16 December 2003 - Remorse Vs Sarcasm

Nessa

Chrissy and Madison

"Madison, wait!" Chrissy called, jogging after her. She'd been sitting outside P3 for a few hours, waiting for Madison's shift to end.

Madison turned around and saw it was Chrissy, then turned around and started walking away again.

"Please, Madison!"

"Please what?" Madison stopped walking and faced Chrissy.

"Please forgive me!" Chrissy cried.

"Because you don't know what to do?" Madison replied sarcastically. "Please forgive you, because you don't know what to do?"

"Mad, why won't you just listen?"

Madison shook her head. "That's not the next line, come on, you know it! Don't deny me, the pain I'm going through... please forgive me, I need you like I do."

"Can you be serious?"

"I don't know, can I?"

"Just talk to me."

"Um... let me think... no."

"When did you become so sarcastic?"

"Right about the time you became such a bitch," Madison shot back.

"I deserved that," Chrissy said softly.

"Well, yes, duh. And even if you didn't, I don't care. I already told you, there's no - "

"I'm sorry, ok? I really am, I'm trying so hard to find a way to make it up to you, but I just can't, can't, can't - "

"Can't form a sentence?"

Chrissy ignored the comment. "I just want to know how to make it better."

Madison sighed. "You really want to know?"

"Yes."

"Alright... you turn around and you walk in the opposite direction to me."

"How - "

"Ooh, this is going to be tougher than I thought. Ok, see, Chrissy, most people have these lovely limbs called legs. They come in handy a lot. See, what they do, is they do an action called walking. And you just, step one foot in front of the other - "

"I'm serious."

"About what?"

"About being sorry."

"And I'm serious about not caring."

"I made a mistake, I know what I did to you was - "

"What do you know about that? You don't know what you did to me, ok? You don't know how much you hurt me."

"Then tell me!"

"You tried to kill me, Chrissy, and you didn't care. Do the math."

"I just want to make it better."

"Then leave. Just leave."

"I can't."

"Then neither can I."

Madison shook her head and walked away, but this time, Chrissy let her go.
