10 February 2003 - The Collar

The Spider

Suffice to say, Craig was infuriated.

And incredibly irritated.

Frustrated.

Not to mention humiliated.

And the loss of his telepathic abilities mad him feel castrated.

Or maybe mutilated.

If a movie were to be made about this point in his life, you know the amount of swearing would make it M-rated.

Isaac, Ashley and Oliver were now on the list of people he hated.

Which was a rather long list, unlike that of people he dated.

Although, most of the people of the former list were most likely dead, Craig estimated.

Well, what do you expect would happen when his nerves were grated?

Without this telepathy to get him by day to day, Craig was struggling with the world being so regulated.

But he refused to believe that his capture and trial were fated.

Craig struggled without result to remove that telepathic collar which made him so aggrivated.

His lack of success made him very exasperated.

Craig kept trying, even though the collar could only be taken off by whom it had been created.

And only Ga'Revali Masters could create such a collar, of which there are only two on Earth, one male, one female, and the extent of their abilities was by no means overrated.

Craig did not feel he could trick a master, thus he must find a way to have one - or both - coerced or otherwise bated.

This was the tighest squeeze he had ever been in, but he would emerge elated.

Christian

Christian watched from afar as Craig struggled with the collar. He must have tried to use his telekinesis on it over a hundred times by now... he hated seeing him like this.

With a cough, he stood up from the other side of the room.

"Ah... Craig? Want something to eat?" he offered.

He was desperately trying to think of ways to get back at the people who'd done this to him.

The Spider

"No," Craig replied abruptly.

There was silence for what seemed like forever.

"There is only one thing for it," Craig said at last. "I have to get back to my base. That's where all my telepathic equipment is."

He stood, relived that he had taken the time previously to create those things. Some required tangable parts, but all required telepathic energy, and that may be the only thing that could help him right now.

"Christian," Craig said, turning to him, "I need you to do me a favour. You see, I may need a telepath to help me use some of my tools. However, I also know that I will need someone easily manipulatable, as I can't use my usual methods. That suggests a child. But a child isn't much use to me if they are too untrained."

He paused and a large smirk crossed his face.

"But I happen to know that there is a child with a master potential. I want you to take her and meet me at my base. The girl is not yet aware of her full potential, so be careful, but she shouldn't pose much of a problem. Nonetheless, try to pick her up when she's alone," Carig continued, his eyes glittering in anticipation. "Her name is - it's rather ironic - Avery Hanson."

Christian

Christian looked up, startled.

"Avery Hanson? But..."

He hesitated with a frown.

"That's Isaac's younger sister."

He stopped and thought for a moment, before sitting down again.

"How do you expect me to persuade a telepath? She'd know who I was at first glance... And by the way, isn't there a camp coming up soon for those kids?"

The Spider

"Yes, yes she is Isaac's sister. And I'm not suggesting you ask her politely to come with you."

Craig shook his head.

"I would also not advise you to pick her up at this camp," he paused thoughtfully. "However, on the way to the camp might be better. I'd suggest after the camp, but it may be easier to catch her before she learns any new tricks. There's always a bus that picks up the telepaths. It always makes pit stops and, depending on where the camp is this year, they may end up stopping at a motor inn or something on the way if it involves an overnight trip."

Craig tapped his finger on his leg.

"Now, where was it they were holding the camp this year? I'm certain it's not in Oklahoma... ahh, you'll find out I'm sure. Your telepathic shield will still be working despite this, so you're safe in that department."

Christian

Christian grinned.

"Sounds good to me. Man... imagine what we could get up to if the telepath wasn't around the Hanson's house. We could even get closer to Isaac himself."

His eyes flashed toward Craig.

"Should be fun for a few people," he chuckled, "but ok. Finding out where the camp is. Is it mentioned on the YIRAAS web page maybe?"

The Spider

"That web site is probably a good starting point," Craig agreed.

He fumbled around with his wallet and stared blankly at the contents of it for a moment.

"Ahh," he said woefully. "So this is what I have come to. Using the human monetary system! I've almost forgotten what all this means."

He regarded Christian for a moment.

"Always remember to plan for any contingancy," Craig advised him. "I put aside some money, not ever expecting that I would need it. I created those tools even though I 'knew' that if I ever need them I could make them where I was. Well, I never foresaw this collar, Christian, and even though I felt it was a waste of time when I went to the trouble of creating back up supplies and plans, now I am grateful for it."

Christian

"Life is so easy for a telepath," Christian shook his head.

"Ok, so... say we get the girl from a motel or whatever. I successfully take her in and get her back to... wherever it is we're going to keep her. What are you going to do with her?"

The Spider

"I may need her to help me operate the equipment I have at the base that might help me get this darn collar off."

He gave Christian a long look.

"You do remember where my base is don't you?"

Christian

Christian hesitated.

"I haven't been to the Tulsan one in years. You'd better enlighten me," he frowned, "last time I was here, my father was still alive."

He shuddered at the memory of his death.

"Sorry. Damn this," he shook his head, "I'll get her for you. Anything to get that thing off."

The Spider

Craig stared at him.

"You must be thinking of something else. I only have the one base. Yukon, Canada. Off Old Airport Road in Yellowknife."

He stood and packed a few items into his bag.

"I will be off now. If you get lost, you know how to contact me. I'll met you and our little Avery at the base - the sooner the better."

Christian

Christian shook his head, confused.

"Yeah, must have been something else."

Closing his eyes for a moment, he tried to think of what to do.

"Umm... yeah, I'll meet you there. After the tournament. I'll bring the girl."

And with that, he left to return to his hotel room he still accommodated near the cafe`.
