Taylor
Taylor paced backwards and forwards in the kitchen, thinking of what to do.
He was the first person awake. Again. For about the third time in his life.
He hesitated and listened closely, making sure no one else was awake. Good. He eyed off the keys hanging on the wall, and spotted the keys to his dirt bike. It'd be easier than a car. He could push off down the street for a while and start it around the corner. No one would know it was him.
The sun was rising, so he grabbed his sunnies and put them on, grabbed the keys and his wallet, and made for the front door. He closed it behind him quietly, then made his way to the garage.
He got the bike out, and began to jog with it down the street - careful to look back every now and then to make sure no one saw him. Once around the corner, he started it and took off towards the local shopping centre.
When he arrived, he grinned as he saw a couple of people setting up the flower stall that had been there the day before - they happened to be aliens, so he knew them well.
One looked up when he heard the bike pulling in.
"Hey! It's Taylor!" he called to his friend.
"Taylor?" she repeated.
"Hey," he grinned shutting off the bike.
"So... did you have a Valentine?" the guy grinned.
"Yeah."
"And you didn't buy flowers off me? You'd better now."
"That's what I plan to do."
The guy's eyes lit up.
"Who is she?" the woman asked, "is she human?"
"No. You'll probably see her at the tournament today."
"Oh we're not going today. Maybe tomorrow."
"Fair enough. So what about these flowers?"
Taylor
The guy grinned.
"What's her favourite colour? We have red roses, purple violets, white roses, pink carnations..."
"Yellow. Her favourite colour's yellow," Taylor grinned, having asked Fafnir late the night before.
"Ok, yellow. An unusual colour for the ladies," he raised his eyebrows, "we have... sunflowers, marigolds... a couple of roses..."
Taylor rolled his eyes.
"I can see what you have. Just give me ah... bunch of sunflowers, one of roses, and then one mixed. I want something of everything yellow you have."
"That's pretty... you really like this girl, huh?" the woman smiled.
"Sure do."
"How come you didn't come yesterday?" she asked as the man retrieved the flowers.
"Because I didn't have a Valentine yesterday," he chuckled, "we just... initiated a relationship last night."
"Going to tell your fans?" the man asked.
"When do I get a chance? It's not like I'm going to announce it."
"But would you tell them?" he went on.
"Frankly, it's none of their business."
"They'll make it theirs," the woman grinned.
"Are you going to sell me something or give me the third degree?"
The man chuckled and handed him the first bunch.
"You know me. You know I can't help wondering."
"Yeah. Curiosity must come with invisibility, I tell you..."
It wasn't long before Taylor got the bunches - and a rainbow crystal necklace the woman offered - and was on his way back.
He pulled right up to the garage, got himself sorted, put his sunnies on his head and prepared to carry everything inside.
Isaac
Isaac was cooking himself breakfast. The conventional way. He was planning on using a lot of telekinesis today and didn't want to strain himself before he even arrived at the tournament.
Thus he was preparing something rather less complicated than bacon and eggs. Toast. You just stick the bread in the toaster, let it cook and then butter it. All good.
Taylor
Taylor finally managed to get up to the front door - with great difficulty - and find his keys to open the door. He made a bit of a racket opening the door, but not enough to wake anyone.
He finally got inside, put the flowers on the floor, and pulled the necklace from his pocket looking for something to put it in. Not finding anything, he put it around his neck for the moment, put his sunnies on a small table nearby with his keys, grabbed the bunches, and began to quietly move towards the staircase.
Suddenly, he heard movement. Someone was in the kitchen. Mentally crossing his fingers, he slowly went to investigate.
Isaac
Isaac looked up and saw Taylor in the doorway.
"Hey, Tay," he said cheerfully. "Good morning to you. Wait... what are you doing up this time of the morning?"
Taylor
Taylor raised his eyebrows.
"Good morning yourself. I told you I wanted to get Mouse something for Valentines today, remember? I just went down and saw the flower guy..."
He struggled with the three bunches for a moment, freeing a hand to pull out the necklace.
"His girlfriend gave me this for her," he grinned.
Isaac
Isaac looked.
"Spiffy,'he said. "Want some toast?"
He paused.
"ANd how is it we've known the flower guy for years and we still don't know his name? He's just, the flower guy."
Taylor
"We have an excuse," Taylor chuckled, putting the necklace back, "after all, we basically only talk to him on Valentines Day or Mother's Day or some other occasion involving flowers."
He sighed for a moment.
"Yeah, I'll have some toast. I'll be back, I've just got to set this up."
Gathering the bunches, he slowly made his way upstairs and toward his room. He stopped at the door to listen in. He could tell she was still sleeping - peacefully at that.
He grinned. Slowly, and without making a sound (he was used to sneaking in and out fo the room) he opened the door and made his way in. Nevyn was awake, and looked up curiously as he entered. Taylor put a finger to his lips, indicating for him to be quiet. The rat gave a small nod.
Taylor couldn't help but smile as he saw her asleep on the bed. He put the roses and sunflowers on a chair, facing her, and placed the mixed bunch on top after pulling out a marigold. Slowly, he made his way over to the bed. Nevyn watched curiously.
Carefully, he knelt down beside her and moved the blankets a little. Then he began to tickle the tip of her nose with the golden flower.
Mouse
Mouse's nose twitched in her sleep and she raised a hand to wave the annoyance away.
Nevyn watched the two, smiling slightly. The two most probable actions on her waking up are either hitting you for sneaking up on her in her sleep, or kissing you. The way she was acting yesterday...I would have to say that the second course was more likely.
Fafnir looked up from his palce at Mouse's feet, and rolled his eyes. Sap.
But females just adore sap. Nevyn said reasonably.
Mouse sighed and her hand brushed at the flower again.
Taylor
"This girl could sleep through a tornado," Taylor said in rat with a grin, "which, around here, is probably not a good idea. We're right in the middle of tornado country."
Cocking his head a little, he began to just run the petals of the flower over her face and down her neck - just content with watching her sleep.
He closed his eyes for a moment, smiled, then opened his eyes and blew into her face.
Mouse
Nevyn and Fafnir watched Taylor trying to wake Mouse up gently. No, she trusts us to wake her if something's wrong. Nevyn said. But she will most likely wake very soon.
Mouse opened her eyes drowsily and rubbed a hand over her face, obviously not focusing. Then she blinked, and looked at Taylor properly. "Um. Good morning. Is this a dream?" She pinched her arm. "Ow. Obviously not." She smiled.
Taylor
Taylor just smiled, leaning his head on his shoulder so his face was in line with hers.
"Good morning," he said softly, "happy belated Valentines Day."
He put the flower in her hand, then leant forward to kiss her forehead. Sitting back, he glanced at Nevyn.
"I asked Fafnir what your favourite colour was last night," he began again, resting his head on his shoulder again, "he said yellow, so I got you something yellow."
He glanced over his shoulder, indicating the chair with the three bunches of flowers sitting carefully.
Mouse
Mouse gaped at the flowers sitting on the chair as she sat up in bed. "Oh, wow. Just wow." She sat there stunned for a few more seconds, before flinging her arms around him. "Thank you! They;re beautiful." She rested her head on his shoulder and sighed happily, Normal relationship stuff. That was so undeniably cool, especially since she thought it would never happen.
Taylor
Taylor gulped a little, the necklace digging into his chest.
As she pulled away, he smiled a little, and put a finger on her lips, raising his eyebrows.
Slowly, he reached under his shirt, untangled his necklaces from hers, and lifted it up over his head. Suspending it in the air, he turned it around, and slid it carefully over her head.
"I got this from a friend of mine," he grinned, "it's a rainbow crystal. Alien jewel."
He fiddled with the pendant a little before she could.
"They sell them at the tournament, but I think this way it has more sentimental value."
Mouse
Mouse lifted it in her hand so she could see it properly. "Heaps," she agreed softly. Ooh...sparkly. A thought suddenly struck her. "Sidhe's gonna go nuts. Cos, you know, sparkly." They shared an amused glance. Mouse ducked her head shyly again, pretending to study the necklace intently. "You didn't have to...you know, get me anything." She studied the necklace some more.
Taylor
"You're my Valentine," he grinned, rubbing her shoulder, "I couldn't let you go without."
He turned slightly, and pulled a large sunflower from the bunch. He studied it for a moment, a grin growing on his face, before smelling it. He picked out a seed from the center, gave it to Nevyn, then bent it a little and put it in Mouse's hair.
"There's a lot of yellow flowers you know," he chuckled, "but I think I pretty much got one of every kind here."
He took hold of the mixed bunch and handed it to her.
"I just hope you don't let flowers die as easily as Mom seems to," he chuckled.
Mouse
"I like flowers...and these are beautiful. Except the sunflower is maybe a little big for my hair." Mouse giggled slightly as she got up and the flower slipped out, landing on the bed. The overlarge t-shirt and boxers she wore to bed rode up a bit as she stretched. Fafnir chuckled.
You're a tease, Mouse.
Shut up, Fafnir. You're a wolf. You don't get it.
Your point? And I bloody well do get it. I can smell the phermones you two put off from here. Fafnir padded over to the door as Mouse froze in embarrassment. And from here too. He commented cheekily from the hallway. Mouse felt a burning blush sweep from her face, all the way down her body.
Taylor
Taylor blushed a little, but held himself back.
Getting up himself, he retrieved the sunflower from the bed, and replaced it in the bunch.
"I'll get these into water," he smiled, picking up the other to bunches, "and ah... let you get dressed."
He smiled a little as he left the room and closed the door behind him. He hesitated for a moment, listening in, before making his way downstairs.
Not seeing Ike, he searched for a few vases. He soon came across three, and took them back up to the bathroom. He heard Mous ein his room as he filled the vases with water, and placed the bunches inside. Then he just waited until he could hear her open the door so he could take them back in.
Mouse
Mouse sat down on the bed, buried her face in the pillow and screamed. Argh! Stupid wolf. Then she saw the funny side of it, and giggled slightly as she got dressed in her habitual jeans and white top. She left the flannelette shirt behind today. She wasn't in the mood for hiding. Nevyn watched her as she put her shoes and socks on.
Fafnir doesn't really mean it. He squeaked reassuringly. He's just playing around.
I know. Just...annoyed. And embarassed. Very embarassed. Mouse admitted with a shrug as she got up and opened the door. The necklace hung over her white top, sparkling prettily.
Taylor
Taylor heard the door open, and took hold of two of the vases from the basin. Carefully, he began to make his way back.
"I see... flowers... moving toward me," came a voice.
Taylor jumped.
"Dad!" he exclaimed, "I could have dropped them! You do know how much Mom loves these vases."
He glared at his father through the flowers. Walker chuckled.
"You should be more careful. Watch where you're going."
With that, he stood to the side to let Taylor pass, then continued on downstairs. Taylor sighed, rolling his eyes, before finally coming to his room.
"One more to come, in the bathroom," he inromed her, making his way into the room and setting the vases down on the dresser.
The flowers went pretty well with the wooden decor, and colour of the wallpaper.
Mouse
Mouse walked over to the flowers and inhaled. "Mmm." They smelled so nice. "I'm going to get some breakfast, 'k?"
That would be nice. Nevyn agreed.
Taylor
"Ike's making toast in the kitchen. I asked him for some. You can have mine and I'll make my own when I come down," Taylor insisted, before hugging her from behind.
He swayed with her a bit, just enjoying the feel of her, before kissing her neck and letting go.
"I'll meet you downstairs," he said, going to fetch the last vase to bring into the room.
Mouse
Mouse floated out of the room, blissful smile on her face. She entered the kitchen, and frowned. No Ike. Weird. Oh well, maybe he'd had to go somewhere. Nevyn pattered along at her heels and clambered to her shoulder as she poured herself a cup of coffee and then turned to the toast. She got it out of the toaster as it popped, and spread butter thickly over it. Ike's breakfast was still there, half eaten, so she took another place at the table and settled to her breakfast, feeding bits to Nevyn occiasionally.
"Morning, Jane." Mouse heard Diane say, and she looked up and smiled at the older woman.
"Morning. Tay and Ike are up. And around somewhere," Mouse informed her before returning to her breakfast.
Isaac
Isaac walked back into the kitchen.
"Good morning, Mouse, Mom," he said before sitting down to eat the rest of his breakfast.
Mouse
"Morning, Ike." Mouse got up and put more toast in the toaster, suddenly very hungry. Fafnir was out hunting, she could barely sense him out at the limits of her range. At least that was cheaper then paying a butcher for the sheer voloume of meat a timber wolf could eat. Even if it did make her a little edgy at times.
"Is that a new necklace, Jane?" Diana inquired. Mouse riased hr hand to it self-consiouncly.
"Um, yeah. Taylor gave it to me." She could feel the blush starting at the edges of her ears. And then Diana pushed reassurance at her.
"I was actually wondering when the two of you would figure it out," Diana said cheerfully as she got her own breakfast.
"So, you're cool with it?" Mouse turned slightly, to look at Diana shyly.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Diana smiled.
"Well, that's good." Mouse started to calm down again. She had parental approval. Thank goodness, especially since she was still staying there. It could have been awkward.
