Taylor
When Taylor finally got home that night, he closed the front door behind him and sighed. He'd had to go for a long walk to try and sort things out upstairs. Upstairs, being his head.
He ran his fingers through his hair then headed upstairs, paying no attention to the looks he was getting from Diana and Mackie as he passed. His father was at the table alone, having a late dinner. Taylor hadn't been home for it, but he didn't particularly feel hungry after that day.
He made his way through to his room, left the door open, and collapsed down onto the bed. Flavian, Xanthe and Mya looked up in interest.
Isaac
Isaac poked his head into Taylor's room.
"Hey, Tay, you wanna practice?"
He paused.
"Tay? Something wrong?"
Taylor
"The DNA test isn't going to work, Ike," he blurted out, moving his hands away from his face.
He sighed and sat up, glancing at the fuzzles.
"I ran into STeel today... that guy I was in the car crash with? He's a hybrid duplicator, which you probably already knew. Christian was with him."
Isaac
Isaac frowned.
"I don't follow you. Why isn't the DNA test going to work? I mean, if it weren't for the fact that I know Christian has telekinesis, I'd say you're trying to tell me that he's a duplicate of you."
Taylor
Taylor frowned, looking at his brother like he was crazy.
"And if you weren't my brother and I didn't know you so well, I'd say you were a telepath."
Taylor shifted a little so his back was to the wall, indicating for Ike to come in and close the door.
"I just said Steel was a duplicator. As you can understand, a seven- year-old is very experimental with their powers... Steel is about 27. About twenty years ago he was in a park. He saw a baby in a pram with his two parents and 'bratty' elder brother - aliens. That's when he decided to see if he could clone humans, well, aliens."
Then he went on to explain - in short - what he, Kirk and Christian had figured out that day.
Mouse
Mouse walked in, eyes concerned. "What happened? Hey Ike." She nodded at Ike before going to Taylor. "I can sense something happened. What's wrong?" She was still walking a bit gingerly after what had happened yesterday.
Isaac
"Telepath? Me? No. You said the DNA test wouldn't work, Steel was a Duplicator and Christian was with him. I just put two and two together."
Isaac whistled softly.
"That is some predicament," he said after it was explained to Mouse. "But don't worry Tay, we'll figure something out."
Mouse
Knew we should have killed him. Fafnir said bluntly, having caught the gist of what had happened. He had come in halfway through the story, and curled up at Mouse's feet.
"Nice, quick, easy. And unfortunatly, illegal too." Mouse sighed.
By Pack law, both of them should die.
"And we can't do that."
Taylor
"Don't worry?!" Taylor exclaimed, sitting up straight.
"Ike, this, she... argh!"
He bit his lip trying to get a hold of himself.
"She's gone to the tabloids already. I've already been asked about it on the street. She is that obsessed she'll never believe it was Christian. And I mean... she's an alien. The rest of the world isn't. No one's gonna believe for a split second that Christian was pretending to be me. No one even believes there's someone out there that looks that much like me!"
He looked between them, stressing again.
"To make matters worse, she's the kinda stalker who is happy about it. She wants more. She wants the whole... marriage, kids, all that kind of psycho stuff. I can't..."
Isaac
Isaac took a deep breath.
"Of course you can't," he said. "No one should expect you to. I promise you Taylor, we'll figure out what to do. I guess we have to hold off on the DNA test - although we could always say she stole your sperm."
Isaac tried to hide a smile.
"I'm serious. I've heard of it happening. Of course, it would be hard to prove it, but at the end of the day, it would be your word against hers. If we can prove she's be stalking you though, that'll be in your favour."
Taylor
"Oh yeah, and that'd look great," Taylor rolled his eyes, putting his arm around Mouse.
He figured she was his best remedy.
"The only things we have against her so far involve teleporting, which might not look so good with human investigators... not to mention tabloids. The first time I ever saw her was at that concert where she jumped me in the back room, then took Mouse somehwere."
He kissed her forehead.
Mouse
"Yeah, and can I say ow? She pushed me over and ripped my shirt. Ow kinda covers it." Mouse leant into Taylor's side. "Pity we can't tell them we can talk to Fafnir. He could smell her out, and be able to tell when she's around. Maybe we could start carrying Polaroid cameras? You know, take piccies if she turns up around the place."
Taylor
"Well they'd expect her to show up now, it's a bit late for that."
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"I think she'll be trying to get to me alot more often. I'm guessing she'll either expect me to marry her or at least pay child support."
He shuddered at the thought.
Isaac
"Don't give up Tay," Isaac said. "There will be away out of this. Right now we have to play the psychopathic stalker thing. And let's face it, we dodn't even need to play - it's true!"
He put his hand on Taylor's shoulder.
"Don't stress. The best solution will probably come when you're not looking for it. Kind of like when you get answers after a good nights sleep," Isaac nodded. "It's going to work out."
