23rd February 2003 - The Lost Date

Taylor

Taylor closed his eyes as he breathed in the scent of the flower he'd just picked. It was yellow again.

Grinning to himself, he got off his bike and led it up the apartment driveway and into a small area they had for occupants' vehicles. Leaving his helmet on the seat and putting his sunglasses on his head, he began to make his way up to Mouse's apartment.

When he got there, he listened in to the door for a moment, then knocked. It was precisely 10am.

Mouse

Mouse jumped, then breathed deeply. Calm down, girl, she scolded herself as she checked herself over in the mirror for the last time before opening the door. Faded blue super flare jeans, her usual sneakers, a nice long sleeved cream top, and her long tan coat. She looked good. She hoped. She slipped her necklace over her head as she opened the door and smiled. "Hi."

Taylor

Taylor smiled as she opened the door.

"Hey babe," he murmured, before wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her neck and cheek.

When he finally pulled away, he revealed the flower.

"Here's one to add to our collection," he chuckled.

Mouse

Mouse took the flower from him and smelt it. "Mmm. I like flowers, they're pretty." She smiled up at him, and then stepped inside to put it in some water. "Be a minute." A small vase she'd noticed before was perfect for the job, and she quickly ran some water into it, placed the cheery yellow flower inside, and then put it on the small coffee table in the living room. "I don't think you've actually been over to see my new place, Tay. Wanna come in and have a look around?"

Taylor

"Yeah, I was planning to," he grinned, walking in.

The apartment was very small, but still had a 'cozy' feeling to it. He could tell alot of the appliances were brand new. He soon spotted Nevyn on the arm of the couch.

"Hey there Nev," he grinned in rat.

He gave him a scratch under his chin, then followed Mouse. He came up behind her, put his hands on her waist and swayed her to and fro.

"Nice place you got here," he murmured, still hating the fact she'd moved out.

Mouse

Mouse leaned her head back into his chest and put her hands over his. "Yeah. Good step up for a girl whose worldly belongings were contained in a backpack a month ago. And bonus. I got a kick ass boyfriend to go with my new life."

Fafnir snorted in amused contempt from his position on the floor near her computer desk. /There are no words for what you two are./

Fantastic? Perfect? Great? Mouse smiled.

I was thinking more along the lines of disgustingly sappy, vomit inducing, and so forth.

You're just jealous. Fafnir raised one side of his muth to show his teeth, then rested his head back down on his paws.

Jealous? Of that whelp? What are you on?

Taylor

Taylor chuckled, and rested his chin on Mouse's shoulder.

"Well Fafnir, it's partly your fault," he attempted to remind him, "if you guys weren't playing matchmaking twenty-four/seven..."

Then he hesitated.

"Oh God, I almost forgot."

He let go of Mouse, and took off the small backpack he had on his back, putting it on the table. He opened up the zip, and recieved a few squeeks.

"I brought a friend," he grinned, lifting Flavian out.

The fuzzle proceeded to jump up and down in his hand a few times at the sight of Mouse.

"He missed you," he teased.

Mouse

"Hi Flavian." Mouse couldn't help but start to giggle as the fuzzle's mind bounced around excitedly. Man, she had to get a fuzzle. They were instant mood picker upperers for an empath. All...fuzzy, like bubbles. "How have you been?" She listened to the yellow fuzzle chatter away happily about what he'd been doing, what Taylor had been doing, what the Hansons had been doing...little gossip. "So everyone's fine?"

Yes! Extry extry fine! Flavian bounced.

Why don't you let me eat the ball of fluff? And the other ball of fluff. Fafnir commented lazily.

Hey! I resent that remark! Sidhe bristled.

You mean, you resemble that remark. Fafnir tossed back. Go have fun, pups. He closed his eyes again.

Stinking canid. Rrraawwrr! Sidhe pounced on Fafnir's tail, and he just flipped it out of her reach, sending her flying in the process. Hey, no fair! Sidhe complained.

Go away. Fafnir kept his eyes closed. Go. Have fun. I'll mind the den.

"Thanks, Fafnir." Mouse smiled. "Don't eat them, 'k?"

They'd probably give me indgestion.

"So, you wanna go?" Mouse turned to Taylor.

Taylor

Taylor eyed Fafnir off, but thankfully trusted him enough not to harm Flavian. He turned to the fuzzle.

"Do you want to stay here with Nevyn, Sidhe and Fafnir, or come with us?" he asked.

"Me stay! Me play!" he bounced excitedly.

Taylor grinned.

"Ok," he nodded to Mouse, "Flavian wants to stay with this lot, so... I guess we're on our own."

He wiggled his eyebrows sending Flavian into gigles, before placing him on the couch near Nevyn. Flavian shuffled over to him, smelt him, and gave a loud squeek. Taylor chuckled.

"I'm ready," he grinned, putting his sunglasses back on and retrieving his backpack, "I brought my bike, so we'll just ride around. If you see somewhere you want to go, just tell me to pull over."

He hesitated.

"Bit of sight seeing in Tulsa I guess. You haven't really had the chance to have a proper look around, have you?" he cocked his head slightly.

Mouse

"Nah, not really. Just in and out. Taking the wolf hunting, and so on. Sounds cool. Sounds good. So, let's go. Be good!" Mouse enforced that with a strict mental order. Fafnir yawned, Sidhe pouted and Nevyn just rolled his eyes. She let Taylor out first, then turned nad locked the door behind her. "Hey, no point in inviting trouble," she said with a shrug. "But not many people will break into a place with a dog, and Fafnir's a bif dog."

I heard that! Fafnir shouted indignantly. I am *not* a dog! I am a wolf!

And you're gonna be a quiet one, or we'll get kicked out. Mouse said sweetly. She heard Fafnir's snarl through the door as she headed outside. "So, where's ya bike?"

Taylor

"Down in the parking area," he indicated with his hand, getting his backpack on properly and retrieving his keys.

He led her down into the parking lot, and spied his bike.

"That one," he pointed to a silver one between two black.

He led her over to it, took the helmet from the seat and passed it to her. Then he stood it up and got ready to start it.

"Où à d'abord, Madame?"

Mouse

Mouse placed the helmet on her head and secured it firmly. "Je ne m'inquiète pas, aussi longtemps que c'est vous qui me prend, m'amour." She smiled at him from under the helmet.

Taylor

Taylor chuckled as he started the bike, and helped her on.

"Here we go," he said to himself.

He revved the engine, and began to turn toward the entrance.

"Hold on tight!" he called to her, before taking his feet from the ground and zooming through the open gates.

He pulled out into the street, and began to head downtown.

Mouse

Mouse leant her head against Taylor's back and sighed happily. This was of the good. In fact, this was of the extreme good. Happy Mouse. No, make that blissfully happy Mouse. The bike thrummed between her legs as they drive through the streets and she looked around at Tulsa. Nice place. Very normal looking, like most places actually. The emotions of the city surronded her, mostly happy and mainly content. Which was good. Most really big cities had more sucidal types for some reason. She suspected it was the closeness of everything...enough of that. Think about the guy you have your arms wrapped around. She sighed in bliss again.

Taylor

Taylor sighed, trying to keep his focus on the road. Wouldn't do for him to be in another crash so soon, especially with Mouse on board. He wasn't even supposed to be on a bike again so soon. Pity he forgot to tell his parents how he was getting to Mouse's.

Overtaking a car, he tried to think of where he could take her. He was counting on the fact that she'd just had breakfast and wasn't ready for lunch yet. That way they could spend some time at a park or something.

Feeling her relax against his back sent a shiver down his spine. It had been such a long time since his last girlfriend, but it was nowhere near as special as this. She was human after all, and didn't respect animals as he did.

Passing the tall city buildings and weaving through traffic, he finally made his way out towards the suburbs. He was hoping to find a park like the one they'd gone to the first night of the tournament. Someting with a lake, etc, and hopefully some animals.

Eventually, they did find one. Even though it took maybe half an hour.

He pulled into the small parking area, slowed the bike, and stopped.

"How's this for a rest area?"

Mouse

Mouse raised her head and looked around. "Perfect. Reminds me of some place..." She took off the helmet, then tapped her chin with her finger, pretending to think hard. She knew what the park reminded her of, she was having fun teasing. "Was it somewhere in Los Angeles? Can't quite remember..."

Taylor

Taylor grinned, getting off the bike and taking her hand to help her off.

"Need a little help to... jog your memory?" he smiled as he spoke soft words.

He pulled her in front of him and nuzzled her neck as they swayed in sync.

Mouse

"I think it's coming back to me, yes." Mouse giggled as his mouth gently kissed all over her neck. He raised his head and they kissed deeply. "Yes, definetly stirring memories. Good ones."

Taylor

Taylor grinned as they kept kissing, just over and over, enjoying it.

"So..." Taylor began between pecks, "want to... find a place... by the water... for now?"

Smiling, he continued kissing her neck, waiting for an answer.

Mouse

"Whatever. It's all cool when I'm with you. You drown them out, all the others in my head. Safe. It's good." She buried her head against his chest and then walked with him to a bench near the lake. They sat down and returned to the normal pleasantries of a near adult relationship. Making out.

Taylor

After about an hour, Taylor was found laying on his back in practically the same spot. They just enjoyed each other's company so much, and felt safe with each other and the animals.

At this particular time, Taylor was watching two squirrels in a nearby tree who didn't realize they were being watched, or that someone could overhear their conversation.

Not that it was interesting. But sometimes an arguement is just interesting in itself.

Eventually, he turned his head to look at Mouse.

"Want something to eat yet?" he asked softly, "If I'm right there's a nice lunch bar around the corner."

Mouse

"Hmm. Sounds nice." Mouse wriggled slightly and stretched. "This has been nice. Is continueing to be nice, and I'm about to start babbling. I recognise the signs. So, yes, lunch sounds good. Getting towards the hungry stage." She made no move to stand up.

Taylor

Taylor looked her over for a moment, then rolled over on top of her with a grin.

"Then we'll go in a moment I guess... jolie dame," he half whispered half murmured, before kissing her again.

This wasn't just a peck this time, this was making out.

As it got more intense, he rolled over onto his back, letting her on top.

Mouse

Mouse blinked slowly. Well, that was...intense. Wow. And could she just say how extremely hot he looked right now? Her hands were on his chest and he was *grinning* at her. She blinked. This was sensory overload time. Very much so. She didn't have anything to say, so she leant down and kissed him. No, no, this was definetly the sensory overload place. God, she babbled in her own head?! Ok. Calm down. Mouse got up off Taylor and headed over to the bike. "You said something about lunch?" Privately she was amazed her voice sounded so steady, cos her knees were definetly weak.

Taylor

Taylor stood up, scratching his cheek.

"Yeah," he said, catching up to her and putting an arm around her waist, "I think there's a place around the corner... if there isn't then I must be lost."

He chuckled.

He handed her the helmet again when they got there, helped her on and got on himself. Putting his sunglasses back over his eyes, he started the engine.

"Let's go."

Mouse

They drove around until Taylor pulled up in front of the place he'd been talking about. It was a small cafe, and by the amount of people in it, popular. Mouse and Taylor ordered and grabbed a table. She couldn't help but grin at the emotions around them from dome of the older customers. All 'oh, young love, isn't it sweet?' and happy nostalgia. Cute. She turned down her senses so the emotions were more of a dull roar and concentrated on Taylor. Good thing to focus on. The food was good as well. She sighed and leant back in her chair when they had done eating and were talking over coffee. "So, what's next on the tour?"

Taylor

Taylor leant forward, his elbows on the table as he scratched his neck. He was watching a couple of birds on the window sill they were near, as he couldn't hear them through the glass.

"I dunno," he grinned, "we could always head out to the desert behind where we live, or we could head back to your apartment..."

His eyes darted toward her curiously.

Mouse

"Desert's all the same, everywhere. Dust and sand and lizards." Mouse shrugged. "We can go back to my apartment, if you want. No big."

Taylor

"Whatever you want to do," Taylor grinned, taking her hand in his.

He let go to stand up. Everything had been paid for in advance, so all they had to do was walk out.

Taylor smiled as he took her by the hand again, and led her out to his bike.

"Do you think Flavain's still safe?" he chuckled.

Mouse

"Fafnir wouldn't *really* eat him. And Nevyn would be able to help him hide if Sidhe decided he'd make a great new toy to chase. And then Fafnir would help Nevyn, mainly because he detests Sidhe with that vague aloofness that wolves get. He thinks she's a great annoyance, and she wants to play all the time. But she's only a kitten still." They got on the bike and drove off.

Taylor

Taylor took a bit of a detour through the city streets on his way back to her apartment. A couple of teenage girls managed to spot who he was and followed the bike a little, but were soon outrun. Taylor couldn't help but smirk. 'Taylor Hansons seen with a girl...' He'd no doubt be asked about it by some interviewer at least in the next few months.

Arriving back at the apartment, he pulled up in the parking area again, turned the bike off and got off.

"Lead the way," he insisted, taking off his sunglasses again.

Mouse

"You know, I'm so gonna get hatemail once the public realises that a girl is going out with you. From girls and guys, which is just plain scary." She went inside the building, and Taylor followed her as she went up to her apartment. "And I'm thinking it won't take that long now, cos, we were spotted. I'm glad none of the people in the cafe knew who you were. They all were 'aw, how cute!' which is sickening, but better then 'hey...that's Taylor Hanson! With a girl! Now, I'll never make him mine...unless I kill the girl first'. I can so see that being someone's delusional train of thought." She opened the door and went inside, leaving it open for Taylor to follow her in.

Taylor

Taylor closed the door behind him.

"Yeah, and unfortunately that won't only come from girls either. I've had it before."

He made his way in and began looking around for Flavian. He soon spotted the fuzzle chasing Nevyn across the floor, only he was doing less than tenth of Nevyn's speed.

"Hey! What's going on?" he chuckled, picking the hairball up.

Mouse

Fafnir opened his eyes. You're back. Please feel free to kill them anytime now. Any time at all.

"Aw, did the big bad wolfie get annoyed by the small yet powerful balls of fluff?"

I resent that! Sidhe mewed.

You mean, you resemble that... Nevyn said almost under his breath. Sidhe pounced, and Neyvn ran under the couch. I agree with Fafnir. Please drown her at the earliest possible instance. Flavian is fine though.

Let's play now! Sidhe pranced over to Taylor, and lowered herself into a pouncing position, tail waving slowly. You run, and I get to bat you across the floor!

Mouse bent down and picked the kitten up. "Play nice, y'hear?"

I play nice. Sidhe pouted.

That depends on who you ask. Nevyn's voice came from under the couch.

Taylor

Taylor just laughed, setting Flavian on his shoulder. The fuzzle nuzzled his neck, happy to see his Taylor again.

With a sigh, he headed for the couch and sat back.

"It's just the natural course a kitten takes, unfortunately," he said in mix... "she's going to be like this for months."

He glanced at Fafnir with a grin.

"Maybe longer. Depends on how quick you lose your patience and actually eat her."

Mouse

That could be very soon. Look, would you just clear off! Fafnir shouted as Sidhe sank her claws into his tail, leaping to his feet and sending her flying with a flick. He stalked after the now frightened kitten, snarling. I really don't like it when you do that.

"Fafnir..." Mouse warned. He looked over his shoulder and whined at her pleadingly. "No. No eating."

Aw, please?

"No. I said no, and I mean no." Mouse sank down next to Taylor on the couch and leant her head against his shoulder, closing her eyes as his arm went around her. Fafnir pushed his head up against her hand and she scratched his ears. Mouse sighed, content.
