Dawn and Giles
"Now remember Scott, our purpose here is to pick up the four new mutants, and welcome them to our school."
"Yes, I know Professor," Scott sighed, "I'm just saying, I want to spend some time with my cousin. Her sister JUST ded. Uncle Hank's somewhere in Europe with some little skank, and Aunt Joyce is gone too. I'm the only blood family she had left." The professor thought about it for a while.
"Scott, would you like to invite the Dawn to come stay at the mansion for a while? She's still in high school, and it would give her a time to heal I think. Of course I'd like to meet her first. How about this, I'll go to the Hansons and meet the Alvarezes, and you can go see Dawn."
When the plane landed, Scott went over to the hotel. He went down into the lobby, and saw a large number of girls, and a few men sitting around talking, and a teenaged girl sitting in the lapt of a teenaged boy, a bleached-blonde man lecturing him about where he was putting his hands.
"Dawn?" Scott said tentatively. "Dawn Summers?"
"Yeah? she said, looking up. "Oh my Godess, Scott?" Her eyes widened. Suddenly she shot off of Clarke's lap and into Scott's arms. He scooped her up and spun her around, laughing.
"God, you've gotten so big!" Xander noticed the look on Clark's face.
"Relax, dude, that's her cousin. Scott Summers." Clark visibly relaxed, though he'd later insist that he was in no way jealous. Scott lookeed his cousin over. She was smiling, and trying to laugh, but he saw that look behind her eyes. He'd had it there himself, when Alex died. Brokenness. She had finally given up.
"So, Dawn, other than the obvious, how are you?"
"I'm surviving, how about you?" Scott groaned.
"You know Sabre and Nyx?"
"Yeah?"
*Help." Everybody laughed. Scott let his cousion back to the couch and sat down next to her.
"Well, first things first, introduce me to everyone," Scott said, trying not to glare at Clark. Dawn blushed.
"Uh, this is Clark Kent, my boyfriend. Over here, well, you know Giles and Xander and Willow from, ah, from Mom's funeral. That's Willow's girlfriend Kennedy, my friend Amanda, the new Slayer, Faith, Andrew, and Priss." Who, by the way, is Nyx and Sabre's sister. Everybody, this is my cousin, Scott." Everyone nodded or schook his hand, and then Scott got down to business.
"Dawn, I miss you. Do you realize that we're the only Summers' left? SO I talked to the Professor, and he said that you're welcomed to come and live with us, at least for a while. You can finish school at the Institute, and your friends are welcome anytime. Dawn, we need to heal. The last few years have butchered our family, and I think we can get through this, together." Dawn thought about his proposal while she looked at Clark, and at Giles and the rest of her Sunnydale family.
"Well, Clark's going back to Smallville in a few days. Giles is thinking of opening a 'Slayer school' of sorts. He had the Watcher's Council to reopen. SO it looks like we might be staying here for a while. But I'd like to come and live with you Scott. I think I need a change. Giles, what do you think?"
"Dawn, when Buffy died last time, we kept you in Sunnydale only so that your father wouldn't find out and try to take you away from us. We were still unsure of everyuthing then. Now I think, that if you want to go and spend some time with your cousin, rebuild your family of sorts, than that's fine with me. In fact, I think it's a wonderful idea." Xander and Willow agreed, and Dawn had the first real smile on her face in a while. Scott called the Professor on his cell phone, and they worked out the details. Scott would come and pick Dawn up on the 22nd, and Spike, of course, would come along, since he was refusing to let her out of his sight. Scott smiled, Spike and Wolverine might get along pretty well.
They sat around and talked for while, before Scott had to get back to the Hansons so that he could fly the Professor, Jean & the Alvarezes back to the mansion.
Priss
"If my sibs dost misbehave too badly, please do not hesitate to tell me. They wilt be freezing in the Russian tundra before thee could blink. Thee hast only to threaten them with that, and they will mind." Priss smiled gently at the man with the strange eyepieces over his face.
"You're very...different to your siblings," Scott said slowly. Priss laughed merrily.
"Oh, indeed! But variety os the spice of life, especially in ones as long as ours. They wilt soon tire of these personas, and create new ones to play with." Priss tucked one foot neatly behid the other as she sat forward. "I meant what I said before. If they cause too much mischief, I wilt be staying with Dawn for the nonce. Thee can reach me there."
"Ok." Scott smiled back, somewhat relieved he had a way to answer Nyx and Sabre's mischief when he got back.
Dru
Drusilla danced behind the sofa. "My William, are you really and truly returning to New York?'
"Yes, Dru luv, I am."
"Then I shall too, for who am I, if not yours. And your keeper, I must be, as well." Dru held her arms out and began to sing. "I remember New York, on the Subway train where pretty Slayer died." Robin Wood growled in the backround and attempted to stake Dru, but Dawn stopped him.
"Principal Wood, let her be."
Priss
"Drusilla be naught but what she be. That being a vampire, thee cannot blame her for her feelings on the death of a Slayer. She be not even souled! Thee can not cast blame where it dost not lie. If thee tries to hamr her again, thee will answer to me." Priss smoothed her robes out, face serene. "I be most protective."
Your guess is as good as mine
Suddenly Anya spoke up. "I think I'll go for a while. I have no ties at the moment, I have no clue to who I am. I'm not Anyanka, but I don't think I'm Aud anymore either. I need to learn who Anya is. Besides, I wanna go hang with Sabre and reminisce about me trying to kill him. Men are evil."
Priss
"Ah yes. I almost forget sometimes that thee were a vengeance demon. But I would say it is not men, but humans as a race that can be capable of the greatest evil, yet also the greatest good. That be what is fascinating about them. So many contradictions in one species..." Priss shook her head. "I may perhaps accompany Dawn. My sibs and I have, as it were, taken her under our wing. She has managed to touch us all, and we have taken her under our protection. For different reasons, and to different degrees, it is true. Dawn, would thou like my company, or would thee prefer I stay here, with the Potentials? It be thy choice, love." Priss folded her hands in her lap, and looked at Dawn keenly.
