20 February 2003 - Double Date

Isaac

Isaac got into the car, all spruced up (Isaac, not the car) and drove towards Ash's and Mindy's house. This night they were going on a double date. They being Isaac and Miette, Ash and Mindy.

Isaac was picking up Ash and Mindy first, then Miette as that would be the shortest route. From the B&B where Miette was staying they would go to the cinema.

It wasn't long before Isaac arrived at Ash's. He got out of the car and knocked on the door.

Ash

"In a minute!" Ashley called from down the hallway.

He was spiking his hair up in front of a mirror. He knew it was Ike, so it didn't really matter how long he took.

"Can't you just open the door?" Mindy rolled her eyes, walking past to answer the knocking.

"What? I know it's him," Ashley grinned, straightening his shirt and putting his comb down.

Then he followed Mindy to the door. She opened it to see Isaac standing in front of her.

"Hey Ike, I'll be ready in just a minute," she smiled at him, then disappeared.

"Hey man," Ashley stepped out and patted his shoulder, "hope we're not running late or anything."

Isaac and Miette

"Naw," Isaac replied. "I'm early. I know all about your habit of taking your time to get ready."

Mindy giggled, and Isaac drove towards the B&B. Again, he stopped the car and walked inside. Miette was waiting for him.

"Hi Ike!" she greeted cheerfully.

"Hey, Mi," he replied. "Ready to go?"

"Yep," and she followed him out to the car.

"And on to the cinema we go," Isaac said, smiling.

Ash

Both Ash and Mindy hugged each other in the back seat on the way.

"Do we have any idea of what we're seeing? Or have you just not told us?" Ashley grinned, directing his statement at Ike.

"Just go with the flow," Mindy cooed, rubbing his chest.

He grinned.

Isaac and Miette

"Absoultely no idea whatsoever," Isaac replied cheerfully. "But hey, I like surprises."

"Well, if there's nothing on, I know Star Trek is still on," Miette grinned. "We can always watch that again."

Ash and Mindy

"Well that depends on whether we're actually going to watch the movie or not," Ashley pointed out with a playful grin.

"If we're not, I don't care. If we are, I think I'll pass."

"Star Wars is ok," Mindy looked up at him.

"Yeah, up until the thousandth time you know. After that it just gets... tedious."

Isaac and Miette

"Star Wars?" Isaac repeated as they arrived at the cinema. "That's not on. I think you mean Star Trek."

"Star Wars, Star Trek," Miette said, getting out of the car. "Star this, star that. One does get mixed up. Unless one is a huge fan, of course."

"But we won't go there," Isaac grinned. "We will, however, go there.

He pointed to the cinema.

Ash

"That's even worse," Ashley proclaimed, before Mindy hit him.

"It's fine Ike, Mi," she insisted, "whatever you want to watch is fine with us."

"So you're not planning to watch it?" Ashley grinned at her.

"Hmm... maybe," she flirted, fiddling with his hair.

Isaac and Miette

Miette followed Isaac inside and started looking at the different titles.

"Shame Daredevil isn't coming out until March," she said. "I can't wait to see that."

"Yeah, me too," Isaac agreed. "So, anything you guys are interested in?"

Ash

"I honestly don't care man," Ashley admitted, hugging onto his fiance from behind, "anything's fine with me."

"What about that one," Mindy pointed tot he title of the latest thriller, then looked up at Ashley, "you might have to protect me if I get scared."

They both chuckled a little.

Isaac and Miette

"Sound good to me," Isaac said with a grin.

"Okay, well, you menfolk can get the tickets and Mindy and I can get the junk food," Miette decided.

"Cool," Isaac replied.

He turned on the spot until he spotted the ticket booth and pointed.

"Onward!"

Ash

Ashley chuckled, before pecking Mindy on the neck and heading off with his friend.

Mindy giggled, and followed Miette towards the candy bar.

"So... how are we going to fatten these boys up?" she grinned, "I say lots and lots of candy and chocolate. And popcorn. And soft drink. We won't eat it all, but we can take the rest home. I'm really in the mood to pig out."

Isaac and Miette

"Sounds good to me," Miette replied.

She regarded the range of junk food.

"My goodness! You Americans sure have a lot of sweets I've never heard of. Funny how different the food is overseas."

Mindy

"Well... it happens," Mindy grinned, "although I haven't really been overseas. I mean, Ash took me somewhere with Hanson last time they went on tour, but I came home pretty quick."

She sighed.

"Now that we're engaged he'll probably want to take me everywhere. Which I don't mind, but I don't want to see it as a burden either."

She squinted at the price list.

"Ok, I say chocolate for a start. Soft drinks, popcorn, lollies, the usual. Maybe we can even throw it at people if we get bored."

Miette

"Ooh I like," Miette giggled. "I always wanted an excuse to throw popcorn at someone in the movies. Oh look, they have one of those candy bars where you can fill up bags with the stuff. How fun!"

She walked over and pulled out two bags, handing one to Mindy.

"Two or four bags?" she asked.

Ash and Mindy

"Four. Definately. Actually... let's make it six. Just in case we waste too much," Mindy chuckled.

She grabbed a couple more, and began to work her way around the candy bar.

Meanwhile, the guys finally got the tickets.

"You think this one will be too scary?" Ashley grinned at Ike, "for the ladies I mean. You sure you can handle it?"

He chuckled.

Isaac and Miette

"If not I guess we'll just have to be big strong men and protect them from the evil movie screen," Isaac joked.

"Six bags, good idea," Miette said to Mindy, beginning to fill three bags.

"Got enough bags?" Isaac asked, seeing the six bags.

"Hmm, maybe you're right," Miette grinned. "Maybe we should make it eight."

Ash and Mindy

Mindy giggled, and grabbed two more bags. She'd already filled her three.

Handing one to Miette, she began to fill it again.

"Hey, hey... slow down babe," Ashley insisted, putting his arms around her waist.

"What? I'm hungry."

"Yeah it looks like it."

He looked up at Ike.

"I think the movie's about to start. What do you say we start heading in?"

Mindy grinned at Miette and giggled again.

Isaac

"You're hungry enough to eat all those bags of candy huh?" Isaac asked. "You pregnant or something?"

He paused.

"Actually, I shouldn't say stuff like that," he rebuked himself. "A certain younger brother of mine got one of his girlfriends pregnant. And, what's worse, she's human. I don't know how he's going to tell her. Anyway, we want to head over to the cinema now?"

Ash and Mindy

"What?" Mindy stood stock still as Ashley just stared.

"Oh my... Zac? Zac got someone pregnant?" Ashley exclaimed softly, letting go of Mindy, "what the... how could he? A human? Man... what the heck's gonna happen?"

Mindy put a hand on his shoulder.

"I suggest we keep this particular conversation for a more... private place," she suggested nervously, looking around.

Isaac

"Zac has to tell Julie - she's the expecting mother - about aliens," Isaac shrugged. "Of course, she's moved to Roswell, so it's not exactly a mean feat. But you're right, Mindy, this probably isn't the place to talk about it."

He showed the tickets to the female staff member.

"Cinema two," she said, ripping the tickets. "Enjoy the movie."

Ash and Mindy

"Thank you," Mindy said, before sipping some of her drink.

"I think it's about to start," Ashley checked his watch for the tenth time, "shall we?"

He raised his eyebrows and indicated the cinema.

Mindy smiled and looked towards Miette.

"Let's go," she nodded, and led the way in.

As they went through the door, Ashley insisted they find somewhere right up the back.

"Of course, doofus," Mindy whacked him playfully, "how else can we get such good aim to throw things?"

Isaac and Miette

Miette giggled.

"She has a point, If you try to throw things at people behind you, they're going to know who it is. And then they'll throw stuff back."

"Really? I wonder why that is?" Isaac asked drly.

Ash and Mindy

Mindy grinned as Ashley led them to four seats up the back. The lights were beginning to dim and the advertisements were starting, so they made a point of getting seated quickly. Ashley sat on the outside of Mindy, who wanted to sit next to Miette.

"You and Ike can see each other every day for all I know. Miette goes home soon so I want to spend time with her," she pointed out.

"Who said I didn't wanna spend time with her?" he pouted.

Mindy only whacked him, and reached for some chocolate.

Isaac and Miette

"It never fails," Miette mused. "No matter what country you're in, the ads take forever."

Isaac grinned.

"I'll drink to that. Y'know, if you give me my drink..."

Ash and Mindy

Mindy giggled, and grabbed some candy.

Soon after the movie started, she and Ashley began aiming for random people. The beginning of the movie was boring after all...

Mindy missed a few people, but Ash was of pretty good aim. He once hit an old lady on the back of the head, who obviously had no idea of what was going on.

Isaac and Miette

As it turned out the whole movie was pretty boring, and ended up in Miette and Isaac throwing food at people too. Isaac, naturally, was the best at it.

"Show off," Miette whispered to him at one stage. "No fair using telekinesis."

Ash and Mindy

"Yeah man, no using powers," Ashley insisted, hearing the whisper.

He added a chuckle, so anyone who might have heard would have thought he was just being an idiot.

When the lights finally came on after the movie, there were pieces of candy and popcorn that just seemed to be flowing down the steps. When Mindy caught sight of it, she giggled and poitned it out.

"Gosh, we're in our twenties or so and we still act like ten year olds," she grinned.

Ashley just kissed her.

Isaac and Miette

"This is nothing. I had to catch a train to and from school," Miette said. "We used to have the carriage to ourselves regularily so we would play bottle football."

"Bottle football?" asked Isaac.

"Yeah. Someone would have an empty bottle so we would kick it around from one end of the carriage to the other in an effort to score goals."

"Oookay."

"Of course, once we didn't have a bottle. So we used fruit instead."

Isaac started chortling.

"The carriage looked a little like the cinema. Except we have apple strewn in the carpet and mandarin in the air conditioning and goodness know what else."

Ash and Mindy

"Interesting," Ashley raised his eyebrows, "and waht, pray tell, inspired you to do this?"

"Oh shut it Ash, let's get out of here. Are we still on for dinner?" Mindy looked at Ike and Miette hopefully, "personally, I'm starved. I don't care how much junk I've had I feel like I've hardly had anything."

"You'll get fat," came Ashley's voice.

Mindy just snorted.

"I could eat my way to New Jersey and not put on a pound."

Isaac and Miette

"Boredom," Miette replied with a smile.

"I'm good for dinner," Isaac said.

"Me too. I think most of out food ended up on the floor than in our mouths."

"There's a restaurant across the road. I've been there before. Good food and not too expensive."

"Sounds good to me. S'okay with you two?" Miette asked Mindy and Ashley.

Ash and Mindy

"Fine," Ashley shrugged on his and Mindy's behalf as she just nodded.

And with that, they headed across the road.
