Taylor
Taylor groaned as he collapsed onto his back to give his eyes a rest. He'd been working on the translations practically non-stop, and having minimal sleep, but he was still only about three quarters of the way through translating the walls alone. There was still the ceiling to go, some on the floor, the sphere itself, and some designs were unfinished by the door which meant there were more outside.
Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and yawned. His hand was stiff from writing so much, and his back was practically killing him. But he was learning an enormous amount through what he was seeing.
Everything written was cryptic, much like the thunder box. Taylor has given the Eye the exact translation of the thunder box, even though through his power he'd already known what it meant. Just like he knew what he'd read so far meant. He just hoped the Eye didn't want him to go through and translate again - it was way too much work.
But he couldn't wait to tell his father what he was seeing.
The Eye
The Eye traversed the tunnels and entered the cavern.
"So. How's it coming?" he asked Taylor.
He put down a box on the floor.
Taylor
Taylor sat up again, eyeing the box.
"Slowly," he replied, and rubbed his eyes.
"Do you have some more paper? And I think this pen's running out."
The Eye
The Eye pulled a notepad and a couple of pens from the box.
"Here," he said. "And there's more food too."
He took note of Taylor's progress. Yes, it was coming slowly. But it was coming, and that was the important thing.
Taylor
Taylor took the things he handed him, then stretched his back and looked up at the wall.
He opened the notepad and scribbled a little to get one of the pens working, then looked back at his last lot of notes and back up to the wall to see where he was. He traced his finger along the words, then copied them down.
The Eye
The Eye scanned the translation since his last visit. He let out a long, slow breath.
"It's all very amazing isn't it?"
Taylor
Taylor just shook his head as he squinted at a drawing.
"It's all... it's indescribable."
He sat back a little and tilted his head, before beginning to sketch what he was seeing.
"Even the Elder would be amazed... I can't wait to tell Dad."
The Eye
The Eye was silent for a moment.
"I'm sure you can't," he replied coldly.
Fool that he had been! In his eagerness to finally get a translation, he had forgotten that once he released Taylor, he couldn't stop hims from sharing what he knew, voluntarily or otherwise. Well, there was that girl, Ashley... perhaps he should have her released from her training sooner than intended to do away with him.
But not so soon after his return that they could connect her to him.
Taylor
Taylor hesitated for a moment, pursing his lips.
"Actually it's almost time for my next treatment with Tanya. She'll probably pick it right out of my head."
He frowned slightly.
"I've been... having treatments from her. For the damage in my mind since last time, and... the first time, with Blakesley."
He gulped a little, trying to wipe the scientist from his thoughts, then looked up at the wall again.
The Eye
Tanya was still on the space station... note to self, have Ashley kill Taylor before his next meeting with Tanya. Then he frowned a little. Maybe that would be a bit too soon... damn it!
He sighed.
Oh well, at least they wouldn't be able to find the cave. Hmm... maybe he should just kill Taylor... no... he may have need of his services again in the future.
"Yes, I heard about the treatments."
Taylor
Taylor hesitated again, then turned his head. He didn't look up, but he glanced toward Craig before turning around again.
He picked up the notepad and finished the quick sketch, before continuing to write.
"I don't suppose you've heard from Christian..."
The Eye
The Eye peered over Taylor's shoulder.
"Heard from him? No. Heard what he's been up to though."
He mulled over that thought for a moment.
Taylor
Taylor flinched slightly as Craig got closer, and shifted a little.
"He's... been killing a lot of innocent people," he said between breaths.
He frowned a little as he began to write faster.
The Eye
"So I noticed. Must be the influence of Spook. I was never into the massacre business. No point in it."
The Eye moved back a little and looked around the room. It was almost his!
Taylor
Taylor hesitated for a moment, then went back to writing.
"Based on how long it's taken me... I'd say three or four more days. Depending on how much is outside," he said, almost breathlessly.
The Eye
The Eye nodded slowly.
"Very well," he replied.
Hmm... he could always create a little distraction... cause some trouble in his household that may delay Taylor's big mouth.
Taylor
Taylor felt uneasy at the Eye's lack of vocabulary, but tried to wipe it from his thoughts.
He went back to translating, beginning to sketch the next illustration.
He was hoping that as soon as this was over, he'd be going home.
The Eye
The Eye silently watch for a couple of minutes, before turning and leaving the cave system. He had plans to make.
