Nathan and Mouse

Nathan woke as the first rays of light crept over the horizon. One vampire, unwary of the sun's fire screamed as it burst into flames and disappeared in a flurry of ash. He smiled grimly.

First though, before he left...

He found a pad and pen and began to write, scrawls of barely literate writing covering the page. He tried to make it as easy to understand as possible, but he only Saw in symbols and signs. He had to find them himself, but it would help if more then one set of eyes watched with him.

The broken Seer soon left, letting himself out quietly. He turned around, seeking the way that seemed most right. He found it and started to walk, shifting his backpack to lie more comfortably across his shoulders. He registered no surprise when RK flowed out to join him.

"So, we search, Old One."

"Indeed we do. We must find her."

"If needs be, I will kill her."

"I know. I would save her if I can."

"Mercy is both a weakness and a strength."

~*~*~*~

Mouse woke early, both a conditioning of her street days and a character trait. She got out of bed quietly and went to the kitchen to get some breakfast. Passing by the table, pages fluttered and caught her eye. She picked them up and started to read. A smudged thumbprint of blood smeared across the corners.

The Three who are One
The One who are Three
In your hands lies the fate of this trinity

One of water and spirit
Two worlds of the mind
Tainted by terrible bloodlust of body and mind you must control

Teach compassion and love to this child of self
Feelings to the shallow waters and humanity to the beast
Or watch as she devours all to slake her insatiable thirst

One of air and flame
Proud, haughty and quick
To burning anger and to furious white hot rage

Teach patience, humility to this winged wildchild of feathers, fur and flame
Watch careful his steps and his words to show the thoughts within
Or else reap the firey whirlwind of his childish feline fury

One of earth and of heart
Soul wise as the land and as deep as the mountain's roots
Age in his eyes and healing in his touch

Teach him to *be*, to love and to live
Or watch him wither, grow old and die
As he gives to the world's ills all he is

The Three who are One
The One who are Three
Carefully nurtured and guarded must be

She watches for them
The One who is flame and sun and terrible dawn
She of this earth yet tainted, unholy, despoiled

Once we did worship
Once we did bow
Now no one remebers and this she does vow

Vengeance for slights
Redresses for wrongs
This world she shall leave a nothing of none

Watch for the woman with no past to her name
The wolf to the angel, dual sanctifying flames
The child of sun, burnt to blackness before birth

The storm in her fury
The white hawk who is lost
The Trickster, the Goddess, the Flame in the Void

The child in chains
The Spryte of the air
The one who is Faeren, from deep waters born

Seek help from the wise
Ask aid from the Old
Know you must watch this destiny unfold

The fate of this world
Rests in your hands
Be wolf, be bird, be cat, be fox

Find the Knave of Diamonds
The Jack of Hearts
And the Ace of Spades

Beware the Queen of Clubs
The King and the Knave
Black's not your colour nor this your suite

Beware the friends who are false
The allies who be not
Seek out the enemy whose truth is hard to see

The nothingness burns
The seed of the void is conceived, borne by one unwilling
A man of science records unknowing the beginning of the end

Find him before the light of day
She seeks him out for the knowledge he holds
And for the nothingness embedded in his soul and bones

To my warnings, take heed
My instructions to heart
Do not dismiss the reflections in a broken mirror

Lose not the wolf
Find thou 'no-man'
Seek thou the one who speaks only truth or not at all

Bitterbynde on you I lay
Bound to this fate, to this task
Break it and watch the elements tear this world apart

Destruction I foresee
The death of all that is, and yet might be
Avert it the Three who are One will if taught aright

If ever they fall
If ever they succumb to the flaws in their nature
The world will end, cast into nothing

From nothing the world was born
And to nothing it will return
The void can conquer all.

Mouse put the sheets of paper down carefully, eyes blank with too much thought. She didn't understand...and she was thinking Taylor wouldn't either.
