10 May 2003 - She loves me, she loves me not

Zac

Early that morning, Zac wasn't bothered having breakfast, so he went for a walk to avoid having to face everyone.

Faith had broken up with him. She told him he was a toy. That it was fun.

That she didn't love him.

He hadn't been so depressed in his life.

So now he was sitting on a bench at the park, staring at the ducks.

Zada

Zada had watched Zac leave the house and followed him to the park. She walked over to him and sat down.

"Hey, you look like the world's gonna end."

Zac

Zac sighed.

"It may as well for all I care."

Zada

Zada looked over at Zac, concern filling her eyes.

"Anything you wanna talk about? I'm Zada, by the way."

Zac

"Zac," Zac replied.

He sighed again.

"My girlfriend broke up with me yesterday. I loved her! I still love her. I thought... I thought she loved me too."

He chewed his lip.

"Guess it was just words..."

Zada

"Aw, Zac, if she was stupid enough to break up with you, then you're obviously better off without her."

Zada grinned inwardly and patted his hand gently.

"You're probably too good for her anyway."

Zac

"Nope. No one is too good for Faith. If anything no one is good enough."

He laughed bitterly.

"I should have known better to pursue something with someone on a pedastal that high. Heart broken, that's all I am. I should have seen it coming."

He sniffed.

"She's the most amazing woman on the face of the earth, y'know. Beautiful and smart and strong. She has it all."

Zada

Zada rubbed his back gently.

"Zac, if she's making you feel like this, she's not worth it. Don't be heartbroken, please?"

Zac

Zac shook his head.

"How can anyone not be heartbroken when someone they're in love with breaks it off?"

He sighed.

"That's nice..." he said, remarking on her rubbing his back. "A little lower... a little lower... not that low! To the right about. Ahhh... that's the spot..."

Zada

Zada kept rubbing his back and smiled sweetly.

"I think what you need is just a day of fun. Up for it?"

Zac

Zac looked at her, considering.

"Y'know what? Normally I'd say no, because, let's face it, I don't know you. You could be a psychopathic stalker for all I know."

He sighed.

"But right now, you could be plotting to kill me and I wouldn't care. What did you have in mind?"

Zada

"Well, I am a pyschopathic stalker and I am planning to kill you after today. Just so I'm up front with you. But I will give you a chance to escape. Sound fair?"

Zada smiled encouragingly again.

"I don't know, just hanging out?"

Zac

Zac shrugged.

"Whatever," he said.

He stood up.

Zada

Zada stood up as well.

"Great... wanna just walk around? It's a nice day."

Zac

Zac just sniffed and he and Zada walked around the park.

"You wanna go back to the pond and feed the ducks?" Zac asked after awhile.

Zada

"Anything you want."

Zada and Zac walked back to the bench and sat in silence for a few seconds.

"I wish I could cheer you up."

Zac

Zac threw some bread at the ducks.

"I guess I'm not in a cheery mood."

Zada

Zada leant over and kissed Zac gently, pulling away quickly in case he decided to slap her one.

Which he wouldn't... coz she was a girl.

Hopefully he wouldn't.

"OH I'm sorry, that was so out of line."

Zac

Zac stared blankly at the pond for a moment, then turned his head and looked at Zada.

"Well, that was... unexpected..."

He was silent for a moment.

"Look, I'm, I'm flattered really, but this just isn't a good time."

Zac stood up and began walking off. The odd thought popped into his head that there was something... familar about that kiss, but he shook it off.
