Spook
Christina sighed as she drove into Tulsa.
She wasn't sure if she really wanted to remember her past. There had been some things in the cabin that she didn't want to know about.
She'd sold the weapons in dribs and drabs as she drove to this address she'd had next to her bed. Underlined and highlighted.
So she was guessing it had been important to her Before. Before...
RK purred comfortingly and rubbed his head along the bottom of her arm.
"I'm sure it will be fine..."
"I'm just hoping it will be, RK. I don't know why that address was important. It could have been a warning to stay the hell away..."
Christina stopped at a cafe to get some lunch, sitting at an outside table. She dressed differently now then she had before, in comfortably faded blue jeans and a long sleeved red top. She still wore the boots though, and the shades.
RK begged for some of her sandwich and she fed him a tidbit.
Chloe
Chloe walked past the cafe`, and for some unknown reason glanced inside.
And froze.
Spook?
Christina Terry?
Where the heck was Steel when you needed him...
Spook
Christina cooed to RK as the cat begged for more tidbits.
"So...should I check this address out or not?"
"Yes."
"You can afford to be complacent."
"That's also true."
RK glanced outside and looked at Chloe. His tail fluffed up slightly.
"RK? What gives?"
Christina looked in the direction RK was looking and looked into Chloe's eyes without a tremour of recognition.
Chloe
Chloe saw her looking, then backed off from the window.
She bumped into someone, apologized, then hurriedly began to walk back down the street.
'Ok Steel... now would be a good time to show up with that gun of yours...'
Spook
"I wonder what her problem was..." Christina mused. She paid, and then she and RK left.
They just walked down the street, Christina's head down as she rubbed the piece of paper with the address on it between her fingers. She didn't even know the names of the people who lived there...
Chloe
Chloe had ducked into a nearby alley, seeing Christina following her.
Fingering a dagger Steel had given her, she held it behind her ready to use in defence - her power obviously didn't work around her now. And she wasn't willing to be a little ransom toy again.
She waited until she could hear Christina's footsteps.
Spook
Christina sighed.
"I really don't know...I can't remember where this address comes from. It was obviously important..."
"You can't really blame yourself for not remembering. I'm just glad Tanya could put you mostly back together again."
"Guess I must've screwed myself up pretty badly."
"You could say that. You thought it was worth it at the time."
"I must've been an idiot."
Chloe
Chloe heard her footsteps, and kept quiet.
When Christina made it to the alleyway, she suddenly reached out and grabbed the alien's arm, pulled her into the alley, and stood between her and the road weilding the knife.
"What do you want?" she demanded, obvious fear in her eyes, "why are you here?! Haven't you done enough?!"
Spook
Christina looked at her with concern and slowly backed away, hands outspread to show she wasn't carrying a weapon.
"Hate to break it to you, miss, but I don't know who you are."
RK sighed. Fantastic. He licked his paw slowly.
Chloe
Chloe squinted at her.
"Bullshit," she spat.
"What the hell are you doing in back in Tulsa? If Steel finds you, you're dead."
Spook
"See, that's the thing. I really have no idea who you are," Christina said.
"And whoever this Steel is...odd name. Do you know more people who name themselves after metals? Anyway. What am I doing here? Trying to find out who I was."
Chloe
"Steel is a street name, and basically every alien knows who he is - and a lot of humans," Chloe frowned, "and if you even think about letting him find you, you have a deathwish. After what you did to Christian and Taylor..."
Spook
"Who?"
Christina looked honestly confused and she slid the shades off her face onto the top of her head.
"You keep saying these names like they're meant to mean something to me..."
Chloe
"Taylor is a guy who you kidnapped and took in to a scientist named Blakesley so he could experiment on he and his girlfriend," Chloe shook some hair out of her eyes.
"Christian is his clone. Who used to like you until you screwed him over and kidnapped him. When he got away you kidnapped me instead and demanded a swap. He gave himself up for me and you had him for a whole freaking month. He was back for less than a freaking day before the scientist got him."
Chloe put the knife back into her belt and shook her head.
"And you don't know what the hell you've done to us."
Spook
Christina looked horrified, then glanced down at RK.
"RK?"
"Well...the part about Christian is true. I think."
"Whatever I did...then. I'm sorry. I don't remember any of it..."
Chloe
"And I don't know how I can believe you," Chloe shook her head as she began to back off.
"Just stay away from us. And stay away from Christian."
Then she bolted down the street, heading back to her apartment.
Spook
Christina looked after her sadly.
"I would if I knew who he was..."
She walked back to her car slowly and got into the driver's seat. She looked at the address one more time, then screwed up the piece of paper and tossed it into the backseat.
"RK, I don't think I want to know who I was..."
The cat jumped in the car and she closed the door, before starting to drive off.
