30 March 2003 - Revenge continued

Mouse

Mouse waited until she was pretty far down the street before sitting down in yard and casting her net wide.

Mousey dearest? What's wrong? Sparra fluttered down onto her shoulder. Mouse quickly explained it to the sparrow. Oh, my word...Mouse, are you alright?

I will be. Will you help?

Of course! You don't even need to ask. Sparra sounded faintly offended.

I knew I could count on you. What I want is this... Mouse explained what she wanted and Sparra listened. Send the word out. Taylor is to be ignored, no matter what he says, or does. If anyone feels like it, they can swoop and divebomb and peck to their heart's content.

I will tell the flocks.

Thanks, Sparra.

It's the very least I can do, dearie. Sparra nipped Mouse's ear affectionately and flew off. A few dogs trotted up, and Mouse set them much the same task she had Sparra. With much growling, they agreed. Being Pack animals themeselves, they understood Mouse better then even the birds had.

So, what you want, twolegger? Cats started to sidle up now, eyes gleaming and backs arching.

Revenge? You will understand me, I think. Cats know how to hold a grudge.

But what do we get out of it, twolegger?

Fish. And cream.

You got yourself a deal, twolegger! Mouse set them off. She grinned. Soon, not an animal or bird in the city would talk to Taylor. If he set foot outside his door, he would be divebombed. His car would get marked by a lot of animals. Tyres let down by cats claws. Decal scratched. Dogs would howl, and cats hiss as he passed. Cheat on her? Not without a little payback. She got up, dusting her pants off and headed homewards.
