Varian and Astrid
Varian spread kher wings, sunning kherself on the roof of the mansion. Nice. Hot sun, no one to bother one...
Kher dozed happily, soaking up the warmth.
Astrid watched from above, whispering to a small bird which was hypnotized by her powers. She stroked its head one more time, then let it go. It fluttered down to the roofridge near Varian and warbled.
Varian cracked open an eye and then got a lot more interested, tail twitching ever so slightly. The bird flew off. Khe flapped kher's wings, rising into the air and shifting into a more streamlined, smaller form to hunt with. The bird flew crazily, tempting Varian into following it beyond the school's borders.
Astrid pounced.
A scream of rage rang out for a moment, and then a black feather floating to the earth was all that remained.
~*~*~*~
Astrid knocked on Blakesley's door, small cage behind her rocking slightly from side to side and a furious hissing and growling coming out of it.
Blakesley opened the door.
"Yes?"
"Have a present for you, scientist. Milady wishes that you continue this experiment, so I went and fetched it for you."
A sudden comprhension bloomed on Blakesley's face and he closed the door to unhook the security chain.
"Can you bring it in?"
Astrid bent and picked up the black cage. The hisses gained volume, shifting as she walked inside to a lilting little girl's voice spitting out filthy curses in a rising litany.
"F*cking motherf*cker, let me out, let me go, I'll f*cking kill you, I'm going to f*cking bathe in your f*cking blood, f*cking bastard, bastard, bitch, you are so f*cking dead, motherf*cker! Bitch, let me the f*ck out!"
"Varian did not know those words when it left," Blakesley commented, getting out his keys to unlock the door.
"Also, milady wishes you to know that soon She hopes to have arranged a full research facility for you, and also expert staff," Astrid said, similarly ignoring the screams from inside the cage in her arms.
"That would be good," Blakesley said, opening the door.
"You can set that down in the corner."
Astrid entered.
"And also, milady has found one of your former compatriots."
"Yes?"
"Danjermond."
"Danjermond's dead," Blakesley said.
"That doesn't always mean the same thing," Astrid said as she put down the cage.
"He's dead, yes, but he was vamped."
A resounding snarl echoed out of the box.
"Ah."
Blakesley nodded slightly.
"Still useful," Astrid said as she unlocked the door and reached a hand on to bring Varian out.
A snarl, then a wail as she hauled the genetic hybrid out. Varian blinekd purple eyes as kher was placed on the dloor, tail lashing from side to side and small sparks of flame coming from kher mouth. Khe spotted Blakesley and shifted into a human form.
"F*cking whitecoat!"
Khe tried to dive at Blakesley, then clutched at kher's head and wailed in pain. Blakesley looked at Astrid.
"What did you do?"
"Magick," Astrid said, preening slightly.
"Watch."
She put her hand in Varian's mouth. The hybrid went to bite down, eyes gleaming with anger and hatred, then backed off, whimpering slightly.
"It can't leave the room unless it's in the cage, either."
"Fascinating," Blakesley murmured.
Varian snarled at Blakesley and retreated under the table.
Christian & Blakesley Snr
Christian shivered as Blakesley's father ran a cold hand down his side.
"I shall be back in a moment."
"Don't rush yourself. Take all the time you need."
Isaac smiled slightly, not hearing any usual bite in his words. He grabbed a couple of daggers from the cupboard and placed them inside his jacket, before making his way to the door, and leaving the room.
Christian grunted and banged his head down onto the table.
Blakesley's father made his way down the hallway, stopping short at the sight of company.
Astrid and Varian
Astrid nodded slightly at the older man in greeting and recognition.
"I must go. If there's anything else, you will be contacted. Fare thee well."
She inclined her head, then walked out the door. As she opened it, Varian shot at the space, form slimming down and becoming more snakelike. Khe hit an invisible barrier and rebounded, shaking kher head in dazed confusion. Astrid smiled slightly and closed the door. Varian leapt for it again a moment too late, smacking into the wood with a thud. The corner of Blakesley's mouth curved up in an amused smile.
"Father, this is Varian. The most successful of my experiments to date. When Jane's children are born...it may be a different matter."
Varian shifted forms fluidly, becoming a small blonde, violet eyed china doll of a girl. She glared at Blakesley, one fine hand rubbing at her head.
"You are so dead, there aren't even words, motherf*cking bastard son of a fleabitten bitch."
She snapped needlesharp teeth at him, fangs bared and eyes shining with bloodlust.
Blakesley Snr
Isaac nodded, watching the creature fume.
"Interesting. Returned by the God's messenger I assume?" he raised an eyebrow.
Varian
"Yes," Blakesley said.
"Apparently she wants me to continue this experiment."
Varian spat at him, before running a curious hand over the couch, humming slightly to herself.
"I must say, it has matured faster then I expected."
"It's called a growth spurt, whitecoat. You didn't understand completely what you made me from," she singsonged.
"One is surprised that you do not know, but one can see now that you didn't. Silly little mortal."
She flickered, becoming a redheaded boy, then an Asian boy, then a girl, then a naga, then back to a dragon form. Khe puffed smoke disdainfully at Blakesley.
Blakesley Snr
The old man cracked his knuckles.
"And what, exactly, is the purpose of this experiment?"
Varian
"To see what is possible," Blakesley said.
Varian growled, and slunk down behind a chair.
"And to see exactly how long the gentic splicing will hold. Some experiments...collapsed."
Blakesley Snr
"Very well," Isaac nodded.
"Let me know how you go. For now, I mustn't keep young Christian waiting."
He went to fetch something from the kitchen.
Varian
"Since Varian has been returned here," Blakesley said.
"I can only hope that the Goddess follows through on her messenger's promise that I get some research facilites. Which I find extremely likely."
He picked Varian up by the scruff of the neck, the hyrbrid twisting and going to strike, then crying out in pain. Khe shifted forms rapidly, trying to make Blakesley drop kher, but the scientist managed to keep hold while he walked down to the room. He pushed the door open and stepped in.
Varian twisted again, trying to fight but failing, wailing in fear and pain.
"Oh, hush."
Purple eyes gleamed with hate and Varian morphed into a human shape, spitting curses with venomous accuracy. Once again, the innocent looking little blonde girl.
"F*CKING BITE ME, MOTHERF*CKER!"
Christian
Christian looked up from the table as they entered and raised his eyebrows.
"What the $#!+ is that?"
Then he chuckled as he heard it cursing.
"Ok, whatever it is, I like it already."
Varian
"This...is Varian," Blakesley said.
He dropped Varian who went to kick him, whimpered in pain slightly, then ducked under the table.
"F*cking asshole! You had your f*cking chance, can't you just let me f*cking LIVE?! I'm not your f*cking labrat no more, f*cking bite me, you f*cking sheepf*cker!"
All in the high lisping little girl voice.
Christian & Blakesley Snr
Christian chuckled again.
"You go girl. Or... whatever you are."
Isaac found what he was looking for, and began to head back tot he room.
Varian
Varian poked her head over the edge of the table.
"Thank you."
"It's a genetic hybrid," Blakesley said.
"One of the more complicated works to date that has actually survived."
Varian flipped him the bird.
"Sit and spin, whitecoat."
Christian & Blakesley Snr
Christian looked Varian over.
"Ok. I am really liking you. Call him Kaleb. Annoys him more."
Isaac made it to the door, stepped through, then went to set something up in the cupboard again.
Varian
Varian grinned and licked pointed teeth.
"I'm going to eat him when I figure out this spell," she informed Christian.
"What are you? Do you have a serial number?"
Christian & Blakesley Snr
"A wha...?"
"History, Christian," came Isaac's voice, "Varian was born in a laboratory. Varian, this is Christian. He was brought in from the outside."
Varian
"Hmm."
Varian studied Christian, facial features morphing to mirror his as a small child's, keeping the blond hair.
"Lucky you then. Tests, tests and more f*cking tests..."
He yelped and tried to move as Blakesley held onto his shoulder and slid a syringe into his vein.
"OW! MOTHERF*CKER, GET THE F*CK OFF ME!"
The scientist calmly withdrew blood, ignoring Varian's yelps and struggles, broken off periodically by the blinding pain in his head.
Christian
"That's just $#!+ing freaky," Christian shook his head, turning it so he could see Blakesley's father.
He took a deep breath.
"Guess I have some company again. Although I think I like this one..."
Varian
Varian rubbed his arm as the scientist studied the blood carefully.
"You know, I know vampires that are nicer then you. Spike-"
Blakesley looked up suddenly.
"Spike? William the Bloody?"
"Oh, f*ck."
Varian put his hands over his mouth and shook his head to indicate he wasn't saying anything else.
Christian & Blakesley Snr
"William the Bloody?" Isaac looked up in interest.
Christian looked between Varian and Blakesley, an odd look on his face.
Varian
"Lalalalalalalala!" Varian sang, eyes closed, hands over his ears.
Blakesley sighed slightly.
"When dealing with Varian, it is best to remeber that it was only born...November last year. Despite the surprising physical maturity and advanced intelligence."
Christian
Christian pulled a face for a moment.
"Well... at least this could be fun."
He looked Varian over.
"And interesting."
He wondered exactly how daring Varian was.
Varian
Varian lost interest again and wandered off. He stared at Isaac.
"You smell like blood and other's pain. Do you like to make people scream?"
His eyes were wide and innocent looking, deep purple pools of childlike curiosity.
"I can smell it on you, you know. You eat flesh. It's like..."
He licked his lips slightly.
"Home."
Christian
Isaac adjusted his coat, pulling it further over his shoulders.
"Indeed," he nodded.
Christian couldn't hide the fact that what had happened eleven days before had made him sick.
Varian
Varian swayed in closer for a second, then spun away.
"Predators know each other. I've never eaten human before though."
He looked at Christian.
"Or alien."
He giggled, voice going higher as he shifted into a little Asian girl.
"I saw the blood flow, the fires reaching high and the storms tear the world to pieces."
She spun to look at Blakesley, almost stalking him as she walked across the small room.
"Your time is ending, whitecoat. I have felt it in the winds. Scented it in the air. You have never understood magick, let alone dragons."
"You're only half dragon, Varian," Blakesley said.
"Enough to know what is, you pitiful little man."
She spat at him, the spittle landing on near his feet.
"You're all going to diiiieeeeeeee..." she sang.
Christian
"So?" Christian raised his eyebrows.
Isaac looked Christian over, then made his way to the cupboard.
Varian
Varian almost waltxed over to him, leaning on the table.
"Well, you might not care, but Blakesley does. He doesn't want to die," she confided to Christian.
Blakesley rolled his eyes in derision.
"But everything's coming together. Oh yes."
She smiled happily, scratching the back of her leg with her shoe.
"You still have a role to play. Something...I read Shakespeare when I was at the school. Xavier has a most extensive library. How does it feel to play Iago, Macbeth and Edgar, whitecoat? Notice how they all have something in common? They all...die."
She grinned at Blakesley and stuck her tongue out.
"How do you feel like being iced, Varian?"
She snarled at him and made a sulky face.
Christian
"It's no question whether Blakesley's going to die or not," Christian insisted, watching Varian, "it just depends on when and how. Personally, I'd like to draw it out."
Varian
"Make it painful," Varian agreed.
"He does deserve it to be long. Have you learnt?"
Christian
"Learnt what?" Christian raised an eyebrow.
Isaac began looking through the gags.
Varian
"How to do it, silly," Varian said.
"How to make him scream."
Blakesley shook his head slightly.
"Unlikely, Varian."
"My whole existence is impossible, and you say that?"
Varian made a noise of contempt.
"Phobos draconis," she hissed at Blakesley and flicked her fingers, eyes widening impossibly large. (Dragon fear.)
Blakesley met her glare and stood his ground, face whightening slightly.
"Do I need to remind you of what happened the last time you tried this trick on me?" he said steadily.
Varian uttered a noise like an enraged cat, swaying slightly, purple eyes fixed on Blakesley's blue ones.
"Submissio, alba," she crooned. (Submit to me, white one.)
"Submissio..."
She flicked her tongue over needle like teeth.
"Mea imperio, alba, submissio..." (I command thee, white one, submit...)
Christian
"He doesn't much like the sound or feel of his bones breaking," Christian said thoughtfully.
"He almost screamed because of that once. I shouldn't have held his mouth shut."
Varian
Varian would have giggled if she hadn't been concentrating so hard.
She swayed from side to side, eyes open and limpid as she sought to bring Blakesley down under the hypnotic command.
"Submissio, mea imperio, submissio, alba, submissio..."
Blakesley shook his head roughly, breaking the trance. He blinked, then glared at Varian.
"Oh well. Worth a try."
She shrugged philosophically.
"Try that again, and I'll kill you myself," he warned her.
Christian
"Sure you will," Christian rolled his eyes, then looked up at the cieling.
"There seems to a lot of taking back on death threats."
Varian
"Unlike you, Varian can be far more dangerous if it puts its mind to it," Blakesley said.
Varian fluttered her eyelashes like a Southern belle.
"Why, Ah do declah Ah have never been so flattered," she drawled in a perfect mimicry of a Carolina accent.
"Scared of little ol' me?"
Christian
"Oh now you're asking for it. That was definately an insult."
Christian glared at the ceiling.
"As soon as I get my powers back..."
Varian
Varian hopped up onto the table, swinging her legs slightly.
"What he means is, I'm far more of a random introduction into an equation then you'll ever be," she said to Christian.
"No one knows what I can do...not even me. I think I could end the world if I decided to."
She grinned.
"When I'm bigger, anyway."
Christian
"No one knows what the heck I'm capable of," Christian shrugged, "but I've never bothered to find out. I have no idea of my power level, cos it's kinda..."
He frowned slightly.
"Mixed, I guess."
Varian
"Hmmm..."
Varian looked at Christian thoughtfully.
"Yes, power."
She grinned.
"This is going to be fun."
Christian
"Reckon you could get this collar off my throat for a second?" Christian raised his eyebrows at Varian.
"I think we've spent enough time chattering for the moment," Isaac broke in.
Varian
"Later," Varian murmured.
"And do you really think so, old man?"
The small girl melted into something scaled and ferocious looking, straight out a nightmare. Khe spread kher's wings and bared daggerlike teeth at Isaac and Blakesley. The dragon's stance suggested that they just come and try something. It would be ready.
Christian
Christian grinned.
"With the magics on you at the moment, Varian, I would suggest not trying our patience," Isaac said absently, continuing to sort the instruments in the cupboard.
Varian
Varian's tail lashed, beating softly against the side of the metal bed. Kher's claws gripped at the edge as it reared up on its backlegs, wings spread to keep its balance.
The eerily violet eyes continued to glow with malice.
Blakesley studied the dragon, blue eyes thoughtful. It had a far wider range of access to forms then it had displayed in the labratory.
Khe hissed, low and warningly, the echo of a manic growl following it.
I could kill you despite that. It will not take me that long to slip this, this obscenity. Ashtoreth's magic is akin to mine own. One side of it, anyway. I can make life very uncomfortable for you.
A cloud appeared above Isaac's head, and then rain started to pour down from the localised weather disturbance.
Christian
Isaac hesitated, his facial expression turning to a frown.
He turned to Kaleb as Christian chuckled.
"I would advise you sedate this creature before I lose my temper, Kaleb."
Varian
Blakesley moved to his cabinet to get a sedative.
Varian closed one eye in a solemn wink at Christian, then dove off the table, sliding out the door and up the wall.
"Oh, damn."
Blakesley shook his head and went to play hide and seek with the genetic hybrid. At least, it couldn't get outside the house.
The rainstorm continued unabated, a sly telepathic giggle running through their minds.
Games it is then, whitecoat. Come and catch me, motherf*cker, if you can.
Christian
Isaac moved to stand over Christian, so the cloud would rain down on him as well.
Christian spluttered a little as the water hit, then turned his head away so he could breath.
"Petty, I know. But if it helps," Isaac shrugged.
Varian
Blakesley stalked through his own house, feeling very cross indeed.
He had forgotten how much of a prankster Varian was. Even when it had been confined to a cage, it had managed to scare and taunt the staff.
"Here, kitty, kitty, kitty," he murmured under his breath.
Violet eyes watched his every move from the ceiling. Khe had assumed a form somewhat like a gecko, but larger.
Christian
"And what the f*** is this supposed to do?" Christian spat, "it hardly even knows me. It's not like it's gonna care if something happens."
Isaac ran his fingers through Christian's hair, making him shiver.
"Don't be doing that $hit," he shook his head.
"And why not?"
"Asshole."
Varian
Blakesley looked under the furniture, expecting to hear a hiss or growl, purple eyes glowing at him from the darkness.
But he still didn't look up.
Varian made kher way silently down the hallway, suckerpads enabling it to move without detection. Kher slid over a door lintel into a bathroom and settled to testing the magic to see if it could get outside.
Christian
Isaac traced a hand down Christian's face, and held his jaw.
"Name calling is a very childish expedition," he began in a soft voice.
He looked down at his hip, then smiled and looked up again.
"I might get a little hungry later."
Varian
Blakesley ran his hand through his hair in frustration.
Where could it have gotten to?
Varian was becoming steadily frustrated, getting knocked back by the barrier the spell put on kher movements.
The storm cloud sparked lightning.
Christian
"Get your hands off me."
"Why?"
"Cos I $#!+ing said so."
Isaac let his hand slip slightly to Christian's throat, and tightened his grip slightly.
"Do not take that tone of voice with me Christian."
Varian
Blakesley stepped up behind Varian, the glass pane of the bathroom window scored with scratchmarks and slid the needle in behind a soft flap of skin.
Varian crumpled and Blakesley caught the dragon as it fell off the windowsill. He walked back down to the room, one arm cradling the limp scaled form.
"Caught it."
He took in the scene.
"Christian, what have I told you about irritating my father?"
Christian
"Actually, not much," Christian raised his eyebrows, then looked up at Isaac again.
The old man removed his hand and shook his head, splashing water all over the room.
"I will return in a moment," he nodded to Kaleb, then left the room to get changed.
Varian
"Probably not a good idea," Blakesley said.
One armoured eyelid slid open, revealing a hint of purple then slid closed again.
Blakesley didn't notice as Varian continued to play possum. He placed the hybrid on a bench, tail dragging carelessly over an edge as he went to fetch the carrier cage Astrid had brought the hybrid in.
Varian waited until khe was sure Blakesley had left, then shifted into human for a shape with opposable thumbs. She started to rummage through the cupboards, nostrils flaring at the scent of old blood and pain, licking suddenly dry lips.
Christian
Christian watched Varian, keeping his eye on the door as well.
"Hey," Christian tried to get it's attention.
"Reckon you could shut the door and get this thing off my throat?"
Varian
Varian whirled suddenly, eyes wide and startled. She bared her teeth at Christian, then slipped along silently to close the door.
"I can do more then that. Like you're gonna get far with that leg," she noted coolly.
She leant up on tiptoe and grinned at Christian, putting her hands on his feet.
"This is probably gonna hurt. A lot."
She closed her eyes and channeled power up through her feet from the earth and down from the air through her hands. A crackle of electricty played over her skin, and then the magic flowed, beginning to heal Christian from the feet up.
Christian
Christian flinched at first, eyes scanning the roof, then tried to stop himself crying out at the pain that seemed to shoot through him.
He clenched his fists, ignoring the shaking, and closed his eyes.
Varian
Varian concentrated, purple eyes glowing eerily. They seemed to stand out of her face, fine blonde hair lifting as crackles of static electricty played over her.
"Medica," she whispered, seeking to focus the power with a word. (Healing.)
It seemed to work.
Christian
"Oh man..." Christian half grunted, half moaned.
He twisted in his restraints, squeezing his eyes open slightly every now and then. He kept his head turned to the door so he'd know if anyone was coming.
Varian
Varian started to sway slightly, face whitening as she sought to heal the gaping wounds on Christian's hip and leg.
She drew more power from the air, almost sucking the life out of it outside the room.
Blakesley suddenly found it hard to breathe.
Christian
"F#!+!" Christian yelled, trying in vain to keep it in.
His right hand opened, and clasped onto the edge of the table.
Blakesley's father also found it slightly hard to breathe all of a sudden, and slowed his breathing to adjust.
Varian
Varian watched the skin start to heal over, replacing muscle tissue that had been excised. The corner of her mouth twitched, then she slid into a stronger form with barely a sigh.
Khe's T'ien Lung form was far more suited to this type of work.
Lightning cracked over the house, a thunderstorm forming despite the prevailing weather conditions in the region.
Blakesley cursed and gasped in a breath as he started back down to where he had left Varian.
Christian
Christian panted for breath, not even registering Varian's change. He closed his eyes, then thought better and opened them again. Sweat was beading on his forehead, and following the eatlier trails of water down his face.
Isaac heard Blakesley going back to the room, and continued to get dressed.
Varian
Varian watched the wounds close and heal, the change racing up Christian's body. As the bruises and cuts on his face healed and disappeared, khe swayed, then fell off the table with an audible thump. Cat-like, khe managed to land on kher's feet.
Blakesley started fussing with the locks, breathing shallowly.
Christian
Christian gulped as his body started to relax, then closed his eyes, still shaking.
"Ouch."
He took a few deep breaths, calming himself down.
Varian
Varian moaned softly.
Ouch, he says.
Christian
Isaac finished getting dressed, then stepped out into the hallway.
"Varian?" he raised his eyebrows at his son.
Christian looked towards the door tiredly as he heard it being unbolted.
Varian
"One would suppose so," Blakesley said.
He unlocked the door and the air inside the room rushed out into the house.
Varian lifted kherself and slid under the table, attaching itself to the undeneath, out of sight.
Christian
Isaac adjusted the collar of his shirt, before following Kaleb.
Christian was still panting slightly, not bothering to wonder where Varian had gone. He opened his eyes again, knowing Blakesley wa son his way in.
Varian
Varian clung to the metal of the table grimly, feeling weak and shaky after the extensive magick casting. So, it could perform non- harmful magick. That was good to know.
They would learn that it would have been better to muzzle khe completely or to leave khe alone.
Blakesley blinked slightly as he saw Christian.
"So that's what it was doing..."
He stepped further into the room to let his father enter.
Christian
Christian kept his eyes on Blakesley and his father as they came in.
Isaac hesitated for a moment, his expression blank, then slowly moved toward Christian. Stopping at the table, he ran his hand softly down Christian's arm.
"Quite remarkable," he said finally, "it seems we could make a small habit out of this."
Blakesley
"I didn't know it could do this," Blakesley said finally.
"How fascinating. I wonder...how much it can heal."
Christian
Christian's face twisted.
"Oh hell no."
Isaac smiled slightly, not quite enough to chuckle.
Varian
"Now to actually find Varian..." Blakesley mused.
"It would be too much to ask whether you saw it disappear into a cuboard or such like, one would suppose."
He started looking through the various hidey holes the room could offer to the hybrid.
Varian continued to cling to the underside of the table, barely breathing.
Christian
Christian clenched his fists and struggled to sit up slightly, watching them look around the room. His eyes hardly left Blakesley as he gave silent tugs on his wrist restraints. They were preety weak, as he hadn't needed much to keep him down a moment before.
Varian
Blakesley looked up at the ceiling and scanned it. No Varian. He scratched his head, turning slowly before his eyes flickered to the table. He walked over to it, knelt on one knee and started patting on the underside.
Varian immediately grew spines.
Blakesly yelped and cursed as his palm hit a spine.
A bolt of blinding pain cascaded through Varian's head and khe screamed and dropped to the floor, hitting the concrete hard. Khe's wings furled and unfurled, snapping as khe rode out the lingering agony of the spell, convulsing slightly.
Blakesley nursed his injured hand, glaring at Varian venomously.
The hybrid uttered a high, wavering cry of hurt, too dazed and sick to keep control over what noises khe might make.
Christian
Christian felt the strap on his right wrist loosening.
Isaac chuckled at Varian.
"It seems that desperate to hurt you," he tutted slightly.
"Kaleb, Kaleb, Kaleb..."
Varian
Varian's claws scrabbled on the floor and khe projected a wave of absolute unmitigated hatred.
I HATE YOU!
"And that would be the reason why," Blakesley said.
Varian crouched, shaking slightly and tail lashing.
Christian
Isaac rolled his eyes.
Christian kept his eyes on both of them, knowing that he had to mostly free his left wrist before he'd wrench free his right. Otherwise he had to spend time freeing his left, and then he'd be in as much trouble as any other time.
He continued to pull against it, hiding his smile as he felt it loosen.
Varian
"Temper, temper, Varian," Blakesley said.
Varian glared at him and all the cupboards flew open, all the objects inside hitting the floor with a crash. All the vials of chemicals and drugs shattered.
How's *that* for temper, motherf*cker?
Christian
Isaac tutted, then went to wash his hands in the sink.
Christian's left wrist came free, unnoticed, as Blakesley had his eyes on Varian for the moment. His smile showing in his eyes only, Christian pulled the other wrist free, then pulled the straps over them to hide his freedom.
Varian
"Impudence will get you nowhere," Blakesley said.
"Perhaps not being fed will help you keep that temper."
Varian ostentatiously curled up on the floor, back to the scientist. Blakesley gritted his teeth and went to clean up what Varian had broken.
Christian
Christian began to work his ankles free as Isaac left the room. Being in almost full health, he was also thinking a lot clearer.
He watched Varian, but kept his eyes on Blakesley when they finally came free, he looked towards the door. He'd be able to bolt, but he'd have to watch for Isaac on the other side. Failing finding the keys to the front door, he could try and break the locks or even break it down.
Varian
Varian shifted back into a human form and wandered over to the bench.
"Hmmhmmhmmmhmm."
She clambered up onto it and sat, kicking her legs slightly.
"So...do you train to be so stupid?" She asked Blakesley.
He ignored her.
Christian
Christian rolled his eyes. Whatever Varian had learnt, it wasn't much on insults.
He studied Blakesley's figure, waiting for the right moment. It came when he was bending over in an awkward position, and Christian bolted for the door.
He had the bolts opened in no time, and was through the door and bolting it shut on the other side.
Pausing to pant silently, his ears began working overtime to locate Isaac.
Varian
"God damn it!" Blakesley cursed and went over to try and get out of the door.
Varian just giggled.
Christian
Christian ran his hands down the door, and looked down the hallway. He could hear something from the kitchen, but he wasn't sure if it was actually Isaac or some household appliance.
He cautiously made his way down the hallway, pausing at every doorway up until the livingroom. He spotted the keys on the table where they had previously been, and verified through sound that it was actually Isaac in the kitchen bustling around.
Varian
Varian hummed, kicking her legs.
Blakesley swore as the keys refused to turn. He started to pound on the door with his hands, hoping his father would hear and understand what was going on.
Christian
Christian heard the very small thuds, and knew what Blakesley was doing. He hoped that if Isaac managed to even slightly hear them, he'd guess Varian was playing up or something. Either he did or he paid it no mind, because the older man hardly moved.
Christian made his way into the livingroom, and quietly stole the keys. Then he made for the front door and silently began to unlock the padlocks on the bolts and the actual door locks - keeping an ear out for Isaac's movements.
Varian
"Damn, damn, damn," Blakesley cursed in English before progressing to Ancient Greek.
Varian just watched, smiling.
Blakesley picked up the chair in the room and slammed it against the door.
Christian
Christian jumped a little at the louder thud, and quickened in his pace. He got the locks open, then dropped the keys.
Isaac's head darted up as he heard the door flying open. Stepping into the livingroom, he was just in time to see a head of blonde hair disappearing outside.
Frowning slightly, he made his way back to the room and unbolted it.
Christian meanwhile, had taken off down the street.
Varian
"He's gone," Varian reported with great satsifaction.
"Nyah nyah ni nyah nyah..."
Blakesley punched the door with his fist, then opened it.
"Christian's gone."
"Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch him, he's a fleeing man," Varian said, then ducked as Blakesley hurled the chair at her.
"Eep!"
Blakesley strode out of the room and went to fetch his cell. He had people he could call. To fetch Christian back.
