25 December 2003 - Christmas at the Hyperion

Tegan, Nessa and Joy

Serafina

Serafina woke up and blinked her eyes a couple of times. Hmm. Something was special about today...

CHRISTMAS!

She got up and 'stealthed' her way to her father's room. He was asleep. Not for long.

She 'stealthed' over, and then jumped on the bed.

"Wake up! It's Christmas! Merry Christmas, Da!"

Angel

"Oof!"

Angel woke up with a start.

"Serafina?!"

Fred

Fred woke up and stretched. She loved Christmas, so fresh, so pure, except for thw whole thing about Santa being a demon. She bounced down to the kitchen, and made the coffee for everyone who wasn't as normally perky as she was. She started singing "Deck the Halls" to herself.

Serafina

"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" Serafina chanted, before getting off the bed and running out, squealing.

"CHRISTMAS! YAY! WAKE UP!"

Angel

Angel shook his head slightly and sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"Ok, ok, I'm up."

Wesley

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Serafina ran around the hotel shrieking.

Wesley stumbled out of his bedroom and she glomped him.

"CHRISTMAS! YAY!"

"Someone shut her up!" An irritated yell came from Connor's room, followed by doorslamming.

Serafina poked her tongue out in the direction of Connor's room.

"BOOGERHEAD!"

Angel

Cordelia poured Angel a mug of blood and herself a mug of coffee, but in her tired state, she started to drink from the blood.

"BLEUGH!" she cried, spitting it out.

Angel closed his eyes as he copped most of the attack, then calmly reached for a towel and wiped his face off.

Cordelia hastily handed him the blood.

"Merry Christmas," she said sheepishly.

"You too, Cordy."

Wesley

Wesley picked Serafina up and walked down to the kitchen, hair mussed up. Serafina kept giggling.

"Did someone give her sugar?"

"Not me," Cordelia said.

"Angel?"

Angel

Angel shook his head.

"No, but I think it's that Christmas disease."

Wesley

"Christmas! Yay!"

Wesley held Serafina as she kept giggling.

"You know, she's not stopping to breathe," he observed.

"If she turns blue, then we have a problem," Cordelia said.

"Until then, don't worry about it."

"Ah."

Wesley nodded and gave Serafina to Cordelia.

"Aunty Cordy!"

Serafina latched on.

"Hold her while I make breakfast. For those of us who eat it."

Angel

"Anyone else get pounced on?" Angel asked.

"Me," Cordy replied, holding the squirming Serafina.

Wesley

"Pounce, pounce! Mrrrroowwwrrrrr!"

Wesley shook his head slightly as he started to make pancakes. Serafina squirmed on Cordelia's lap.

"I want to help. Can I help, please?"

Wesley smiled at her.

"Of course, Serafina."

She squealed happily and padded over to help Wesley cook.

Angel

Angel smiled faintly and took a sip of his blood.

"So... after this, we'll do the present thing?"

Serafina

Cordelia winced.

"Stupid man. Vampire."

"PRESENTS! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Angel

"Sera, shh, quiet time."

Angel's tone was quiet but purposeful.

Wesley

Serafina turned a face on him that said he'd kicked her metaphorical puppy.

Wesley took the batter she had been mixing and mixed it properly, before starting to cook the pancakes.

The little girl's eyes got even bigger and more tragic as she stared at Angel.

Angel

Angel gestured for Searfina to come over to him.

"Serafina..."

Serafina

Serafina pouted harder, then turned and buried her face i Wesley's leg.

Cordelia snickered softly.

Angel

"Alright, you can talk, but..."

Angel sipped his blood.

"Turn the volume down."

Connor padded into the kitchen, looking generally unhappy as usual.

"God, doesn't she ever shut up?"

"Connor..."

Connor fell silent.

Wesley

"Meanie boogerhead!" Came from Wesley's pant leg, slightly muffled.

Cordelia choked on her coffee.

"Where did she learn that?"

"At a guess, I would say her brother," Wesley said.

He put a heaped plate of pancakes down on the table, moving with slight difficulty as Serafina was still attached to his leg.

Fred

"Christmas, Christmas Christmas!" Fred cried, bouncing. "Merry Christmas!" She giggled along with Serafina.

"It's Christmas!"

Angel

Connor slammed his fist down on the table.

"Connor!" Angel admonished.

He shrank back.

Wesley

"Nyah nyah nyah," Serafina said to Connor.

He glared at her and she 'eeped' then hid behind Wesley.

"Mean! Save me, Unka Wes!"

"Don't be nasty to your brother," Wesley said as he set out plates and pancake things, like maple syrup.

He got one of the pancakes and started to cut it into pieces for Serafina.

"Sit at the table and be good. Or you won't get any pancakes."

Serafina looked at Connor, then at Wesley, obviously debating whether making fun of Connor was worth not getting pancakes. Then she scrambled up into her seat. She could always make fun of Connor, *later*.

ANgel

"Since I don't eat, I'm going to have a shower," Angel said, standing up.

"Great," Connor mumbled.

Angel shook his head, deciding not to make an issue out of it, and left the kitchen.

Wesley

"These are fantastic, Wes," Cordelia said, starting to eat another one.

Wesley looked faintly pleased as he started his own breakfast.

"Thank you, Cordelia."

"Yumyumyum!" Serafina said.

Fred

"No!" Fred said. "It's Christmas! Presents first!" She bounced along, making a taco for breakfast.

Serafina

Serafina stared at Fred, then turned back to her pancakes.

"Daddy said after breakfast," she informed the woman.

Cordelia stifled a giggle.

Connor toyed with his pancakes slightly, staring at them.

"Heath might be coming round later," he said quietly.

"That's the Aussie, yeah?" Cordelia said brightly.

"Yeah."

"He's nice," Serafina said thoughtfully.

"He gave me a little black kitty. It has gold eyes, and when you press his tummy, he goes 'grrrr'..."

Angel

Angel came back into the kitchen, looking more awake and clean. He kissed the top of Serafina's head.

"We all done?"

Wesley

"I think so," Wesley said, taking everyone's plates and starting to wash up.

"I'll dry," Cordelia said, standing up.

"Thank you, Cordelia."

Angel

Angel lifted Serafina from her seat and spun her around, while talking to Cordelia and Wesley.

"So, how are we planning to celebrate?"

Wesley

Serafina kicked her legs and giggled. Connor just rolled his eyes.

"We can exchange gifts," Wesley said, handing another plate to Cordeila to dry.

"We can order out, have dinner," Cordelia said.

"Actually dress up for once. Presupposing no visions or desperate clients."

Angel

"Sounds good," Angel murmured, spinning Serafina around again.

"Well, shall we, then?"

Wesley

Serafina giggled harder.

"Yes," Wesley said.

Cordelia finished drying and the breakfast things were quickly put away.

"Where should we?"

Angel

"Lobby," Angel suggested. "It's the biggest."

He hoisted Serafina up on his shoulders and ducked under the doorway as he headed up to the lobby.

Wesley

Connor slouched after his father, hands in his pockets. Wesley and Cordelia looked at each other, shrugged, then followed.

Serafina babbled happily about things that were important to her, hands on Angel's head.

ANgel

Angel set Serafina down on the couch in the lobby and went into his office to fetch the presents.

He then went and locked the door to the Hotel.

Wesley

Cordelia sat on the couch with Serafina and the little girl crawled into her lap. Wesley leaned on the back of the couch.

"Since this is more or less for Sera anyway, do ou wan to start, 'Dad'?" Cordelia said.

Angel

Angel nodded and handed Serafina a present, a white box with a pink ribbon tied around it.

"And don't call me 'Dad', Cordy."

Serafina

Cordelia laughed.

"But you make such a good one."

Connor made a noise of disagreement.

"Pipe down, Connor Angel. You're an exception," Cordelia snapped.

"Glad to see I'm so well thought of," Connor said.

"If you're going to be like this, please just leave."

Serafina was ripping gleefully through the wrapping paper and immediately started to coo over the doll inside the present.

"Thank you, Daddy."

Angel

Angel smiled slightly.

"It's alright, Sera."

Connor grumbled to himself.

Serafina

Serafina beamed at him.

"She's pretty."

Angel

Angel smiled and handed Cordelia a tiny red box.

"Merry Christmas, Cordy," he smiled.

She wiggled her eyebrows and opened the box to see the silver charm bracelet she'd been wanting for a month now.

"Thank you!" she squealed.

Wesley

Serafina was walking her doll around, talking for it when Wesley handed her another box.

She ripped off the wrapping paper and giggled.

"Yes, cos she needs a bed!"

"Quite," Wesley said.

"This is for you, Cordelia."

Cordelia opened it to see matching earrings to the bracelet.

"Thanks, Wes," she said happily.

Angel

Angel smiled and handed Wesley a longish sort of box. He'd find a new watch, a replacement for his current one, which had seen better days, due to the amount of fighting Wesley did.

Wesley

"Thank you, Angel. I have been intending to invest in a new watch," Wesley said, before putting the box down and strapping the new watch around his wrist.

"This one's for you, Connor," Cordelia said.

Connor took the box with a nod and unwrapped it. He smiled slightly at the matched daggers in it.

"I'll have to say thanks to Gunn."

Angel

Soon presents were over and they were all lazily staring at the mess of rubbish from the wrapping paper.

Angel lifted Serafina into his lap.

"So, what now?"

Serafina

"Mmm...don't know," Cordelia said.

"We could turn on the tv and watch carols."

Serafina shifted into cat form and started to gleefully pounce on bits of paper and string.

Angel

"Sounds good," Angel said.

"My room is the biggest and has the good TV, shall we go there?"

Wesley

"Cool!" Cordelia said, scooping Serafina up.

The kitten spat, then purred as Wesley picked up her new doll. She'd be happy with that.

"Does anyone know if Gunn and Lorne are coming in?"

Angel

"Yes and another yes," Gunn said, walking in with Lorne by his side.

"We had to check out some distressed call this morning, but it turned out to be some guy, dressed in a Santa suit, stuck in his chimney."

Gunn shook his head.

"Don't ask."

Angel nodded.

"Well, actually, now that you're here, you can get your presents."

Serafina

Serafina's ears twitched.

"Not for you this time, didn't you get enough?" Cordelia said as Wesley picked up the remaining prsents for Gunn and Lorne.

"Even I, with my limited knowledge of young children, know there can never be enough presents," he said dryly.

He handed a box to Gunn who opened it and grinned.

"Thanks, English. I needed a new CD player for the truck. After Prom Queen there put a dagger through it."

"There was a demon!" Cordelia said.

Angel

Lorne opened his present to find a few new silk shirts.

"Awww, sweetie bumpkins, thank you all."

Angel gestured for the stairs.

"Shall we?"

Wesley and Heath

"We're watching carols in Angel's room," Cordelia informed the newcomers.

"Cool."

Gunn nodded slightly.

"Hey all, Merry Christmas. Connor, coming?" Heath said, sticking his head around the door.

"Hello, Heath," Wesley said cautiously.

Connor grabbed his weapons bag from behind the couch.

"Yeah."

Angel

"Be careful," Angel said to his son.

"Ok, so carols?" Gunn pressed.

Heath

Connor raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Remember, I grew up in Qur'toth."

"And I grew up on a Hellmouth," Heath said.

"We'll be fine."

The two teens disappeared out the door.

"Stole some of my Dad's beer," Heath said to Connor as they walked away.

"Screw this not drinking till you're 21 shite."

"Carols it is," Cordelia said and the group started up stairs, chatting amiably.

Angel

Angel opened the door to his room and flicked on the lights.

Gunn went in and sat on one of the couches, scratching his head slightly.

Serafina

Serafina crawled onto the bed, turning round and round until she settled. Cordelia sat down next to Gunn, while Wesley claimed one of the other couches.

"Clicker, clicker, who's got the clicker?" Cordelia said.

Angel

Lorne held it up as he sat on an armchair and tossed it to Cordelia.

Angel lay on his bed and petted Serafina.

Wesley

Serafina arche up into the stroking and buzzed happily.

"I really do wonder how she's going to age," Wesley said.

"Let's not worry about that, and watch commercialised Christmassy stuff instead," Cordelia said.

She clicked on the tv and flipped through the channels until she found a carol service. A choir hymn floated out of the speakers.

"Gloriana in excelsius!"

Angel

"We could always watch a cheesy Christmas movie," Angel commented, scratching under Serafina's chin.

Gunn and Cordelia

"Yeah, Rudolph or some...thing like that," Gunn amended before he swore.

"They have stuff like that on for the kids."

Cordelia nodded and flicked through again before settling on a cartoon.

Angel

"Hey look, it's Frosty," Gunn commented.

"How cute, you know the cartoon," Cordelia said, grinning.

"It's not cute, it's very manly," Gunn said.

"Mmm, sure," Angel chimed in.

Serafina

Serafina's eyes were riveted to the screen.

"Look, at least she's enjoying it," Gunn said.

Angel

"Yeah," Angel replied, nodding.

He settled himself back down against his pillows.

Wesley

Serafina's tail twitched from side to side as the lull in conversation continued and Frosty cheerfully kept spreading Christmas happiness.

"Amazing how numbing American programming is," Wesley commented.

"Hey!" Gunn protested.

"Well, see what it did to you, and you'll see he had a point," Cordelia said.

Gunn

"You're one to talk," Gunn replied.

Soon Frosty finished and a new cartoon started. With much of the same Christmas happiness message/propaganda.

Wesley

"See, Gunn, the mouth opens and words come out. In my case, intelligent conversation. You're another matter entirely," Cordelia retorted.

Wesley shook his head slightly at their child-like bickering.

Angel

"Guys, cool it," Angel said. "It's Christmas."

Gunn shrugged and settled into his seat.

Cordelia

Cordelia gave Angel an innocent look.

"What?"

She poked Gunn in the side with her finger.

Angel

Gunn poked her back.

Angel rolled his eyes and tickled Serafina under her chin again.

Serafina

Serafina purred in contentment.

Cordelia made a squeak noise, then poked Gunn again.

Angel

Angel looked at his watch.

"Cordelia, you want to go order some food?"

Cordelia

"Sure," Cordelia said, poking Gunn in the ribs again.

"What do we want?"

Gunn

Gunn poked her in the side. "Anything."

"Yeah, well it's not going to affect me so much. Sera, what would you like?"

Serafina

"Food!" Serafina said.

"What type, sweetie?" Cordelia said, poking Gunn again.

Serafina wrinkled her nose thoughtfully.

"Good food?"

Angel

Gunn poked Cordelia back.

"Chinese? Thai?" Angel suggested to her.

Serafina

"Chicken!" Serafina said.

"Which one?"

Cordelia poked Gunn again.

"The one...the one with honey. Yum."

Serafina nodded.

"Chinese it is then."

Angel

Gunn poked Cordelia back again.

"Ok, so Chinese," Angel nodded.

"Ohh get combination fried noodles," Gunn put in.

Wesley

"Fried rice, sweet and sour pork, chicken with cashews," Cordelia said.

"Szechaun chicken," Wesley said.

"Ok...Lorne, anything you want?"

Angel

"Oh some spring rolls and dim sims," Lorne said, nodding.

"Yum," Gunn said.

Angel flicked the channel as the movie ended and sighed.

"Nothing on... should we hire something?"

Wesley

"Chick flick, kid flick, gag flick or action?" Cordelia said.

"Something for Serafina, before she goes to bed," Wesley said.

"Something Christmas-like."

"The Grinch. Anything you guys want to see?"

Angel

"Dracula 2000, so I can laugh at it," Angel said.

"No, Dracula Dead And Loving It. That movie's hilarious," Gunn replied.

Cordelia

"You know what vampire movie reminds me of you, Angel?" Cordelia said as she stood and went to stand by the door.

"Interview with a Vampire. Whine, whine, I'm an evil bloodsucking fiend. Oh pity, God forgive me, for I am a creature of the night. You remind me of Louis!"

And she ran down the stairs.

Angel

"Does she realise she's pushing her luck? Soul or no soul, I'm close to biting her."

Angel sighed.

Wesley

"Chomp chomp!" Serafina said helpfully, then frowned at him.

"Don't eat Aunty Cordy. If I can't kill Connor, you can;t kill Aunty Cordy."

"Do, then we'll be rid of two problems," Wesley murmured.

Angel

Angel chuckled slightly.

"If only it were that easy."

Serafina

"Watch me!" Serafina insisted.

"He hasta sleep *sometime*..."

"No, killing bad," Gunn said.

"Seriously man, you start flashing fangs around nondiscrim, I'm carrying more crosses."

Angel

"Ok, no killing," Angel agreed. "We'll just... endure it painfully."

Wesley

"Keep a stiff upper lip," Wesley said.

Gunn reached over and hit him on the shoulder.

"You're really freaky when you come out with an Englishism like that."

"And your method of speech is any better?"

Wesley smiled slightly.

Angel

"Least mine is none too gross when it ain't intended to be, man," Gunn replied. "Stiff upper lip? Wrong."

Angel smiled in amusement.

Wesley

Wesley blinked slightly.

"I say, that just isn't cricket..."

Angel

"More like water polo," Gunn replied.

"Have you been talking to Faith?" Angel asked.

"Yeah."

Wesley

"A very bad influence," Wesley said.

"Hey, Faith's cool," Gunn said.

"Hence the bad iinfluence comment."

Cordelia bounced back in.

"Food's ordered, videos on their way."

Angel

"Well Faith learnt from Angel, is he a bad influence?" Gunn asked.

"Hey, she stayed here, and trained, and I felped her find her path, she is still her own person, I had nothing to do with what she says," Angel protested.

Wesley

"Quite," Wesley said dryly.

Almost unconsciously, his hand went to his head then he put it down again. When he thought of Faith, he usually remembered how he'd failed her. And how she'd repaid that failure.

"But you know, Angel, Spike is your fault," Cordelia said.

"Maybe you just make people more offensive."

Angel

Angel regarded Wesley thoughtfully, and moved away from the Faith subject.

"Spike isn't completely my fault. He's more Dru's fault. Now, she is my fault, I'll admit. Penn too... and..." he trailed off thoughtfully, thinking of his other childer.

Wesley

"The Watcher's Diaries are remarkably sketchy on the subject of your Childer," Wesley said thoughtfully.

"There were a few who simply...disappeared."

"Darla is where my money is," Cordelia said.

"Jealousy, thy name is Darla. Female Childer?"

"For the most part."

"Darla."

Cordelia nodded vehmently.

Angel

Angel rubbed his jaw thoughtfully.

"She didn't like Drusilla, because I spent hours with her, and was most relieved when Spike came along."

He paused, reminiscing.

Wesley

"So, dish names, Watcher boy," Cordelia said.

Wesley looked slightly ruffled.

"It has been a very long time since I studied those texts."

"I'm sure a few names stuck."

"Hmm..."

Wesley thought.

"What was her name...Elizabeth? No, Elizabette...Elizabette Dashwood. She was a minor noble, if I remember correctly. Related to the Lord Dashwood who began the Hellfire Club in the late 1800's."

Angel

Angel almost smiled.

"Ah, Darla hated Elizabette most of all. I devoted many hours to her amusement... and then she left suddenly."

Cordelia

"Left?"

Cordelia raised an eyebrow skeptically.

"Or turned into dust?"

Angel

"No, I'd know if she was dusted..."

Angel looked pensive.

"Darla was different when Eliabette left."

Wesley

"Jealous," Cordelia said.

"So, what was she like?"

"She was very beautiful," Wesley said.

"There was a portriat in the Watcher's Headquarters...it would be ash now, unfortunately."

Angel

"She was," Angel agreed. "Strikingly so."

Gunn shifted him his seat.

"So... not crazy?" he asked.

"Oh no... terribly smart and dangerous."

Cordelia

"And not dust?" Cordelia said.

"Here's hoping she never comes here."

Angel

"I don't know, she may have been dusted over time... but even if not, she probably won't know where to find me," Angel said.

"Probably?" Gunn asked.

"Bond between sire and childer."

Cordelia

"Penn found you," Cordelia pointed out, then jumped up as the doorbell rang.

"Food!"

She went downstairs to pay for the Chinese.

Angel

Angel nodded.

"I wouldn't be too worried," he said.

Gunn didn't look convinced, but he relaxed slightly.

Wesley

Wesley got up to help Cordelia.

Serafina sprawled over Angel's bedspread.

"Would she be nasty like the scratchy lady?" she asked.

"Cos I didn't like my cousins, they were annoying. Orion cried all the time, like a baby."

Angel

"I expect you'd like Elizabette more than Dru," Angel said thoughtfully.

"But no soul," Gunn pointed out.

"Well yes, but... if you were evil, you'd like her."

Wesley

"So many people you could like, if you were evil first," Cordelia said.

"By that logic, you could like Kate," Wesley said.

Cordelia grimaced.

"Oh, not that Buffy wannabe."

Angel

"I wouldn't be too worried... I expect Elizabette would've been dusted," Angel mused.

Cordelia

"Speaking to your family this Christmas?" Cordelia said to Wesley.

The ex-Watcher grimaced.

"And be told that I'm a disgrace to my faimly, again? No, I think not."

Angel

"What about you, Cordy?" Angel asked.

Cordelia shrugged.

"Maybe."

Cordelia

"Anyway...we going to eat up here or are we going to go downstairs? Food'll be getting cold," Cordelia said.

Angel

"Go downstairs."

Angel stood up and headed for the door.

Cordelia

The group went down stairs and the food was served.

"Angel, eat something," Cordelia said.

"Or have some blood, at least."

Angel

Angel poured himself some blood and heated it in the microwave briefly.

"Yes, Cordy."

Wesley

"Yes, Mother," Wesley murmured.

Cordelia hit him on the arm.

"Don't call me that!"

"Of course, Cordelia. Just...observing."

Wesley smiled slightly.

Angel

Angel lifted the mug to his lips so Cordelia wouldn't see him smiling.

"Mmmm, that place down the road has the best Chinese," Gunn said, tactfully changing the subject.

Wesley

"Oh yeah," Cordelia said.

"Nice save, Gunn," Wesley said.

"You're being irritating, Wes," Cordelia said.

"Mmm."

Wesley tactfully ate food.

Angel

They soon finished their meal with a minimum of playful fighting.

"So, movies?" Angel suggested.

Wesley

"Yep." Cordelia nodded.

"Your room again?"

Wesley and Gunn started to clear away the empty plates.

Angel

"Yeah, sure."

Angel picked up Serafina and headed back up to his room, Cordelia at his heels.

Cordelia

Serafina put her arms around his neck and purred.

Cordelia giggled.

"Do you purr, Angel?"

Angel

"I'm not a cat, Cordy," Angel reminded her.

He set Serafina onto the bed and lay down.

"The Grinch?"

Wesley

"Well, Vort told me Spike purred..."

Cordelia watched Serafina resettle, still purring.

"I wondered if it was a vamp thing, or just a Spike oddity."

She put the video in the machine as Gunn and Wesley entered.

Angel

"Probably a Spike thing."

Angel yawned slightly.

Wesley and Heath

They watched the kid's movie through, then Wesley put a very tired Serafina to bed. He re-entered as the group settled to watch the Dracula movie Gunn had recomended.

Connor laughed and opened the door to the hotel.

"God, be quiet."

Heath grinned at him, both teens just a little bit drunk.

"You're the loud one here. Anyway, I'm for home, bed and hopefully no awkward questions bout where 'xactly Dad's alcohol went."

Angel

Angel sat up.

"Connor's home."

Heath

Connor picked up his bag of weapons and dumped it near the cabinet.

"You'll be alright to get home?"

"I grew up on a Hellmouth, yet still managed to drink steadily and hang out with a Slayer. I'll be fine. And when you're hung over tomorrow, I'll ring you. Early."

"Do, and I'll throw you to the next demon we fight."

"You wouldn't."

"Watch me."

"Don't you want Tracey's phone number?"

Heath held a piece of paper in two fingers and Connor grabbed for it.

"Give me that!"

"Make me."

Angel

"You gonna go see him?" Cordelia asked.

Angel shook his head.

"No."

"Ok."

Heath

"F*cking god!"

Connor grabbed the phone number and pushed a snickering Heath out the door.

"Merry Christmas, Connor."

"Yeah, yeah. Go away before I do kill you."

"See you in a coupla days."

Connor shut the door and locked it before heading up to his room, weaving slightly.

Angel

"He's stealthy," Cordelia said sarcastically as they heard Connor bash around.

Angel shrugged and sniffed the air.

"He's drunk."

"And you're not more worried?"

Angel's only response was to shrug. He got up and went out to see Connor.

Connor

Connor folded his arms, drunk enouh to take the edge off the caution he usually displayed around his father.

"Hey, *Dad*."

Angel

"Good night?"

Angel leaned against the door frame.

Connor

"Yeah."

Connor nodded slowly.

"I think it's what's termed 'normal'. No demons. No vamps. Just a real good time."

He walked over to his chest of drawers and put the phone number he'd rescued from Heath in a tray, before putting his keys on top of it.

Angel

"Well that's good."

Angel stood awkwardly for a moment, then turned to leave.

"Merry Christmas, son."

Connor

"Yeah."

Connor's stance relaxed slightly as he closed the door after his father.

"Merry Christmas to you too, Dad."

Gunn left to go to his bed, bidding Wesley and Cordelia goodbye. They chatted for a bit more, then went to bed themselves.
