3 December 2003 - Vampire nature

Tegan and Nessa

Spike, Vortigern and Mordred

Coming close to morning but not yet dawn, Spike sat up in bed and eased out from under Vortigern's arm. The teen murmured in his sleep and turned over. Spike dressed hurriedly and left the room.

He'd felt vampires enter the grounds.

The evil vampiric twin children Dru had turned grinned at him. The boy pushed the girl on the swing.

"Spike. Our Sire's Childe."

"What are you two doing here?" Spike hissed at them, eyes flaring gold.

"She's lonely, Spike, she's lonely. The cat left her all alone, keeping her kittens from her," the girl spoke up.

"Good for Sabre," Spike said.

They hissed at him.

"Bad Childe!"

"No tears for your Sire? She misses you...and vampires aren't meant to love the sunlight."

"What are you two on about?"

"She wants you back, Spike. William. Precious poison. Dearest Childe. Without the boy."

Spike whitened, then ran inside.

"Vort, Vort, wake up."

Vortigern woke up muzzily as Spike ran around their room, picking things up, then putting them down again.

"Spike...what's wrong?"

"Dru."

"Christ."

Vortigern got up and started to get dressed.

"What are we doing?"

"Going to see peaches."

Vortigern stared at him in confusion.

"Why?"

"Cos...he can make it so Dru can *never* make me let you go."

Spike crushed Vortigern to his chest, fear and anger racing through him.

"I love you, demon and soul. But she's my *Sire*..."

"And what can Angel do?"

"He's the head of the clan. If I make this all proper and official like...and it has his blessing. Dru can't say a word. Not against her Daddy."

Spike kissed Vortigern hard and frantically.

"We'll grab a car, and go to LA."

"Spike, why bother with that when my brother's a teleporter?"

"Good point."

Vortigern contacted Mordred and explained a few things.

He teleported them both to LA, and then left to go back to bed with Gwen.

Spike walked with Vortigern quickly to the Hyperion, entering quietly.

Angel

Angel was sitting in the lobby, drinking a mug of blood, like the insomniac he is. He looked up as Spike and Vortigern entered, and stood.

"Spike."

He nodded.

"Vortigern."

Spike and Vortigern

"Peaches," Spike said.

The vampire was even more jittery then normal, almost vibrating.

Vortigern yawned and just looked confused.

"Hi, Angel."

Spike cracked his knuckles and bit down on his lip, not sure how to approach this. Bloody hell.

"Dru wants me back. She's *lonely*, or so the evil twin duo told me this morning. She...droight de seigneur, mate. You know what that means. She doesn't want Vort."

Angel

"The Order Of Aurelius," Angel said softly.

He nodded.

"I'll do what I can."

Cordy came down the stairs, clipping her hair back and yawning.

"Honestly, did you not sleep again?" she asked, then realised there were others in the room. "Hello."

Spike and Vortigern

"Good, good. Hi princess," Spike tossed off to Cordelia.

"Hey, Cordelia," Vortigern yawned.

"I want to take Vortigern as my Consort. There's no way if you do the ceremony that Dru can object or try to sever the bond. She can kick and scream to Miss Edith till the stars fall out of the sky, but she won't be able to take him from me," Spike said quietly and seriously.

He twitched slightly.

"*Please*, Angelus."

Angel

Cordelia smiled at the sound of Spike saying please, but quickly wiped the smile away.

Angel nodded.

"You really love him?"

Cordy made an 'aww' face.

"Then I will do it."

Spike and Vortigern

"Thanks," Spike said, relaxing slightly.

"And for the non-vampires...what exactly is going on?" Vortigern said.

Spike turned to his lover and took his hands in his own.

"Means, pet...you'll be mine. Forever. And I'll be yours. Forever. Bound in blood. You'll have a right to call on the order of Aurelius as your own, just like me."

"So...married is basically it?"

"Yeah."

Vortigern smiled and brushed a kiss against Spike's lips.

"Fine with me. What have I got to do?"

Spike leant his forehead against Vortigern's.

"Bit of mojo...but when I say bound by blood...peaches is going to have to taste your blood. And mine."

"Vampire, I know," Vortigern gently reassured him.

"Blood is important."

Angel

"I'm sorry, but it's... it's the only way," Angel said softly.

"Stupid vampires and your blood," Cordy commented.

Angel looked at her. "I pay your salary."

"That's right... not stupid, very intelligent... I'm going... to go... elsewhere, so I don't witness this blood bath."

And with that, Cordelia ran off.

Angel looked at Spike and Vort again. "I don't know why I don't just fire her. Anyway... when would you like to do this?"

Spike

"You don't fire her cos the princess gets the visions you need to keep fighting for the PTB," Spike said.

"Now is good. Yesterday is better. She can use a lot more mojo now..."

The vampire visibly twitched. Magic was something he didn't like and didn't understand. He took an unnessacry breath.

"Angelus, head of the Order of Aurelius, Sire of my Sire, I come before you to ask a boon."

The ceremony was begun.

Angel

Angel stepped forward.

"From blood..."

He closed his eyes briefly as he vamped out.

"Of mine..."

He bit into Spike's neck and drank about half a pint, then pulled back.

Spike and Vortigern

Spike swayed slightly on his feet, game face coming on instinctively in reaction to the biting.

"From your blood, I was made. I ask that you take under blood, one Vortigern Lewllyn to be my Consort. Tied by blood."

He indicated for Vortigern to come forward and the youth did so.

Vortigern's eyes flickered to Spike, and the telepath took the words for the correct response from his lover's mind.

"I offer my blood freely to the head of the Order, so that I may be taken into it. By blood we are bound."

Angel

Angel looked at Vortigern, gold eyes flickering.

"From blood of mine... to blood of yours..."

Angel bent his head and bit Vortigern, drinking half a pint.

"What has been done, cannot be undone."

He stepped back.

Spike and Vortigern

"What has been done, cannot be undone," Spike agreed with a sense of relief.

Vortigern tilted his head slightly as Spike bit down on the opposite side of his neck and drank.

"By blood, we are bound."

The teen wavered slightly on his feet and Spike put an arm around his waist to make sure he didn't fall over. He looked at Angel as he supported Vortigern through the bloodloss.

"Thanks."

Angel

"Not a problem," Angel said quietly.

He turned to face the office.

"Cordelia, can you bring out a bandage?"

Cordy came walking out holding a bandage and went over to Vort.

"May I?"

Spike and Vortigern

"Thanks, Cordelia," Vortigern said, taking the bandage from her.

Hissing slightly, he put it on Angel's bite mark.

Spike's was already fading.

"Well...that hurt a lot more then usual."

Angel

Cordelia grinned and headed back into the office.

Angel shrugged. "Sorry."

Vortigern and Spike

"S'alright," Vortigern said.

He yawned.

"And now Spike's paranoid tendecies on the subject of Dru have been catered to..."

"Not like you don't have them as well."

"True, very true. Dru frightens me, with good reason. Least you and Angel are sane. All her Childer are more then a bit...off as well. Wonder how you came out as sane as you did."

Spike shrugged, then grinned.

"Who have you been talking to, luv? Always been told I'm bonkers...often by peaches here."

Vortigern gave him a forebearing look, then glanced at Angel.

"However did you manage not to stake him?"

Angel

"Willpower," Angel replied dryly.

Cordy stuck her head out of the office door. "And you can blame Angel for Dru anyway, because he was the one who drove her ins - "

"Cordy, you're fired."

"You can't fire me."

Spike and Vortigern

"Ah, no one's managed to stake me yet cos I'm so sodding handsome," Spike said, grinning.

"Right...let's add delusional to the list of character flaws," Vortigern said.

Spike pouted.

"Right...call your brother and let's go home."

"He might not be very happy about that," Vortigern informed Spike.

"And why's that?"

"You've been around for over a century...I'm sure I don't have to spell it out in detail."

Angel

Angel looked slightly amused.

"If Dru comes here looking for trouble, I'll give you a heads up."

Vortigern and Spike

"That would be good...but she's more likely to drop by the mansion first," Vortigern said.

"We'll do the same," Spike sighed.

"She's...more unstable of late. Then usual."

Angel

"Because Sabre left?" Angel asked, folding his arms across his chest.

Serafina came running down the stairs.

"Da!"

"Don't run, little one," he said, bending down to lift her up.

Spike

Spike shrugged.

"Who knows? Maybe. Where is the cat, anyways?"

"Gone away, gone," Serafina said, eyes showing flecks of gold.

"Hey, Sera. Fao's missing you like crazy, and so's Kanika," Vortigern said to the little girl.

"Miss dem too..." Serafina sighed.

"Uncle Sabre went away, with my cousins. Away...away from the scratchy lady."

"Good enough description of her," Spike said dryly.

Angel

"Sera, would you like to go back to New York for a visit?" Angel asked.

Serafina nodded vigorously.

Spike and Vortigern

"Prof said you were welcome," Spike said with a bit of a shrug.

"But then again...he let the cat'a'mountain in too."

"Who?"

Vortigern looked at him. He'd thought he'd known all of Spike's nicknames for people..."

"Sabretooth. Big, growly, stunk like a cat in heat."

"I'll take your word on the smell," Vortigern said dryly.

Angel

Angel shrugged.

"Just for a day maybe, so Sera can spend time with her brother and sister."

"FAO! KANIKA!" Serafina bounced.

Spike

"Excited much?" Spike said, smiling a little.

"Can tell she doesn't take after *you*, peaches."

Angel

Angel gave a small smile.

"We're gonna see Fao and Kanika!" Serafina bounced.

"Yes... why don't you go find your uncle Wes?"

Angel put Serafina on the ground and she ran up the stairs.

"UNCLE WESLEY!" she yelled.

Wesley

"Yes, Sera?" Welsey came out of his room, yawning slightly.

"We're going to New York!"

"Wehn? Today?"

Wesley paled slightly. That girl would be at the mansion...

"Don't know."

Serafina frowned, then looked down at Angel.

"Are we?"

Angel

Angel nodded.

"May as well."

Serafina bounced.

"HOORAY!"

Spike and Wesley

"Right..." Spike nodded slowly.

"Ya know what demongirl and the geek did?"

"What?" Wesley asked as he bent down and picked up Serafina.

"OPened up a Bronze in New York."

Angel

"Oh..."

Angel looked a mix between amused and worried.

"I hope they don't get demons crashing it as often as we did in Sunnydale."

Spike and Vortigern

"Don't think so. There's plenty of freehold clubs anyway..."

Spike shrugged slightly.

"And Anya hired a Xeltos demon as a bouncer."

"Say what?" Vortigern asked.

"Xeltos demon...they look human, they're almost invulnerable to magic, they can 'smell' demons, and they're herbivorous," Wesley said.

Angel

"Good to see she's thinking," Angel commented.

Serafina looked at Wesley with big eyes. "Down pease."

Wesley, Spike and Vortigern

"Of course," Wesley murmured and set her down on the ground.

She walked down the stairs again carefully, holding onto the railing.

"Wolf?" Spike turned to Vortigern raising an eyebrow.

Vortigern closed his eyes.

"He needs to get dressed. He'll be here in a few minutes."

He opened them again, smiling slightly.

"He's swearing quite vehemently."

"Doesn't he always?" Spike said dryly.

"Not around the kids."

Angel

"Why is he swearing?" Cordelia asked.

Angel gave her a long look. "Guess."

"Ooh."

Vortigern and Spike

"He'll get over it."

Vortigern shrugged slightly.

"Like he hasn't routed me out of a warm and shared bed before either..."

Spike snorted slightly.

"And he was lucky I didn't hurt him for it."

"See, nothing says love like psychopathic threats of maiming."

Angel

Cordelia looked at the clock.

"Wait, they're doing that now? It's so early."

Angel gave her another long look.

"What?" she asked.

"I'm sure you wouldn't want us discussing your sex life, so, please, don't discuss theirs," he replied.

Spike and Vortigern

"What sex life?" Spike murmured, then exhaled as Vortigern rammed an elbow into his ribs.

"Ow."

"Shut up, and be pleasant. Or pretend real good," Vortigern told him sweetly.

"Anyway...it's wolf and sparks. When aren't they doing it?"

"Shut up about my twin."

"Why? It's so fun to watch you get defensive love."

Angel

"But... so early..." Cordelia was clearly stuck on this fact.

"Hey Cordy, I think there's a sale on..." Angel said.

Cordelia snapped to life. "SALE? SALE?"

Spike, Vortigern and Mordred

Spike chuckled softly.

"Good to know you have her buttons pegged, peaches."

"That was like watching the hobbits and mentionig food," Vortigern murmured.

"Oh, I made that mistake once. Never again."

Spike rolled his eyes.

Mordred appeared, and ran a hand through his sweat tousled hair.

"Right...who's coming?"

"Well, you just did..." Spike murmured.

Vortigern bit his lip to keep from laughing as Mordred turned an icy glare on his lover.

"You really do feel dusthappy today, don't you, Spike?"

Angel

Serafina came down in cat form, and shifted at the sight of Mordred. She smiled widely.

"Fao?" she said to Angel.

Angel lifted her up. "Fao."

Mordred, Vortigern and Spike

"Right..."

Mordred yawned.

"Anyway. Who I am taking," he shot a glare at Spike as he avoided any mention of the word 'come', "to the mansion?"

"Well, me, your twin, peaches, mini-angel and maybe watcher the second," Spike said in an explantory tone.

"Stop being a smart arse, I haven't had any coffee yet, and already done three trips."

"That's not all you've done this morning, is it?"

"Vortigern, shut him up, or I swear, we're taking him home in a dusterbuster."

Angel and Gwen

"Well... you could co... back for us," Angel said, not knowing another word for 'come'.

Serafina bounced. "Fao and Kanika."

Gwen rolled over in bed and giggled to herself.

"Mordreeeeed, it's getting cold, and I'm all on my lonesome..." Gwen said to him, then proceeded to speak extremely dirty to him.

Spike, vortigern, Mordred and Wesley

Spike snickered.

Vortigern hit him.

"Oh, c'mon. Peaches is too much fun to stop teasing anytime soon..."

"Stop it."

Spike grinned and mimed zipping his mouth closed.

Mordred looked up at Wesley.

"Going to the mansion as well, or staying here?"

"I think I'll accompany you," Wesley said as he came down the stairs.

"There's still some work I could do there."

"Right."

Mordred concentrated and lifted them all to the rec room of the mansion.

"Going now," he told them and disappeared again.

Spike snickered harder.

"I wish I knew what sparks was telling him..."

Vortigern bllushed faintly and determindly closed the link.

"Ne'er you mind..."

Mordred kissed Gwen hard.

Angel and Gwen

Angel put Serafina down.

"I'm gonna find Fao and Kanika," she announced and shifted into cat form, padding away.

Angel looked at Wesley.

"Library?"

Gwen kissed him back.

"Someone anxious to see me?"

Mordred, Vortigern, Spike and Wesley

"Yes."

Wesley nodded.

"There were some texts I would value your advice on..."

"Right, I'm going to bed..." Spike nodded at them and then took Vortigern's hand.

Vortigern blushed slightly and followed Spike's non too subtle urgings.

"Always," Mordred said, kissing her neck.

"And Spike is so lucky I didn't dust him..."

Angel and Gwen

Angel and Wesley spent the time going over ancient texts and languages while Gwen and Mordred had sex.

And who didn't see that coming - ah.. arriving.
