19 December 2003 - Bronzing In New York

Nessa and Michelle

Faith

Faith waved to Paige as she orbed out, then bent to pick up Airlia, while glancing at Zac.

"Hmmm... this play gets bigger each time I see it, I swear."

She hitched Airlia higher up on her hip and smiled.

"Ok, let's go in."

Zac

Zac grinned and followed Faith into Xavier's, Saku in his arms. They soon arrived at the baby sitters.

"Hello," he said cheerfully.

"Fao!" Saku shouted.

He wriggled out of Zac's arms and pounced on his brother. Zac chuckled.

Faith

They dropped the kids off at the baby sitters, then were heading out again when Faith suddenly got pounced and tackled to the ground by Devon.

"Oof!"

"FAITH!"

"Get off!"

Zac

"Hey, I object," Zac said.

He put his hands on Devon's shoulders and pulled him off Faith.

"If anyone is gonna pounce on Faith, it'll be me."

Faith

Faith got to her feet and brushed her pants off.

"Devon..." she said carefully.

Devon hugged her tightly and lifted her off the ground.

"Down, boy."

Zac

"I think he's happy to see you," Zac said. "Of course... he better not get too happy..."

He grinned, wondering if he'd be able to work in the 'banana in your pocket' joke.

Faith and Oz

"Faith," Oz said quietly, appearing from around the corner.

"Oz," Faith replied, smiling and hugging the werewolf slightly.

"See, you hug him without problems," Devon whined, pouting.

"That's because he doesn't pounce on me."

"Awwwwwwwwwwww."

"Devvie, it's quiet time."

"Faitttttthhhhhhh!" Devon grinned and wrapped his arms around Faith's waist.

Zac

"You're so loved," Zac commented. "And I should know."

So... these were Oz and Devon.

Faith and Oz

"I know, it's wicked difficult being this hot," Faith grinned, then leaned over and kissed Zac gently.

"Where are you staying?" Oz asked.

"Here, I guess. I don't think Anya would appreciate my company."

"So you're here to come Bronzing?" Devon bounced.

"Yes, yes we are."

Faith moved out of Devon's arms and went to stand by Zac.

Zac

Zac put his arm around Faith waist.

"Well, then," he said. "Let's get going."

And the four made their way to the Bronze.

Faith

They got inside and Devon pulled Faith out onto the dance floor.

"Just one," he said to Zac, grinning.

Faith rolled her eyes and let herself be dragged out, dancing and joking around with Devon.

Zac

Zac sat on a stool and watched.

"So, Oz," he said. "What exactly is it that you do?"

Oz

"Drifters," Oz said. "We're in a band, and that's our excuse for not having jobs."

He sat down on a stool.

"What about you?"

Zac

"I'm in a band," Zac chuckled. "With my brothers. We just finished up a tour, umm... last month and we're going to start another one early next year. To correspond with the release of our next album."

Oz and Faith

"Cool," Oz said, nodding. "Doing better than us. We're nowhere near that stage yet."

Faith, meanwhile, had gathered a crowd of about four other guys, dancing around her.

Zac

Zac grinned.

"Well, if you're any good, I'm sure you will," he said, teasingly.

He kept an eye on Faith. Strangely, he was more comfortable with her dancing with a group of guys than just the one guy.

Oz and Faith

"We play our instruments like we have plump Polish sausages taped to our fingers," Oz replied dryly.

Devon grabbed Faith's hand and pulled her away to dance and talk to her.

Zac

Zac laughed.

"You'd probably cut the sausages on the guitar strings that way," he chuckled.

He wondered if Devon was going to be a problem.

Oz and Faith

Oz smiled.

"So you play... drums?"

Faith grinned and came back with Devon, over to Oz and Zac. She wrapped her arms around Zac's waist.

"Hello."

Zac

"Hi sexy," Zac replied.

He kissed her softly.

"Yeah, I'm the drummer. But I also play guitar, piano, harmonica... and most importantly, the shaker."

Oz, Faith and Anya

"Awwwwwww, he's so clever, isn't he?" Faith teased, kissing his cheek.

"She's cute when she's proud, isn't she?" Oz said, smiling slightly.

"She's always cute!" Devon said, bouncing. "Hey Anya, can I get a drink?"

"I suppose. We're doing an open mike night, so if anyone wants to sing... feel free," Anya said, walking away again.

"Cool... what about my drink! Anya!"

Zac

"I disagree. Faith isn't always cute. She's always beautiful," Zac nodded. "And amazing. And... well... this could go on all night."

He grinned broadly.

Oz and Faith

"I feel so loved." Faith grinned and nodded, then perched herself on Zac's lap.

"We singing, man?" Devon asked Oz.

"Yeah. Ok."

Oz and Devon went over to the stage, and Oz lifted the guitar and Devon started to sing.

"Feeling I've been lost for years
You can never understand me
Unless you've seen those tears
But you'll never get to sleep
When I'm awake..."

Zac

Zac rested his hands around Faith's waist and nuzzled her neck.

"Interesting friends you have."

Faith

"Oh they're not my friends," Faith joked, smiling, and turning to kiss him briefly.

"I've never seen them before."

Zac

Zac chuckled.

"Okay so they're just random guys?" he grinned, kissing her back.

Faith and Oz

"Yes. Completely random."

Faith grinned and leaned back against Zac.

Devon and Oz finished onstage and came bouncing over. Well, Devon bounced, Oz sort of just sauntered.

"So?" Devon asked.

"Um... very good?" Faith replied.

"Yay!"

Zac

"Yes, very good for guys who play instruments like they have fat Polish sausages tape to their fingers," Zac said cheekily.

Faith

"Man? We're not that bad," Devon said to Oz.

"I agree... I'd say the sausages were glued to your fingers, not taped... eeek!" Faith jumped off Zac's lap and ran as Devon chased her.

Zac

Zac watched and shook his head in amusement.

"I think I should be concerned..."

Faith and Oz

"Probably," Oz said. "If he catches her, he will make her pay for that statement."

As if on cue, Faith let out a loud squeal, which was followed by a crash and then a yell from Devon.

Zac

Zac grinned.

"And I think she just made him pay for making her pay," he chuckled.

Faith and Oz

Faith came running back, looking triumphant.

"I pushed a couch over in front of him."

"Were there people on it?" Oz asked.

"Oz, what kind of person do you think I am?"

"Faith..."

"Ok, well they weren't hurt."

Zac

Zac chuckled and stepped off the seat.

"Would you like a dance?" He asked Faith, taking her hand.

Faith

"Sure... wait, with you? Well..."

Faith grinned.

"I suppose."

Zac

"Well, that's the way to make a guy feel welcome," Zac replied.

He lead her onto the floor.

Faith

"Oh you're always welcome," Faith replied.

She put her arms around his neck.

Zac

Zac put his arms around her waist.

"That's nice to know," he murmered.

Faith

Faith smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Well I'm a nice person."

Zac

"Yeah... nice to be with. Nice to hold. Nice to... a few other things..." Zac joked.

He lowered one hand slightly so that it was resting on her behind.

Faith

"Awww, well flattery will get you everywhere."

Faith leaned over and kissed him softly.

Zac

Zac kissed her back.

"I'll keep that in mind," he said.

Faith

Faith smiled.

"Good."

She sighed in contentment.

Zac

Zac smiled, happy to be holding Faith in his arms.

"I love you."

Faith

"Of course you do."

Faith grinned.

"I love you more."

Zac

Zac chuckled and kissed her neck.

"Not arguing with you. Love you too much."

Faith

"Awwwwwwww!"

Faith kissed him gently.

"You're going to get very lucky tonight."

Zac

"Luckier than I am now to have the most wonderful woman in the world in my arms? Wow..." Zac grinned.

He rubbed her back gently.

Faith

Faith smiled and kissed him sweetly.

"You're a nut."

Zac

Zac smiled.

"I try," he said.

He sighed happily.

Oz and Faith

"May I cut in?" Oz asked politely.

Faith smiled and let go of Zac.

"I'll be back soon, love."

She danced off with Oz, both of them making stupid jokes.

Zac

Zac smiled to himself and began to wander off to the side.

"Hey, you're Zac Hanson, right?" said a nearby girl.

"Umm, yeah."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Wilma."

"Like the Flinstone?"

"I get that a lot."

Zac chuckled.

Faith and Oz

Devon sauntered over and smoothly took Faith off Oz.

Oz shrugged and went over to talk to Anya.

Zac

Wilma walked with Zac over to the bar.

"So, how's it all coming?"

"Aww, good," Zac replied.

"And the next album?"

"Early next year. Yay."

Wilma grinned.

"Yay indeed. Can I get you a drink?"

"No, I'm fine."

Faith

Devon slid his hands down to Faith's butt.

She raised an eyebrow.

"Scuse me?"

"Yes?" Devon said, batting his eyelids innocently and grinning.

Zac

"So."

Wilma went on to say something that Zac completely missed because he was preoccupied with the sight of Devon's hand on Faith's behind.

"Umm, excuse me," Zac said, getting up.

He walked over and tapped Devon on the shoulder.

Faith

"Damn, caught," Devon joked, grinning. He let go of Faith.

"Yeah, you're lucky I didn't kill you," Faith replied.

Zac

"He'll be even luckier if I don't kill him," Zac said dryly, taking Faith into his arms.

Faith

"She never used to object," Devon went on.

"I never used to be engaged," Faith replied, kissing Zac on the cheek.

Zac

"Yes, so begone evil mortal," Zac said.

He flicked a hand at him as he kissed Faith back.

Faith

Devon grinned and left to flirt with some girls by the bar.

"Mmmm," Faith said lazily. "Have fun talking to that chick?"

Zac

"Her name is Wilma," Zac replied. "If her last name had been Flinstone I would have asked for her autograph."

He nodded seriously.

Faith

"Well that's... disturbing," Faith commented.

She pressed herself closer to Zac and leaned her head on his shoulder.

Zac

Zac chuckled.

"She's just a fan who recognised me."

Faith

Faith smiled.

"Well, we can't all be famous."

Zac

"Yes," Zac agreed. "If we were all famous then the papparazzi would be overwhelmed with celebrities to harrass."

Faith

"Smart ass."

Faith shook her head slightly.

Zac

Zac chuckled.

"Yes, my ass is very smart. That's just one of my endearing qualities."

Faith

"Remind me again why I'm marrying you?"

Faith grinned.

Zac

"Umm, because for some inexplicable reason you fell madly in love with me?" Zac suggested. "Just as I've fallen deeply in love with you?"

Faith

"Awwwwwww," Faith grinned.

"Well, I know why you fell in love with me, it's because I'm wicked cool."

Zac

"And awesome, and amazing, and wonderful, and beautiful, and incredible..." Zac added with a grin.

He kissed her lips softly.

Faith

"Suck up."

Faith kissed him back and sighed happily.

"How about we get going?"

Zac

Zac kissed her cheek.

"Okay," he said. "Shall we say goodbye to Oz and Devon first? Or will we just leave?"

Faith

"I think we should just leave."

Faith grinned cheekily.

Zac

"Okay," Zac said cheerfully.

Leaving his arm around her waist, he directed them to the door.

Faith

"You're not saying goodbye?" Devon called, pouting as Faith turned around.

"Goodbye..."

She grinned and kept going.

"AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!"

Zac

"So long, farewell, dada dada dada..." Zac sang. "Yeah, that's all I know."

He escorted Faith out the door and hailed a taxi to take them back to Xaviers.

Faith

They got in the taxi and Faith lay her head on Zac's shoulder, eyes closed.

"Sleepy..."

Zac

Zac kissed her head softly. Soon they arrived and picked up the kids.

"Thanks," Zac said.

"No problem," Meg smiled.

"Hope they weren't too much trouble."

"Nah."

"Oh, by the way, I don't suppose you happen to know of anyone we could hire as a nanny?"

Faith

Will thought for a second.

"Hmmm, well the agency we worked at, there are a lot of good baby sitters, looking for work."

Faith nodded and picked up a sleeping Airlia.

"Well, they're gonna need to know about the stranger side of life..."

Zac

"The agency specialises in that kind of babysitter," Meg smiled. "I'm sure I have a card around here somewhere."

"That'll be great," Zac said.

He peeking in on B'Elanna and Tom as they slept and Meg went to a desk to find a card.

"Aww, so cute."

Faith

"Rockin," Faith said sleepily.

Airlia yawned and rested her head on Faith's shoulder as Meg came back and handed Zac the card.

Zac

"Thanks," Zac said, putting the card in his pocket.

"No problem," Meg replied.

Zac picked up Saku, they said goodbye and left.
