15 March 2003 - Walking in the Woods

Nathan and Cain

Nathan slipped out of the Mansion's walls, quickly heading towards the gate and going out. He stretched, mind aching from the constant contact with mutants, and all the other people in there. At least Chelsea was doing better then he had. She had a grip that her talent couldn't seem to shake, and she was even managing to control the headaches. He disappeared into the woods.

He walked around for a while, not even needing to sing or shuffle his cards as he watched the gentle glow of plants and small animals just living. Then he caught the scent of something dead. Breathing shallowly, he headed towards it, and stopped, utterly horrified, at the edge of a small clearing. He thought it had been a dog, before it had been torn into pieces. Anger and a furious crazy hatred blasted him from the scene and one hand went to his head as he closed his eyes. A dark blood red pulsed sullenly over the clearing, not even broken by the sunlight. Nathan felt like vomiting.

Cain stretched slowly, licking lazily at the dried blood on his hands as he woke up. Pity he hadn't been able to catch one of those girls. That would've made all the X-men cry and wail and weep. Children always seemed to get a bigger reaction, for some strange reason. He stiffened as he felt somone enter the clearing and opened his eyes to see a slight man with brown hair on the other side, one hand at his head and his eyes closed as if in pain. Mutant! Cain growled in satisfaction and stealthily set off. He could make this one *hurt*.

Nathan opened his eyes again, and saw a flicker of movement to the side, but what alerted him was the aura crawling aliong the other mutant's skin. So angry, and that particular shade of blood red that meant a physcopath. Nathan knew he was in trouble if the guy caught him, so he turned quickly on his heel and fled.

Cain howled as the man ran, and bit down on his lip, sending blood through his mouth. His talent flared and the familair rush raced through his system as he leapt after his prey. Damn the consequences, he'd been balked once already.

Nathan ran, blood roaring in his ears and panting harshly as he raced for the open gate in the walls surronding the School. His clairvoyance yelled at him, and he dodged, letting Cain fall to the ground beside him as the mutant lunged. Nathan kept running as Cain picked himself off the ground, spitting out dirt and felt the anger behind him reach a crescendo of burning that made Nathan scream in agony. Head split with a blinding headache, Nathan stumbled inside the walls and pawed weakly at the lock as he tried to close the gate. Cain burst it in with his shoulder, sending the smaller man flying as the bloodfrenzy crazed mutant gained entrance to the School.

Nathan clawed at his head as the burning settled in behind his eyes. Cain stalked over to him, picked him up by the scruff of the neck and shook him violently. Nathan screamed asthe angerhatefrenzy pulsed through him, sending his headache into agonizing levels he hadn't reached before. He couldn't even look at the mutant. Cain growled and threw Nathan from him. Nathan hit a basketballhoop's pole with a crack and dropped to the ground, moaning. Cain laughed in glee and walked deliberatly towards his prey.

"I'd forgotten how good it is to play..."

Nyx, Logan, Mordred, Cain

Nyx leapt to her feet, looking worried. "Something's breached my circle. Someone let something in." Logan looked at her and the twins stopped talking. "Something bad." Mordred put his hand out.

"Where to?"

"Basketball court. Me and Logan. Hurry." Mordred nodded and put a hand on them as requested, and 'ported. They appeared just in time to see Nathan being flung around and the tall man with black hair stalk towards him, whispering something. Nyx leapt at him with a growl, claws outstretched and Logan wasn't far behind.

Cain turned and laughed in delight. Someone was going to try and fight him! "Come to Cain." He recieved a growl of fury in reply as the woman's body slammed into him, sending flaring pain through his chest. Yes! He bit down on her shoulder, fangs savaging her white skin. Oh, the blood! She cried out as he raised his now bloodstained mouth and grinned at her. "Isn't this fun?"

Nyx could see the clear light of madness shining in his eyes and groaned as his arms clenched around her in a bearhug. He was stronger then she had expected. And her shoulder hurt like mad. He wasn't a vampire, or a demon, or anything like that. What the hell was he? A mutant? She brought her knee up to his groin and didn't recieve even a flicker of pain. "What are you?"

"I'm cursed with my brothers blood!" Cain laughed and then bit down on her throat, ripping her vocal chords. He liked a bit of conversation, but this was getting boring.

"NYX!" Logan yelled as Cain let the catwoman's body slip to the ground. He started beating up on Cain, who just stood there and took it. "What did you do to her?"

"Killed her. Hopefully. You next, X-man?" Cain decided to fight back, and with one punch he sent Logan flying. "I'd forgotten how much fun this could be. I haven't had this much fun since I killed my family. Of course, I'm not gonna get any looks of shocked betrayal, but...this works too." Cain advanced on Logan.

Mordred, Cain, Logan, Nyx and Nathan

Mordred ran to Nathan's crumpled body, put a hand on him and teleported, but not before Cain dropped Nyx's body. He reappeared in the medical facilties and dumped Nathan on a bed before teleporting out again. Nyx. He dropped to his knees beside her, noticing almost numbly the blood spilled over her shirt and the glazed look in her eyes. And then she moaned, the sound making its way through her throat. Mordred shook off his paralysis and ported them both to the medroom. "Fix her," he ordered Jean, then 'ported once more.

Cain looked up as Mordred punched him, and grinned. "Little boy, you'd better run."

"GONNA BLOODY KILL YOU!" Mordred howled, punching and kicking Cain.

"People have tried, but hey. Still here. They would have suffered the Curse of Cain if they had." Cain sent Mordred flying but the teen 'ported before he hit the ground and landed on his feet next to Cain, hitting and punching. Logan dove back in with a growl as Mordred teleported and Cain howled in frustration as he couldn't manage to lay a hand on the little brat. He flung Logan off him again, not taking any notice of the deep clawmarks that seeped blood. "Stay still, dammit!"

Rogue

Naturally curious by the commontion of having Mordred put not one, but two badly injured bodies into the infirmary, Rogue headed outside to see if she could find where they were. Perhaphs not the wisest thing to do, but still, curiosity was curiosity.

Chelsea, Cain, Logan and Mordred

Chelsea had curled up in a little ball, hands pressed to the sides of her head and moaning constantly. Whatever it was that was out there, the Perceptive talented mutant couldn't handle it. She felt, toked at her and the twins stopp rather then heard the shocked voices of her classmates, their emotions running high and making the pain worse. Tears of pain started to roll down her face.

~*~*~*~

Logan drove his claws right through Cain's body, and was shocked as the man just grinned at him, and forced the claws further in, laughing all the while. "What the hell are you, bub?"

"Mutant. I'm Frenzy. And you'd be Wolverine. Pity Magneto didn't kill you." Cain twisted his hand and broke Logan's wrist. Logan growled, and then cried out in pain as Cain pushed him away and he caught himself on the broken wrist by accident. Cain stood over him, face slightly blissful as he looked around, and then Cain managed to catch Mordred and knocked him to the ground, dazed and dizzy. "You annoy me." Cain knelt beside Mordred and raised his head, mouth open and fangs bared. Logan barelled into the insane mutant, pushing him away from Mordred.

"Run!"

"Wise advice. Why don't you?"

Logan, Cain and Mordred

"I don't run," Logan growled, feeling the bones of his hand start to knit together. Cain grinned unpleasantly.

"Good. Then means I don't havta chase you. And that always makes me angrier." Logan watched Mordred disappear with a sense of relief, then was brought back to earth with a crash as he remembered how very stupid it was to stop focusing on an oppenent. Cain drove a slim knife through Logan's stomach, and twisted. Logan howled. Cain laughed, eyes gleaming with pleasure. "But you've alread made me plenty angry already, so the quick bite and rip the girl got, you ain't getting." He withdrew the knife, then drove it back in, holding Logan in an obscene mockery of a friendly embrace.

"I will kill you," Logan said through gritted teeth, and then flipped Cain over his shoulder in a Judo throw. He pulled the knife out of his stomach, then slumped to the ground, dizzy with bloodloss.

"So many people say that. You know, my father said that right before I tore his throat out?"

"You're insane."

"Think of me as Hannibal Lecter with a few advantages." Cain grinned, the fangs distorting his smile into something purely predatory. Logan thought frantically about how to keep the guy talking so he could heal a bit more.

Logan and Cain

"Hannibal Lecter was smart. You ain't," Logan said, and then he knew he'd struck a nerve as Cain's face whitened. "You're stupid. Coming to the school like this?"

"What can I say? I needed a little blood and violence. It's been so long since I killed another mutant. She was an empath. I drove her mad by torturing small animals where she could feel them." Cain's lips curved upwards as he remembered. "She screamed, and screamed, and screamed."

"You're sick."

"Only by your standards." Cain was bored, and he didn't want to kill the mutant in front of him. He strode towards the school's open doors. "I think having you live with yourself after I kill a few students will be amusing." Logan struggled to his feet and dove at Cain.

"No!" Cain reached around and backhanded Logan casually, sending the shorter man flying.

"I think the correct answer would be yes." Cain walked into the school, ignoring the whispers that asked him who he was and what he was doing. Secure in the grip of his bloodfrenzy and his insanity, he kicked open a door with his foot and snarled as he discovered it empty. "Isn't anyone coming to play? I'm borr-reed." He walked on. Logan limped after him, panting as his abused body fought to heE at her and the twins stoppl the mess Cain's knife had made of his insides. "Bored, bored, bored! I wanna see some blood."

Rogue

Rogue came around the corner to see an injuried Logan (but not for long) following a blood covered man with a crazed look in his eye. She started backing away but she knew she had well and truly been scene. Unconciously she started to pull off her gloves.

Chelsea, Nathan and Nyx

Chelsea moaned as the whatever made its way up the corridor. She looked up at the class. "Hide. Run and hide. It's coming. Angry and crazy and bloodlusting. Be quiet, or he'll hear us." She cowered away into a corner, eyes closed again and moaning with fear.

~*~*~*~

Nathan arched his body off the bed and screamed as he watched the vision play over the back of his eyelids. Blood. Pain. Screaming. Flames. Death, death, death. "The blood running through the halls as the beast enters the gates. A darkness rises and shadows fall over faces long seen. Oh god! Save them, you havta save them! He's hunting! And blood on his mouth and on his hands! He's under the Mark of Cain! Brotherblood weeps from the earth, crying out to God..." Nathan started beating his head against the wall near his bed and continued to cry out as Jean rushed over and restrained him. "He's inside! Save the students!"

Nyx was comatose on the bed near him, white bandages wrapping her throat and eyes closed. The healing would take a long time, even with her magick running through her veins.

Logan and Cain

"Oh, look!" Cain grinned in pleasure. "Someone came out to play. Should I snap her neck, or slit her throat?"

"Don't you dare touch her," Logan snarled, then grunted in pain as Cain turned around and threw him into a wall.

"Tsk, tsk. You broke a vase. So, girlie, how do you wanna die? I might even do it the way you choose, or not." Cain advanced on Rogue. "Nice streak, by the way. I wonder how it will look covered in blood?"

Rogue

"I, ahh... would rather not die," Rogue replied.

She gulped. There was nowhere else to go now. She could only hope that her power would jump in before he killed her.

Nathan

Nathan screamed. "Don't touch him! Don't! He'll drag you down with him into the darkness! You have to go and make sure she doesn't touch him!" He glared at Jean and tugged at the restraints holding to the bed. "I'm clairvoyant, you stupid woman. I don't want what I just saw to come true. Get upstairs, and stop her!"

Logan and Cain

Cain chuckled, and stopped walking. "Pity for you that isn't an option. But I like your style. Tell you what, I'll make it quick." He flashed his fangs at her and grabbed her by the upper shoulders, leaning in for the bite. And then his lips touched her skin. He froze as his life bled away into her, as her blood filled his mouth. Inside his head, he laughed. The Mark of Cain. She'd have it now, maybe not branded onto her forehead but seared indelibably in her mind. He'd settle for that, he shrugged and bit deeper.

"Rogue!" Logan cried out and Cain shook him off irritably, like a bull would twitch a muscle to rid itself of a fly. Stupid clawed mutant. And then the claws slid through his back into his stomach. The bloodfrenzy left him and he slumped to his knees, head against Rogue's stomach for a moment before Logan pulled him away violently. He lay there on the floor, bleeding now as his talent deserted him, and felt the professor moE at her and the twins stoppve into his mind.

I nearly beat you there. Cain thought triumphantly, and then blacked out.

Logan picked Rogue up, careful even now not to touch her skin and ran for the infirmary.

Rogue

Rogue screamed as she felt the bloodfrenzy fill her. Fangs grew from her mouth and she scratched at Logan.

"Put me down!" she shrieked. "I'll kill you! I'll kill you!"

She struggled and wriggled in his grip, banged her fists against his back and then struck out with her fangs...

Nathan and Logan

Logan hissed in pain and kept running. What the hell? And then he stumbled when she bit him. Oh no, not again, was his thought as he fell into unconsciousness.

~*~*~*~

Downstairs, Nathan raged at Jean. "He bit her, and now she's mad! She took him in and he's inside her mind, filling her with fenzy! You fool! Fool!" He bucked against the restraints. "Do you want blood on your hands? You need to go upstairs!"

Rogue

Rogue ripped herself away from Logan. The little cow! How dare he touch her in that manner?

She jerked. There were more coming. Her lips twisted into a crooked smile. Good. There was lots more fun to be had today.

Chelsea and Vortigern

Chelsea screamed. "She touched him and brought the darkness in! Ah, I can't stand it! My head!" She had retreated to the corner of the room farthest from the direction of Rogue and looked up at the teacher, Hank McCoy. "It's Rogue. Quick, you have to go and stop her before she kills someone, cos she will. She has the bloodfrenzy and it will drive her mad."

~*~*~*~

Vortigern stepped out of the room, and looked around. Ok, two bodies on the floor. And blood. He looked up at Rogue. "What's going on? I'll go get Jean, cos even if Logan doesn't need it really, the other guy will."

Nathan

Nathan moaned. "Clouding her mind, it will be. Like dark and heady wine as she contemplates the bringing of death. A dark and strong vintage that she will drink till the world falls into pieces around her. And she won't care. The bloodfrenzy gripping her deep. Ah no! The one who slides by the shadows! He'll die, he'll die, he'll die..." Nathan knew Jean wasn't really listening to him anymore, she didn't understand. He couldn't make her see. For a telepath, she was an idiot.

Rogue

Rogue stared at Vortigern with a twisted expression on her face and lunged towards him. Two seconds before she touched him, however, the fangs started to deform and she fell to her knees, shaking, tears starting to drip down her face.

"Oh man, oh man," she sobbed. "He's mad, he's completely mad! Get out of my head! Get out of my head! Oh man..."

She could say no more, she simply wept bitter tears.

Cain

Cain roused slightly on the floor and with an effort, induced the bloodfrenzy. "Oh, looky who's not dead," he croaked. "What the hell did you do to me, little girl?" He got to his feet and snarled in her face. "Cos, I didn't like it." He towered over her and amde to grab her shoulders, but dropped his hands. "Cry, girlie, cry. Tears taste nearly as good as blood to me. So, what have we here? More playmates. Oh, fun." He left Rogue on the floor and advanced towards Vortigern, who backed away, then vanished. "Come back here!" Cain shouted angrily, and then his expression changed. He sniffed. "I can smell your fear, boy."

moE at her and the twins stopp Vortigern backed away, not wanting to leave Rogue but getting rather afraid now. He tried to enter Cain's mind, but couldn't find anything to hold onto.

Cain followed Vortigern's progress, eyes unerringly on him despite his invisibility. "Fear smells so good. But before this guy wakes up and ruins my fun, *again*..." Cain bent down and twisted Logan's head sharply to the side. A sharp crack as Cain broke Logan's neck, and then Cain let the man's head drop to the floor. "He keeps trying to ruin all my fun." Cain stalked after Vortigern, ignoring the weeping Rogue.

Nathan

Nathan didn't even bother to scream anymore as he slowly and carefully called Jean every horrible name he could think of, mainlly relating to her intelligence. His head was throbbing and he coughed hard, feeling the blood hit his lips and then went back to cursing at Jean, who had left the room but not to do as he wanted. He coughed again, harsh and hacking, feeling blood well into his mouth. He spit it out and returned to his new favourite pasttime.

Rogue

Rogue looked up at him through her tears, and then screamed at Vortigern.

"Get away from him! He's insane! He'll kill you. He'll kill us all!"

With an effort she pulled herself up, every limb shaking uncontrollably.

"I absorb people's life force. I did it to you. I have your memories inside my head. I borrowed your powers. I don't want to, but I swear, if you don't stop I'll... I'll do it again. I'll hold on so long it kills you!" She started shreeching again. "You understand me? I'll kill you. I'll kill you even if it kills me too!"

Bobby

Bobby saw Rogue leaving and decided to follow after her, hoping at least to find out what was happening, and if the need arose, he could help her.

Storm

Storm stepped into the room and saw Jean standing shocked. "Jean, what's wrong? What's happened?"

She went over to Jean and put a hand on her shoulder. "Jean, talk to me."

Cain

Cain laughed in delight. "Give into it. Man, I'm feeling good today, Killed somebody," he kicked Logan's body disdainfully, "maybe two people, and I've sent your world to hell." He chuckled evilly. "I think that your death while fun, will be nowhere near as amusing as watching you live with me in your head. Be seeing you. I'm sure there's more people in here I can maim." He flipped the knife into his hand, and turned to walk off, then spun on his heel and threw it. It thunked into Vortigern's chest, and he shimmered into sight, gasping for breath, eyes round with pain and shock as he dropped to the floor. "Him, for example. Be seeing you, girlie." Cain started to walk off again.

Nyx and Nathan

"She's an idiot! That's what's wrong! That, that beast is up there and she'll have touched him by now, and there's going to be a lot of blood and death!" Nathan shouted angrily, pulling at his restraints again and hissing in pain as the cloth rubbed against his now abraded skin. "Stupid, stupid woman!"

Nyx was still out for the count.

Nathan, Mordred, Voertigern and Cain

Mordred went to his knees as his twin's shock vibrated through him. "NNOOOOOOO!" He ported on instinct, dropping to his knees beside Vortigern who was trying to breathe, turning blue and coughing up blood. "VORT!"

"Aw, look, it's the little teleporter," Cain said with a sneer.

Mordred shE at her and the twins stoppook with anger, and looked at Cain with hate turning his eyes to ice. "I'm gonna kill you."

"Yada, yada, yada. You're all talk, you X-men." Mordred didn't even deign to answer as he teleported Vortigern to somewhere he was seeing far too often. The infirmary.

Nathan cried out as the pain lashed through him from the twins. "I TOLD YOU!" He screamed. "I saw it, you fool!"

Mordred put Vortigern on the bed gently and turned to Jean, eyes dead with pain. "I can't, can't, oh god..." Jean had stepped into doctor mode and started helping Vortigern as Mordred collapsed shaking on the floor. "Oh god."

Cain, Chelsea and Logan

Chelsea screamed, trying to physically merge with the wall as the telepaths burnt through her skull.

Outside, Cain's head went up and he looked around in interest. A scream? He headed towards it, and kicked open the door. A red headed girl was sobbing on the floor across the room from him, a big blue furry guy was standing there and there were lots of students. A positively evil smirk spread across his bloodstained mouth. "Oh, now this is too good."

"Run! Run! He'll kill you!" Chelsea shrieked in fear.

"And someone give the little girl a star. She's got it right." Cain stepped into the room. "The name is Frenzy, or Cain. Who wants to die first?" He laughed maniacally, and cracked his knuckles. "Three is too little. Let's add a few more to my body count." He stiffened as adamantium claws sliced through his back, and collapsed, not feeling pain but snarling as his legs refused to hold him up. A battered, bleeding Logan stood over his prone form, claws still unsheathed.

"Not happening, bub." He looked down at Cain, and then kicked him in the side of the head. Cain glared up at him.

"She's infected by me now. The Mark of Cain is seared on her mind. She'll never be rid of me, that girl. Even if you kill me now, I live on in her. I wonder how long it will take before you look in her eyes and see me staring back?"

"Shut up." Logan looked up. "Is everyone alright?"

"I think everyone is fine, except for Chelsea."

"Get him away from me, and I'll be a bunnying sight finer!"

"Done." Logan bent down and started to drag Cain out by his feet, the pyschopath spitting and cursing as his legs still refused to function. "Shut up."

"Make me, you weak, spineless do gooder!" Cain spat through his fangs. "You should be dead! I broke your bloody neck!"

"Yeah, well, we don't alays get what we wish for."

Rogue

Everytime Rogue absorbed someone she felt like a little piece of her got chipped away. So many voices inside her head. David, Logan, Bobby, Magneto, John, those two guys from the alley, Cain now, and numerous others. Would it never end? Would one morning she wake up to find that she is everyone and no one? To no longer be herself. Rogue. Was this the stuff multiple personaility disorders were made of? She thought so. Except, she would be multiple personailites. And would there, in amongst all those people, be Rogue?

She watched Logan deal with Cain. No one before had been insane. There had been many other people, but not one of them insane.

Did she truly have the strength to survive the battle within?

Storm

Storm rushed forward to Mordred and lifted him up.

"Mordred, listen to me... Vortigern is going to be alright, ok? We're going to look after him and he's going to be alright. Trust me."

Mordred and Nathan

Mordred wrE at her and the twins stoppapped his arms around Storm and cried into her hair. It was all too much. Vort had only really just started to recover from the gunshot wound. And now this. Why was he never bloody *there*?! "He, oh god, Storm, why?"

"Because Jean is a bloody fool of a woman!" Nathan shouted, blood slicking the cloth restraints so he could slide his hands out of them. "Bugger listening to the one who can see the bloody future!" He sat up and undid the restraints on his ankles. He paused at Nyx's side and hesitantly touched her face. She smiled slightly in her healing sleep and Nathan grinned. At least someone was gonna be alright. Hands to his head as he stumbled into the room. "Anybody got some very powerful painkillers? My head is about to explode."

Storm

Storm let him fall into her arms. She patted him awkwardly on the head.

"Shooosh, everything's ok. Jean's going to fix this, aren't you?" Storm shot a pointed look towards Jean as she nodded numbly.

Mordred and Nathan

"I can't, I can't," Mordred sobbed. Nathan grimaced.

"Painkillers, please?" Jean pinted at a cupboard and Nathan staggered over to it and opened it. Jean was working quickly, and she looked up.

"I need some blood. What's his bloodtype?"

"B positive," Mordred gasped out.

"Storm, a thing of blood, IV line, and so on. He's losing blood fast." Jean had gotten the knife out by now.

Mordred let go of Storm. "Help her help him." Nathan gulped three of the powerful painkillers dry, then curled up in a corner to wait for them to take effect.

Storm

Storm ran into the next room and retrieved the blood and the rest of the things she was asked for. She connected the bag with the IV line carefully and handed it to Jean.

"Here, careful."

Mordred and Nathan

"Always." Jean inserted the syringe into Vortigern's arm and bent back to her task. Nathan was eyeing Mordred warily.

"Don't even think it."

"Think what?"

"You're not going to go and get yourself killed."

"And why the hell not?"

"Cos when kitty back there breaks up and finds the two of you dead because you went and got yourself killed, all hell's gonna break loose. So. Stay."

"I'm not a dog."

"Glad to hear it. Stay there."

Storm

Storm eyed Jean as she helped Vortigern.

"Still fighting up there? I should go help."

Storm made no move to leave, instead she went back to watching Jean. She shook her head and went to the doorway. "I'll be back soon."

Cain and Logan

Cain laughed as he caught Rogue's eyes. "You know, I really look forward to watching you all die. You're marked now. Can you feel me in your head, feel the joy at bringing others deaths?" He continued to laugh even as Logan kicked him hard.

"You don't talk to her!"

"Even when I'm silent, I'm talking to her. She's branded. Brotherblood on your hands!"

Nathan

"Ok, electric girl," Nathan said agreeably. "I'll just stay here and watch the greiving brother."

"Sod off."

"Always so succint?"

"Shut up."

"I think the fighting's mostly died down. But go. You can probably help."

Bobby

Bobby stepped forward to where Rogue and Logan were.

"Leave her alone."

Bobby brought his hands out in front of him and watched as the icy wind flowed out from them and surrounded Cain.

Storm

Storm nodded at Nathan and ran to find the rest of the X-Men. She could hear Bobby, Logan and Rogue, and there were other voices of whom she was not sure who they were.

Cain and Logan

Cain glared from his icy prison as the ice built up. "You're the same as me, deep down. I'm just more honest." The ice covered his mouth and he tried to bite down on it, growls reverberating through his chest.

"Good one. I don't like listening to that kinda filth. You ok, kid?" Logan asked Rogue.

Bobby and Storm

Bobby let his hands fall just as Storm came running out to join them.

She stopped short at the sight of Cain trapped inside the icy cage. She went over to her friends.

"Is everything ok? Rogue, Logan, Bobby?"

Logan, Cain and Chelsea

"I will be," Logan said shortly. He could msucles and skin knitting together, and his neck was still very sore.

Cain glared at them from his cage and Logan knew if the man could get out, he;d rip them to pieces with his bare hands. Chelsea staggered out, hands to her head.

"Make him stop. Oh god." She fell to her knees, and Cain's eyes gleamed with amused triumph. He didn't know how, but he was hurting this girl. Good.

Bobby

Bobby reinforced the icy cage once more, bringing his arms out and letting the wind flow from the palms of his hands.

"It's ok, it'll be ok." He told Chelsea.

Cain and Chelsea

"Oh god. He's like a rabid wolf. Someone, just kill him, please," Chelsea gritted out.

Cain grinned, even behind the ice. Damn, but he was good. Slightly frozen but he still managed to have fun. He turned up on his anger and was rewarded with a scream. Oh. Fun. He did it again, adding in some bloodlust. More screaming. Very fun indeed.

Storm

Storm went over to Chelsea. "It's ok, don't worry, we'll deal with him."

She glared towards the cage, ready to fight if the need arose.

Cain, Chelsea and Logan

Cain smiled and reached deep into himself and *blasted* the room with his hatred. Chelsea screamed once more, arched her back, and went limp in a huddled heap on the floor. Don't play with the wolves, cos they'll eat you alive. Cain clenched his shoulders together and then flung his arms outward. The ice broke with a shattering crash and he laughed wildly as he then managed to free a foot. "Payback is a bitch." He gathered his strangth and leapt at Bobby, hands crooked into claws and fangs out. Logan reached a hand out and brought the berserker up short. "You don't even have the decency to stay dead! You ruin all my fun!" Cain growled and swung wildly at Logan.

"Good." Logan drove his claws through Cain's body. Cain used the space gained to sink his fangs into Logan's neck. Logan grunted, then twisted. Cain brought his knee up and slammed Logan in the crotch. Logan's face set like rock. Cain suddenly had the feeling that he'd done something very very stupid...

Logan threw Cain across the hallway with a snarl, and the psychopath went through a wall. Cain scrambled to his feet and decided that he'd continue this another time. But not before he killed at least one person. He ran and reached out casually to a frightened student, snapping her neck. "Present for ya! See ya round, X-men!" He called back, and then put all his efforts to getting the hell out of there. Logan ran after him, not sparing a glance for the body of the fallen girl. He had to catch Cain.

Storm and Bobby

"Don't worry Logan, he won't get far." Storm felt the anger inside her well up over the fear she felt inside. She lifted her arms out to her sides and began to manipulate the weather so that a snow storm began to form around Cain, trapping him so he knew not where to go. Her eyes went white and she rolled her neck.

"Bobby, Rogue, go!"

Bobby wasted no time in running after Logan and Cain, hoping if Rogue was following she'd be alright.

Rogue

Rogue started walking back into the hall, so much in a daze she didn't even notice her gloves lying on the floor.

She walked to her room and closed the door, half fighting the voices in her head, half not caring if they did take her over. She laid on the bed and closed her eyes.

"Oooh," she said suddenly and opened them.

Liberty had jumped onto her. Her furryness had tickled.

"Liberty?" she smiled.

Liberty bounded over to Rogue's face and snuggled against her cheek. Rogue gave her a very soft pat with two of her fingers and soon the two were asleep.

Cain and Logan

"Aw, dammit!" Cain cursed sincerely and started crawling through on his hands and knees, shivering with cold. He found a door, and opened it, praising his luck as he entered a room paved with concrete. He could make out the dark hulks of vehicles through the swirling snow and stood up beside a motorbike. Now, with just a bit of time, he could hotwire and get out before they realised he had transport. He had started to come down now, and he hurt. His now cooly calculating mind knew if he could get to a hopsital in half an hour, he might end up not actually dying. He laughed in trimuph as the engine roared into life under his talented hands and he wheeled it over to the door. One more burst of bloodfrenzy and he'd clawed a hole through it big enough to fit the bike through. He rolled back a few steps, stepped on it, gunned the motor and sent it screaming at the gap, hunched down over the handlebars. He raced out into the snow, hoping that that gate was till open.

Logan growled and he batted at the snow that clouded his vision. Useful stuff, but not when he was chasing a guy through it. He battled on.

Dawn

Dawn saw the man about to leave through the front gate, and she called upon Janusz to turn the bike around. As he was thrown from his bike, she stood in front of him.

"You hurt my friends." she growled. "Come on, dontcha wanna cut me, too? I bet you'd like to see what MY blood can do," she taunted him.

Logan and Cain

Cain picked himself off the ground, slowly, painfully. "I don't cut, little girl. I bite." He shook himself into the bloodfrenzy and lunged at her neck. His fangs sliced through her skin and he tasted her blood for an instant before he was thrown backwards. He scrambled away into the darkness, clutching his stomach. Damn the X- men!

Logan panted up to Dawn's side. "Which way did he go?"

Dawn

Dawn ran her fingers through her blood and smiled. "Thank you Mr. Man. 'cause now you've screwed yourself. My blood is still on you." Dawn called out for Janusz, as well as calling out for Willow. She began the spell that Willow had taught her, shouting the last line. "Hold my victim, as in tar!"

Cain and Logan

Cain cursed vehmently as his limbs refused to work. Damn these X- men! What powers did they have to hold him prisoner like this?

"Thanks, Dawn." Logan grinned at her and followed the sounds of Cain's cursing.

"I'm gonna rip your throat out! I'm gonna kill you all!" Cain screamed angrily at Logan as the stocky mutant approached him. "I am going to enjoy killing you all so much! Pain! There will be much pain, and I will eat your hearts in front of your eyes!"

"Whatever, bub." Logan punched Cain in the jaw and the berserker fell into unconsiousness. He hefted Cain over his shoulder and started back. "What say we get inside and get Jean to patch him up so we can find out what we can?"

Dawn

"You don't wanna mess with a daughter of Janusz, especially when he dotes on me the way he does." She held out two fingers and liced through the air. An invisible knife cut through his shirt and his skin, cutting an 'X' across his torso.

"Never mess with the Key," she hissed.

Logan and Cain

"We do want him to stay live until we find out what he came for, Dawn," Logan pointed out. He shifted Cain slightly as the mutant moaned and moved a bit. "We'll send him into Jean and get him pumped full of tranks. And then we need to check on Vort." Even if he didn't like the kid over much, he had taken a knife to the chest.

Dawn

"Okay, let's go then," Dawn said as she followed them down into Med bay.

Logan and Mordred

Logan turned Cain over to Jean, who quickly chained the nutant's arms and legs down, with a strap around his middle and restraining his head for good measure, then started to work. Vortigern was stable, so she could leave him for the moment and get started on this one. "You'll be alright, Logan?"

"In a bit. How are ya holding up, kid?" Logan asked Mordred who was sitting by his brother's bedside. Mordred nodded, eyes fixed on Vortigern's pale face.

Dawn

Dawn looked around. "Has anybody seen Rogue? What happened to her? And how's Nathan? Is he gonna be okay?"

Chelsea, Nathan and Logan

Chelsea was asleep in a bed, and Nathan looked up from his place at her side. "I'm fine. Will be fine. Told you, you stupid woman what was happening. But now the girl has him in her soul. A bit more darkness in her, clouding her mind." Chelsea stirred slightly and he placed a cool hand on her forehead. She quietened. "I merely hope all my work has no been undone in this one."

"Oh god," Mordred sighed. "What the hell is he, anyway?" He glared at Cain's comatose body.

"A mutant. He said his name was Cain, or Frenzy. Whatever his power is, it made him very strong. He even took out Nyx. And he caught some poor girl and broke her neck." Logan shook his head.
