Faith
Faith dialled Mouse's number and waited for her to pick up.
"Hey Mouse, it's Faith. Whatcha up to today? Coz I thought, if ya wanna go ball dress shopping..."
Mouse
"That sounds like a great idea!" Mouse grinned. "I haven't been doing much lately, so getting out would be a good thing. You want I should come over, or meet you someplace, or should we orb? I wanna make Taylor's eyes bug out. You seem to be good at knowing exactly what does that..."
Faith
"We'll orb." Faith grinned. "Yeah, I wanna make my date's eyes pop out. I'm going with Zac. Paige and I can come and get you whenever you're ready."
Mouse
"I just need to get some shoes on, and I'll be good. Back in a sec." Mouse put the phone down, and slid on her knee high boots over her tight back jeans, lacing them quickly and slipping her duster over her shoulders. She grabbed the kitties's credit card and stuck it in her jeans's back pocket before picking up the phone. "All ready, Faith. Orb when ready."
Faith and Paige
Faith grabbed a clip and loosely clipped her hair away from her face and picked up her wallet. She put the phone down and called for Paige. Paige came down, grabbed her hand, orbed to Mouse's and orbed them both into the toilets at the shops.
"See ya's later." Paige orbed out again.
"So, what kinda dress were ya in the market for?"
Mouse
"Classy but mindblowingly sexy." Mouse shrugged. "I'll probably know it when I see it. I'm just gonna browse and make notes if I see anything I like. If I keep liking it, I'll come back and buy it."
Faith
"Hmm... good plan. I want something that will make Zac hot. Very hot. Well maybe not, coz Diana will be there..."
Faith and Mouse came out of the toilets and looked around for some dress stores. Faith spotted one and pointed. "Come on."
Mouse
Mouse headed over to it with Faith, and stopped in surprise as a shop assisstant bustled over to them, sneer firmly in place.
"Good morning. I think you'll find that the discount shop down the way more to your budget." The handsome blonde looked down her nose at the two of them. Mouse glanced at Faith.
"Fine. You missed out on a whopper of a commision though, bitch." Mouse flashed the platinum Visa and had great pleasure in the shock that rippled over the woman's face. "You wanna try another shop, Faithy love?" Mouse decided to mess with the snob's mind a bit more and slid an arm around Faith's waist, cuddling up.
Faith
Faith grinned and pecked Mouse on the cheek before flipping the shop assistant off.
"Just for the record, I could kick yo ass so hard you wouldn't be able to sit down... ever again."
Faith took Mouse's hand and left, leading them to another store.
Mouse
"Well, that was fun. I hope the people here are nicer though. I wanna spend money!" And on that note, they entered the store.
Faith
Faith spotted a dress on the other side of the store and made her way over. It was a short low cut front and back dress with a split up to the crotch. She shook her head.
"Somehow, I don't think Mama Bear would really approve of me, ever, if I wore this."
She put the dress back on the rack and spied another one. It was a two piece deal, light pink, generally not her colour, with a bodice top and a long flowing bottom. She turned around, still deciding, bit her tongue and went and tried it on. She came out and looked around for Mouse.
"Ok, please don't laugh, coz I know I don't ever wear pink, but..."
MOuse
Mouse waggled her hand from side to side. "The style suits you, but the colour? Really thinking not. Red, maybe. Dark green. Maybe blue. But probably not pink."
Faith
"I was thinking that."
Faith stepped out, still wearing the dress and went back to where she found it. She picked out an identical one in a deep red and went to try it on.
"Ok... so how about this? I'm really gonna have to get other shoes... "
Mouse
"Hey, I have a money kitty, remember? I don't want you to feel obligated, but I do want you to feel good when we go out. Do you mind if the cats pay?" Mouse looked hesitant; she didn't want to make Faith feel like she was accepting charity. "And the red looks much better. What if we put it as a possible?"
Faith
Faith nodded. "Yeah, thanks." She glanced down. "Yeah, we'll put it as possible. You seen anything you like yet?"
Faith lifted the skirt slightly so she could see her ankles. "Ah, ankles, how I miss seeing you. I am so not used to this formal thing... I wish I could go a la Faith, but I don't think it's the best idea..."
Mouse
"Probably not. Diana would throw a fit." Mouse grinned, relieved, then bounced over to the rack. "What about this for me?" A slightly faery style dress, in a light blue with silver embriodery decorating it. Mouse thought it looked like something an Elf from the Lord of the Rings movie would wear. She held the dress up against herself and turned to face Faith.
Faith
Faith cocked her head to one side.
"Try it on... it's very... I wanna say elvish, but if you've ever actually seen an elf, they don't wear much at all."
She grinned. "But it's very cleavagey."
' Mouse
"Mucho cleavagy," Mouse agreed, and went to try it on. She slid her hands down over her hips as she stepped out of the change room, loving the feel of the cool fabric against her skin. The sleeves were pointed at the end, and they had a ring thing on the end you had to slide your middle finger through so the sleeves would hang right. "Faith, comments, thoughts?" The dress whispered against her ankles.
Faith
Faith smiled and gave her a thumbs up. "That's very high on the possible list." She pulled the slutty dress she'd been loooking at before and stared at it longingly. "Come on, as if this won't turn Zac on!"
Mouse
"Maybe for another night that wasn't the ball?" Mouse suggested. "Diana would go spare. And then the other adults would probably hit the roof about three seconds later. Maybe...sophisticated socialite, rather then slut? You could do it so easy."
Faith
Faith pouted. "Yeah, you have a point. I'm gonna need everything I can get to impress Diana."
"So, anything else here? Or another store?"
Mouse
"Can't see anything...I don't know if I want to go as a fairy princess to the ball, anyway." Mouse looked around. "Put it down as a high maybe anyway. New store." They headed out.
Faith
Faith and Mouse headed into another store where Faith found another dress after some rifling.
It was another two piece. With a pale goldish bodice and a white, almost see through skirt with pink and blue and red flowery patterns on it. She looked it over for a few minutes and then tried it on. It looked good, despite aving never really been in light colours before, the light gold contrasted nicely against her tanned skin and her dark hair.
"Hmm... Mouse?"
Mouse
"Classy, but sexy. And it suits your skin colour." Mouse nodded approvingly, then headed into the change rooms with her own selection. A long black dress in some slinky material, shot through at the bottom with silver threads that twined upwards towards her hips. The bodice was lowish, and at rhe back, it came down to just above the small of her back. It had then spaghetti straps of black twisted with silver. Her arms were bare. "I like it...what do you think, Faith?"
Faith
Faith smoothed down the sides of her dress and turned to Mouse.
"Oh wow, that's hot. If Tay doesn't get turned on by that... well then, he's obviously gay and you should move on. I like it, it brings out your eyes, makes them twinkle."
Mouse
"I think this is it then. You don't mess with a good thing. So, you gonna get that one?" Mouse looked around. "Or you wanna keep looking?"
Faith
"Like you said, don't mess with a good thing. This one it is."
Faith got changed back into her clothes and hung the dress up and stpped out of the change rooms.
"Shoes, I guess?"
Mouse
"Shoes, find a beauty parlour and book in for the afternoon before the ball, handbags, jewellery." Mouse looked at Faith and grinned. "I read a lot of girlie mags. Prom night was covered in detail." She ducked into the changing room and slid back into her normal clothes. "Shall we just wander and stop when we see something we like?"
Faith
"Yeah, sounds good."
Once the dresses were paid for, the left the store and headed towards a shoe store.
Mouse
"So you think it will be too cold for sandals?" Mouse asked Faith as they browsed. "I don't know about wearing closed shoes with this dress. Oh, fur! I should get a fur. Or something. A cape. Velvet? Silver jewellery. Comments, Faithy?"
Faith
Faith picked out some gold strappy sandals with ties that went up her leg. She tried them on and grinned. "Well these just rock."
She looked over at Mouse. "I vote sandals. Your feet won't be that cold. Besides, Tay can always keep ya warm." She poked her tonuge out teasingly and thought for a second. "Silver jewellery definitely. I'll have to go with gold to match. A cape would be cute... I might find a wrap or something."
Mouse
"I think I'll see if I can find an alien jeweller," Mouse commented thoughtfully. "I really like these rainbow stone thingies, and I would like to wear the one Taylor gave me." She fingered the chain, which after finding out about Christian had found its way back to its rightful place on her neck. "This has a gold chain though...should I be sentimental and ignore the thin gold chain, or just buy new? And you know, I can't believe I just said that." Mouse shook her head in amazement. "Pretty good for a steet brat."
Faith
"Hmm... I guess it'll depend on the earrings. If you find gold earrings to match the gold chain, then it won't matter so much, but if not, you might have to go with silver. I mean, it is only for a night, I guess."
Mouse
"Point." Mouse nodded slowly, then picked up a pair of thin strapped black sandals, with a slight platform heel. "I don't want to wear too high shoes. I like that Tay is taller." She grinned at Faith.
Faith
"Hmm, good point. Well Zac is already slightly taller than me, so this will put me maybe... half an inch above him?" She looked down at her feet before standing up and walking around.
"Ok, here's the test I always try." Faith roundhouse kicked and still kept her balance.
"Ok, I'll go these ones. I figure, if I can kick ass while I'm wearing shoes, they're good."
Mouse
Mouse laughed. "Good test but I don't need to kick ass. I just need to stand there, look pretty, and maybe dance." She sat down and slid the sandals onto her feet. They were slightly Romanesque, in a black matte material, and a silver flower embroidered onto the side of the heels. She fastened the ankle strap and stood up, lifting the hems of her jeans. "Ya think?"
Faith
"See they're cute coz they'll match your dress. I like them."
Faith took the shoes off and put her own boots back on. "Well, see I never know when I'll have to slay, so I have to have shoes on that will allow for it, ya know?"
Mouse
"Vamps wait for no Slayer!" Mouse agreed as she slipped the sandals off and started re-lacing her boots. "Give me those, and I'll go pay." Transaction completed, they headed off again. "Jewellery?"
Faith
"Yep." Faith pointed to a jewellery store and they headed over to it. Faith frowned at the selection.
"Hmm... that's cute." Faith pointed at a slim gold chain with a tiny golden cross charm.
Mouse
"And appropriate," Mouse agreed. "Being on the side of the angels and all." She looked over the silver jewellery. "Hmm, I like those earrings. Guess I should get my ears pierced while we're up here, hey?" The earrings in question were small silver flowers hanging like beads from three silver threads.
Faith
"Yeah, that'd be good. Clip on earrings? Big tacky no no."
Faith decided on the gold cross chain and to wear the gold charm bracelet that Buffy had left her. She also had some gold tear drop earrings which would go nicely as well.
Mouse
"I think I'll get the earrings, and that's it. I already have bracelets, and I think I'll just wear Taylor's necklace. You know, in that dress, everyone's gonna see how ink happy I am," Mouse commented thoughtfully. "I usually cover them up."
Faith
Faith let her jacket fall slightly and pointed at her tattoo on her arm.
"Hmm, are they a winner with Diana though? Coz uh... mine's kinda hard to cover."
Mouse
"Hey, she knows Zac is a bit naughty. Kinda got the proof of that appearing in a few months. I don't get why she goes all Mamma Bear with you over Zac, and barely a word about me and Tay. I broke into her freaking house." Mouse shook her head. "People are so illogical."
Faith
"Yeah, but generally you're a good person... and uh... I have that slight thing with being 5 years older than Zac. Which I don't see as a problem, but she obviously does. And besides, I'm the 'bad girl' type."
Mouse
Mouse snorted inelegantly through her nose. "Crap." She shook her head. "I know people, Faith. It's just camouflage. You're a good person. Do you look down on me cos I went all psycho serial killer rabid wolf? You saw me. You know what I did. I sliced a few guys throats. Castrated one of them. I don't know what you think you have to blame yourself for, and I don't care. You're my friend. Things in the past...I'm sure we've done things we're less then proud of. What's worth paying attention to is now." Mouse laughed. "Way to go all deep and meaningful, Mouse."
Faith
Faith smiled. "Thanks Mouse. But try telling Diana that. I don't think she's gonna get past the whole 'bad girl' thing with Zac. COz that's probably the last thing he needs, you know?"
Mouse
"Actually, I think you're exactly what Zac needs." Mouse smiled. "I know feelings, and if Diana wants to ignore what's going on, that's her problem. And you're a good person. What's on the outside does not compare with the person I know is on the inside."
Faith
Faith lifted her finger and wiped it down her cheek as though she was crying. "Aww, tear."
She smiled. "Thanks though. But the real person to convince is Diana."
Mouse
Mouse laughed. "I wouldn't worry about her. She's nice, but she's got her own filters." She walked into a piercing parlour. "I want to get my ears pierced, how much is that, and can I get it done today? Now?"
"We're not that busy. Please fill out these forms and perhaps you'd like to pick out a set of studs?" The guy on the counter was wearing an impressive amount of metal himself.
"OK." Mouse took the forms and a pen off him, and sat down in a chair.
Diana
Faith waited patienly while Mouse was getting her ears done, wondering if she should go and get her tongue done. No, that was definitely not going to impress Diana.
Mouse
"Hmm. Definitely hurts a lot less then tats," Mouse commented as they left finally. "Maybe I'll get a tongue stud sometime. I always thought they were pretty good, but I always needed to be able to talk, y'know? Jessi has a tongue stud, and Diana has *no* idea. For an empath, she can be dense."
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Yeah, well, she still hasn't figured out that Zac and I have seen each other a few times, so she's obviously not paying much attention. Where to next?"
Mouse
"Coats, if we can find something, and handbags?" Mouse looked at Faith. "Oh! And we should book a session at a parlour to do all those finicky hair and make up things done."
Faith
They headed in the direction of a store that looked to be selling coats. Faith spotted a whitish gold shawl and marched herself over.
"Hmm... the problem is how we're gonna do our hair. Questions, comments?"
MOuse
"Well, mine's short. So...spiked and gelled for me. I might see if I can find some silver hair jewels or something to put in it. Eh. That's the hairdresser's job." Mouse shrugged. "Out could work for you. Or something."
Faith
Faith thought for a second. "Yeah, I might get it tamed a bit, instead of the wild curl thing I seem to be having going on."
Mouse
"That could look good with the dress though," Mouse said as she lifted a black coat that had plush silver fur around the cuffs and collar down and then slipped her arms into it. It came all the way down to her ankles. "What about this for a coat?"
Faith
"I like it, it matches the theme you're having."
Faith ran her hands through her hair. "Yeah, I don't know, I guess I'll just leave it out."
Mouse
"Same. I think I'll get it. Do you want that shawl?" Mouse asked, taking the coat off and holding it in her arms. "You know, I think this is real fur." She rubbed her cheek along the fur, eyes half closed in enjoyment. "Rabbit, by the scent and feel."
Faith
Faith nodded. "Yep, I love it, let's go with these ones. I can't wait to see Zac again."
Mouse
"You can never wait to see Zac again. You should just shrink him or something, carry him in your pocket. Just add water, full size Zac!" Mouse suggested mischievously as she paid for their things.
Faith
Faith nodded. "Hmm, Zac whenever I want him... that would be excellent. It would be like heaven."
They continued shopping, putting a large hole in the kitty's bank account and made their appointments at the beauty salon. Then they went home.
