5 March 2003 - Getting Some Assistance

Christian

Christian pouted as he pulled up at the small airport. Craig had introduced him long ago to the owner, a telepath himself. He and Christian had got on well ever since, and he'd rung just hours before asking for a flight to Toronto. The pilot agreed to fly him, as he had some stolen goods for the Spider anyway.

Getting out of the car, Christian looked around for them. Making his way up to the small building, he rang the bell before stepping inside.

"It's a bit late, isn't it?" came the owner's voice from behind the counter, before he looked up.

"Christian?"

He nodded.

"Hey! Good to see you finally! I thought you weren't gonna make it until tomorrow morning..."

"Yeah, well, I picked up a bit of speed on the way here," he grinned.

"Sure, sure man. I'll just get the pilot for you. You'll be flying in that girl out there if you don't mind," he pointed out a small white plane on the tarmac with edges of light blue.

"She's fine," he shrugged.

"She's actually the only one we have in service at the moment. The rest are in the works," the owner shrugged, disappearing out the back for a moment.

Christian tapped his fingers on the counter as he waited. He soon reappeared, with the pilot.

"Hey Christian," he smiled, shaking his hand, "ready to go?"

"Yeah. Just gotta get the merchandise on board."

"Craig said you might have some ah... fragile, cargo," he raised his eyebrows as he led the way outside.

Christian waved to the owner and followed.

"You right to carry her?"

"Yeah, and her brother."

"Her brother?" the pilot hesitated, "Craig didn't mention a brother."

Christian shrugged.

"He was in the way. Leave a bit of mystery for the family for a while, hey? Rather than them being on our tail straight away."

The pilot nodded, before spying Avery in the back seat. Christian had knocked her out before they arrived, to be ready for moving.

"Where's the boy?"

"In the trunk."

The pilot opened the back door, before Christian lifted Avery out and into his arms. The pilot went to the trunk and opened it.

"Hey, hey... we got ourselves a pop star," he chuckled.

"Yeah. Damn dead ringer for me too," Christian rolled his eyes, telekinetically lifting Taylor from the trunk, "I've been keeping them alive with food and water. S'all they need until Craig decides what he's going to do with them."

The pilot began to lead the way to the plane.

"Is the car yours?"

"Nah, theirs. You can dispose of it if you want."

He shrugged.

"I'll get Jefferson to do it. I think he has someone that wants a car."

They made it to the plane, and finally boarded. Both Taylor and Avery were put into the cargo area, before the two of them sat up front.

"Ready?" the pilot asked.

"Ready."

"Toronto, here we come."

Avery

Avery's head was swimming with images. And it hurt. Why was it hurting? What was happening? Avery opened her eyes, squinting in the sudden light that was piercing through her head. She blinked a few times, trying to clear her head. Looking next to her, she noticed Taylor was still not awake. She moved over to him, putting his head in her lap.

"Tay, wake up, Tay, I need you. Please wake up!"

Avery thought she saw him move. "Tay?"

Nothing.

Doing what she had seen a thousand times in the movie, she slapped him, hoping if he woke up he wouldn't slap her back.

Taylor

Taylor's eyes shot open for a moment, then closed again as he moaned and rubbed his head. Then he felt something on his wrists.

Squinting, trying to see in the dim light of the cabin, he saw the rope still on his wrists. Then he noticed Avery looking down on him.

"Avie?!" he exclaimed, darting up and beginning to pat her face, "are, are you ok?! Has he done anything to you?! What... what happened?!"

Avery

"Tay! Oh thank god you're awake. He knocked me out, but I think I'm alright, just have a headache. My powers don't work on him, The Spider gave him a mind block. Oh Tay, they want me to get his collar off, Tay, this guy looks like you... and he was... and you weren't here, and I was so scared."

Avery burst into tears, finally letting her fear out. She collapsed to the ground, sobbing and rubbing her head.

Taylor

Taylor bit his lip, not knowing what to do. Looking around the cabin, he suddenly realized they were moving.

"Where are we?" he frowned to himself, but decided to focus on his sister for now.

"Hey, hey... it's ok. It's gonna be alright, I promise. You won't have to do anything you don't want to," he insisted, realizing he couldn't hug her with his wrists tied.

"But could you do me a favour and get this off?" he raised his eyebrows, "and tell me... do you have any idea of where we might be?"

Avery

Avery struggled for a few minutes with the ropes and finally got them off.

"I don't know where we are... and he said I'd have to do what they want, and if I do, and the Spider gets free, he'll hurt people and it'll be my fault. Of course, that doesn't matter if he kills me."

Avery burst into a fresh batch of tears.

Taylor

Taylor closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around his sister.

"He's not going to kill you, Avie. He's not. If he lays a finger on you..." he shook his head, willing the thought away.

He slowly rocked her, backwards and forwards.

"As long as I'm here... Ave? As long as I can, I'm not going to let them do anything to you. Anything."

He hugged her tighter and kissed her forehead.

"And if he gets free after this, we'll track him down again. Just try and stay calm for me. Please?"

Avery

Avery hiccuped. "Taylor, mom and dad must be so worried."

She hugged her brother tighter, trying to hold in the fresh tears that were threatening to spill out.

"I love you, Tay."

Taylor

"Well it's already been a couple of days. They probably have cops swarming the house."

He couldn't help chuckling a little.

"The whole 'confine the kids to the house' thing. Makes you feel sorry for Zac, doesn't it?"

He pulled away for a moment, and wiped her tears away.

"Well... now that I guess we're in a plane... I don't think it'll be long until we get to wherever the hell we're going. Maybe then we'll get some answers," he forced his voice not to shake.

Avery

"Are you hurt or anything? Your head doesn't hurt does it?"

Avery wiped her nose on her sleeve.

"I wish we could see them again. I wish I'd never agreed to go on this camp and I'm sorry that you got mixed up in all of this."

Taylor

"I would rather be caught up in this than letting you go through it alone," Taylor insisted.

He sat back, and began to work on the ropes on his ankles.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry. I'm worried about you. I was supposed to be looking after you."

He threw the rope across the space, partially fed up with himself. The other half of him knew he couldn't control the situation.

He sighed and brought his knees in to his chest, wrapping his arms around them.

Avery

"What are we going to do? I think we're too far now out of range to contact mom and dad telepathically... but I can try again if you want."

Avery looked around, desperate for a way to escape. At this point, even jumping out of a plane was more appealing.

Taylor

"I think we're too far Avie," Taylor shook his head with a gulp, "I think travelling for..."

He hesitated, thoughtfully.

"Two, three days would put us out of your radius."

He stared at the tow rope, then looked around the cargo area again.

"I don't want you doing anything drastic, ok? Not unless you let me in on it."

Avery

"I don't know what to do, Tay."

Avery lay down on the ground, not caring about anything anymore.

"I just want to go home."
