13 May 2003 - Dawn escapes

Dawn and Scott

Dawn had been conscious for a day, but she had pretended to still be comatose, to keep Glory unprepared for her attack. It turns out the god didn't even have a plan this time. No plan, no misions, no nothing, except lots and lots of cobras. Finally, when Glory had fallen asleep, Dawn took her chance.

"Januzs, bind your unholy daughter, give your favored child the powers to survive," Dawn prayed. She cut her hand and dripped the blood onto Glory.

"Bind her Januzs, Bind her Dagon, hold mine victim, as in tar." Glory's eyes snapped open, but she was unable to move.

"See you later, bitca," Dawn said, and she moved as quickly as she could. She got to the corner and dialed the mansion. Scott answered.

"Hello?"

"Scott! It's me!"

"Dawn?" he practically shouted. "Dawnie, where are you?"

"I'm not exactly certain. I think I'm in downtown Manhattan, um, the corner of Central Park West and 34th street. PLEASE come and get me!"

"We'll be right there, sweetie, don't move unless you have to."

"I won't." They hung up, and Scott ran elated throug hte mansion.

"Nyx, Sabre, Spike, Dawn's okay, she just called. She's in the city, on a streetcorner, and she wants us to come and get her."

Nyx

"I can feel her. Let's go." Nyx touched the three males and lifted them all. She was going to regret this later, she knew it. But getting Dawn home safe overrode all concerns for her own wellbeing. They landed, and Sabre caught Nyx before she fell over.

"Niblet?!"

Dawn

"Scott!" She hugged her cousin. "Spike, Nyx, Sabre, praise Gd you're here, I don't know how much longer I can stay awake for," Dawn yawned. Spike picked her up, and she promptly lay her head on his shoulder and fell asleep.

Sabre and Nyx

"Let's go, lovely." Sabre nudged his sister.

"Uh huh." Nyx concentrated again, and took them back to the Mansion. Then she really did faint. Sabre caught his sister and started off to her room.

"I'll go put Nyx down for a sleep. She's been doing too much magic lately. Welcome back, Dawn."

Dawn

"I feel so weak, Daddy," she looked at Spike still hazy, calling him Daddy without even realizing it.

"Please, I just want to sleep."

Spike

Spike's non-beating heart melted. "Well, and so sleep you shall." He pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and started off to her room. Once everyone was feeling better, Glory was going down. He'd promised, he had. To protect the bit to the end of the world.

Scott

Scott clenched his fists. "That hellbitch will pay," he snarled. "She will be begging for her life by the time we are done with her."

Sabre

Sabre laid his sister on her bed, and she mumbled, curling up into a little ball and gradually flowing into her true shape. He shook his head; she must be exhausted if she gave up the human guise. He got her out of the clothes she had been wearing as a human and she curled up again, eyes firmly shut. He left quietly.

Spike gently put Dawn on her bed. He took off her shoes and then tucked her into bed. She sighed, and he smiled slightly as she fell asleep. He rose to his feet and went out the door. "Sleep well, bit."
