28 March 2003 - An afternoon together

Miette and Isaac

After Clark left, Miette showed Isaac up to Oliver's room.

"Mum's left it just the way Oliver did," Miette told him. "She's spoken to him a few times, but I know she misses him terribly and wishes he'd come back."

"I can understand that," Isaac said, looking around. "Oli was a bit of a slob, wasn't he?"

Miette giggled.

"Yep."

"Hope your mom doesn't mind, but I think I'll clean it up a bit."

"My mum is going to love you," she laughed.

Isaac grinned as he put his telekinesis to work.

"That's good. I was a little worried she might not appreciate me just showing up. And I had a feeling your dad wouldn't like me at all."

Miette shrugged.

"He's used to having his own way. I kinda get the impressiont hat when he was growing up they let him get his own way a lot so that he wouldn't lose his temper and his power along with it."

Isaac winced.

"Yeah... I guess it would be hard growing up with a power like that. I guess after you hear about his background though, it does make it easier to understand why he is like he his."

"Mmm... that's true. Still, it would be nice if he could see that not all powers are like that."

"He'll come around eventually," Isaac said, putting his arm around her. "Don't you worry."

She smiled.

"So, would you like to go with a walk?"

"As long as I'm with you, I'm happy."

Miette blushed and they headed downstairs again.

"Mum? Ike and I are going for a walk."

"Okay, Mi. Just make sure you're home in time for dinner."

"Okay."

Miette and Isaac stepped out the door, and she shook her head smiling.

"What is it?" Isaac asked.

"When I was dating in high school," Miette giggled, "Mum would always give my boyfriends the looking over and everytime they would take me out she would point a finger and demand that they take care of me and don't do anything disrespectful and whatever. Now she gave you the looking over, but she hasn't said anything. So either that means she trusts me more, but I think it's more likely that she actually likes one of my boyfriends for once."

"Ahh," Isaac nodded. "Cool. Known your mom for less than a day and already I've made a good impression."

"It would seem so. Oh, and she loved the ring you gave me."

"The rainbow crystal ring?"

"Yep," and Miette held it up. "I haven't taken it off, except, y'know when I'm getting washed - don't wanna lose it down the drain. And if Dad's noticed it, he hasn't mentioned it."

Isaac nodded again, Miette's hand firmly planted in his. They walked until they got to a park. They picked up some feed for the ducks on a pond there and threw it to them until they had run out. They wandered around some more until time started to get on, and they returned to Miette's home.

"Oh good, you're back," Rowena said. "Mi, sweetie, can you help me get the table ready?"

"You getting dinner so soon?" Miette asked in surprise.

"Duke has his rehearsal tonight, remember?"

"Oh, yes I forgot."

"Can I be of any help?" Isaac offered.

"You're our guest. Don't be silly."

"Well, yes, but I am also a guest who you didn't exactly invite. I'd be happy to help."

"He does a lot of cooking at home," Miette reminded her mother with a small smile.

"Hmm, very well. This way then."

When Miette was done with the setting of the table, she sat at one of the stools at the bench to watch. Rowena was most delighted with the use of Isaac's telekinesis in the kitchen and later she pulled her daughter aside.

"Don't you let this one go," Rowena told her.

Miette smiled.

"Not planning to."
