Rogue and Gambit
Rogue was in the park. She was sitting on a pack bench and sort of staring into space. Why she was at the park, she knew not. Every person that went by made her feel... wrong.
Liberty was with her. The little fuzzle always made Rogue feel better. She was just sitting on her shoulder, all curled up, and looked like she was part of the outfit.
"Hello there cherie," said a voice.
Rogue looked up to see a man probably in his early twenities at most. He wore dark glasses and a brown trenchcoat, and took it upon himself to sit down beside her. She looked pointedly away from him.
"Dat a fuzzle?"
Rogue paused and looked back at the young man, who reached into his pocket and pulled out...
"A fuzzle!" Rogue gasped.
"Sure t'ing," he replied, putting the fuzzle down on his lap and taking her gloved hand to kiss in softly. "Da name's Remy, and yo?"
"Rogue."
He tilted his head slightly at this, then took off his glasses as he inquired:
"Rogue. Would yo' happen ta be a mutant too den? I'm also known as Gambit."
Rogue gave a little gasp as she saw his eyes. The whites of his eyes were actually black, and his irises red. She nodded, a little nervously.
"I can charge objects with kinetic energy, what about yo'?"
Rogue hesitated for a moment before awsering.
"When people touch my skin Ah absorb their life force. Ah can send people into a coma that way - or even kill them if Ah hold on too long. Ah take on their memories and in the case of mutants Ah also borrow their powers."
She looked down at her hands and smiled a little at Liberty and Gambit's fuzzle were introducing themselves.
"Int'rusting," Gambit replied. "So, do da gloves mean yo' having a li'l trouble controlling your power cherie?"
"Yeah," Rogue answered quietly. "Muh fuzzles' name is Liberty, what about yours?"
"Red."
"Red?" Rogue giggled. "But he is red!"
"And dats why it's such a good name."
"If it had been blue, would you have named it Blue?"
"But he's not blue, cherie," Gambit replied with a grin. "Hmm, it seems they get along pretty well."
"Yeah," Rogue smiled. "Y'know, Liberty is the only one I can touch without absorbing her. Y'know, on account of being all fur."
"I see."
The two chatted a little longer until at last they had to part ways. But they traded numbers and agreed to meet up again. Just because Liberty and Red got on so well, of course.
