Miette
Rowena gave her daughter a hug.
"Have fun sweetie," she said. "And be careful."
"I will, I promise," Miette assured her.
Miette was going overseas. To the USA to take up Oliver's invitation no less. Rowena knew the nature of this trip. Sam on the other hand thought she was only going for recreational putposes. As far as she knew, he didn't suspect there was anything alien going on, and for this Miette was relieved. She loved her father, but that didn't mean she liked it when he was angry with her.
Miette stepped on the plane and managed to find her seat. She organised her things, and put on her belt. The wait seemed to take forever, but before long the plane took off and she was on her way to two weeks in the USA.
Oliver/Leroy/Miette
Oliver waited impatiently for Miette to show up. The plane had just touched down and the passangers were starting to file off.
"C'mon, c'mon," he said.
Leroy just smiled at Oliver's anticipation.
"There she is!" Oliver yelled. "Miette! Over here!"
Leroy chuckled. Miette soon found her way over, and they picked up her luggage, headed down the car pack, hopped in and started driving away.
"We've been staying at a B&B. I'd head there now, but Oliver has a little surprise for you," Leroy informed her.
"Oh?" Miette asked with a curious look at Oliver.
Oliver grinned at her mischeviously.
"What is it?"
"Now, now," Oliver replied. "That would be telling. And it would spoil the surprise."
"Mmm," was all Miette had to say about the matter.
A good drive and a pit stop later, they pulled up at a two-storey suburban home. Oliver practically dragged Miette out of the car and up the path to the door. He hadn't even knocked on the door when it opened.
Miette gaped.
Oliver/Miette/Isaac
"Were you sitting on the door or something?" Oliver asked Isaac.
"Umm, yep, pretty much," Isaac grinned. "Miette?"
"Isaac?" Miette gasped. "Oh my gosh!"
The two hugged.
"Aww," Oliver said. "Okay you two, knock it off."
"It's so good to finally get to meet you," Isaac said.
"And the same to you!" Miette replied. "Oh wow! I had no idea you and Oliver knew each other."
"We met through another guy - Ash. And I met Ike's sister Jess online a few weeks back now," Oliver answered.
"Ike! You're not going to keep our visitors waiting outside now are you?" Diana called.
"Oops, sorry," Isaac said, holding out his hand to Miette. "Would you like to come in?"
"Why certainly," Miette replied.
Oliver shook his head and rolled his eyes to Leroy, who just smiled.
Braddocks, Hansons and Leroy
Miette, Oliver and Leroy stepped inside.
"I'm so glad you decided to come to the States," Isaac told Miette.
"Thanks."
Diana stepped forward, coughed, and Isaac remembered his manners.
"Oh, and these are Miette, Oliver and Leroy," Isaac said, remembering his manners. "Everyone, this is my mother."
"You may call me Diana," Diana said.
"My sister, Avery,"
"Hey."
"And my brothers, Zac and Mackie. Mackie is the one floating around the living room."
"Yo," Zac said, busy playing his game.
"You've got PlayStation 2?" Oliver asked, his eyes wide with glee.
"Yep."
"Can I have a go?"
"Sure. Right after I've finished my game."
"Awesome!" and Oliver sat down next to Zac to watch.
Miette smiled wryly.
"We're not staying long, Oli," Leroy warned. "I'm sure Miette would like a chance to rest after her flight."
"Oh, no I'm fine at the moment," Miette assured him. "I got a nap on the plane."
"In that case," Diana cut in. "Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Well..." Leroy began.
"Oh please do," Isaac said, not so subtly taking Miette's hand and giving it a small squeeze.
"Sure, why not?"
"Yes! C'mon, Miette, I'll show you around," Isaac said.
"Okay, great," Miette smiled.
Avery, Taylor and Ash
A loud bang was suddenly heard from the front door, followed by laughter.
Avery chuckled as she caught on.
Taylor and Ashley stood in the doorway, cracked up laughing. Their faces soon sobered when they saw they had company...
"Ah... hello," Taylor tried not to laugh.
Ashley just waved.
Miette and Isaac
"Umm, okay..." Miette said, a little startled by the bang.
"Miette, this is my brother Taylor and our friend Ashley. Guys, this is Miette," Isaac said. "So, ahh, plan on tellling us what that was all about?"
Ash and Taylor
"Miette?" Ashley repeated, "so this is the girl you dream about every night?"
Then he spotted Oliver.
"Hey Oli!" he waved.
Taylor looked Miette over without losing the grin on his face.
"Nice to meet you," he extended his hand.
Before she could shake it he grabbed her hand and went to kiss the back of it, before twisting his face in fake disgust.
"Nah... better not. I don't want to kiss Ike's spit."
And he and Ashley cracked up again.
Isaac, Miette and Oliver
"Hey Ash!" Oliver greeted.
"Ike?" Miette asked. "Are they always like this?"
"Umm, usually they're not quite this bad. I think someone must have slipped something into their drinks."
Miette giggled.
"C'mon, Miette. I'll show you around."
"Okay. And you can call me Mi."mr me?
She smells
"Me Mi?" Isaac repeated, and attempted to stifle a laugh.
Miette laughed.
"Yeah, I know."
And the two left the room before Taylor or Ash could make any more strange jokes.
Mouse
Mouse ran after Sidhe. Damn it, can't you just tell me what's going on?
No, hurry up! Mouse sighed and pelted after the kitten, ending up at the Hanson's house. Cars outside. Maybe not so good. She whistled and Fafnir caught up to her.
What?
Can you smell who's in there?
That pack, more two leggers. No fear smell, so they're probably fine. No blood either, dammit.
Stop that. Mouse slid cautiously up to the side of te house and slid through the wall. She saw Taylor and she smiled. "Hey, what's going on? Sidhe refused to explain, just kinda said come! Come now!" She looked curiously at the guy with Taylor. "Um. Bad time? Can go."
Taylor and Ash
"Awww, Ikey-poos doesn't wanna playw ith us," Taylor sniffed, pretending to be hurt.
That was before Mouse came through the wall.
"Hey Jane!" Taylor cried enthusiastically, "Tarzan, meet Jane. No. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Jane, this is Ash - the guy we were talking about a few days ago, when you first got here."
"Pleasure," Ashley grinned, pretending to dip a hat.
"What exactly happened here?" Diana asked curiously, looking between Ashley and Taylor.
"Sorry Mrs. Hanson," Ashley chuckled, "just had some major fun shape shifting and uh..."
"He shifted into a dog and bit someone on the arse."
"I did not!"
Taylor cracked up again.
"That was not his arse, thank you very much. And you told me to."
"Well I didn't think you'd do it!"
Zac and Oliver
"I think that Ikey-poos have some 'other' playing in mind," Zac commented cheekily, still intent on his game.
"Erg... I don't even wanna go there..." Oliver said, wrinkling his nose. "That's my sister you're talking about it."
"What's your point? It's also our brother."
"Yeah, but who would you feel if I implied something like that between one of my brothers and your sisters?"
"Ahh... Oh rats!" Zac complained as his little man died. "You distracted me! I don't have any more lives left."
"Oh good. I get to have turn now."
"Mmm. Hey, you like car racing? We can race."
"Sure. Hey, who's the chick?"
"That's Mouse."
"Hi Mouse!" Oliver waved. "I'm Oliver, but everyone calls me Oli."
Mouse
"Hi Ash, Oli. Um." Mouse looked disconcerted. Shapeshifting? Weird much. "Oh! Fafnir!" She walked out to the front door and opened it, Fafnir bounded in, and Nevyn raced in ahead of Sidhe. "Quit it!" She bent and picked up Nevyn. "No, you can't eat him, stop trying, and Nevyn, next time you have my permission to bite." She walked back in, one hand on Fafnir's head, Nevyn wrapped around her neck and Sidhe bouncing along behind. "Fafnir the wolf, Nevyn's the rat, Sidhe's the kitten and Sparra's round somewhere. Stop it, Sidhe!" The cat leant up her denim covered leg, claws pricking, as she used Mouse's leg as an impromptu scratching post.
Wanna eat him! Nummy.
"You can't, now stop that." Mouse gently detached Sidhe's claws from the material, then picked her up and gave her to Zac. "Hold her. Otherwise Fafnir'll eat her, or Nevyn's gonna bite her cos she won't stop trying to catch him. So, friendly types. Oh, whatcha playing?" She sat down on the floor near Zac and Oliver, sprawling on the ground rather inelegantly. Nevyn squeaked and moved rapidly to keep his position on her shoulders. Fafnir had been regarding Ash rather oddly.
He stinks like a dog. Mouse tried to smother her amusement at Fafnir's dry comment, then gave up to giggles. Fafnir gave Ash one more long stare before lying down next to the still hysterically laughing Mouse.
Taylor, Ashley, Avery and Diana
Taylor raised his eyebrows at Ashley.
"The wolf thinks you smell like a dog still," he chuckled, "man, you stink!"
"I do not!"
"You bit someone on the arse, you have no excuse. And that bitch you came along..."
"Hey, hey, let's not go there..." Ashley suddenly frowned.
Taylor grinned.
"Aww, why not?"
Ashley looked around at their listening audience.
"You want your Mom to hear that?"
"What?" Diana asked with a frown.
They heard Avery chuckle.
"Stop reading my mind!" Ashley exclaimed, frustrated.
"You shouldn't be watching that kind of stuff girlie," Taylor wagged a finger at her.
Mouse
Mouse rolled on the floor, holding her sides as she laughed. "You'll get used to that," she told Ash and Oli semi-seriously, still chuckling slightly as she sat up. "Nevyn and Fafnir have a wicked sense of humour, so if I burst out laughing, it's usually cos of something they've said." She pointed at Ash and started to laugh again. "God, but this alien stuff is so damn weird. Really. And Avery? No looking in people's minds. It isn't polite. And people have some freaky stuff in their heads. Me for example. Bad track, skip it." She turned to look at Oliver. "So, British boy? Or have I got the accent very wrong?"
Oliver and Zac
"I'm British," Oliver smiled. "Just outside of London. And if you think alien stuff is weird, you should meet some of my other friends!"
He shook his head incredulously.
"I have one friend - her name's Nyx - and she's a werehuman. She's really a cat and she say that the Egyptian cat goddess, Bastet, is her mother. And then there's Dawn, who was created by monks, has this superpowerful blood and is always getting kidnapped because of it. It's insane."
"So, we gonna play or not?" Zac asked, holding out a console to Oliver.
"Sure."
And the boys picked their cars and started racing around the track.
Isaac and Miette
Meanwhilst, in another part of the house...
"And this is my room," Isaac said.
"Uhh... wow... it's rather clean..."
Miette did not expect the room of a 22 year old guy to have a clean room.
"Well, y'know, I've been practicing for the tournamant. Normally it's a pig sty, but picking things up and putting them away is a good what to exercise my telekinesis," Isaac then gave her a wry grin. "It's also a good way to keep picky parents off your back who, for some reason, like rooms to be clean."
Miette giggled.
"I dye my hair with my power."
"I noticed the green and red in your hair looked rather bold."
"Mmm. Well, it's been this way for a while. I'm thinking of changing it to indigo with silver streaks."
"Indigo?" Isaac repeated with a little laugh. "Forget 'purple' we'll go with 'indigo'."
"Hey, when you can manipulate such things any what way you what, you learn to differentiate. Else it just gets boring."
"I suppose."
"You've got some CD collection in here," Miette said, walking over to take a look. "Hey, you have Jimmy Hendrix! Oliver is going to love you. He plays guitar too."
"Cool. Oli planning on trying Jimmy's trick?"
"What? Playing the guitar while it's on fire? I believe it's on his 'to do' list."
Isaac laughed.
"So, how long are you going to be?"
"Two weeks," Miette replied. "I would have liked to spend more time overseas, but y'know. Money, school, keeping Dad from gettign too suspicious. As far as he knows this is just recreation, as opposed to aliens and stuff, but y'know... since Uncle Leroy showed up, I'm not sure he trusts me any more."
Miette looked so forlorn that Isaac put his arm around her shoulders.
"Hey, I'm sure everything's gonna work out."
She nodded.
"I hope so," she sighed.
There was quiet for a moment.
"Say, umm, do you suppose..."
"Do I suppose what?"
"Well, while you're here, would you like to go on a... a..." Isaac found himself wondering why he was nervous all of a sudden, "a date with me sometime?"
"Uhh..." Miette was a little surprised. "Yeah, sure. That'll be fun."
"Great."
Mouse and Diana
Back in the living room...
Mouse watched with fascination as the cars zipped around on the TV. She could see that the guys were really getting into it, and she used her powers just the very littlest bit to feel what they were feeling. Very competitve...what it reminded her of was when a new wolf comes onto a pack's territory. They havta figure out how the whole deal was gonna play. Except this was remarkably less violent. And they were having fun too. She grinned. This whole almost family thing was working out well. She got to her feet and wandered out to the kitchen, Fafnir deciding to stay where he was and Nevyn still on her shoulders. "Hi, Mrs Hanson." She nodded at Diana before going to a cupboard and getting a cup out to get herself a drink of water. She sipped it quietly.
"Hello, Jane. How are you doing?"
"Fine, I think. Still weirded out." Mouse drummed her fingers on the bench. "Way too many people. Too many emotions, bouncing, bouncing."
"You'll get used to it," Diana chuckled.
"I really hope so, cos at the moment it's like spiders running over my skin. Itchy." Diana laughed again at Mouse's disgruntled tone. "And I think this tournament is gonna be worse. Way, way too many people."
Taylor and Ashley
Taylor looked to Ashley.
"Ah... yes... I think I shall be going..." he began.
"Well do you want something to eat? Unless you've already..."
"Can it already. I can always cover your keyboard with water and electrocute you onstage," Ashley mock glared.
"Ooooooh, I'm shaking," Taylor's eyes widened.
"I'll keep that in mind. I actually like that idea. Good day sir!"
And with that, Ashley dipped his fake hat at everyone he could see and left.
Taylor chuckled and closed the door behind him.
"Damn, the life of a shape shifter..."
Then he followed Jane into the kitchen area.
Mouse
Having heard a snippet of the conversation, Mouse blinked her eyes in shock. "You know, electrocution is actaully very painful. Not very nice. The threatening and so forth. Um. Rather wolflike, actually. Except you probably aren't going to leap on each other and try to rip each other into tiny pieces until one of you backs down. Not so much with the actual violence, I'm hoping." She rolled the cup between her hands slowly, then put it down. "Seeing as how people don't usually do that. Much. Well, not your type of people anyway, not like the gangs, and I should really stop now. Um."
Taylor and Ashley
"He was just playing around, we're not actually going to do anything to each other," Taylor smiled, grabbing some juice from the refrigerator and pouring some into a glass.
"And I'm not sure what you mean by 'our people'," he chuckled, before taking a drink.
Hesitating for a moment, he looked up at her.
"Well for one thing, you don't know much about aliens... especially one with tongue," he couldn't help but grin, "my 'people' include basically every living organism on any planet in any solar system. And we're not into gangs, we just hang out with our friends every now and then when we're not practising or performing or something. Or supposed to be working on an album."
Mouse
"Um." Mouse rubbed her forehead and wondered tiredly how much further away two people could be in understanding. "And one with tongue? Could so be taken the wrong way. You might want to watch that." She skittered away from trying to explain what she meant and concentrated on the light hearted side of the conversation. Then she remembered something. "Oh! Wanted to know, can I borrow your bathroom?"
"Of course, Jane." Diana smiled at her a bit puzzled.
"Bored with my hair. Dying it again...bleaching it actually. Promise I won't leave a mess. That's cool?"
"Go ahead. Just don't splash the bleach around too liberally."
"Thanks." Mouse treated Diana to one of her real smiles, eyes meeting hers and everything before the girl dropped her gaze again. "Fafnir? Do me a favour and get my bag?" The wolf whined, but soon padded in with her bag in his mouth. "Thanks, pack."
Lazy little bitch. The wolf thought fondly.
You know it. Lazy, lazy me. Mouse rubbed his head hard, and then started to pull stuff out of her bag, depositing them on the kitchen bench. Where was that box? A sheathed knife, pack of smokes, Discman, CDs, wallet, t-shirts, spare pair of jeans... Mouse made a noise of frustration. Where had the annoying thing gone?
Isaac, Miette, Zac and Oliver
"I suppose we ought to go back downstairs before people start concocting stories about what we're doing in here," Isaac said at last.
"Probably better that way," Miette replied with an amused smile.
They went down the stairs and into the living room.
"Where is everybody?" asked Isaac, seeing only Zac and Oliver in the room.
"Kitchen," Zac replied absently.
"Who's winning?"
"Me, of course."
"Of course," Isaac replied with a small smile.
He then led Miette into the kitchen where they saw Mouse going through her bag.
"Looking for something?" Isaac asked. "Oh! Mi, this is Mouse, also known as Jane. Mouse this is Miette."
Taylor
"...Also known as Ike's 'Lovebunny' or the gilr Ike's fallen head- over-heels in love with," Taylor grinned.
Then hesitated.
"I think I'm out of here before I get what I just deserved."
Placing his glass on the sink, he took of through the door and went to watch Oli and Zac racing. Oliver was catching up...
Mouse
Mouse looked up, and blinked. "Wow. Cool hair." She had found the box of hair dye and started shoving her stuff back in, being careful with the knife. "And Taylor? Very stupid," she called out after his retreating back. "Don't pick on the ones with the crush. It's not nice, and then you know he'll get you back. Picked that much up already. So. I'm Mouse. This is Nevyn." She indicated the rat. "The wolf is Fafnir. Wait a sec. Wolf." Fafnir looked up from his place at her feet, then stood up. "Smell. Protect. No biting, or I'll skin you alive." Fafnir padded around to Miette and sniffed her carefully.
Fine. What is with this? You are picking up human strays now?
"Well, they're pretty much not human, and no, not strays. Strays is me. So. Bleaching hair. Nice to meet you, Miette. Cool name. Um. Cat around here is Sidhe. Kitten, more like. You need a kitten? You can have her. Looking for a home right about now, is Sidhe. Sparra's round here some place. Ike can fill you in, most like." Mouse shook her head and backed away. " Nevyn, down." Nevyn slid off her back and dropped to the ground, before scampering out of the way. "Too many people. Going. See ya!" She more or less fled upstairs to the bathroom, then slid down the tiled wall, hyperventilating. Too much. Just too much.
Isaac, Zac, Oliver and Miette
"Speaking of which," Isaac said.
He lifted Taylor's glass, telekinetically turn the tap on, filled it with water and floated it into the living room, above Taylor's head. A moment later it had turned upside, pouring water all over Taylor, roughly about the same time Zac jumped up in the air, pumping his fist in the air and yelling "Yes! I win! I so rock!"
"Rats," Oliver said, and then stared at Taylor who was dripping with water.
While this was occuring, Diana informed Miette that Mouse was alien too.
"Really? Cool. They're all coming out of the woodwork these days. What power does she have?"
"Empathy, but she appears more in tune with animals than people."
"Ahh, that would explain the wolf and the rat," Miette paused, and then a sly smile crossed her face. "I think I might go see if she wants some help with the hair dying."
Isaac chuckled as she trotted out of the room in the direction Mouse had gone in. She knocked at the bathroom door, and frowned hearing some odd noises.
"Mouse?" She asked curiously. "It's Miette. You can call me, Mi, if you want though. I thought you might like some help dying your hair?"
Mouse
Mouse looked up, still breathing hard. Calm down. Just calm down. no one was going to hurt her here. She was safe. Safe. She got shakily to her feet and crossed over to the door. "Hi. Um. Yes, help would be nice. Or at least someone to talk to while my scalp is burning." She backed away from Miette's hand. "Please, don't touch me. Not personal. Just, too many emotions to cope with. I'm not used to people. Come in." Mouse turned back to her stuff.
Taylor
Taylor calmly stared at the TV for a moment, his lips pursed.
Then he slowly raised his eyebrows and turned in Isaac's direction.
"Ike, you take this any further, and you'll never be able to walk through a park safely again," he couldn't help but smile, "don't forget the magpie incident. I can do that again and more."
Then he looked at Oliver.
"Sibling rivalry at it's finest," he chuckled, "the Hansons are the best you can get, eh Zac?"
The Folk
Fafnir shook his head in disgust. All of you, puppies. Except for maybe you. But that water thing was very undignified. He nudged Taylor with his head. Tell the idiot what I said. The wolf laughed then. But you better get yourself cleaned off. Pup. What Mouse is all enamoured about, I'm sure I don't know. Perhaps it's the fact we're willing to talk to you.
She's gonna be annoyed at you for syaing that! Sidhe sing songed from the couch, climbing up it to stare at the wolf cockily. Two leggers are so funny. Hehehe! Sidhe giggled, then fell off the couch with a yelp. Ow. That hurt. Ooh, string! The kitten bounced off, then started to stalk Ike's feet. Feetfeetfeet! Eeeeeee! She pounced, then started to bite and claw at his sneakers, chanting joyfully, Feetfeetfeetfeet!
Taylor
"We've had many a water fight in the house before, it's all good," Taylor said to Fafnir, then turned in Ike's direction again.
"The wolf says that was very undignified Ike," he chuckled, "and reckons you're all pups, except for me of course. And says you're an idiot."
Taylor grinned. Then he looked at Sparra.
"I think the only reason you don't mind talking ot me is because you can," he raised his eyebrows, speaking in both wolf and bird, "and while I'm at it... does anyone know how to calm the kitten down? Not that pestering Ike isnn't amusing in itself."
The Folk
Eeeeee! Feetfeetfeet! Sidhe twisted and then sprang off his feet. Pounce, pounce, pounce! Fafnir padded over and lifted the kitten up delicately by the scruff of her neck. Oi! Stinking canid, let go! Sidhe dangled protesting from Fafnir's teeth.
Is that enough? Shut up, kitten. Here, keep the blasted thing before I forget and eat her. Fafnir dumped Sidhe on the couch, and the kitten immediately sprang up and ran up the stairs.
MOUSE! The wolf is picking on me! She skittered away out of sight.
Damn. Now, I know that's going to get me in trouble. The wolf sighed in exasperation. Why does she always havta pick up the annoying little things? I mean, if she'd just let me eat them it would save us so much trouble... Fafnir grumbled as he lay down again.
Isaac, Zac, Oliver and Miette
"You know what Tay?" Isaac said. "I don't care how dangerous you make it for me walking through parks. Unless you stop being so juvinile as to tease me about Miette right in front of her, I'm going to find ways to torment you in return."
"So, what you're saying is that we're allowed to tease you about Miette, just not in front of her?" Zac asked, a mischevious grin crossing his face.
"Well, y'know, I'd rather not get teased at all, but let's face it, that is asking way too much of you. And besides, if the tables were turned, I'd probably want to tease you guys."
"I have a really good idea," Oliver put in. "How about no one teases Ike about Mi in front of either her or me. I don't wanna know. I don't want to think about it. Bad mental images and all that."
"Sorry, man," Zac said.
"I'm telling you, you're all lucky it's me who's here and not Jason. He can be really protective of Mi sometimes, older brother syndrome, y'know? He's probably have a few things to say to certain people here. And it wouldn't be all verbal."
"I consider myself warned," Isaac commented, with a small smile.
Meanwhile, Miette had walked into the bathroom.
"You know..." she said softly. "You don't actually need to burn your sculp, if you don't want to. I've never actually dyed hair before, as such. I'm alien too, you see. Hybrid, though - only half of me is alien. My specialty power is Light. I can manipulated it in anyway I chose, and that includes colours. I change my hair colour just by thinking about it."
To demonstrate, Miette's hair turned indigo. With silver streaks. Just as she had mentioned to Isaac prevously that she was thinking of changing it to.
"If you tell me what shade you want I can change your hair too..." Miette offered.
Mouse
"Ah." Mouse stared at the girl, vaguely aware her mouth was hanging open, then she blinked and shook her head. "Wow. Um. White, like white blonde. I'm very bored. Brown is good for when I'm travelling, and I can dye it back later if I want. And hybrid? Cool. I have no idea what I am. I just found out that aliens even existed, let alone that I was one of them a few days ago. I broke into the house, which has turned out to be one of the smarter things I've done. Besides the general hiding and running that my life's been most of the time. Um. Am I freaking you out too much? I'm babbling. Sorry. Not paricualrily comfortable around people." Mouse could feel her foot tapping, and she stopped it with an effort. "So. White blond would be cool."
Taylor
"So you're saying we could still tease Ike about Mi in front of you, but just keep it PG?" Taylor grinned at Oliver.
He glanced at Zac.
"I think we can manage it... sometimes. I apologize in advance if we go R rated," he chuckled, "but before anything else happens to me, I'm going to grab a towel and check on the girls."
Then he looked to Ike as he stood up.
"And don't worry, I know Mi's spoken for," he grinned, before rushing upstairs and banging on the bathroom door.
"Hey! Girls! Can I get in there for a second?" he called, standing back slightly.
Mouse
Mouse jumped in fright. "Ah!" She noticed Miette's curious stare, and shook her head, grinning slightly. "I've had some bad experiences. Keep telling myself I'm safe here and I can relax, even just a little bit...but it doesn't always hold. But I'm always a bit jumpy." She walked over to the door, and opened it. "Hi." Sidhe scrambled in, and then climbed straight up Mouse's clothes. "Ok, whoa, whoa, calm down. Ow! No, no, that's definetly part of me, and ow! OW!" Mouse hissed in pain as the kitten's claws sunk into her skin. "Stop it!" She tried to grab the cat, and failed miserably. "And ow, and OW! And most certainly, ow! Dammit!" She finally grabbed the black and white blur, who then just purred at her.
Hiya. Wasn't that fun?
"Argh! Cats. Not fun. So not fun, you, you, imp! Ow! Did I say ow? I most certainly did! Several times. Brat."
Wolf was mean.
"Don't care. I'm annoyed at you at the moment." Sidhe did the cat equivalent of quivering her lip and showing glittering tears. "Oh, you're not getting out of that easily. Don't be cute. I'm *bleeding* under my clothes, you little minx. You are so in trouble, kitty. Big trouble. Ow, and that does still hold. The scratches sting, dammit." Mouse had one scratch down her cheek, which was slowly welling blood, and she raised a hand to her face in disgust. "Gotta be careful with your claws, cat. That could've got my eye. And ow."
Miette
"I don't mind you babbling," Miette smiled. "I babble all the time. Fun."
She didn't even bat an eyelid as she changed Mouse's hair colour.
"That that what you want? Lighter? Darker? Actually, Up until recently I didn't even know there were other aliens around. Well, I knew, but I'd never met any - well, didn't realise I had met any. My Dad... he's rather... strict about this alien stuff. he won't use his powers and he always told me and Oliver never to use ours," a cheeky grin lit up her face. "But we do anyway. Mum, and my other brothers know we use them, but they don't tell Dad."
"Kitty's not being very nice to you, huh?" Miette commented.
It was about this point that they were all disturbed by Taylor's knocking.
"I sense it's about to get rather crowded in here."
Taylor
Taylor hesitated for a moment, then took hold of Sidhe from Mouse as she continued to complain. He hushed the kitten for a moment, until she calmed down.
"Now... Sidhe?" he looked up at Mouse for confirmation, before realizing he was only talking in cat...
"You see these at the end of your paws?" he gently lifted one of the kitten's feet, and used a little trick he knew to extend a claw, "these are called 'claws'. If you dig them into someone, they will hurt. Alot. Don't dig your claws into someone unless you're attacking them, or the tables may turn."
He grinned slightly, before setting the kitten on the floor. Then he looked to Mouse and Mi, who hadn't as yet realized he was soaking wet.
"Ah... a towel would be good. The cupboard behind you?"
Mouse
"And ow." Mouse sighed and finished her minor rant. "Towel. Towel is... here." She bent down and opened a cupboard, throwing the towel to Taylor. "And...you're very, very wet."
Strange other sib two legger poured nasty water over cat two legger. Sidhe said chirpily. /Stay away, you're all wet. No fun./ Sidhe moved away from Taylor.
"And yeah, I'd havta go with Sidhe. Not having an overabununce of clothes. Get dry. Oh! Like my new hair colour? Miette did it, so no screaming in pain. S'cool. I want her power, not empathy. Empathy gives me a head ache."
Taylor
"It's cool," Taylor admitted, "just watch out for blonde jokes. There's no shortage of them in this household."
He opened the towel and began to dry his face and hair.
"I think I'll go get changed, it's getting a bit cold," he admitted with a grin, his bottom lip shivering.
He slung the towel over his shoulders, nodded a thanks, and made his way into his bedroom. He pulled out a change of clothes and threw them on the bed before closing the door and drying himself off more. His eyes couldn't help but wander over Mouse's stuff as he got changed.
Finally, thinking he was dry enough, he grabbed the wet towel and clothes to take to the laundry, and made his way back out.
Mouse
Mouse sighed and rubbed the back of her head with a hand. "Blonde jokes. I can cope with that. S'won't be the worst I've had to cope with. Thanks for doing my hair." She smiled at Miette, then looked away again as she always did. "The whole lack of burning scalp is very appreciated. Do they have some antiseptic in here?" Mouse rolled up her long sleeves, exposing blue Celtic knotwork tattoo bracelets. She noticed Miette's stare. "You like? I'm heavy on the ink. There's a wolf running across my back, a red Chinese dragon around my left ankle, sparrow on my hip and a black cat on my shoulder. Oh, and the Chinese symbol for Rat on my other ankle. Mouse is on the opposite side." She grinned. "You're the first one in the house who's seen them. Be proud, girl!"
Miette
"Oh wow, they're awesome," Miette said, her eyes wide. "When did you get them done?"
Miette reached out for Sidhe abesntly and started patting her with long strokes down her back.
Mouse
"Here and there. Usually when I picked my family up. F'r instance, I got Nevyn's one done by a nephew of the Creole healer who saw me for an empath and helped me deal a bit. The bracelets I had done when a few months ago, when I got the dragon done. Quite a few tat places where they don't really care how old they are. Always got Nevyn to check 'em out though. Make sure they were clean and stuff." Mouse cocked her head as she listened hard for a moment.
"Dinner'll be soon, guys. Wash up!" She could hear Diane say faintly.
"That's Mrs Hanson. Wash hands and head downstairs, would I think be the thing to do." Mouse suited action to word, and started to head out the door. "Thanks, again."
