30 March 2003 - Sunday with the Braddocks

Isaac and Miette

Isaac made breakfast for the Braddocks that Sunday morning. After everyone had eaten and gotten dressed, they went to Church.

"It's funny," Isaac observed to Miette later.

"What's funny?"

"Well, your Dad goes, but - no offence or anything - he doesn't really walk the walk."

"No offence taken."

"And that's another thing too... quite a few of us aliens go to Church and become Christians or whatever, but there isn't actually anything in the bible about aliens."

"True," then Miette smiled. "But depending on which version of the bible you check, the word 'human' doesn't appear either."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I tend to use the New King James version, which has no references. They say that that version is the closest translation to the original."

"Well, well, you learn something new every day."

Miette smiled.

"And at any rate, alien or human, I think that the Bible has a lot of sense in it. A lot of good guidelines for life and living. In fact, one of my friends recently said that althought it may seem that God wants you to give up stuff, what are you really giving up? Stuff that you shouldn't really have or be doing anyway. He only wants to make you a better person."

Isaac nodded in agreement.

Lunch with the Braddocks involved lunch with a few other family members. Rowena attempted to appolgise for the usual chaos, but pointed out that with six younger siblings, and what with touring and everything he was used to madness on a regular basis.

After the family had left, Isaac went up to Oliver's room and began packing his this - what there was of them.

"It was nice having you here," Miette said softly.

"And I loved being here, with you," Isaac replied.

He took that moment to softly kiss her. Miette wrapped her arms around his neck and they kissed a little longer.

"I'm going to miss you," she said.

"You sure you won't come back with me."

"Sorry, Ike."

"Hmm. I guess the next time we see each other will be Ash and Mindy's wedding."

"I guess. Unless I can catch a lift with Clark again some time. I won't take adavantage of his generousity though."

"I understand," Miette nodded.

"Speaking of which, I should probably give him a call and get going."

"Okay."
