Miette, Mindy and Isaac
"I have to say," said Miette, "that I thought you guys were the best there."
"And if not the best, then defintely in the top five," Mindy teased.
"Well, thank you," Isaac grinned.
He glanced over to Miette.
"Anyway," Miette went on with a sly grin, "I think I'll leave you two alone. I imagine you have lots to talk about. Coming Ike?"
"Sure. Err, where are we going?"
"I want to see what they're doing in the creation masters room."
"Ooh, good idea. You're in that, huh?"
"Yeah."
"Gonna give me a hint?"
"Nope."
"Aww," and the conversation continued as they headed off, leaving Mindy and Ashley alone.
"I, uhh, I suppose you're wondering why I haven't called," Mindy said quietly.
Ashley
Ashley looked down for a moment, avoiding eye contact.
"Uh... not really. I thought... I knew you'd need space. This isn't exactly, um, everyday stuff for someone like you," he chuckled slightly.
He watched Isaac and Miette walk away.
"I didn't expect it to take about a month, but you know... I guessed you might have either..." he shook his head, cutting himself off, "I mean, I thought you didn't want to pursue anything."
Mindy
Mindy put her hand on his cheek.
"Why wouldn't anyone want to pursue something with you?" she asked. "You're the most wonderful man I know. Yes, okay, I know I freaked out when you told me - who wouldn't? But that doesn't mean... well, I'm here aren't I?"
She sighed.
"I did need time," she admitted. "Something like this doesn't... well, you can't digest it in five seconds. But one night I..."
She giggled nervously.
"I had a nightmare. I know that sounds silly, but I did. And I automatically reach for the phone to call you and I... Ash, I can't imagine living my life without you, and I knew it... really knew it at that moment. But I... I guess I was a little scared to call you. I saw the look on your face when... when I reacted how I did," she looked guilty. "So I spoke to Mi. I wanted to know more about all this alien stuff - in fact I believe it's important for me to know if we're going to get married."
Mindy looked nervously into his eyes.
"You do still want to marry me, right?"
Ashley
Ashley's eyes immediately lit up.
"You, you mean..."
He took her hands in his and searched her eyes.
"Of course I do! I just... wow. Umm..."
He felt the ring on her finger still and played with it a little. He laughed to himself, unable to control himself.
"I... wow. I mean, you really, really, really want to do this? You're sure?" he had to be certain, "I mean, our kids... assuming we have kids... will be hybrids. You know that, don't you?"
Mindy
"Yes, I really do. And, it's funny you should mention our kids... you see, when I arrived here... you will never guess who I met. My mother! She's Dathrian too, it seems. When Mom and Dad divorced, I stayed with Dad on account of not having powers. They agreed not to tell me about my alien side because, well, aside from not having powers, Dad wasn't planning on persuing any alien stuff. I guess I should be mad at them for keeping this secret, but I suppose I can understand why."
Ashley
Ashley coughed, trying to keep his excitement down.
"You're... no way! Your Mom? I haven't..." he looked around, still keeping hold of her hands, "I've never seen her here before. I should have known. Oh my God."
He paused to take a deep breath. Then he grinned.
"So... you're a hybrid," he couldn't help but chuckle, "I seem to be meeting a lot of them lately, what with Mi and Oliver..."
He cut himself off, giving her a hug.
"I missed you," he whispered, "please, never do anything like that again. Not talking to me for weeks, I mean."
Mindy
Mindy hugged Ashley back and nuzzled his neck.
"I never will again. I promise."
