19 November 2003 - Pushed past the edge of reason

Tegan and Nessa

Nathan and Lleywns

Nathan writhed, hands pressed to his forehead as visions danced through his head. It hurt. He moaned slightly.

After they'd faded he got up, mind further stressed and wanting now to just lash out and hurt someone like he was hurting. And he was in agony. He chewed a handful of headache tablets and swallowed them, making a bit of a face at the bitter taste. He unwrapped his ruined eye sockets, feeling the cloth peel away. It itched, and it blocked his sight. Well, it wasn't physical sight. Just his talent now.

Then he went out to cause trouble.

Nathan cracked his knuckles as he leant against the door of the caf, scars on his cheek thrown into high relief as for once he didn't make any effort to hide them. Dazed and sick like a dog with rabies, he only wanted to bite and bite hard. Words were all he had left.

"There once was a family, a happy family. And then a speeding snarling car hit the father and it collapsed."

Mordred stiffened slightly and Vortigern whitened. A tear slipped down Mary's cheek.

"There was a wolf and an angel. Demon to soul combined. Brute strength to mind. Two halves of the same coin, and never never could they exist without the other. But the wolf found a mate, and the angel did too. A demon with a soul for the angel. And a lightening strike for the wolf. But then the cat came and burnt it all away..."

"Shut up," Mordred whispered.

Nathan laughed, and grinned evilly.

"And the lightening cut and cut and bled and bled...while the wolf suffered all alone and drew the angel into his torment. But oh, they fixed that all up, they did. But will the lightening stay? The woods call so prettily of freedom and light. Why should she stay, when the elves call her away? Or should I say, elf? Or is it the ice that will seperate the wolf from the lightening and leave him alone, alone?"

Gwen

"FOR THE SHIRE!" Pippin cried as he pounced on Gwen, knocking her to the ground, the arrow she'd been holding tossed into the air and flew through the window again, breaking in.

"Whoops," Gwen commented, before Merry leapt on top of Pippin and Gwen, giggling giddily.

Aragorn watched in amusement as she struggled to stand. Legolas helped her up and the hobbits looked playfully unimpressed.

"Come on guys, I'm sure dinner's ready," Gwen said.

"Dinner?" Pippin smiled broadly, as Gwen, Legolas and Aragorn headed into the caf.

Pippin and Merry looked at each other and grinned cheekily, then pounced, holding onto Gwen's legs as she walked, so she was dragging them into the caf.

She coughed and looked at her feet as they stepped into the caf.

"I seem to have grown a pair of hobbits," she commented.

Nathan and Llewyns

Nathan turned slightly to look at her as Mordred stood. Vortigern was comforting Mary as she wept in his arms.

"Ah, so the lightening enters? Tell me, Green Leaf, how were the days in Lorien?"

Legolas frowned slightly, not understanding the basis behind the questions.

"They were pleasant..."

"Pleasanter spent in the company of the lightening?" Nathan skipped backwards lightly as Mordred took a step forward, eyes darkening with rage.

"So, lightening, how was the elf?"

"I'm going to F*CKING kill you, you son of a bitch!"

Nathan laughed, high and crazy, before he dodged Mordred's punch, clairvoyance warning him of where the teen was going.

"Hurts, doesn't it? Jealousy clawing at your insides like a beast. You love her, love her and every day you wonder if you're going to LOSE HER!"

Nathan ducked and rolled before coming up again.

"LOSE HER! ALWAYS! Howl, wolf, HOWL!"

Nathan gripped Mordred's shirt for a moment, sightless eye sockets staring.

"YOU WON'T KEEP HER!"

Gwen

Aragorn's hands went to the hilt of his sword, as Legolas pulled an arrow from his back. Gwen put her arms out to stop them and walked slowly into the caf.

"What's going on?" Pippin asked quietly, as he and Merry got to their feet.

"It's ok," Gwen said softly, touching their heads lightly. She frowned as she stepped closer to the scene. "Nathan, calm down, I think you should leave."

Aragorn's hand tightened around his sword, and Gwen turned to look at him, her eyes pleading with him not to draw. He complied, but none the less, his hand remained in it's position. Legolas nodded at her and she thanked him telepathically.

Nathan and Mordred

Nathan gasped for breath, head swinging to regard her before Mordred punched him.

The insane mutant went flying into an empty table, sliding along it before falling to the ground in a limp heap. He picked himself up again, and laughed.

Mordred started toward him, murder shining in his blue eyes.

"Ssssooo..." Nathan hissed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth before he spat red onto the floor. "Such an answer for everything, isn't it, Wolf? How does it feel to have the blood of a child on your hands?"

Mordred stopped dead in his tracks.

"Such a little thing..." Nathan's voice died away as one hand went to the side of his head. He wavered slightly on his feet.

"How did it feel, Wolf? When you drew the knife across her throat and the blood flowed over your hands...and then she disappeared. Like she had never been."

"Stop it."

"Ahhh. You see, that's the thing. I can't."

Gwen

Gwen's hands flew to her neck, then she took a deep breath and walked over to Mordred, laying a calming hand on his shoulder.

"There wasn't a choice," she said softly.

Nathan and Mordred

Nathan giggled.

"Oh, but you see, that's the thing. He wonders if maybe he could have found another way. And he hates himself because he has your blood on his hands...metaphorically speaking..."

Mordred breathed deeply, shuddering with emotional pain.

"Stop."

"Can't, can't, can't. I can't help what I See."

Nathan spun and eyed Frodo.

"It's calling to you. Even though it's been destroyed, it's calling to you."

Frodo cradled the hand where Gollum had bitten the finger from it in order to get the Ring, before the misshapen creature had fallen into the fires of Mount Doom, clutching the Ring. He stared at Nathan and his breath started to come in frightened gasps.

"Precccccioussssss, my precioussss, my only...it came to me on my birthday..." Nathan tilted his head, then coughed hard, shudders wracking his thin frame as blood speckled his lips.

"You aren't meant to be here," he half sung, staring at the Fellowship.

"You fit here wrongly...even you, sir Elf. And the old man has been here before, haven't you? But that is of no account. What you're calling here is more worrisome."

Gwen

Aragorn put his hand on Frodo's shoulder, as the hobbit starting shaking.

Gwen took Mordred's hand and squeezed it gently. It's ok, it's ok, it's ok, she told herself.

"Nathan, I think you should go. Or need we call the professor?"

Nathan, Chelsea and Mordred

Nathan shook his head, starting to pant.

"You don't understand, you don't..."

"Nathan!" Chelsea ran in, going to her teacher, before he slowly crumpled onto the floor.

"I don't want to know, I don't want to know, I don't want to know..." he moaned.

Mordred put his arm around Gwen's waist and slowly stepped back.

"Fire and flames, it's all burning, all burning..." Nathan's head flashed up, and then he snarled at Brand.

"And it's all your fault, little Key."

Gwen

Gwen rubbed Mordred's back soothingly as they stepped away from Nathan.

Legolas started to put the arrow into the bow, but a look from Gwen and he stopped, his face determined as Frodo whimpered slightly.

Chelsea, Octavian and Nathan

Chelsea tried to soothe Nathan, but the insane Seer stood, staring at Legolas with scarred pits where his eyes should be. Slowly, he spread his arms wide as if he was crucified.

"I invite you to. So long this life has been...I'm tired. So very very tired of Seeing everything. I see it all. And all I see is death upon death upon death upon death..."

"Nate!" Chelsea exclaimed.

"Step down, little red." He looked down at her, lips twisting in a sort of smile. "They're mostly out of my Sight. What the future holds for them is twisted and uncertain...but they're playing havoc with time here."

He looked back at Legolas, head tilted slightly to the side.

"Ok..." Octavian stopped as he stood at the door. "We have a Mexican standoff."

"Oh, look. You haven't done what I told you to, Feral Fey. But neither has Chamber, so there you are."

Gwen

Legolas tensed slightly, Aragorn raising his other hand and putting it on his bow, pushing it down firmly, but gently.

"Are you done?" Gwen asked Nathan.

Nathan, Chelsea and Mordred

Nathan smiled a twisted smile.

"You don't see straightly..."

Chelsea tugged his arm down gently and he pressed an affectionate kiss to her forehead softly.

"Nathan..."

"Trying so hard to keep me to the straight and narrow, little red. You of all people should see."

"Come on...you're bleeding." The red haired girl got a tissue out of her pocket and wiped the blood from his lips. "Coughing again?"

"Bit of that, bit of the Wolf punching me in the mouth. But I did deserve it."

"Damn straight ya did," Mordred snarled.

Nathan turned his head to look at him.

"You're just a boy playing with things you don't understand. Grow up. I'm insane, what's your excuse?"

Chelsea darted a look at the people staring at them and stood defensively in front of her mentor.

Gwen

Gwen rubbed Mordred's back again.

"It's ok, love," she said softly.

She eyed Nathan angrily.

"You should go."

Nathan, Chelsea and Mordred

Nathan put a hand to his head wearily, suddenly so tired he could barely keep standing.

"I should, but I can't. Things to do..."

His hands suddenly flickered with cards, fanning out between his fingers, before he recut the pack.

"You saw Galadriel's pool. Is it so hard to believe that what I See might be true? I might be broken, but the truth is there..."

Chelsea bit her lip so hard she broke the skin and tasted blood.

"So, you have the right to screw around with everyone, just because of what you are?" Mordred demanded.

"Haven't you ever hurt so badly all you wanted was for someone to bleed like you were?"

Gwen

"What do you see?" Gwen asked, her chest tightening in fear for the death he had spoken of.

Nathan, Mordred and Chelsea

"Death..." Nathan shook his head hard for a moment.

"Whose?" Mordred demanded, holding onto Gwen tightly.

"I see flames. Fire and death and devastation...the stench of burning flesh in my nostrils and high laughter over it all. She's laughing." He clawed a hand down the side of his face, blunt fingernails drawing blood.

Chelsea caught his hand before he could do any further damage.

"She's coming. And another...fallen from grace yet again, how sad. She took my eyes. And this time..."

Nathan suddenly dropped to the floor, arching his back and screaming.

"NATHAN!" Chelsea knelt beside him as he writhed, hands pressed to the side of his head.

Gwen

"Should we take him to the medlabs?" Gwen asked, her voice shaking slightly.

She leaned into Mordred, squeezing his hand.

Aragorn and Legolas both raised their weapons cautiously.

"Please don't," Gwen pleaded softly.

Nathan, Mordred and Chelsea

"Stop it, no, I don't want to see it," Nathan pleaded brokenly.

"I have absolutely no idea," Mordred said, staring in horror.

"I can't even reach into his mind...it's fractured."

"No. No."

Nathan stood and then fled to the outside, clairvoyance and talent carrying him agilely past anyone who reached out a hand to stop him. He cried out again, sounding like a wounded animal.

Chelsea ran after him.

Gwen

"That was..." Gwen stared after them. "Perhaps we should tell the professor?"

She shivered slightly.

Llewyns

"Yeah..." Mordred nodded, more then slightly shaken by what Nathan had said.

"Exciting days," Vortigern said dryly as he cuddled Mary, who had finally stopped crying.

"You all right, Mary?" Mordred asked her.

She nodded and wiped a hand across her eyes.

Gwen

Gwen took Mordred's hand and squeezed it reassuringly.

"Hey, we're ok, that's what counts, right?"

Mordred

"Yeah."

Mordred bent his head and kissed her lips gently.

He was more then slightly terrified now. Nathan had seen true before about Cain. What if he was right about Gwen?

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back, putting her arms around his neck.

"I should have a shower, I smell like the pool."

She raised an eyebrow at Mordred.

"Care to join me?" she asked coyly.

Mordred

Mordred smiled.

"Sure, why not?"

He looked around for their children, but they were both fine in their stroller.

"Who should we burden the children with?" He breathed into her ear, nipping the lobe lightly between his teeth.

Gwen and Rebekah

"Bek?" Gwen said.

Rebekah smiled. "Yes, I will mind the children."

"Thanks, darling," she replied, then took Mordred's hand and half dragged him from the room.

Mordred

Mordred nuzzled her neck, then 'ported them both to their room with a thought.

He turned and locked the door behind them, before grinning at Gwen.

"Don't we have nice friends?"

Gwen

"Yup," Gwen agreed.

She leaned in and kissed him, her hands drawing lazily circles over his back.

Mordred

Mordred kissed her back hard, feeling like he was about to lose her to forces beyond his control.

That scared him immensely.

"I love you."

Gwen

"And I love you, my darling," Gwen said quietly.

She breathed light kisses down his neck.

Mordred

"Always and forever."

Mordred let his hands slip to her pants as he kissed her frantically.

"Promise me, Gwen."

Gwen

"I will love you always and forever, I promise," Gwen whispered, one hand going under his shirt and flicking his nipple rings, the other unzipping his fly.

Mordred

Mordred toed his combat boots off as he drew her pants and knickers down over her hips.

"Don't leave me."

He kissed her again, as if proving to himself she was still there.

Gwen

Gwen stepped out of her clothes.

"I'll never leave you, not while I have control of my mind," she said breathlessly, while sliding his pants down over his legs.

She kissed him back, while her hands helped him take his shirt off.

Mordred

Mordred ran his hands down her body, before taking her shirt off. He kissed the hollow between her breasts as he undid the clasp of her bra.

"I'll hold you to that."

He took one of her nipples into his mouth and sucked lightly.

Gwen

Gwen moaned softly, one hand reaching down to stroke his length.

"Good."

Using her free hand, she lifted his head to meet her mouth in another long kiss.

Mordred

Mordred kissed her back as they fell onto the bed.

"I love you. Always."

He sucked at the dip between her neck and her shoulder, raising a hickey as his thumbs circled over her nipples.

Gwen

"I love you," Gwen replied softly. "Always."

She whimpered slightly.

"No more playing."

Mordred

"No."

Mordred kissed her deeply as he slowly slid inside her.

"I love you. Never forget that. I will always love you."

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back, their tongues silently duelling inside their mouths.

"I love you too, always remember that, even if you can remember nothing else."

Mordred

"Always."

Mordred kissed her hungrily as his hips moved slowly.

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back, her hips thrusting up in time to meet his.

"Mine," she whispered.

Mordred

"Yours, always," Mordred agreed.

He slid a hand down between them to rub her lightly, rolling her stud slightly between his fingertips.

Gwen

"Oh God," Gwen groaned.

How had she lasted eight months without him?

Mordred

Mordred kept up his steady movements as he kissed her.

"I love you."

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back, her hips bucking up slightly.

"I love you back."

She shuddered as she came.

Mordred

Mordred moaned as she tightened around him and came, dropping down silghtly onto his hands. But carefully so he didn't hurt her.

He kissed at her neck lazily.

"Mo cariad..."

Gwen

"Amin liy," Gwen breathed.

She ran her hands over his back.

Mordred

Mordred licked at her breasts, placing light biting kisses on them.

"Don't leave me. Ever. I think I would die."

Gwen

"I will not, not while my mind is my own," Gwen replied softly.

She moaned.

"But you must promise not to leave me."

Mordred

"Never."

Mordred licked around her nipple, tongue stud dragging lightly.

"I'm yours. You're mine. We won't leave."

Gwen

Gwen moaned.

"Always yours..."

Her hand reached down to stroke him gently.

Mordred

Mordred kissed her gently as he started to move.

"I love you."

He nipped faintly at her lower lip.

Gwen

"And I love you."

Gwen closed her eyes in contentment.

Mordred

Mordred thrust into her with increasing force.

"Gwen, angel, I love you..."

Gwen

Gwen's hips bucked up slightly.

"I love you, my wolf."

She pulled his mouth down for a lingering kiss.

Mordred

"Yours," Mordred agreed throatily.

"But not tamed. Grr."

He bit down on the curve of her shoulder, leaving teethmarks behind before kissing them away.

Gwen

"I'll fix that, when you least expect it," Gwen teased.

Her muscles clenched as she came again.

"Ohhhh God."

Mordred

"Mmmm. Maybe."

Mordred kissed her, slowly going out of his mind as he kept control.

"Or maybe I'll tame you."

Gwen

"Me?"

Gwen smiled and kissed him back.

"You already have me tamed, my love."

Mordred

"Do I?"

Mordred kissed her again as he moved inside her slowly.

"You're not the one wearing a collar, mo cariad."

Gwen

"That's a good point."

Gwen licked at his lips, nipping lightly.

"Maybe I'm not so tamed after all."

Mordred

"Beautiful...so very beautiful..."

Mordred kissed her shoulder as he moved in and out of her.

"I love you."

Gwen

Gwen smiled up at him.

"I love you too."

Her body tensed as she came again.

Mordred

Mordred came with her, and he kissed her lovingly before he rolled over onto his side.

"Don't change your mind on that."

He pulled her in against his chest and kissed her again.

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back, breathing heavily.

"I'll never change my mind."

She yawned slightly.

Mordred

"Should we go get the twins from Bec?" Mordred asked, hand drawing patterns lightly over her stomach.

"Or I can get them. You can stay here."

Gwen

"No I can go with you..."

Gwen sat up then lay back down.

"Or maybe I can stay here."

She yawned.

"They'll need to be changed soon probably."

Mordred

Mordred got up and put some clothes on.

"Yeah. You just lie back and rest. I have done this before, you know. One of those things about being the eldest."

He bent and kissed her forehead, before leaving to go get the twins from Bec.

Gwen and Rebekah

"Mmmmhmmmmmm," Gwen agreed sleepily. She rolled over and buried her face into the pillow, taking in Mordred's scent.

Rebekah looked up as Mordred entered and she put Eavan and Bryant back into the stroller.

"They were sleeping mostly," she informed him.

MOrdred

"That's good."

Mordred took the handles of the stroller.

"Thanks, Bec."

Rebekah

"Not a problem," Rebekah replied.

She stood.

"Hmmm, I might go to bed. Good night, Mordred."

She turned and left.

Mordred

Mordred wheeled the stroller back to his and Gwen's room, entering quietly.

He lifted Eavan out of the stroller, then changed her before putting her to bed. Bryant was fine, so he just put the boy in the cot.

Gwen

Gwen rolled over sleepily and peered at him through heavy lidded eyes.

"Hey you."

She smiled.

"It's getting cold, hurry up and get back into bed."

Mordred

"Yes, ma'am."

Mordred grinned slightly as he got rid of his clothes, then crawled into bed next to her.

"Better?"

Gwen

"Almost."

Gwen took his arm and put it around her waist.

"There, now that's better."

She shifted slightly so she was lying on his chest and lazily let a hand flick at his nipple rings, while closing her eyes.

Mordred

Mordred kissed her forehead affectionately.

"We really should sleep. Babies, they don't stick to normal sleep patterns."

He closed his eyes as well, holding her tight.

Gwen

"Mmmmhmmmm," Gwen agreed.

She reached for Mordred's hand and entwined their fingers as she drifted off to sleep.
