Faith and Angel
Angel sat by Faith's side, his hand holding hers firmly. She opened her eyes slowly.
"Faith?" Angel said, moving his seat closer to her.
"Angel," she whispered, her fingers weakly squeezing his hand.
"How are you feeling?"
"Five by five..."
Zac
Zac slipped down to the medlab.
"Hey..." he said slowly, his eye immediately on Faith. "Is... is she okay?"
Faith and Angel
Angel nodded and stood up, slowly letting go of Faith's hand. "I'll leave you guys to it." He left quickly.
Faith coughed. "Ow." She held onto her stomach and looked at Zac. "He's very subtle. Hi."
Zac
"Hi," Zac smiled, walking over. "How you doing?"
He took her hand in his.
Faith
Faith squeezed his hand.
"I'm ok. What brings you here? Oh wait... concert, right?"
She shook her head slightly.
"Sorry, I'm a bit... messed up."
Zac
"It's okay," Zac assured her. "You had a rough day. I just hope you gave better than you got."
Faith
Faith nodded slightly.
"Yeah, bright side, this didn't happen until we were leaving. Ironic."
She let out a laugh.
"Ok, ow."
She crinkled her nose.
"What's this... the third time I've been stabbed here, and I'm still not used to it? I... I'm glad you're here."
Zac
Zac smiled.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Y'know... I think you need to join SA. Stabees Anonymous."
Faith
Faith smiled and curled her fingers around Zac's hand.
"So you've got Sexaholics Anonymous, Taylor has Abductees Anonymous, I have Stabees Anonymous... what does Ike have?"
Zac
"HA," Zac answered. "Heroes Anonymous. He's the worst off, I think. Too much heroism can kill ya."
He grinned broadly.
Faith
Faith shook her head, but she was smiling.
"Insane."
She frowned.
"Hey wait a minute, yeah, you hung up on me the other day."
Zac
Zac shook his head.
"No, I didn't," he replied. "The battery decided to take that moment to die."
Faith
Faith nodded and took her hand away from Zac's.
"Probably just as well. Before anything was said that... that would be regretted."
She shifted slightly in the bed and looked away.
Zac
Zac was silent for a moment, and looked down at his empty hand.
"We... we seem to have a habit of that huh?"
Faith
Faith bit the inside of her lip.
No, he had a girlfriend and she was upstairs, in fact. This was not the time to give in.
"Yeah, we do that all the time. So maybe it's best if we... for real this time."
Zac
"Faith, I hate being parted from you," Zac said firmly. "It's driving me insane. Do you have any idea how much I think about you? Day in, day out... I... I can't..."
Faith
"Zac..."
Faith sighed.
"This isn't right. We go back into this, and one of us is going to get hurt. Maybe both of us, and I tell you, I don't know how much more I can take."
Zac
"No, no, no, no, no! This is not happening! Zac thought to himself.
"Faithy... I... Damn it haven't we both be hurt enough all-freaking-ready? I'm not - Argh!"
Angrilly, Zac turned on his heel and stormed out of the medlab.
Faith and Gwen
Faith sat up and stared sadly out after Zac. She pulled the needle from her arm and winced slightly, then got out of bed on shaky legs, waited until she was sure Zac was gone, and went upstairs to her room.
Gwen ran a hand through Mordred's hair, watching as he slept. She bent her head and kissed his cheek, caressing his face.
Mordred, Spike and Vortigern
Mordred murmured slightly in his sleep where he was slumped in a chair next to Vortigern's hospital bed.
Spike was on the other side, also asleep, worn out by all that had happened the day before. He held Vortigern's hand on his.
The twins's chests rose and fell in uncanny unison with each other.
Spike and Mordred hadn't really moved since the day before when they'd arrived back.
Gwen
Gwen sighed and tucked the blanket tighter around Mordred. She went to Vortigern's bedside and touched his forehead lightly, then turned and went to the kitchens to get some breakfast for Spike and Mordred. She brought it down and set it on a table, then left again.
Mordred, Spike and Vortigern
Mordred slept on.
Spike kept looking like a corpse.
Vortigern woke up, looked around briefly, then went back to sleep.
