5 November 2003 - As If I'd Ask Anyone Else

Nessa and Tegan

Faith

Faith dialled in Mouse's number and waited patiently for her to pick up the phone.

She was going to ask Mouse to be the maid of honour at her wedding.

"Hello?"

Mouse

Mouse picked up her ringing mobile phone and put it to her ear.

"Hello?"

Faith

"Hey Mouse, it's Faith."

Faith smiled happily.

"How are you?"

Mouse

"I'm fine..." Mouse said, deciding probably best not to tell her about the biting and blood drinking incident with the plants and the general freakiness.

"Extremely pregnant and my back is killing me, but fine. How have you been?"

Faith

"Little stab wound, the usual. Ah, well, not long now, right?"

Faith fiddled with the phone cord.

"Oh and Zac and I are getting married."

Mouse

"Finally," Mouse said.

"I told him that you were both madly in love with each other, but does anyone listen to the empath? No. Pssh. Congratulations."

Faith

Faith laughed.

"Thanks... and while this is the topic of conversation, I have something to ask you, and you can totally say no, and I won't hold it against you..."

She took a deep breath.

"Will you be my maid of honour?"

Mouse

"I'd be honoured to..."

Mouse frowned slightly.

"When are you planning on having it?"

Faith

"That's something that we haven't discussed."

Faith smiled.

"It was kinda unplanned. We're going ring shopping tomorrow. He... he kinda just asked me in the middle of an argument."

Mouse

"Sounds like Zac," Mouse said dryly.

"Anything other then his music, he has no sense of timing. Well, if it's after January, I'll probably not look like a candidate for the Save the Whales foundation."

Faith

"Ah, well, how is my extremely pregnant friend doing?" Faith asked.

She gingerly touched her stomach.

Mouse

"It's been...interesting."

And that was an understatement, Mouse thought wryly.

"I swear, I am so going to hurt those scientists if I ever catch up to them. Pregnancy? Not fun. At least the morning sickness has stopped. Backache now mostly. And the fact that I keep forgetting my stomach is waaaaay out in front of me. But you can feel the babies kick now!"

Faith

"Aww, poor Mouse. But at least it'll be worth it in the end, right?"

Faith pushed aside her thoughts of her own child.

"And hey, if you ever find those scientists, give me a call and we'll go a huntin."

Mouse

Mouse laughed malicously.

"Oh, you bet. Fafnir's just *dying* to rip out Blakesley's throat. But hmmm...I don't think Taylor would approve somehow. So I probably won't. But you're quite welcome to take the wolf."

She sighed slightly.

"Yeah...when they're finally born, it's gonna be so worth it."

Faith

Faith grinned.

"Alright, Fafnir and I will go a killing."

She chuckled lightly.

"Yes, and I better be there right after they're born, thank you very much. So I can ask you how much it hurts and therefore consider not having children with Zac."

Mouse

"I'll make Priss call you," Mouse promised.

"Since we're not sure what the babies are going to look like exactly... I'm having a homebirth with Priss. So, I'll be in New York for that."

She chuckled slightly.

"Like you'll have a choice. Zac is so amazingly fertile. Maybe Priss should've put the contraceptive charm on *him*..."

Faith

Faith laughed.

"Probably. My plan is to just hope Zac's satisfied with all his other children... and hope he doesn't want another one with me."

She shook her head.

"Anyway, yeah, she better call me. I wanna be there for ya through it."

Mouse

"Thanks, Faith..."

Mouse smiled.

"It means a lot to me...that you want to."

Faith

"Hey, no problems. If anything, I owe you that much."

Faith chuckled.

"You've put up with an enormous amount from both me and Zac."

Mouse

"Mmhmm."

Mouse smiled slightly.

"Maybe now you're back in the picture, he'll stop being a total drain on my energy. Sooo depressed without you, you have no idea."

Faith

Faith grinned.

"Awww, well I guess it's kinda sweet. From my perspective. Not from yours."

She laughed.

"Anyway, I should let you go."

MOuse

"Yeah. Call me sooner rather then later, ok?" Mouse said.

"I do like talking to you. And I'm not really that large a fan of people."

Faith

Faith smiled.

"Same to you. Anyway, I'll be in touch... so I'll talk to you later."

She fiddled with the phone cord.

"Take care of yourself. Bye."

She hung up.

Mouse

"Bye."

Mouse hung up and lay back down on her bed, feeling somewhat better about everything.
