Clark
It took Clark about five minutes to get to the Hanson's house from Smallville. He was getting rather good at flying now, actually, and he figured it might only take him 2 hours to get Ike to Miette's as long as Ike didn't get airsick. Clark knocked on the door, and Ike answered.
"Hey buddy, you ready to go?"
Isaac
Isaac stepped out.
"Sure am," he replied. "Bye guys! See you in a couple of days!"
He slung his back pack onto his back.
"Well," he said with a touch of nervousness. "I'l rady to go when you are."
Clark
"Dude, don't worry, I'm not going to tell anybody. Just put your arms around my neck like I'm giving you a piggy-back ride, and it might help if you wrapped your legs around my waist. We're just two friends, and if it helps, nobody has to know," Clark knew that the situation was awkrads, but if he was going to give Ike a ride, he had to be certain the older boy wouldn't wall off.
"And don't worry about hurting me, Like I said, two-ton truck."
Isaac
Isaac climbed on Clarks's back.
"Okay, I'm ready," he said.
Clark
Making sure Ike had a good grasp, Clark took off. He had memorized some maps earlier, and had apretty good idea of where he was headed.
"I almost forgot to ask, Ike, you do know where Miette lives, right?" Clark asked, as the wind rushed by their heads.
Isaac
"Don't worry, I got her address," he assured him.
Isaac had to shout over the wind. This was insane!
Clark
They soon settled into a steady lull, the wind music as it rushed by. Before too long, Clark set down at the outskirts of London.
"This is the town, right?"
Isaac
Isaac took a moment to get his baring, looked around and noticed a sign.
"Umm, yep, this is the place," he said.
He took off his back pack and pulled a map he had printed off the computer, along with the actual street address. He help the map so that Clark could see, and he checked the local street names.
"Okay," he said. "I think we're here. And Miette in on this street somewhere," he pointed.
Clark
They wondered around the streets for a little while, until they found the right house, knocking on the door, they waited for an answer.
Isaac and Miette
Rowena opened the door.
"Hello?" she frowned at the two boys.
"Umm, hi," Isaac said nervously, shofting the weight of his back pack. "I'm looking for Miette?"
Rowena turned her face.
"Miette!" She called. "Someone's here to see you!"
Miette hard the call can bounded down the stairs. She met her mother at the door, peered outside and...
"Ike!" she cried.
She wrapped her arms around him in a great big hug, and he hugged back, and gave her a kiss. They pulled apart at Rowena's purposely loud cough.
"Oh, sorry Mum," Miette said. "This is my boyfriend Ike - I told you about him, remmeber? And this is... Clark. I met him at the tournament. Sorry Clark, I couldn't remember your name there for a second."
Clark
"No problem Mi. I had the day off today, so I thought I'd give your boyfriend a lift before going to New York to visit Dawn. Hellow Mrs. Braddock," Clark said, extending his hand.
Miette and Isaac
"And thanks very much for the lift," Isaac said to Clark, beforin turning to the Braddocks. "You don't mind if I stay over this weekend?"
"What really?" Miette gasped. "Oh please, Mum, can he?"
"Well... he has come all this way to see you... but ahh... next time a little notice would be nice," Rowena replied. "You can stay in... in... in Oliver's room."
"Thanks," Isaac replied.
"Would you like to come in?"
Clark
"Sure," Clark replied.
"I have a question, though it may seem silly, what do you mean by saying you gave him a lift?" Rowena asked?
Laughing, Clark replied by levatating a few feet off the ground.
Miette and Isaac
Rowena clutched at her daughter, and then took a deep breath.
"I... I should get used to seeing such things," she laughed. "Oh dear... one of Spencer's daughters has Flight."
"Cathy," Miette supplied.
"Cathy, that's it. Lovely girl. Well, come in you two," and Rowena held the door open for them.
Isaac stepped inside, his hand holding Miette's.
Clark
Clark looked about the house, these people must have money. He was just a farmboy, so money wasn't something they'd ever had much of.
"This is a very nice house, ma'am."
Isaac and Miette
"Why, thank you," then Rowena caught a gimpse of something. "Duke Braddock! Get your clothes on this instance! We have guests!"
Miette looked embarrassed.
"Ahh, yes... the little brother who likes to dance nude in the house?" Isaac grinned.
"That would be him," Miette confirmed.
"Ahh, he'll get out of it."
"I sure hope so," Rowena replied. "So, would you to like something to eat? I imagine you mus be hungry after your flight."
Clark
Clark smiled, "I'm always hungry, ma'am." He looked about, this really was a very nice house, even with the little kid dancing naked in the living room.
Isaac and Miette
Rowena led them into the kitchen and started pulling out food.
"Sandwiches fine with everyone?" she asked.
"Sounds good to me," Isaac said.
"What's going on?" a voice demanded from behind.
"We have guests, honey," Rowena replied. "Ike and Clark."
"Ike's going to be staying with us a couple of days," Miette told her father quietly.
Sam walked over to Isaac and Clark and gave them both a good long hard stare.
"It's uhh, nice to meet you," Isaac said, breaking the ice and holding out his hand.
Sam ignored it.
Clark
Clark decided that after all he'd heard, he was going to talk to Sam. This guy needed to see what he was doing.
"Hey Ike, have you ever noticed how most Europeans say that Americans are unbelievably rude?" he asked his friend loudly. "Well, I was always taught that it was polite to answer people, and to shake hands when thei're being introduced. Let's try this again," Clark looked at Sam with his 'I'm strong enough to snap you in half' look.
"Hi, I'm Clark Kent, I just camer all t he way from Tulsa so that your daughter could spend some time with her boyfriend, and it's nice to meet you," he said, holding out his hand and grasping Sam's, with a bit of a struggle.
Miette
After getting his hand free from Clark, Sam looked at Miette (who was chewing her lip nervously) and hlowered at Isaac.
"Boyfriend?" He turned back to Miette. "I didn't know you had a boyfriend!"
"That's because you've been living in the dark. A little hermit, that's what you've become," Rowena put in. "My goodness, with all this alien stuff going on, anyone would think you were the human member of this marriage."
"Alien! So, you two are aliens?" Sam demanded.
"Yes, they are," Miette cut in. "Ike is a Dathrian too, and Clark is a Krytonian."
"No such thing."
Clark
"Actually, there is," Clark said. "I am the last surviving citizen of the planet Krypton, and am, therefore, Kryptonian. Because of the single, yellow sun, I am indestructible. How do you think Clark got here in 2 hours? I flew him here." In the blink of an eye, Clark was at the other end of the room. Then he returned, and then he flew up to the ceiling, and touched back down.
"So," he said, picking Sam up by his collar, "Id suggest you respect your family and not call your daughter a liar, or talk back to your wife, while I'm around. You see, I'm a very old-fashioned guy, I believed that women should be respected, at all times," Clark practically growled, while at the same time remaining cheerful, which is a rather difficulkt task.
Miette and Isaac
Sam glared at Clark and then he turned to Miette.
"Did I call you a liar? No I think not! You could not have lied to me because no one ever talks to me any more! What am I? Invisible? And you!" he pointed his finger at Clark. "You'd better hope I never see you in this house again."
Sam stormed from the room. Miette winced.
"Oh I wish you hadn't done that. Now he's going to be a sook for the rest of the day."
"Too bad," Rowena said. "He should learn to grow up. I don't want to have to look after two babies."
"Two babies?" Miette repeated, staring. "Mum! You're not... you're not..."
"As a matter of fact, I am," Rowena smiled.
"Does Dad know?"
"Ha!"
"Well, congratulation, Mrs Braddock," Isaac said.
"Thank you. And please, call me Rowena."
Clark
Clark grinned. "You and my mother both!" he said. "What is it with women having babies after their children are all grown up?" he laughed.
"And as for Mr. Braddock, if he doesn't come around, well, he'll come around," Clark said, sounding a lot more sincere than he felt. Sam probvably would never come around.
Miette and Isaac
Rowena laughed.
"So, boys, what would you like on your sandwiches? Butter or margarine? Lettue, tomato, cheese," Rowena listed off a few things.
"All of those sound good," Isaac grinned, "with some butter, thank you."
"Certainly. And you Clark?"
"Here, I'll help you, Mum," Miette said.
"Thank you sweetie."
Clark
Clark laughed, "Put on anything you got, I'll eat anything. Actaully, cheese and cucumber is fine with me."
Isaac and Miette
"No problem. And how many sanwiches would you like? 1? 2?"
"Two, if I may," Isaac said. "If it isn't a problem..."
"No problem at all. Growing boys need to eat. Healthy food preferably," Rowena smiled.
"My Mom would agree with you," Isaac grinned.
Miette finished making the first sandwich and passed it to Isaac.
"There you go," she said cheerfully.
"Thanks," he replied, and kissed her cheek.
"Ahh, it so nice to finally have a gentleman around here," Rowena said. "And I'm counting Jason. even though he doesn't live here any more. Haven't heard his say a few polite words in awhile."
She smiled softly.
"I like Cathy, but I'm really glad she said 'no' to him. Jason needs to learn a few things about treating women before he deserves someone like her. You should see his flat, Ike. Shares it with two other boys and it's always a complete mess. I know they had a couple of girls living there at one point but..."
"They drove them out," Miette giggled. "The mess drove them nuts and they got sick of cleaning up all the time, so they left."
Isaac laughed.
"Well, you'll never have to worry about that with me," Isaac smiled. "I'm telekinetic. Putting things away is good exercise."
"Ahh," Rowena answered. "Here you are Clark."
Clark
"Thank you very much, ma'am," he said, hungrily eating it. "Well, I suppose I should be going soon, Dawn's awaiting for me at the mansion."
"Mansion?" Rowena asked, intrigued.
"Yeah, her cousin is all that's left in her family, and he teaches at a private school for mutants. My girlfriend, Dawn, isn't technically a mutant, but she's not exactly human either, so she's living there. Wer actually met online, like Ike and Miette did."
Isaac
"I see," Rowena replied. "Well it was nice meeting you."
"And thanks for the lift," Isaac said.
Clark
"No problem," Clark said, and he took off, literally.
