14 February 2003 - St Valentines Day

That night

Dawn and Clark

That night, after the first day of the tournament, when Dawn and Co. were settling down in their hotel for the night, Dawn pulled Clark aside.

"Hey, Clark, since this is our first Valentine's Day together, I got you something." With that she handed him a jewelry box.

"Wait, isn't the guy supposed to give the girl jewelry?" Clark asked, grinning, as he opened it to find a small pendant on a simple chain. The pendant was a small glass stone with a deep red center.

"Nyx helped me make it. There's a drop of my blood in there, it will protect you from evil spirits, and from harm. Any demons who decide to attack you will feel the blessing and the protection of chaos on you." Clark was speechless.

"Dawn, this is, well, it's the sweetest thing anybody's ever done for me," he said, slipping it over his head. "I'll never take it off, it's like I'll have a part of you wherever I go. But nowe I feel like my gift is all pathetic and stuff." He said, handing her a jewelry box as well. Opening it, she found another pendant, only this one was a flat piece of metal with a symbol etched into it.

"It's the Kryptonian symbol for 'beloved,'" Clark said, blushing.

"I, I love it!' Dawn proclaimed, putting it around her neck and throwing her arms around him. "This is the first Valentine's Day I've ever been able to spend with somebody I truly care about, and I don't ever want it to end." Cuddling together, they sat down in front of the fireplace in the hotel lobby, just talking, and snuggling.

"You know what?" Dawn finally said, "This has been the best Calentine's Day ever."

"Totally," Clark agreed., kissing her softly.

Nyx

"Aw. Isn't this just sweet, Spike?" Nyx smirked at them from the doorway, one arm wrapped around Spike's waist. "Just...awwwwww."

"Too true, pet, too true." Spike had a soul but that didn't mean he couldn't be mildly evil at times. Nyx leant her head into his shoulder and looked up at him.

"Reminds me of the time I caught Sabre with this lovely human girl. Red hair, and just, mmm." Nyx winked at the teenagers on the floor, before continuing, "of course, there were less clothes involved."

"Don't you go giving the bit ideas," Spike growled at her. Nyx patted his cheek.

"Sweetie, I don't need to. I'm sure she's got plenty all her own."

"Reallly not wanting to think about that, pet."

"Don't call me pet." Nyx frowned at him.

"What? I just adore calling you pet, *pet*." Nyx slapped him on the ass. "Hey!"

"Kiss my ass, vampire."

"Bend over, *pet*." The two faced off, Nyx's hands on her hips as she glared steadily at the bleached blond.

"How about...no, soul-ed one?"

"Oh, now that wounds me deep, pet."

"Stop calling me pet, or I'll call you worse, lover."

"Fine, Nyx!" Spike threw up his hands in frustration.

"You know you never win, so why do you keep trying?"

"Everyone has one good day, cat. Just the one. It's all I need." He quirked his eyebrow at her, and she giggled before flinging her arms around him in a tight embrace.

"I've been missing that." She leant up and pecked him on the lips. "Let's put these two to bed, and then we better go look after Dru love."

"Uh, yeah, right." Spike shook his head to try and focus. Nyx winked at Dawn as her hands slipped around to run up Spike's back. "Stop that," he growled at her.

"What, this?" Nyx raked her claws down his back and he hissed, before grabbing her hands and removing them from under his shirt.

"Yes. That. You two, bed, *now*. Seperate ones." His eyes didn't leave Nyx's, and she just grinned cockily at him.

Dawn

Dawn had been trying to pretend she didn't know they were there, as had Clark, but they pulkled apart & jumped up upon Nyx's order. Squealing, Dawn ran over to Nyx.

"Nyx, look what Clark gave me for Valentine's Day!" She said, holding out the pendant. "It means 'beloved' in his language." To this, Spike snorted, and Dawn scowled at him.

"I'm sorry Nibblet, it's just that that's what the Poof used to call your big sis, so I find it amusing, still."

Nyx

"It's sweet, Spike," Nyx corrected him as she let go to study the pendant. "Ooh, sparkly." Her eyes crossed, and then she shook her head hard. "Really dislike my feline nature at times. Humans don't get mesmerized by shiny objects, dammit! And I really wanna go to LA, find Angel, and beat the crap outta him."

"Can I watch, luv?"

"Sure thing, Spike." Nyx patted his shoulder. "Bed, you two. As Spike is the gaurdian type, I'll reenforced his order of seperate beds."

Dawn

Pouting, Dawn said the one thing she knew would get under Nyx's skin.

"Ny-yx," she whined, "You're beginning to sound just like Buffy."

Nyx

Nyx gaped at Dawn. She what? Sounded like Buffy? She shook a finger at Dawn. "Don't you even dare compare me to the black and white girl! No, not at all comparable to Buffy, in any way! For one thing, I'm *much* hotter. And sexier. And did I mention hot?" Spike snickered and she turned around to him. "Don't even, Fangjob. No. I'm going to go out and get very drunk to erase that particular comparasion from my mind. Eeeewwww! Buffy? Do you hate me, Dawnie?" Nyx pouted at Dawn. "Cos, that wasn't very nice."

Dawn

Dawn sighed.

"Nyx, no, I love Buffy, and I care about you. It's just that when you're being all bossy & stuff, you sound like her. She's my big sister, I can take bossy from her, and even from Spike, 'cause he's like my dad, but not you, you're supposed to be friend, not mother or sister. Silly Nyx." Throwing her arms around Clark's neck, she jumped on his back and he caught her. Piggy-back ride.

"Well, if I hafta go to bed, somebody's gotta carry me. Lead one, dogey!"

Nyx

"I wast *joking*, Dawnie," Nyx sighed and rolled her eyes. "So, saving the world's not for everyone, she can do that all on her own."

"Bed, niblet," Spike intervened, after glaring at Nyx in warning about upsetting Dawn. Nyx crossed her eyes, stuck out her tongue and giggled. "I will be making sure you lave the room afterwards." His glare turned on Clarke.

"Let the kiddies have their fun. Leaving now, clubs are calling!" Nyx waved and headed out the door, humming.

Clark and Dawn

Clark deposited Dawn on the bed. "Okay, sweetie. Go to sleep, without me."

"Awwe, come on," Dawn said, batting her eyelashes, "Dontcha wanna cuddle wif me?"

"Yes, but I'd also prefer it if Spike didn't rip my throat out. He thinks of you as his daughter, you know. So does Dru. And I'm the boyu that wants to violate their firstborn, so, yeah." He kissed her once more.

"You, sleep now. Love you."

"Love you too," Dawn said, sleepily. Clark went off to his own room and they both fell into a blissful sleep.
