24 November 2003 - Gondor

Nessa and Tegan

Gwen

Gwen slid off her horse as they arrived at Gondor. She looked around. Not too shabby.

"Gondor," Aragorn said wistfully, dismounting his horse as they stopped.

"I take it this is Gondor," Merry said, grinning cheekily.

Spike, Vortigern and Mordred

"Well, it's awful big," Spike drawled from the wagon's seat, bringing it to a stop.

Vortigern's fingers twitched slightly as he looked upwards at the soaring walls of the city.

"Vortigern's already mesmerized," Mrodred said dryly as he dismounted.

"Shh..." Vortigern murmured, eyes fixed on the city.

"He's lost," Mordred said.

"Your Majesty!" A man bustled up.

"We did not expect to see you back for a few more months yet!"

Gwen

Aragorn conversed with the man, and introductions were made, then the group were bustled into the palace.

Gwen carried Eavan, while Merry was holding Bryant, the babies getting slightly too big for their stroller.

Mordred and Faolan

Mordred picked up Faolan as the little boy gazed around with wide eyes. His mismatched gaze caused a few thoughts that made Mordred frown slightly.

"You don't go wandering off."

"But Da..."

"But me no buts. You stay close."

"Your city is magnficent, Aragorn," Mordred said.

Aragorn

"Thank you," Aragorn replied, leading them into the main hall.

"Aragorn!" cried a voice from above.

They looked up to see Arwen standing on the landing above them.

Spike and Vortigern

"Great, more elves," Spike muttered.

Vortigern elbowed him as Aragorn moved up the stairs towards Arwen.

"Cormamin lindua ele lle, Arwen," Aragorn murmured to her. (My heart sings to see thee)

Gwen

Gwen bit back a laugh and took Mordred's hand. "Maybe we should give them some privacy?"

The Hobbits bounced around slightly.

Mordred, Vortigern and Spike

"I think they're more discreet then we are, love, but yeah," Mordred murmured into her ear.

"We'll see you later, Aragorn?" He called up to the lean man.

Aragorn raised a hand and waved distractedly as he kept speaking with Arwen.

"And we're dismissed, boys and girls," Spike said.

"Tavern! Food! Ale!" Pippin said.

"All you ever think of is your stomach," Vortigern said.

Gwen

Gwen grinned. "I didn't mean it like that. I meant give them a chance to talk, they haven't seen each other in awhile, not because they might wanna..."

"Follow your example?" Merry asked cheekily.

"Do you want to not eat while we stay here, Merry?" Gwen threatened.

"I'll be good."

Mordred and Spike

"Ah, Gwen and her threats," Mordred said, kissing her neck as he placed an arm around her waist.

They started to leave.

"But she wouldn't be our Gwen without them," Spike said.

"*My* Gwen," Mordred said.

"Of course, Wolf." Spike grinned.

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"So possessive."

She leaned into Mordred's arms slightly, then hitched Eavan up higher as they found the tavern, much to Pippin and Merry's delight.

Mordred

"With something as precious as you, of course," Mordred said, kissing her cheek.

"Taking notes for what to say to Rosie, Sam?" Merry teased.

Sam blushed, as he usually did whenever anyone mentioned her name.

Gwen

"Merry... two words... no food," Gwen said, raising an eyebrow.

"But, but, but, but..." Merry frowned. "But I was talking to Sam."

"Ah, but Sam's nice, and picking on Sam is like picking on me," Gwen grinned.

Faolan

"But it's fun," Merry said, pouting slightly.

"Thank you, Gwen," Sam said softly.

Faolan looked at some children longingly, but stayed by his father's side like he'd been told.

Gwen

"No problem, Sam," Gwen said, smiling at him.

They walked into the tavern and Merry and Pippin raced to the bar.

Mordred and Vortigern

The group settled at a table.

"Hobbits..." Vortigern murmured. He took out a sketchpad and started to draw quickly.

"Artists," Mordred teased.

Vortigern raised an eyebrow at him slightly, before returning his concentration to his sketchpad.

Gwen

Gwen yawned slightly. "I don't think I'll drink tonight."

Merry and Pippin both stared at her in disbelief.

"I'm tired give me a break," she protested.

Mordred and Vortigern

"Mmmm..." Mordred said, smiling slightly.

Vortigern reached over and slapped him lightly over the back of the head with his sketchpad.

"What was that for?" Mordred protested, rubbing the back of his head.

"You were being an idiot," Vortigern said, opening his book again.

Gwen

"But we all slept in this morning!" Pippin said, looking at her expectantly.

"Hmmm, well, there wasn't too much sleeping in our room," Gwen commented, leaning her head on Mordred's shoulder.

Spike, Vortigern and Mordred

Spike chuckled softly and looked at Vortigern. The blond diligently kept his eyes on his work, a faint blush creeping up the back of his neck.

"You know..." Mordred observed. "Even when he was with Tav, he didn't blush this much."

"Must be a gift," Spike said.

Gwen

"Or maybe you guys are a lot more depraved together," Gwen commented, then giggled. "Or it could be my fault, what with the linkage."

To emphasize her point, she ran a hand over Mordred's crotch.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred closed his eyes, and Vortigern's pencil swerved across the page.

"Thanks ever so much, Gwen," Vortigern said dryly.

He started to repair the damage.

Gwen

Gwen giggled.

"Sorry about that."

She rubbed Mordred's crotch again, looking innocent.

Vortigern and Mordred

Vortigern glared at her.

"No you're not."

Mordred leant over to whisper in her ear.

"Love, as much as I'm enjoying this, we're a bit public..."

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"No, I'm not."

She pulled her hands away from Mordred and pouted slightly.

"Yes, public sex is bad... isn't it?"

Mordred and Vortigern

"Here, it is," Mordred said.

"And other places...it isn't."

He grinned at her.

"Oh, very well said," Vortigern said dryly.

"I thought so," Mordred said, smiling.

Gwen

Gwen grinned back and leaned her head on Mordred's shoulder.

"Hmm, well maybe I should stop teasing you then," she said, then shook her head. "Nope, never gonna happen."

Mordred, Spike and Vortigern

"I know," Mordred said, dropping a kiss on her cheek.

"Good," Spike said, smiling slightly.

Vortigern gave him a fond yet annoyed glance.

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"Hmmm, what if I did stop teasing Mordred... or stopped sleeping with him as well?"

Spike and Mordred

Spike looked at her.

"I don't *need* your help. The wolf would be the only one with blue balls."

Mordred shook his head slightly.

"You wouldn't do that, would you, angel?"

Gwen

Gwen smiled. "I wasn't implying you needed my help... I'd just like to know what would happen to Mordred and how insane I could actually make him."

She turned to Mordred, an evil glint in her eye.

Mordred and Spike

Mordred looked a bit scared.

"Oh, c'mon, love..."

Spike snickered.

Gwen

"Yes, Mordred?"

Gwen leaned her chin on her hand, smiling sweetly at him before getting up and sitting on the other side of the table.

Mordred

Mordred sighed slightly.

"I *knew* I should've taken that elf in Rivendell up on her offer..."

Merry and Pippin snickered softly.

Gwen

Gwen raised an eyebrow.

"Oh we wanna play that game, do we?"

She stood up and walked over to a table full of men and sat down.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred started to bang his head lightly against the table.

"Next time I look like I'm about to say something that stupid, someone please stop me."

"Think before you open that mouth," Vortigern advised.

"Great advice after the fact."

Gwen

Gwen came back moments later with a pint.

"See, you be nice to people and they buy you drinks."

She sat down across from Mordred, looking cheeky.

Merry and Pippin looked wistfully at the drink.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred gave her a look, then devoted his attention to his drink.

"We going to get some lunch?" Merry asked.

"I'm hungry!"

"When aren't you hungry?" Vortigern asked.

"What sort of a silly question is that?"

Gwen

"Yeah, I'm pretty hungry too..."

Gwen lifted her foot, slipped her shoe off and rubbed Mordred's crotch under the table.

"Great!" Merry said.

He and Pippin got up to order the food.

Mordred, Vortigern and Faolan

Mordred bit his lip and spread his knees apart slightly.

Vortigern gave Gwen a stern look and then put his sketchpad away.

Merry and Pippin turned up again, bearing bowls of some sort of stew and loaves of bread.

"Food!" Faolan said, bouncing slightly.

Gwen

Gwen smiled innocently, and had a spoonful of the stew.

"So, how long do you spose we'll be here?" she asked, her foot still rubbing.

Mordred, Vortigern and Spike

"A while at least," Vortigern said, starting to eat from his plate.

"Aragorn and Arwen deserve some catch up time," Spike drawled.

"Well, he's been away for a while," Merry pointed out.

"That's true." Mordred didn't trust his voice to say anything more so he started to eat.

Gwen

Gwen nodded and kept her foot in Mordred's lap, her rubbing slowing down slightly.

"When do you spose we'll have to go back to New York?" she asked.

Vortigern and Spike

"Time passes quicker here," Vortigern reminded her.

"I don't think it'dve actually been that long," Spike said thoughtfully.

Vortigern fed Faolan some of the stew.

Gwen

"Probably not," Gwen said, thinking for a moment.

"Are you that eager to leave us?" Frodo asked.

"Never, dear hobbit, never," Gwen said, smiling at him.

Vortigern and Mordred

"Middle Earth is nice..." Vortigern said thoughtfully.

"But..."

"It's not home," Mordred finished for his twin.

Gwen

Gwen nodded her agreement, then rubbed Mordred harder again.

"Plus we have that brand spanking new house to go home too."

She rolled her eyes.

"Ugh, moving."

Mordred

"You're the one with all the stuff, love," Mordred said, pupils dilating.

"And aren't you lucky to have a 'porter for a husband?"

Gwen

"Very lucky."

Gwen thought for a second.

"I have all the stuff? Oh... I spose... hardly my fault. I was living quite nicely and independently."

Mordred and Vortigern

"And you know, have no money." Mordred shrugged slightly.

"Vortigern's more likely to have money then me."

"Mmmmmmm..." Vortigern said non-commitedly.

"Oh, come off it, Vort. You're going to make a fortune when those paintings of yours start to sell, and you know it."

Gwen

"You will, you know," Gwen agreed. "But Mordred's going to have to get himself a job."

She grinned as she slowed the rubbing down.

"I just have to get work in New York... which won't be... hard."

Mordred and Spike

"Yeah, but what? Killing people, not usually something our world encourages," Mordred said dryly.

"You could always join Gwen's business," Spike suggested.

Gwen

"Worst case scenario, I lose my job, and I end up being a hooker, you could always pimp me out," Gwen grinned.

Mordred

"I couldn't do that..."

Mordred leant over the table to kiss her.

"Couldn't stand the thought of anyone else touching you."

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back.

"And I wouldn't want anyone else touching me."

Merry smiled. "Well isn't that nice."

"What?"

"They're so in love."

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred chuckled slightly as he leant back.

"Yes, isn't it sweet? Awwwwww," Vortigern said.

"Like you and Spike are any better."

Gwen

"That's true, you and Spike are pretty sickly sweet," Gwen said, grinning, as her foot wandered back into Mordred's lap.

They finished their meal, and Gwen looked around the tavern.

"Right, we're going for a walk, we haven't done nearly enough of that."

Vortigern

"Toning down on the PDA's now we're not with the elves though," Vortigern said, standing.

"Elves...pretty understanding and not caring about gender. Thinking that could maybe be a problem here."

Legolas nodded slightly.

"The race of Men is not known for their tolerance..."

Gwen

Gwen nodded, going to lift Eavan, but Sam beat her too it, putting her in the makeshift backpack carrier. Frodo carried Bryant in the same way.

"Thanks guys."

"Pleasure," Sam said, smiling.

They left the tavern.

Mordred and Faolan

"See, aren't they useful?" Mordred said, wrapping an arm around Gwen's waist.

"People always want to take care of our babies..."

Faolan curled his small fingers into Mordred's free hand, looking around solemnly.

Gwen

"It's because our babies are wonderful."

Gwen leaned into Mordred's arms as they walked along, through the city.

Mordred and Vortigern

"Much like their parents being the inference we should make," Vortigern said arching an eyebrow.

"Well, yeah."

Mordred grinned at his twin.

Gwen

Gwen nodded.

"Yep!"

She took Mordred's hand.

Mordred and Vortigern

They walked through Gondor slowly, looking around them.

"I say we spend a while here...since I doubt we're going to drag Vortigern away for a month or more," Mordred said.

Vortigern turned and poked his tongue out at his twin.

"Then we should go up to Rohan."

"The Horselords," Pippin said.

"And say hello to Treebeard!"

Gwen

"Well, we have that dance on the 30th," Gwen commented.

She grinned.

"And my birthday on the 2nd."

Mordred, Spike and Vortigern

"I'm sure we have plenty of time," Mordred said, kissing her cheek.

"Yeah," Spike drawled, looking around.

"What happened to this place? It in a war or something?"

"Or something," Vortigern said dryly.

"Try evil demonic being trying to take over the world and nearly suceeding."

"What, this place has them too? Bloody hell."

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"One ring to rule them all..." she began.

"One ring to find them," Pippin chimed in.

"One ring to bring them all," Merry said.

"And in the darkness bind them," Gwen finished.

Vortigern

"Except Frodo stopped it, so yay Frodo," Vortigern said.

Frodo looked uncomfortable.

"It was nothing..."

Gwen

"Don't be so modest, Frodo, you saved Middle Earth," Gwen said, smiling at him.

"Yes, Mr Frodo," Sam chimed in.

Spike and Mordred

Frodo resisted the urge to scuff his foot against the ground.

"It had to be done. So I did." And very nearly didn't, he added silently to himself.

"Modesty...why can't the Summers be modest when they save the world?" Spike asked.

"Because they're self rghteous moralistic bitches?" MOrdred answered.

Gwen

Gwen nodded.

"Yup, I bet Dawn is even faking her coma to get attention."

She laughed.

"Jokes on her, no one cares."

Mordred, Spike and Vortigern

"Wonder if she's woken up yet," Mordred mused.

Spike looked uncomfortable.

"I used to like lil' bit...but I don't know. She's turned into such a bitch lately..."

Vortigern patted his shoulder.

"Frankly, the Summers as a family spew so much crap, it's a wonder you lasted as long as you did."

Gwen

"That's very true," Gwen agreed, squeezing Mordred's hand as they walked on.

They walked on for a bit as the night wore on.

Legolas and Pippin

"Legolas?" A surprised voice came out of the darkness.

"And the hobbits as well?"

"Faramir," Legolas said in recognition as a man clad in armour and fur, carrying a helmet under his arm walked up to them.

"I've been on patrol...when did you arrive?"

"Just today, actually," Pippin said.

Gwen

Introductions were made, with Faramir looking a little amazed at the dimension hopping explanation.

Aragorn and Arwen walked up, hand in hand.

"Hey," Gwen greeted.

More introductions were made.

Spike and Vortigern

"So, you're from another world...how fascinating," Arwen said in her melodic voice.

"Yeah..." Spike shifted slightly from one foot yto another, looking around and frowning faintly.

"Trouble?" Vortigern asked him quietly.

"Just a feeling..."

Gwen

Gwen shivered slightly and leaned into Mordred. "Bit cold."

Legolas looked around quickly, hands poised to grab his bow.

Mordred, Vortigern, Spike and Faolan

Mordred nodded slightly.

"Should we head back to the castle?"

"Yes, it is getting dark," Aragorn agreed.

The group slowly started to walk back. Faolan clutched at Mordred's hand, eyes darting around as his superior nightvision took in the buildings around them.

Spike frowned again as he looked around, eyes gleaming yellow for a moment.

"Just nerves?" Vortigern asked his lover softly.

"I hope so..." Spike bit his lip.

The vampire cried out in warning before he moved to take Aragorn to the ground. An arrow whizzed through the space the man had been standing in.

"Ya alright?" Spike asked as he sat up.

"I'm fine. Thank you, Spike." Aragorn crouched on the ground.

Gwen

Legolas swiftly shot an arrow in the direction of the other and almost smiled as he heard the scream. He'd hit the target.

"Me thinks we should go quickly. Frodo, Sam, go ahead, stay out of sight," Gwen instructed.

Frodo nodded. "Come on Sam." He and Sam darted into the shadows.

Faolan, Mordred, Spike and Vortigern

Faolan shifted, then darted into the shadows.

"I'll see you back up at the castle."

"Don't get caught."

"I'm my mother's son. I won't."

Mordred's hand went to the hilt of his sword.

Spike's face melted into the ridges of his demon.

Arwen and Faramir drew back slightly as the vampire raised his head, scenting the air.

"I can smell blood."

"You can always smell the blood," Vortigern said dryly as they started to move towards the palace, senses alert.

Gwen

Merry and Pippin drew their swords, looking rather frightened but trying to pretend they weren't.

"Why do we keep leaving The Shire, Merry?" Pippin whispered.

"I don't know," Merry replied.

Gwen was taking the fact that they hadn't heard Sam or Frodo shouting, that they were safe, and that meant Eavan and Bryant were too. She touched her dagger as though reassuring herself.

Vortigern, Mordred and Spike

Vortigern drew his katana, brown eyes watchful.

"You fight with two swords?" Faramir asked.

"Yes."

The telepaths's minds roamed outwards, eyes going unfocused.

"Suggest you take Faramir to go get the man Legolas shot. He's still alive," Mordred said in a distant voice to Spike.

"Rightio. Come on then."

Spike walked quickly away, Faramir looking at Aragorn for confirmation before following.

Mordred's eyes started to flicker yellow.

Gwen

Aragorn nodded and drew his sword as Faramir followed Spike.

"SAM!" Frodo's panicked voice screamed.

"MR FRODO!" came Sam's voice.

Gwen's heart almost stopped. She pulled her dagger out and ran in the direction of the voices, her free hand charging into electricity.

Her babies...

Mordred, Vortigern and Faolan

Mordred howled, then dropped forward, sword clattering to the ground. He took off, four feet striking the cobblestones rapidly.

"Aiya!" Arwen exclaimed. (Oh!)

Vortigern took off running after his twin, flares of light sprouting from his shoulderblades. He hissed slightly with the burning pain.

"Mordred!"

The wolf ran past Gwen, snarling as he caught up to the two hobbits.

Sam held Frodo, his face white with shock. Frodo was wounded, and the babies were nowhere to be seen.

"DA!" Faolan's terrified voice entered Mordred's mind and the wolf howled in indescision.

Gwen

Gwen caught up to Mordred and the hobbits, and she squeezed her dagger's handle tightly, her knuckles going white.

"Sam, what happened?"

"We didn't see anyone, and then Mr Frodo, he cried out..." Sam was holding his hand over Frodo's wound. "It's ok, Mr Frodo."

"But where are Eavan and Bryant?" she demanded.

"I don't know," Sam replied.

"MAMA! DA!" Eavan and Bryant screamed together.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred's head swung between two directions and he whined slightly.

"I'll go for Fao, you go for the twins," Vortigern told his twin.

Relieved, the wolf shot off.

Vortigern's wings shone as he bent his knees slightly, then jumped into the air. He started running over the rooftops lightly.

Gwen

Gwen focused for a second, then turned her body to electricty, and floated in the air, speeding after Mordred.

Merry and Pippin ran over to Sam and Frodo and helped Frodo up, all three hobbits helping to carry him to the castle.

Spike and Mordred

Spike helped Faramir make arrangements to transport the would be assassin up to the castle, then easily vaulted to the rooftops and started after his lover.

Legolas followed Mordred and Gwen at a run.

Aragorn and Arwen went up to the castle quickly.

Mordred howled, then dodged to the side as an arrow struck the stones at his feet.

Gwen

Gwen turned back to human, unable to stay in electricity form, and ducked down low, relying on everything she'd taught herself to keep her out of sight.

"MAMA! DA!" Eavan and Bryant screamed again.

Gwen flipped herself over an obstacle in her path, silently thanking Legolas for killing the things in front of her.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred's chilling snarl echoed through the streets as he hunted his children and those who had dared taken them.

Vortigern leapt to the ground lightly in front of a man who was holding a squirming sack.

"Going somewhere?"

His katanas glinted in the moonlight, before he attacked in a whirlwind of motion.

Gwen

Gwen hissed as an arrow hit her shoulder. She pulled it out and turned to electricity again, bouncing forward and killing the thing that had shot her.

Legolas was right behind, shooting accurately.

Mordred

Mordred growled in disgust at the scent he was following.

Death and decay, and twisted life...

He bounded ahead and then finally got to rip something's throat out. He nearly threw up at the vile black liquid that passed for blood in the being's throat.

"Orcs!" Legolas said.

He flipped the body over with the end of his bow as Mordred raced ahead again. A white handprint stood out starkly on its chest.

"A Uruk'Hai.."

Gwen

Gwen flipped back to human form and winced at the wound in her arm. Legolas threw her a sword and she took off, expertly slicing through the Urak'Hai and orcs.

Mordred, Vortigern and Faolan

Mordred hunted through the streets, then the scent died.

He threw back his head and wailed.

Overhead, black wings darkened the moon for a moment.

Vortigern looked up as his katana sliced through the man's throat.

Faolan wriggled out of the bag and looked upwards as well.

"They fly towards the Mirkwoods..."

Gwen

Legolas caught up to Gwen and touched her shoulder. She hissed.

"Come on, there's no more that can be done this night," he said softly.

She nodded and closed her eyes in pain.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred's terrible howling ripped through the night as he wailed his loss and fury.

"Go. Fly."

Vortigern nodded at Faolan's statement and leapt upwards.

Soon he was speeding towards the flying beast that had his nephew and neice on its back.

Gwen

Legolas went around to Gwen's good side and supported her weight as he led her back to the castle. He sniffed.

"Get down!" he cried, pushing her down.

But it was too late, an arrow hit her in the stomach, missing her vitals, but still causing a lot of pain. She fell to her knees.

"Gwen, come on," Legolas said, lifting her up and running back for the castle.

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred whirled and ran after them.

He would find out who had hurt his Mate and stolen his Pups, and they would pay. Oh, they would pay.

Vortigern drove his sword into the side of the...dragon? Large, scaled with wings. Close enough to a dragon for him.

A wing buffeted him away and he went into a downward spin.

Gwen

Legolas reached the castle moments later.

"Aragorn," he called.

Aragorn appeared and beckoned for him to come up the stairs. "Up here. The little ones are here too."

Legolas ran up the stairs, and into the room, laying Gwen gently on the bed.

Gwen looked at him with tear filled eyes. "They're gone..."

Vortigern, Spike and Mordred

Vortigern fluttered tiredly as he managed to dodge a roof.

Spike caught his lover as the wings guttered, then disappeared.

He started running for the castle, blood dripping onto the ground behind him.

Mordred snarled at Arwen, dodging around her to follow Gwen. He laid his muzzle on the coverlet and whined slightly, yellow flecked blue eyes watching her.

Gwen

Gwen weakly raised her hand and lay it on top of Mordred's head.

"Gone..." she whispered.

A man walked in, and moved to attend to Gwen's wounds, looking slightly unnerved at Mordred.

Mordred and Faolan

Mordred licked her hand comfortingly.

Faolan slid around Aragorn's legs, limping slightly. He shifted upwards into his human form, blood running from his foot.

"Uncle Vort is hurt. Spike is bringing him now."

Mordred sighed slightly, already feeling the wound opening on his side.

Gwen

Gwen closed her eyes and let the man clean and bandage her wounds, tears leaking from her closed eyelids.

Merry and Pippin stood awkwardly watching.

Spike, Vortigern and Mordred

Spike entered, Vortigern pale and white in his arms as blood ran down his wrists.

"Help. Now," the vampire snarled, face ridged and eyes burning yellow.

He could hear Vortigern's heart starting to miss beats.

Mordred stood and padded over to the vampire. He touched Vortigern's wrist with his nose, and the soft glow covered both of them.

The fanged angel appeared again, blinking slightly.

"I don't have much time. She took the children. She tried for Faolan as well, but we did manage to stop that. Ashtoreth. Seek the burning flames."

The glow shone outwards, then both Mordred and Vortigern fell to the floor.

Spike picked up Vortigern and put him on a bed. The healer finished bandaging Gwen's wounds and moved towards Spike and Vortigern hesitantly.

Gwen

"No..." Gwen whispered. Legolas put a hand over her forehead.

"Sleep now," he whispered.

"But I..."

"Shhh," he soothed.

Gwen's eyes slid closed, and Legolas moved to lift Mordred up, placing him on a bed.

Mordred and Spike

Mordred opened his eyes blearily, then relaxed.

"Have t' find them..." he mumbled.

"We will," Legolas said as he helped the teen into a bed. Mordred's eyes closed again as he hit the pillow.

Spike watched the healer like a hawk, Vortigern's breathing uneven and rapid.

Sam and Legolas

"We're very sorry," Sam said quietly. "That we could not stop them."

"Shh, it does not do to dwell upon it," Legolas said calmly, patting Sam's head.

Spike

"You did all you could," Spike said, watching his lover.

"Should've come with you..."

"You were needed to find the one who shot at me," Aragorn said firmly.

"He's down in your dungeons, Faramir was arranging that," the vampire told the king.

Aragorn and Legolas

"Rest now, we will hunt orc in the morning," Aragorn said.

Legolas nodded and shooed the unwounded hobbits from the room.

Spike and Faolan

Spike raised his scarred eyebrow at the healer as he attempted to do the same to the vampire.

"You got another bloody think coming if you think I'm leaving, mate."

The healer gulped and backed off.

Faolan sat quietly near his father's bedside.

"Help the kid, why don'tcha?" Spike said finally, smelling the blood.

The healer nodded and went to help the kitten.

"What happened?"

"I was running, and then my paw caught in a trap near the palace," Faolan said.

"It was set for me. They knew I would run that way..."

Gwen

Gwen opened her eyes and sat up. There was no way she was going to sleep tonight.

She winced as she stood, shakily walking to Mordred's bedside and running her hand through his hair gently.

Faolan

Faolan's eyes glowed slightly as the healer bandaged his foot.

"He'll be alright."

Gwen

Gwen smiled weakly at Faolan, and leaned down, wincing slightly and kissing Mordred's head.

Aragorn touched her head. "I will see that a bed is fixed for you..." he said, beckoning to one of his men. The man nodded and pushed a bed next to Mordred's.

"Thank you," Gwen said quietly.

Aragorn took her hand and helped her lay down.

She reached for Mordred's hand sleepily and entwined their fingers, drifting off to sleep.
