25 April 2003 - Lost Without You

Faith

Faith watched as the sun went down. She considered her options. She could stay here, wallowing in her own pain and eat a lot of food, but at the nd of the night, she'd still be experiencing pain in her heart... OR she could go out, kill some vampires, get beaten to a bloody pulp, maybe even killed in the process. And then when she got home, she could go to sleep, and the only pain she'd heal was from her fighting, not from her heart.

Second option looked good.

Faith looked around for her jacket and realised she had left it in the bathroom. She went into the bathroom and once she saw the shower and the spa, she started to lose it again. Why was she letting the memories of her time with Zac hurt so much?

"Come on, get it together. Why are you letting him get to you?" Faith looked in the mirror at her tear stained cheeks, and her red puffy eyes. She knew the answer. Because this was the first guy she'd really cared about in a long while, and she had to hurt him.

Faith pushed aside her thoughts and put her jacket on. She felt more tears in her eyes and she groaned. "No more, crying. Get over it." She found the Jackal and a stake and put them in her pockets and ran out the door before anyone could stop her.

Faith and Paige

Hours later, Faith was beaten, broken and barely sane. She made her way back to the Manor slowly, wincing in pain. She'd broken her collar bone and a few ribs. As she stepped through the door and tip- toed to the kitchen, she caught a glimpse of Paige waiting up for her.

"Busy night, by the looks of it." Paige commented.

Faith sighed. "Yeah, can you hold me for a sec?"

Faith snapped her collar bone back into place. "Thanks."

"I can heal all that you know." Paige referred to her face and her ribs.

"No. Don't. I want it to hurt."

"Come here." Paige patted the seat next to her and Faith sat down. "You're obviously missing him."

"I'm not."

"You are. Everyone can see it. Faith, go see him."

"I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because, if I see him, then I'll be crumbling, and I can't... I have to stay away. It's the best thing for him. You know, his mom was right, I'm not the best person for him."

"Screw that, Faith, you like him, ok? And I kinda get the impression that he likes you too! So why can't you just be with him?"

"Because I'm going to get him killed. And if that doesn't happen, then I'll hurt him. Because I'm not a good person."

Paige sighed. "I don't know why you think that... you're not."

Faith nodded. "Whatever. I'm going to bed. Night." She went to her room and closed the door, launching herself onto her bed and crying into her pillow. She grabbed her ribs in pain, but glad that she could feel that pain and not the ones in her heart.
