6 May 2003 - The battle of Dawn.

Dawn

Dawn looked around. "I'm not dead. Why aren't I dead?" she asked.

"You battle's just begun," Ben said.

"Ben! But you're dead."

"I'm not even really here. I'm just a guide. I'm here to show you everything you've done, all the pain that's been caused because of you." Dawn looked down.

"I make everyone suffer." Suddenly, she was in Romania. She watched as dozens of monks were slaughtered in her name. Then she was in California, and she watched the Knights of Byzantium die.

"This all happened because of me," Dawn wept. "They all died because of me!"

"You bet your bonnet, Dawnie," Ben said. Then she watched as Glory tortured Spike, and Tara, and sicked the brains out of innocent people, all to get to her. She was nearly broken when they got to Buffy.

"Oh look," Ben sneered. "you killed your sister too. You just hurt everyone you love, don't you?"

"I do, I do," Dawn currled up in a little ball, hiding in the corner, just weepeng.

Faith

Faith sat on the bed next to Dawn's and lay down, closing her eyes as she heard Willow murmur an incantion. Suddenly, Faith felt her spirit being pulled from her body.

She opened her eyes to see Dawn in the corner. Crying.

"Dawnie?"

Dawn

Dawn looked up. "Faith. No! Go away! I';m going to get you killed! I get everybody killed!" dawn gestured to the dead bodies surrounding her. Tara, Buffy, the Kights & the monks. They were everywhere. Cassie. The little girl from the mansion. Pink. Joyce. The girl that looked like her.

"I killed them. I killed them all."

Faith

"You're not gonna get me killed, I promise."

Faith extended her hand to Dawn.

"Willow sent me in to guide you, seeing as I survived Orpheus. Dawnie, you didn't get those people killed. It was their duty to fight for you."

Faith

Dawn looked up, death in her eyes. "I killed them."

Faith

"Dawn, it's so easy to sit here and cry and give up, isn't it?"

Faith shook her head.

"I know, because I did that too. I wanted to give up, but something stopped me... and that was all the people who care about me on the outside. And that applies to you... you have too many people who would hate to see you die. Myself included, why else would I be here? Dawn, you didn't kill anyone."

Dawn

"It would be better to die," Dawn said, her face tearstained. "Then I can't get anybody else killed. I can't hurt anybody else. I'm so dangerous."

Faith

Faith pulled Dawn to her feet.

"Dawn, do you remember what you promised Buffy when she died for you? That you would live for her. And by giving up, what are you hoping to achieve? Because if you give up, then hasn't this all been in vain?"

Dawn

"I suppose," Dawn said, hesitantly. "Yes, you're right. I have to live for Buffy." Dawn reached to hug Faith, but she vanished, almost instantly.

Faith

Faith opened her eyes and sat up.

"I think I've done all I can."
