17 November 2003 - The Next Morning

AiMsTeR and Tegan

Christian & Blakesley Snr

Christian struggled to open his eyes, then groaned at the feeling in his stomach.

What kind of drugs had they used on him now? Damn it all.

Blakesley's father settled in front of the television again, waiting for Kaleb to awaken.

Blakesley.

Blakesley woke up, and attended to all the things men usually need to do in the morning. He shaved carefully, wincing at the gash in his cheek, before rebandaging it.

He left his room and got a cup of tea, drinking it quietly while he thought and flipped through his mail. He then went to his computer and smiled.

"I knew she'd come back into America sooner or later..."

Christian & Blakesley Snr

It took a moment for Christian to realize the position he was in. He tried to sit up slightly, but felt a wave of dizziness wash over him and he had to lay down again.

Blakesley's father heard the doctor talking to himself, and turned slightly.

"There's no point in mumuring to yourself when there are others willing to hear," he said pointedly, turning back to the TV.

Blakesley.

"Just thinking aloud..."

Blakesley turned in his chair to look after his father.

"Christina, or Spook as she likes to call herself has reentered the country. She's in Tulsa. I might see what I can do about retreiving her...I want to see how her mutation is progressing."

Blakesley Snr

Blakesley's father nodded.

"Do bring her in," he insisted, "but make sure our boy is awake before you leave."

Blakesley.

"If you want to look after our guest...I might go get her today."

Blakesley raised an eyebrow at his father as he stood.

Blakesley Snr

"Oh, do..." Blakesley's father smiled, "she can keep our boy company when he gets lonely. Although... he may feel the need to look brave in front of her. The weaker of the species, so oftenly seen as the female."

He rubbed his chin.

"A great battle of the sexes... and we could soon have our own."

Blakesley.

"I'll go see if our guest is awake..."

Blakesley walked through to the house to the room with the locks. He unbolted them carefully.

Christian & Blakesley Snr

Blakesley's father just smiled, watching the TV again.

Christian's head darted to the door as he heard it being unlocked, then cursed himself as another wave of dizziness took over.

Blakesley.

"Good morning, Christian," Blakesley said as he stepped inside and turned on the lights.

"I unfortunatly have other business to attend to today...but my father has expressed a great desire to speak to you."

Christian

"Well great for him," Christian turned away, his voice croaking slightly.

He closed the hand that wasn't bandaged, and gulped slightly.

Blakesley.

Blakesley moved over to Christian and started to check his condition over dispassionately.

"How far did you really think you were going to get?"

He peeled back the bandages on one hand before dousing it with antibacterial liquid.

Christian

"Not far," Christian replied, closing his eyes tiredly.

"But it was worth a try. Just to know your reaction."

Blakesley.

"Very childish..."

Blakesley rewrapped Christian's hand, blue eyes carefully kept blank.

"But I have observed that in you."

He moved away to wash his hands.

Christian

"It's not childish. It's called planning ahead," Christian raised his eyebrows, "as I mentioned before... thinking of the long-term. And now I know exactly what your reaction will be if I ever managed to do something like that again."

He looked across at the door, then faced the cieling and closed his eyes again.

Blakesley.

Blakesley shook his head slightly, a small smile curving his lips.

"So convinced you know which way I'm going to jump..."

He dried his hands on the towel, before starting towards the door.

Christian

Christian heard his footsteps heading for the door.

"That's because you're getting predictable," he sighed, trying to make his body relax again.

Blakesley.

"So you think..." Blakesley murmured as he closed the door behind him.

He passed his father on the way to the door.

"Our guest is awake, if you want to talk to him.

He left to go fetch Spook.
