the Friends of Humanity would not be what Gwen needs. Thanks, Vortigern.
Anytime, Mordred. And his twin was gone. Soon the session was over and he took Gwen's hand and led her out of the movie theater. "Lunch now, I think. I know I'm starved, what about you?"
Gwen
Gwen had watched the movie with nothing really sinking in. Mostly she had been lost in her own thoughts. It had been hard to concentrate, partly because she didn't have the energy to focus and partly because she felt so lost inside her own mind.
"Yeah, lunch sounds good."
MOrdred and Nyx
"C'mon then." Mordred smiled slightly and kissed her gently. They got on the bike and Mordred threaded his way through the traffic, wanting to make the machine fly but restraining himself. Christ, but Nyx had a sweet bike. He pulled up at the small resteraunt and parked the bike. Italian. He hoped that would be alright. "Italian sounds fine to ya?"
Gwen
Gwen nodded.
"Anything."
She followed Mordred into the restaraunt shyly, holding his hand and avoiding eye contact with the other patrons.
Mordred
Mordred wanted his Gwen back, he did. He didn't like the way she hid herself, looked away. He wanted to watch her flirt and bounce and snap back at him. But he could wait until she healed. They sat down at the table and a waiter came to take their order, heavy shades covering his eyes.
"So, what would you like?"
"Hmm..." Mordred ran his eye down the menu. The place was small and casual, but nice. "What would you suggest?"
"The special today is our fettucini carbonara, and it's very good."
"Sounds good to me, what do you want, love?"
Gwen
"Sounds good to me too." Gwen smiled at Mordred, wondering what he was thinking.
She desperately wanted to be ok again. And she wondered if he was getting sick of her being this way. In a little while, she'd be ok again. She just needed time to get used to everything. But hopefully... they'd both had enough troubles to last a lifetime, maybe it was all over, and there'd be nothing but good times from now on.
Mordred
Mordred stroked her hand. "Whatever you want, love."
"Ok, two specials." The waiter scribbled on his pad and headed off to the kitchen. He came back in a few moments with a big basket of bread and a thing of butter. "Anything to drink while you're waiting?"
"A jug of water?"
"You got it. Shouldn't be long, we're not really busy today." With another nod and a wide smile, he headed off.
Gwen
The water was brought to them and Gwen sipped at it slowly.
"Nice place," she commented, still feeling a little afraid of the people, the movies had been alright, it had been dark, but now... in the light, around so many people. Things were easier in the dark.
MOrdred
"Yeah...asked Vort to get onto Nyx. Wanted to take you somewhere nice, like ya deserve." Mordred looked into her eyes, willing her to believe. "You deserve nothing but the best."
Gwen
Gwen nodded slowly, she looked away quickly, then let her eyes return to his. She gave a little smile, not forced this time, but genuine. Then a thought hit her... would she have to talk to Gunn? She should, something inside her told her that she owed it to everyone really... she also wanted to say thank you to Faith again. Maybe she'd make another trip to Tulsa. Just for a bit.
Mordred
Mordred smiled back happily. There she was. "I help anyway I can, you know that." He looked up as the waiter came back over and set their plates in front of them. Big heaped servings, and it smelled fantastic. They started to eat.
Gwen
Gwen stuck her fork into her food and pushed it around for a second then put it down again.
"Mordred, how would you feel if I went away for a few days. Just to Tulsa. I just wanna say thank you to Faith."
Mordred
"I hear one inkling about cutting in your mind and I'll be there before you can blink," Mordred said quietly, his eyes warning her that this was something he couldn't be budged on. "I will know, and I will come. But otherwise, sure fine. I liked Faith."
Gwen
Gwen nodded.
"I liked her too... she was... kinda like me, you know? Probably not as screwed up... but yeah."
