Tara
Tara Maclay had one chance to go back and see Willow Rosenburg. After months of begging and pleading, and watching her love, she had finally been granted the one chance to see her. Of course, there was a slight loophole. Tara was not allowed to interfere in anything that was happening during the one day she was there... that meant no spells, no helping with research, no divulging information that they didn't have already. The only thing she could do was give them helpful hints of where they could look.
"Are you ready?" Tara was startled by her guardian Goddess. SHe nodded and watched as she was teleported to where Willow was now located. Too much had happened since she had gone, and they all needed time to heal.
Tara knocked on Willow's door and waited patiently. When it opened, she gave a nervous smile, unsure of what Willow's reaction to seeing her would be.
"Willow?"
Willow
Wilow's eyes widened. "Okay, not the First, First can't knock. Tara baby? Is that really you?"
Tara
Tara reached out and let her fingers touch Willow. She smiled again.
"Yes, it's really me."
Willow
"Oh Goddess! Tara! Please, just let me hold you!" Willow said, pulling Tara into her arms.
Tara
Tara embraced Willow breathing in her scent, remembering things she had long forgotten.
"By the way, I like your hair."
Willow
"Please, baby, come inside and sit with me. Tell me everything, I just want to hear you talk. You can talk about anything, I missed your voice so much!' Willow said, the tears gently spilling over her eyelids. "How did you come back to me? Are you back for good?" Willow tried not to get her hopes up, but inside, she was unbelievably scared. They wouldn't give Tara back to her just to take her away again, would they? Coul the guardians of the hates to Heaven be so unbearably cruel?
Tara
Tara followed Willow and sat beside her.
"Baby, I'm only allowed to be here for a day." She leaned over and hugged Willow, smoothing her hair down.
"I've been watching you, Willow. And I love you."
Willow
Willow's eyes widened. "No, no, they can't do that to me. They can't give you back to me only to take you away again, that's even worse than not getting you back at all! No, baby, we were supposed to be forever," Willow wept in Tara's arms.
"Please don't go baby. Don't leave me alone. I can't do it. I can't be a goddess. It should've been you, not me. You're the perfect one, you always were. I love you more than words can say." Willow looked up at the heavens. "Oh Diana, don't take her away again."
Tara
Tara let her first love weep into her arms.
"Willow, baby, don't cry. I have to go at the end of today, but I promise you, I will find another way to come back... and even if I can't... I'm always watching you, and I'm always here..."
Willow
"I missed you so much, baby. I got so dark, I lost myself. But Xander found me. I don't know how to make it without you," she said, sincerely.
Tara
Tara rubbed Willow's back gently.
"But you were found again, and that's all that matters. Willow, I'm always here for you, even if you can't see me, believe me, I never left you."
Willow
"I love yoy baby. Just, come inside, we can talk," Willow said, pulling Tara inside.
Tara
Tara nodded and silently followed Willow, tears forming in her eyes, hurting for what she could feel inside Willow.
