Faith
Faith took a deep breath and dialled in Zac's number.
She'd been avoiding seeing him for the last few days, not really sure how to explain the fact that she was 9 months pregnant and ready to give birth any day now, to something. She wasn't even sure what.
Xander and Giles had no idea what it was, and they had no idea how to get rid of it.
She listened to the rining of Zac's phone and willed him to pick it up.
Zac
"Saku! Don't claw the carpet! That's what your scratching post is for," Zac scolded.
He picked up his ringing phone.
"Yo?"
Faith
"Hey Zac, it's Faith."
Faith took a deep breath, and wrinkled her nose slightly.
She was suddenly very nervous.
"Um... I have something to tell you, but it's better if I do it in person."
Zac
"Hi Faithy," Zac smiled. "Did you want me to come over then? And if so, when, because I'll need to see if I can con Ike into looking after Saku for me."
He paused and gave Saku a look.
"Saku," he warned.
Faith
"Um, yeah, if you could."
Faith paused and ran a hand over her pregnant stomach.
"And anytime is good... I don't think I can really go anywhere anyway."
Zac and Isaac
"Okay cool, I'll be right over," Zac replied.
They hung up, and Zac was soon able to con Isaac into taking care of Saku for him.
"Maybe you'll have better luck stopping hism from clawing the carpet," Zac suggested.
Isaac laughed.
"Maybe, maybe not," he smiled.
A few minutes later, Zac was at Faith's door.
Faith
Faith heard Zac at her door and slowly got up from her chair, mentally yelling at her back for being in so much pain.
She went over to the door and opened it, sheepishly smiling.
"Hi."
Zac
Zac blinked and stared.
"Faith?"
This was definitely one of those "what is wrong with this picture?" moments.
Faith
"Um... surprise?" Faith said.
She stepped back slightly to let Zac in.
"Yeah... this is kinda what I had to tell you... show you... you know? Well... I guess to state the obvious, I'm remarkably pregnant."
Zac
Zac stepped inside and gulped.
"Wow..." he said. "I've been told I work fast. I did not know I worked quite this fast."
Faith
"Yeah..."
Faith wrinkled her nose.
"I think this is a little gift from those guys that took me... so... um, surprise, I'm going to have a baby. A baby what, I'm not quite sure..."
Zac
"Oh... once of those jobs huh?"
Zac couldn't help but think of Mouse. He then gave her cheek a kiss.
Faith
Faith smiled weakly.
"I think I need to sit down..."
Zac
"Oh yeah, sure," Zac replied.
He put his around around her and helped her to the lounge.
"Can I get you anything?"
Faith
Faith shook her head, then quickly nodded.
"A bucket... and hurry..."
Zac
"Right, one bucket coming right up."
He hurried to the laundry, scooped up the bucket handle and raced back out again.
Faith
Faith took the bucket from him and leaned over it, coughing, and feeling like she was going to vomit. She pulled back and burped, lifting her hands to shiled the bright light that seemed to be coming from her.
"Uh..."
She coughed and closed her mouth as the sounds of a crying baby filled the air.
Zac
Zac stared in shock.
"Oh my gosh..." he gasped.
It was a little hard to focus on the little baby, because of the bright light coming from it.
Faith
Faith sat up properly and looked at the baby, as the light diminished.
"Um..."
She lifted the baby up and cradled it in her arms.
Zac
Zac sat down next to her.
"Oh my gosh..." he repeated. "Never... never seen, or heard of, anything like this..."
Faith
Faith nodded.
"Hmmm, mystical pregnancies, not a loving."
Zac
Zac stroked Faith's hair as he looked at the baby.
"Yeah..." he murmered.
Faith
"Mommy?"
"Ooh, she talks... that's... that's... that's... um..." Faith was speechless.
"Mommy?"
"Well, yeah, I guess that's me..." Faith frowned for a second. "You need a name, don't you?"
The girl nodded.
"Ok... um... Airlia."
"Daddy?" she asked Zac.
Faith raised her eyebrows.
Ooh, how do you explain to a child that... well, she wasn't conceived?
Zac
"You can... call me that if you want," Zac said tentatively. "I'm not really your father, but I am marrying your mother."
Okay, this was... odd. To say the least.
Faith
Airlia nodded happily, content with that answer.
Faith frowned.
"And we're gonna need to get her clothes..."
She pulled her jacket off and wrapped it around the little girl who looked somewhat dazed.
Zac
Zac nodded slowly.
"Zoe might have something her size she can borrow until we can get her some of her own," he said thoughtfully.
Faith
"Yeaaaah," Faith said. "I don't think I want my... daughter... to be naked forever."
Airlia hopped off Faith's lap and shifted into a pegasus, and trotted away gracefully.
Faith gaped and turned to Zac.
"Ok, you saw that too, right?"
Zac
"Oh yeah," Zac said.
He gulped.
"You sure we're not dreaming?"
Faith
"We have to be. Childbirth isn't that easy."
Faith ran a hand over her one more, flat stomach.
"And I'm all nicely shaped again."
She stood up and caught Airlia, who was flying in the direction of the window, wobbling slightly.
"Well, brighter side, Saku has someone to play with..."
Zac
Zac grinned.
"Yes, yes he does. Assuming we're not dreaming."
He kissed her softly.
Faith
Faith kissed him back.
"Well it's a nice - "
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Oh... I guess Brand just met Airlia," she said dryly.
Brand bounced out of his room, holding Airlia. "Who's this?"
"That would be the result of the mystical pregnancy. That's Airlia. Airlia, that's Brand. He's your... well, he's related to you technically, seeing as Brand's made from me..."
Airlia shifted back into human form and looked at Brand with big green eyes and smiled.
Zac
Zac shook his head.
"Y'know what? Life is crazy," Zac said. "Okay to the average human the idea of being an alien and living on earth posing as a human is pretty incredible. But I have human/dathrian hybrid children, and a weredathrian for a son. And a mutant/dathrian hyrbid on the way, as well as an animorph/dathrian hybrid. My fiance is a vampire slayer, who protects the Key to the Heavens who just so happens to be made of a part of her. And has just had a mystical pregnancy, the result of which resembles a five year old girl who can turn into a pegasus and she was only born today."
Faith
"Hmmm, not to mention the impending apocalypse," Faith commented.
She lifted Airlia up and hitched her onto her hip.
"Ok, we'll need clothes for you, won't we? So... we'll go do that as soon as possible."
"Yes," Airlia said, smiling happily.
"She's cute, but she most likely gets that from me," Faith commented. "I know that's where Brand gets it from."
Zac
Zac grinned.
"Absolutely. And on that note, I'll just run home quickly and pick up some clothes for Airlia. Then we can go shopping?"
Faith
"Sounds like a plan."
Faith kissed his cheek.
"Come on, Airlia, you're gonna have a bath."
"Bath!" she bounced happily.
"Oook, why is everything that's made from me hyperactive?"
Faith shook her head slightly and headed for the bathroom.
Zac
Zac smiled and left for home. By the looks of things, Zoe was playing in the rec room, so Zac just snuck into her room and picked up a few things. Then he headed back downstairs.
"Zac, you're back," Isaac said.
"Hmm? Oh, I'm just going back out again. I can take Saku with me though..."
"Okay cool."
Zac picked up Saku and they headed back to Faith's place.
Faith
Faith had Airlia wrapped in a towel, sitting in front of the TV when Zac came back.
She looked up from plaiting her hair.
"Hey."
Zac
"Hey," Zac grinned. "Saku, this is Airlia. Airlia, this is Saku."
He put Saku down on the floor, who immediately switched to cat form. He sniffed at Airlia.
"Oh, here are the clothes..."
Faith
"Thanks."
Faith quickly dressed Airlia in the dress and underwear Zac handed to her, then put her on the ground, where she shifted into the pegasus and trotted over to Saku.
Zac
"No problemo," Zac replied.
Saku sniffed at Airlia. She smelled weird. He walked between her legs and Zac chuckled at the sight of how small Saku was in comparission.
Faith
Airlia flapped her wings and flew up to Faith, and then shifted into human form, leaving Faith to catch her quickly. She wrapped her arms around Faith's neck and giggled happily.
"Alright, we should go?"
Faith paused.
"Brand, you wanna - "
"I'll stay," Brand bounced.
"Ok."
Zac
"Okay, let's go then," Zac said, standing up.
He scooped Saku up in his arms and began to carry him out to the van.
Faith
They arrived at the shops shortly after, and piled out of the van. Airlia whimpered softly and hugged Faith's leg. Faith bent slightly and lifted her up.
"Hey, it's ok."
She looked around.
"Hmmm, ok, where to?"
Zac
"Umm, a shop?" Zac suggested with a grin.
He adjusted his hold on Saku and pointed.
"Mom usually shops there for clothes for Zoe."
Faith
"Smart ass," Faith muttered and headed in that direction.
Airlia started bouncing again.
"And she's hyper again."
Zac
Zac shrugged and lead them over to the shop.
"You get that," he said.
Saku stuck his thumb in his mouth.
Faith
Faith set Airlia down, put kept a firm grip on her hand, as they browsed through the many racks of clothing.
Zac
Before long they had picked up a number of items for Airlia.
"Hmm, what else do we need?" Zac wondered.
Faith
They shopped around some more, then headed back to Faith's house.
"Hmmm, she needs a bedroom."
Faith frowned.
"I might have to convert the gym."
Zac
Zac nodded.
"Perhaps we should forget the extension idea and just buy a house," he said. "Enough bedrooms for all of us, including future kids, and a proper gym for yourself. Actually... maybe we should get a nanny. Because lets face it, we're both busy, and the kids do need to be looked after."
Faith
Faith thought for a second.
"That's actually a good idea."
She put Airlia down on the ground, where she shifted into pegasus form and trotted off.
"Might just be easier that way."
Zac
"Yeah," Zac nodded. "Well... whoever the nanny is they're going to have to have powers. And be used to weird stuff. If we could find someone who's used to both magic and alien powers, that would be good. Probably more magic than alien at this point if we can't though."
Faith
Faith sighed.
"Yeah... well, we should look into that... sooner than later. We should also look into, you know, protection spells on the house as well... because unfortunately, for you, Zac, living with me is like living with a big beacon for demons."
Zac
Zac shrugged.
"You get that," he said. "I don't care. Just so long as I'm with you, I don't care how many demons come along."
Faith
"Awww."
Faith smiled.
"But you'll regret that in a few months time, when we have to keep getting things replaced and fixed."
Zac
"Will never regret being with you," Zac said decievely. "And as for things having to be replaced and fixed all the time... well, like you said. Protection spells. And in any case we would just have to put the valuable stuff in a room that won't be mangled, won't we?"
Faith
Faith smiled.
"Yeah... ok, we'll see."
She kissed his cheek.
Zac
Zac kissed her back.
"Why don't we go looking for a house sometime soon?" he suggested.
Faith
"Sounds good," Faith replied.
She thought for a second.
"Let's make it very soon."
Zac
Zac grinned.
"Fine by me," he said.
