4 March 2003 - The Mighty Insect People

Cameo - Chelsea
From Anomalies

Chelsea appeared in the middle of a farm. She looked around wildly and groaned. Great. There were insect people with her.

"Hey, hey, hey!" one cried. "Where is we?"

"I don't know," Chelsea replied.

She then had to block her hands over her ears as they all began chattering madly. She was an Anomaly. A Triggered. And just her luck, one of her three powers was Interdimensional Teleportation. The most irritating power in all the universes when it was emerging. Random teleports to different universes and different times. And she had lost track of how many weeks she had been away now.

Universes. Such a strange word. Didn't 'uni' mean one?

The last place she had been she had accidently stumbled in a nest of insect people trying to get away from some psycho mutants who, for some reason, despised triggered. Probably didn't like the fact that triggered were so much powerful than them. The usual fear of the unknown. Argh. Would people never grow out of that?

At any rate in her teleport to this place - wherever and whenever it was - she had accidently brought some insect people with her. That happened if she was too close to someone when she teleported. Unfortunately it had happened before, and the policed officer hadn't been close enough to her on her next teleport for her to take him with her. It would be only polite of her to go back after him when she got control over this stupid power. The insect people never seemed to care if someone was human, mutant or triggered, so long as they didn't try to hurt them.

"Would you all please shut up?" Chelsea shouted.

The chattered ceased and she pulled her hands off her ears.

"We're on a farm, in another time and another universe. My Interdimensional Teleportation is emerging. Get over it."

Chelsea stormed away from them. Part of her felt that she should keep them with her so she could return them at the right time, and besides why curse this poor world with more insect people? Assuming this was a world with Anomalies. On the other hand, there was no way she was going to put up with all those insect people following her everywhere.

It seemed however, that she didn't need to make the decision. Her power did for her.

"She's gone-gone," an insect person said.

"Oooh look! Flowers! Lotsa flowers!"

"Flowers!"

Chelsea forgotten, the insect people flew, scuttled and ran towards the flowers. They would soon establish a new nest for themselves.
