27 May 2003 - Learning To Ride

Taylor

Taylor bounded down the stairs, grabbed the keys for three of the dirtbikes and headed outside.

Today, he was going to teach Mouse to ride. And he'd conned Zac in to coming along, because Ike was still in England with Miette.

He hesitated, glancing at the car keys. Zac would have to drive.

He grabbed them, and headed outside to start getting the trailer onto the car. The bikes were already loaded on. They were picking Mouse up on the way.

Zac

Zac helped Taylor get the car and trailer connected.

"You ready to go?" he asked.

Taylor

Taylor raised an eyebrow at him and threw him the keys.

After quickly checking that the lights on the trailer were working, he got in the passenger's side and put on his seat belt.

"Ok, let's go," he insisted, rubbing his hands together.

He was nervous just being IN the car.

Zac

Zac grinned at his brother as he casually got into the driver's seat. He took his time putting on his beat and the keys into the ignition.

Just to be even more provoking, he slowly drove out of the driveway and onto the road.

Then he decided that the slowness was driving him, nuts, revved the engine and zoomed down the road towards Mouse's house.

Taylor

Taylor couldn't stop his hands shaking as he waited impatiently to get to Mouse's apartment.

When they finaly got there, he threw his belt off and threw the door open, glad to be out. He rushed up to the door and knocked on it.

"Mouse?!"

Mouse

"Coming!" Mouse sang out as she finished lacing up her sneakers and headed towards the door. Fafnir padded along after her and she opened the door, smiling happily. "Hey, Tay."

Taylor

Taylor leant forward and kissed her.

When it lasted long enough, they heard Zac beep the horn.

Taylor chuckled as he pulled away and let her close up.

"Ready angel?" he raised his eyebrows.

Zac

"Hey you two love birds!" Zac yelled out the window. "Are you two going to stand there all day? Or are we going to kick up some dust?"

Mouse

Mouse stuck out her tongue at Zac. "Mordez-moi. Sur l'âne. Like you have any room to talk." She headed over to the car anyway, fingers curled around Taylor's after she locked the door behind her.

I'll stay and gaurd, ok?

Sure thing, Pack.

Taylor

Taylor opened the back door for her, waited until she got in, then got into the other side with her. Closing his door, he took her hand.

"To the desert, driver," he grinned, buckling up.

He took a quick glance over his shoudler to make sure the bikes were still with them.

Zac

"I saw that look," Zac said, grinning at them through the rearview mirror.

He pulled out of the driveway and started down to the dirt bike trails. When they arrived, Zac got out of the car and started pulling the bikes off the trailer.

Mouse

Mouse got out and looked around, head high to scent the air. "Mmm. Openness. Missed this." She turned slowly, eyes slitted in blissful catlike contentment. "Went patrolling with Faith, but it's not the same, ya know? Need a hand?" She offered, face still upturned to the sky.

Taylor

"We'll be right, don't worry yourself," Taylor insisted, rolling one of the bikes down the ramp.

He set it on the ground as Zac brought the third one down. He hesitated for a moment, looking around.

"Ok, what do you say we head up that track," he pointed one out, "I think there's a few jumps there. Have you been here recently? It feels like so long since I've been out here."

Zac

"Actually I haven't been here since..." Zac considered his answer. "I dunno... I was here a couple of weeks ago. I think... But yeah, there are a few jumps over there."

Zac told hold of his motorcycle's handlebars.

"Betsy is so happy to be out of that stuff garage and into the open air."

Mouse

"You call your bike a name?" Mouse laughed slightly. "Eh, guys. So, how do I do this thing?"

Taylor

"Ok..." Taylor laid his bike down and went over to Ike's, "let me start it for you. It's automatic, so it's easy."

He got on and started it, then quickly point out the speeds, and of course, the brakes.

He held the bike for her to get on, then went and started his own.

"Zac can lead, and I'll follow you!" he yelled to her, then looked to Zac.

Zac

Zac sat on Betsy and started off. He drove down the dirt hills and headed towards the nearest jump. He sped towards it and leapt of the end to land with a satisfying bump at the end.

Mouse

"Ok." Mouse shook her head, then started off. She followed Zac's path down the hills and then trying not to think abiyt what would happen if she missed, soared off the ramp. She landed and didn't fall over. "Oh, fun! Let's do that again!"

Taylor

Taylor followed, flying over the jump.

"Pace yourself Mouse!" he called over the noise, "just have fun!"

He glanced at Zac, then continued down the track towards a more open area with a few more dirt piles they could fly over.

Zac

Zac flew over a few more jumps. He always loved the adrenaline rush that came with dirt biking.

Mouse

Mouse took Taylor's advice, just having fun. She laughed in delight as her bike hit the ground once more. "I always wanted to learn how to ride! This is way more fun then I thought it would be."

Taylor

Taylor grinned, watching as his girlfriend was having almost the time of her life.

Letting his eyesight scans the far hills, he scratched his chin thoughtfully as he came to a stop. He was sure he remembered most of the main tracks.

"I'll be back in a few," he waved to Zac, before digging up the dirt as he took off down a separate track.

He made his way toward the hills.
