8 February 2003 - Oliver in the USA

Oliver/Leroy

Leroy and Oliver stepped off the plane. After they picked up their luggage, Oliver looked around, and then laughed to himself.

"You'd think with all the people I've met from the States lately there'd be someone here to greet us."

Leroy just smiled.

An hour or so later they checked into a B&B. After doing some unpacking, Oliver located a certain phone number he had obtained, picked up the phone and dialed.

Ash

Ashley was watching an old tour video he'd helped edit when he heard his cell phone ringing.

"Aw man..." he complained, as it was getting to a favourite part on the tape.

Grumbling, he pressed pause on the remote, and bounded off the couch and down the hallway to the phone.

He hesitated, thinking it might be Mindy.

He shook his head, thinking of what an idiot he was, before picking it up.

"Hello?"

Oliver

"Umm, hi," Oliver said. "Uhh, is Ashley there? This is... err. this is Oliver."

All of a sudden he was nervous. Figure that out.

Ash

"Oliver?"

Ashley hesitated for a moment, his brain ticking over.

"Oh, Oliver from the 'net? Hey! I didn't expect you to call! It's Ash by the way..." he grinned.

Oliver

"Oh hey, cool," Oliver replied. "Yeah, I really intended to call you when I asked for your number. Obviously. Wow, you sound totally different on the phone."

Then he realised how stupid that sounded.

"Well, that, ahh... what I mean is... I didn't expect you to sound the way you sound... uhh... do you know what I mean, or am I digging myself into an even bigger hole?"

Ash

"I know what you mean," Ashley chuckled, rolling his eyes.

Then he hesitated.

"Ah... so did you have a reason for calling? I don't wanna sound rude or anything," he laughed, "when are you coming to the US? Is... oh my God, is Leroy there?"

Oliver

"Oh, I'm silly," Oliver laughed. "I'm calling because I am in the US. We arrived a bit over an hour ago. And yes, Uncle Leroy is here. He's just finishing his unpacking and then he's going to have a nap, y'know, before jet lag catches up with him. Hey you wanna meet up somewhere?"

Ash

"You're here? In Tulsa? That was quick," Ash laughed, "and hey sure, it'd be cool to meet up with you. I might see if I can grab Ike to come with me... I think he's supposed to be working, but knowing him he'd probably want time away from Zac."

Ashley hesitated, trying to think of what they'd be up to.

"So ah... today? You want to meet today? Where abouts are you?"

Oliver

"Well, I did tell you we were coming down about a week before the tournament," Oliver shrugged. "Umm, do you suppose you could bring Jess? We met eariler this month. Oh and we're staying at this B and B."

Oliver then proceeded to give Ash the address.

Ash

"A week...?" Ashley looked at a nearby calendar, "Holy crap, time goes by fast."

He slapped his forehead, and shook his head.

"Ah, yeah? I guess I could bring Jess. I don't really know what she's up to at the moment with her brothers in studio and that... but Ike should know where she is. I'll get on the phone to them. Where do you want to meet up?"

He chuckled.

"I'll tell you what. There's a nice cafe` nearby called Maria's," he hesitated for a moment, "want to meet there this afternoon? If you can find it?"

Oliver

"I'm sure I can find it," Oliver said, not sure at all. "What time?"

Ash

"Let's make it around 5pm. The cafe` shuts at about 7 or 8, so it'd give us plenty of time. We could even tour around for a while afterward," Ash grinned, "I'll get on the phone to Jess or Ike as soon as you hang up."

Oliver

"Okay, sounds good to me. See you then," Oliver said.

They hang up, and Oliver wandered into Leroy's room.

"I hope you don't mind, I just made plans to meet up with some of my friends."

"Which ones are these?"

"Ash and Jess. And Isaac - he's actually Mi's friend."

Leroy nodded. Normally he wouldn't neccesarily be happy about someone under his charge meeting up with internet pals, but after all, these people were members of YIRAAS and he felt it would be okay. Partly because he had already checked them out in the database, and whatnot.

"Okay, that's fine. Just don't get back too late."

"Okay."
