Tanya and Isaac
It was early morning that Tanya arrived at the Hanson house. The message Vicky had left for her had made her anxious.
The door opened, and Tanya stepped inside, not seeing anyone.
"Hi Tanya," Isaac said cheerfully from the stair well, a plate of food floating in the air, "I was actually on my way to give Taylor his breaky. Other than the bathroom, he hasn't really come out of his room."
"I see," Tanya replied.
She followed him up the stairs, a smile on her face seeing the plate float up with them.
"You couldn't be bothered carrying it?" she asked.
"Huh? Oh. Naw. Besides, I kinda gave my telekinesis a break after my trip home with Tay. I felt like I have overworked myself a bit with all those vehicles on the highway."
"I see I have some reading to catch up on."
Isaac grinned, and knocked on Taylor's door.
"Tay? Breakfast. And Tanya's here."
Taylor
Taylor looked up at the door and went to answer it. He smiled a little when he saw his breakfast, and grabbed it from mid-air.
"Thanks Ike, hi Tanya," he nodded to her, then led them back into the room.
He sat on the bed and put the plate on the dresser.
Tanya and Isaac
"Wowee..." Tanya said. "I can feel the festering from here. What happened?"
"The Eye. Previously known as The Spider," Isaac answered.
"Hmm. Yes, Wayne mentioned that to me," she shook her head. "I should have known that wouldn't have been the end of it. Craig is too slippery to be caught in a fire. But enough about that!"
She turned to Taylor.
"I won't lie to you, Taylor, I'm about to go into your head and take a good look at eactly what's been done. I'm not going to do anything to make it worse, naturally, but I make no guarrantees that it's not going to hurt, even though I am going to try not to hurt you, okay?"
Taylor
Taylor shuddered at the mention of the Eye.
"I think... they only time I'll complain is if the pain gets worse than that first morning," he frowned a little, "I had another one a few days ago, but Vicky gave me some pills for it and it kinda calmed it down a bit."
He glanced at Isaac.
Tanya and Isaac
Isaac gave him what he hoped was a reassuring nod. Tanya sat down, took a breath, and concentrated.
She tentatively moved into Taylor's mind and winced seeing the damage. The further she went in, the worse it seemed to look. She did her best not to hurt Taylor, but knew that she had touched a couple of sensitive spots by accident.
At last she pulled out, shaking her head.
"Well, the bad news is that it's bad. But you already knew that. The good news is that it's not irrepairable. The bad news is that it can't be fixed in one shot. You're going to have to have monthly treatments, and only from me. Only a master can do thta kinda of work, and I'm the only one in the country."
She sighed.
"It's going to take at least a year," Tanya went on. "Sorry, Taylor."
Taylor
"That's two lots of bad news," Taylor chuckled, but quickly sobered.
He gulped instead.
"I hope you're gonna tell me that the headaches will go away?"
Flavian watched on again silently. He'd been Taylor's almost constant companion while he'd been in his room.
Tanya and Isaac
"Yes, Taylor," Tanya smiled, "the headaches will go away. I'll give you the first treatment now - hopefully that will get rid of the pain, if not, it should be gone by the next treatment. Your poweris Tongue, huh? Well, that's a bit of a blessing. If it had been something like Ike's telekinesis I would have had to ask you to refrain from using it."
She created for herself a couple of telepathic repairing tools and got to work. It took about an hour before the treatment was over.
"Phew!" she said when she finally managed to pull out. "Okay, here are some more of those telepathic pain killers. They should last you through to my next visit - but they are potent. Only one every twelve hours. Any more may cause more damage."
Isaac gave Taylor a grin, and then turned to Tanya.
"So, you'll come back in a month?"
"Yes," Tanya nodded. "Oh, and Taylor, I found the information about the bomb. Why hadn't you told anyone?"
Taylor
Taylor's eyes widened, even though he felt tired after whatever she'd done.
"I, uh... I..." he stammered, "I was going to tell Dad the first chance I got."
He glanced at Ike nervously.
"But the Eye didn't want me telling anyone. I thought if I did he'd... he'd kill them or something. I don't know why he didn't want anyone to know."
Tanya
Tanya faked a spit, complete with sound effects.
"He'd just want to make this turn out right for him. He's an opportunist. And he can't kill anyone with the knowledge if he doesn't know who they are. But in any case, he's been trying to kill me on and off for years and I'm still alive. No, no, I'll see that this information gets to Wayne immediately. This is too important. The whole world is at stake after all."
Taylor
Taylor nodded.
"I just didn't know how desperate he was. I mean, we were in a few car chases with him on the way back..." Taylor trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"I just didn't know what to think. He wouldn't even let me kill myself while I was there."
He put his face in his hands.
"I tried, I really did."
Tanya
"I know," Tanya replied gently. "And we're all glad you didn't. Look, don't you mind Craig. I'll deal with him. And you have plenty of people here more than happy to help you."
Tanya smiled and put her hand on Isaac's shoulder.
"And this one appears to be very good at it. So if you haven't got any further questions, I'd better be going."
Taylor
Taylor just shook his head silently.
"Thank you," he said quietly.
Tanya and Isaac
"No problem. Bye Taylor," Tanya said.
Isaac led Tanya out.
"By the way, Ike," Tanya said, "I think you should know... Taylor's agoraphobic."
"He is? Since when?" Isaac asked in surprise.
"Something that occoured during his escape, I suppose. That's why he's in his room all the time. I'd suggest you encourage him out."
Isaac nodded.
"Okay."
"But don't force him."
"Okay. Wow, that's going to be interesting when we have our concerts."
"Mmm."
Isaac opened the door for her.
"Thanks for all your help."
"You're welcome."
And Tanya left.
