Isaac
Isaac and Taylor had stayed at a motor inn on the way. Upon awaking in the morning, Isaac went over the map with Taylor and then they got in the car and started off.
"What the... hey, there's a road block up ahead," Isaac said.
He looked at Taylor.
"I suddenly have a bad feeling about this."
Taylor
Taylor sat up from where he was hunched over to get a better look.
"Well he knows we're heading for Tulsa."
He glanced at Isaac, then returned his focus to the road.
"He's not gonna give up on me lightly, I... I interpreted something for him that I think he wants to keep a secret."
He gulped.
Isaac and The Eye
"Yeah? What was that?" Isaac asked.
Meanwhile The Eye had taken control of some police, and have them create this road block to locate some 'dangerous criminals'.
Taylor
"I'd rather not say at this point in time," Taylor admitted, shaking his head.
He squinted at the road block.
"The police are up there."
His eyes widened.
"If he has control of police, that could mean anything from hand cuffs to beating the crap out of us."
Isaac and The Eye
"Dang it," Isaac said.
He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel.
"What to do... what to do..."
The Eye was getting impatient. He had been here for hours. This better start showing some fruit soon!
Taylor
Taylor unlocked his seatbelt as Isaac began to slow.
He bit his lip, trying to think.
"Maybe I should tell you what a translated in case this doesn't work out how we expected," he frowned, covering his mouth with a hand.
"He's not going to give up. Even if we make it home he's going to be hunting me. Although I'm not sure why he doesn't want anyone to know yet. Apart from panic..."
Isaac
"I think we're going to have to take this one as it comes."
Isaac looked at Taylor.
"That bad is it?" He asked.
Taylor
"You think a bomb that could blow up the entire United States is bad?" Taylor raised his eyebrows.
"Think that by ten. In an isolated part of the world that nobody knows where the hell it is. And it could go off any day now. It was set years ago, ready to go off this year. I gave the spider a page full of riddles so it'll take him a while to figure out exactly what it's like. I on the other hand, know exactly what it looks like."
He glanced at his brother.
"And how to stop it. I just don't know where the hell it is."
Isaac and The Eye
Isaac gave a low whistle. Then he paused.
"The Spider? I thought he was The Eye?" He questioned, then realisation came upon him. "Oh. My. Gosh. I thought his voice sounded familar. But Tanya saw him die? His body burned up and turned to ash before her eyes - she gave a most graphic description of it for the disbelievers. Guess they were right!"
The cars moved up, and a police officer tapped on the door. The Eye smirked in excitement. This was it. This was their car...
"Is there something wrong, officer?" Isaac asked, rolling down the window.
"Can you step out of the car please?"
Isaac spotted The Eye.
"Can I ask what this is about?"
"Just step out of the car."
"Sorry, Officer, can't do that. Aside from the fact that the doors aren't going to open for you no matter how hard you lift them handles, I happen to know that you're being telepathically manipulated by that dude over there. So I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to go now."
Isaac wound the windows out, telekinetically moved the obstacles (animate and inanimate) out of the way, hit the accelerator and zoomed down the road.
Taylor
Taylor held on as Isaac almost hit top speed and the police cars began to give chase.
"Oh God," he squeezed his eyes shut.
"The Spider had a friend who can clone people. He made a clone of himself and left the clone to die. That's who Tanya saw. And that's how he said it happened."
He looked back for a moment and gulped.
"Ike? I hope this thing goes faster than cop cars. They're gaining."
Isaac
"Ohhhh man..." Isaac said, eyeing the cars in the mirror.
He clicked his tongue.
"So, the Spider is still alive - or the Eye as he seems to be calling himself now. Dang it, I don't want to hurt anyone, but the only ways I can think of to get us out of this mess are going to kill them."
He frowned and chewed his bottom lip.
"If you have any suggestions I'll be most grateful."
Taylor
"What?" Taylor's eyes widened, "you... you... oh man."
He shook his head as he looked back at them, frowning in concentration.
"We have to be able to think of something," he shook his head, "I... But I can't."
Isaac and The Eye
"Okay... well... here's goes... I hope... I hope I don't kill any of them..."
Isaac paused, spotting a couple of large trucks.
"On second thoughts..."
He took hold of the trucks, opened the doors enough to pull the drivers out, and then have the trucks collide with each other.
It created a very large 'boom' noise.
And a lot of smoke and flames and stuff.
It would hold up the highway for hours.
The Eye cursed and spat and Isaac drove merrily down the highway.
Taylor
Taylor watched as the trucks faded off into the distance, then slumped down into his seat with a sigh.
"Thank God no one got hurt. Please Ike, just take me home. I know I probably won't be any safer but at least it'll feel like it."
He closed his eyes, holding back a yawn.
Isaac
Isaac grinned and sighed.
"I know what you mean, man, I know what you mean."
Taylor
"Maybe you do and maybe you don't," Taylor rolled his eyes even though they were closed.
"I seriously need to sleep for a few days. Maybe I could hide out in a bunker or something, away from everyone and everything."
He didn't want to mention he was already feeling nervous about being outdoors, and he didn't know why.
Isaac and The Eye
It was some hours later. It had taken a train ride and much telepathic activity, but the Eye managed to catch up (he hoped) with those darn Hanson boys.
He managed to get back on the free way, and blatently ignored the speed laws to find their car. He read the mind of passing drivers to see if they had seen them, and finally he caught up. Hopefully they wouldn't notice he was in the car behind them.
Obviously his previous tactics hadn't worked so well, but then, they had known where he was.
If only Isaac didn't have that telepathic sheild! This would be so much easier. He did want Taylor alive, but considering his options, he decided he would rather kill Taylor than have him rejoin alien society to tell them what he knew.
There was only one thing for it. He would have to wait until it was thick with traffic and have them all try to ram the car at once. Isaac would probably try to hold them off, but enough traffic would tire him.
And then he would win.
It was another hour or so before the traffic was thick enough for the Eye to put his plan into action.
"What the..." Isaac gasped, seeing the vehicles around him surge towards them. "Dang it! He must have found us again!"
Taylor
Taylor shot up again after awakening for sleep just moments before.
"He's... he's here?!" he exclaimed, turning around to search the cars.
He couldn't see him.
"Where the heck is he?! Ike, Ike, are you ok?"
Isaac
"He's doing his ram-us-with-all-the-traffic-on-the-highway trick again! I don't know where he is!"
Isaac frowned in concentration, trying to keep the vehicles away.
"Take the wheel Tay, please," Isaac said. "I can't drive and keep them from killing us at the same time."
Taylor
"Oh man, not again," Taylor moaned, but grabbed the steering wheel as they switched places again.
"Ike, I hope you realize that it's going to be a hell of a long time before I ever get behind the wheel again. If I ever do. I'm gonna try and find a way out."
Isaac
"And I don't blame you..." Isaac trailed off as he concentrated.
He groaned from the sheer effort - just his luck there was a travelling circus to fend off!
Taylor
Taylor saw the circus and it clicked.
He hoped there were animals in there... if there were, they were either asleep or just silent.
He wound down the window of the car and tried to get closer to the nearest trailer.
"HELLO?" he called out in mix.
Numerous cries of reply came and Taylor grinned slightly. It had been so long since he'd used to his power to talk.
"Any birds in there?!" he called out in bird.
Isaac and The Eye
The Eye kept sending the vehicles back. What with the number of trucks that made up the travelling circus it wouldn't be long before Isaac was too exhausted.
And then they would die.
Isaac was already panting. He kept looking around through the windows, pushing away cars and trying to find an alternative way out of this mess.
Taylor
Taylor half had his eye on the road, and was half watching the trailer. He soon saw a small flutter of wings through the gap at the top of the trailer and heard a few birds cry out.
"Can you guys see out?!" he called out the window.
One replied 'yes'.
Quickly, Taylor described the Eye to them.
"The white one! Four cars back on your left!"
Taylor's head shot around.
"Ike! The white Datsun! He's in the white Datsun!"
Then he swerved to keep on the road as he turned back and watched in the mirror.
Isaac and The Eye
For a moment, Isaac didn't comprehend what Taylor told him. The swerve made it click and he focused on the white Datsun.
He flipped it.
The Eye's hold was broken as a car behind him couldn't help but slam into him.
Isaac used the last of his strength to push the last of the cars right - although their drivers now free of the Eye were working at doing it themselves so that took some of the effort away from Isaac.
Isaac leaned over and rest his head on the dashboard.
"Maybe next stop we make we should trade this car in for another one," he said. "I'm not sure how final the crash was for The Eye,but in any case, with a new car he can't track us down again so easily."
Taylor
"You got any money on you?" Taylor glanced at him.
He knew his brother had almost driven himself to sleep.
"New car sounds good. As long as you drive. After you rest up, that is."
Isaac
Isaac yawned.
"Money I can organise," he said.
And he fell asleep.
