26 December 2003 - Taking a soul

Joy and Tegan

Jessica

Emily stretched her wings, she had not flown in a very long time. God had business for her tonight. Those filthy vampires were coming back, looking for more aliens to turn. She wandered through the cemetary. She saw the young man's body lying against a headstone. She growled at Scott and Leo, and their flunkies, concecrating the ground they stood on, until they hissed and turned away from the Angel of Death. She knealt over the teenager, shaking him lightly.

"Come, Adam, it's time to go home." Adam Richardson stood up, and glanced down at his body.

"Will you look over Jessi for me?"

"Yes, I promise. It's tme to go home, now." Adam took Emily's hand as she led him off into Paradise.

----

Emily appeared on the Hanson's front step, and rang the bell. Jess answered the door.

"Emily, what are you doing here?" Jess asked, confused.

"Jessica," Emily said, taking Jess's hands in her own. "It's Adam. He was killed tonight, honey."

"No. . . no," Jess said, backing up. "NO!" She ran into the house and buried her face in a sofa cushion, crying.

Loki

"Well, that was tactful, Emily," Loki said, as he dropped from the sky next to her.

He mantled his wings, leaving him in the appearance of a normal human.

Emily

"What was I supposed to say, Loki? How do you tell somebody that you just saw their true love eaten by vampires, and turned? I took his soul to Paradise, but his body will come back to haunt her." Emily sighed. "Do you suppose we should go inside, and try to calm her down?"

Loki

Loki snorted.

"F*ck, no. You can if you want. I've got charges to get back to."

He rubbed his hand through his hair.

"Stupid f*cking stoners. I swear, I am so close to killing them..."

Emily

Emily smiled. "Oh, come on, it's the Hanson's house. You know you wanna mess with their minds, I know you far too well. You want to screw with those pretty little heads. Besides, it'll give you a break from those crazy druggies, and it'll give Jay a chance to jump Bob. He so obviously wants him."

Loki

"Ya think?" Loki asked Emily.

"The UST is getting on my f*cking nerves. Sex. Why are mortals so hung up by it?"

Emily

"I have no freaking clue," Emily said. "I find it quite amusing though. Have you ever looked at some of the faces they make when the lights are all out? Um, maybe we should follow her," Emily gestured to where Jessi was having a panic attack in the living room, and followed her.

"And some of the tings these mortal do for pleasure! It's insane!"

Loki

Loki snickered and followed the other angel.

"F*ck yeah. It's f*cking hilarious. The whole f*cking thing."

He cracked his knuckles slightly.

Jessica

Emily sat down on the sofa and wrapped her arms around Jess. Jess shifted and laid her head on Emily's chest.

"Don't worry, Darlin'. I took him to Paradise tonight. He is happy and at peace." Jess sniffled, and smiled a little. Emily looked up at Loki.

"You know what I never understood? Why people would hurt other people for pleasure. Like what happened to this one. It's not right."

Loki

Loki looked bored.

"Humans, aliens...whatever. All mortals looooove to watch other mortals hurt. I just do some of the killing, why bother being philosophical about it? The PTB'll sort them out once they're dead."

Emily

Emily shuddered. "I am so glad I got the soul-ushering job, and not the flaming sword. Yech, don't think I could actually do the killing."

Loki

Loki chuckled darkly.

"You were always a bit of a purist, Emily."

He yawned slightly.

"Anyway, I better be going. Most of the more powerful mutants are on the camp with the kids. I don't fell like going back to Hell anytime soon cos Jay forgot to put out his reefer and the mansion burned down. Or something similiarly stupid."

Emily

Emily smiled. "Adam, the boy I just took? Wasn't he the one who put that wonderfully horrific look on Jay's face yesterday?"

Loki

"That was a look to remember," Loki said fondly.

"If for nothing else, I liked him. He shut Jay up. For about five minutes."

Jessica and Emily

Jess smiled atthe story. "That's my Adam. He was the best guy. Crap. Lacy. Now that he's gone, somebody has to protect her from their parents," Jessi said through tears. She looked up at the Angels.

"Will you look after her?" Emily closed her eyes and meditated for a moment.

"Yes. I will check in on her, and see if I can help her." she looked at Loki.

"Wanna come with? Abusive parents, I might need some help, ahem, subduing them."

Loki

"Can I kill them?" Loki asked, fingering the hilt of his sword.

"I'm just dying for some violence."

Emily

"We'll see," Emily said. smiling. It was so funny to see this little kid directing a guy who looks like Matt Damon.

"Let's go." Emily led the way, and Jess went into the room where the Christmas Tree was, just sitting, and thinking, and watching the lights shine.

Loki

"Who's house? Ron's house, I said who's house? Ron's house!"

Loki was finally going to get some bloody action. Bloody it would be. He grinned.

Emily and Jessica

Emily rolled her eyes. If he was human, Loki would be such a sadist. But God had given him permission to punish the guilty, so, whatever.

"Wanna fly? It's only a few streets away, and it'll give people a Christmas thrill if they spot us."

~~~
Jess dried her tears and decided she needed to be with somebody she cared about, she was really hurting. Zac wuld have been her first choice, but he was probably with Faith. She went up and knocked on Isaac's door.
"Ike?" she asked tentatively.
Isaac
"Come in," Isaac called.
He had been sitting on his bed, typing away on his notebook computer.
Loki
"F*cking stupid mortals," Loki said derisively, but he spread his wings and jumped into the sky.
"Coming, Em?"
Jessica
Jess came in, wiping away her tears, her face all red and puffy.
"Hi," she said in a small voice.
Isaac
Isaac looked at her, closed the laptop and put it to the side.
"Jess? What's wrong?"
Emily
Emily spread her wings as well, and they flew a few miles, to Adam's house.
Jessica
"It's. . it's Adam," she said, in between hiccups. "Emily. .. the Angel of Death, came. She said Adam was killed tonight!" Jess practically collapsed in sobs again.
Isaac
"Oh Jessi," Isaac said sympathetically.
He put his arms around his little sister.
"You cry," he encouraged. "You have a good long cry."
Loki
Loki sprialled down from the sky, landing lightly at the front door.
He knocked.
"Knock, knock. Guess who's come visting?"
Jessica
Jessi collapsed in Ike's arms and just cried. She cried and cried so hard she didn't think she'd ever be able to stop.
Isaac
"It's okay, it's okay," Isaac said softly.
He rubbed her back gently.
Emily
Emily followed him down, and saw Adam's mom open the door. She had a drink in her hand, and a black eye.
"Whaddya want?" she slurred.
"We've come to tell you that your son was murdered tonight."
"Good riddance. He was a slob anyways. That pansy freak with his boyfriends and that slut girlfriend, and those orange eyes. I hope it was messy." Emilly snuck by, and went for Lacy, leaving Margaret and Tony to Loki.
Loki
"So nasty," Loki tsked.
"Hmm...so many, many sins. Hard to know where to start."
He grinned unpleasently.
"Adultery for one."
Emily
Meg looked at him confused.
"Who are you?" Tony stumbled to the doorway.
"Who are you? Another one of my whoring wife's boy-toys?" Meg slapped him, and he threw her against the wall.
~~
Emily found the little girl, hiding in the closet. She was bruised and dirty, and shivering because the heat had been shut off. Granted, it wasn't very cold in Tulsa, but she was still a little girl.
"Are you Lacy?" The little girl nodded. Emily picked her up and went outside.
"Loki, I'm taking her back to the mansion. She'll be safe there for now. You, go about your business."
Loki
"They're not worth any artistry," Loki said.
He sheathed the sword, and took out a small handgun. The adults blanched.
"This one's for your son."
And he calmly shot Tony. Meg screamed and ran. Back into the house.
"Don't run! Don't run!" Loki catcalled.
He shot at her as he stalked after her, missing on purpose, laughing like a hyena.
