31 October 2003 - Better Late Than Never

Nessa and Tegan

Gwen

Gwen woke up and glanced at her clock. She got up and tucked Mordred's present carefully into a bag and went into her bathroom, showered and dressed in a short dirty denim skirt, and a black halter necked top. She slipped on her black knee high boots and made her bed, humming quietly to herself, then decided to call Mordred.

"Mordred?"

Mordred

Mordred sat straighter and closed his eyes.

That you, love? You want to be picked up?

Gwen

"Yup... if you wanna pick me up, that is..."

Gwen grinned and picked her bag up.

Mordred

Mordred didn't even dignify that with an answer and he appeared in front of her and enfolded her in a hug, lips finding hers.

"Gwen...I missed you."

Gwen

Gwen hugged him back tightly and kissed him.

"I missed you too... and happy birthday, my darling boy."

Mordred

"Yeah, I was thinking about that," Mordred drawled before he 'ported them back to the mansion.

"Is it a gift I can actually open in front of everyone, or something else?"

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"You can open it in front of people..."

She kissed his cheek lightly.

"I have something for Vort too."

Mordred

"That's good to hear, love." Mordred kissed her mouth more firmly.

"So, should we go find him?"

Gwen

"Yes, yes we should."

Gwen kissed him back.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here for your birthday. What did you do?"

Mordred

"Not much...I gave Vortigern some more paints, he got me a book on cars. Mary wrote me a poem, Siobhan sent me a finger painting...Dem and Tav got me a new leather coat. We Mavericks had a quiet party. Gave Dem and Tav their birthday presents too."

Gwen

Gwen bit her lip.

"Cool."

She wondered if she should tell him the news.

"Uh... Mordred..."

Mordred

"What, love?"

Mordred looked at her, suddenly concerned.

"Whatever it is, you can tell me."

Gwen

Gwen bit her lip.

"How would you feel about..."

She took a deep breath.

"Um... oh God, this shouldn't be hard to say..."

She exhaled.

"I'm pregnant."

Mordred

Mordred blinked slightly.

"Wow..."

Gwen

Gwen bit her lip.

"Well, it's hardly surprising really, when you think about it, seeing as we've been going at it like rabbits. I found out last night and I was going to tell you then, but I didn't know how you'd react and in fact, I still don't know what your real reaction is, so I guess what I'm saying is that if you don't want it, then we can work around it."

She took a deep breath.

Mordred

"Don't want it? Why wouldn't I want it?"

Mordred slowly smiled at her.

"I love you, you know that. I'm just... a little shocked, that's all. Though as you say, it isn't really surprising."

Gwen

Gwen smiled back.

"I know... I was kinda nervous about telling you... I don't know why now."

She kissed him.

"So we'll be a family... it's... it's kinda exciting."

She grinned.

Mordred

"It's very exciting."

Mordred hugged her, kissing her hard.

"You gonna tell everyone else, or do you want to keep it to ourselves for now?"

Gwen

Gwen smiled.

"I don't mind... we can tell people, I'm not fussed. I think we should at least tell Vort."

She giggled.

"We're going to have a baby!" she exclaimed, hugging him tightly.

Mordred

"Girl. With your eyes."

Mordred kissed her.

"I'll have to buy a shotgun. Don't actually have one yet."

Gwen

Gwen smiled, tears sparkling in her eyes.

"So... do you want your actual present?"

Mordred

"Think I already got the best one," Mordred told her lovingly.

Gwen

Gwen kissed him softly.

"I love you so much," she whispered.

Mordred

"I love yo, my darling Gwen," Mordred said softly.

"Always and forever."

Gwen

Gwen smiled sweetly and bent down to unzip her bag. She pulled out a long item, wrapped carefully in cloth. She handed it to him, flat on her palms.

"Well, I know, I'm enough... but happy birthday," Gwen said, wiping a tear from her eye.

Mordred

"You've always been more the enough for me."

Mordred unwrapped the gift carefully, to reveal a gleaming sword.

"It's beautiful..."

Gwen

"Yeah, I know I am," Gwen grinned cheekily. "The sword's not too bad either."

She kissed him softly.

"Happy birthday, my darling love."

Mordred

Mordred admired the sword for a few more moments, then wrapped it back up.

"Thank you, Gwen."

Gwen

Gwen smiled and hugged him again.

"Not a problem."

She pulled Vort's present out.

"Ok, this is heavy, let's find him now."

Mordred and Vortigern

Mordred laughed slightly, and then they went to find his twin.

"Hey, Vort."

Vortigern looked up from his sketching and smiled.

"Gwen, you're back!"

Gwen

"It's so exciting, isn't it? I should go away more often, just so people are happy to see me."

Gwen grinned and handed him the large box.

"Happy birthday for yesterday."

Vortigern and Mordred

"Thanks, Gwen," Vortigern said, then started to open the box. Tickets for a museum in Italy and a alrge hard cover art book.

"He's not talking, he likes it and is very shocked," Mordred translated, smiling slightly.

Gwen

Gwen took Mordred's hand, entwining their fingers.

"Well that's good then."

Her other hand went to her stomach and she smiled slightly.

Vortigern and Mordred

Vortigern started leafing through the book.

"Ok...I don't think he's going to be connected to the land of the living for a while..." Mordred smiled.

Gwen

Gwen grinned.

"So I could dance around here naked and he wouldn't pay attention... interesting..."

She kissed Mordred's cheek.

"I figured he could use a real holiday... after the year he's had."

Mordred

"Yeah..."

Mordred turned his head to kiss her properly.

"Good present ideas, love."

Gwen

Gwen kissed him back.

"Well, I'm just full of good ideas."

She smiled.

"Because I'm fantastic. And kinda hungry."

Mordred

"Then we should feed you."

Mordred bit down lightly on her shoulder.

"We can't have you starving."

Gwen

Gwen kissed his cheek.

"Yes we do... you know, in some parts of the world, you're legal now. Not here, of course," she said, rolling her eyes.

Mordred

"Because Americans are stupid. Since when has forbidding something ever stopped people from doing it? Especially in regards to sex."

Mordred put his hands on her waist, thumbs spread over her stomach.

"You're so beautiful, Gwen..."

Gwen

"Actually you're legal to have sex now."

Gwen kissed his head.

"Thank you," she said softly. "I love you."

Mordred

"What are you thanking me for?"

Mordred tilted his head slightly and looked at her.

"I love you too, mo cariad."

Gwen

"For just being here."

Gwen smiled cheekily.

"For not running away in relief when I went to LA."

Mordred

"I have plans for the future that require your participation."

Mordred kissed her neck.

Gwen

"Hmmm, like what?" Gwen asked coyly.

She moved slightly to allow hi better access to her neck.

Mordred

"Oh...things."

Mordred bit down gently,, then licked the abused skin softly.

Gwen

"Hmmm, I like the sound of that."

Gwen grinned.

"But can Gwen get something to eat first? All work and no play makes Gwen a weak person indeed."

Mordred

"Talking of yourself in the third person...not a good sign of your sanity. So we better get you something to eat."

A shift, and they were in the caf.

Gwen

"Sank chaaaa," Gwen said happily.

She looked around.

"Hmmmmmmm, what to eat?"

Mordred

"Food is usually good," Mordred suggested.

"I was thinking sandwich..."

Gwen

"So clever..."

Gwen grinned and grabbed a drink from the fridge, then a sandwich.

Mordred

"I know, I'm very smart."

Mordred grinned back.

Gwen

Gwen chuckled slightly and went to sit at a table, dumping her bag onto the ground.

"Well, there are in fact, a few people interested in my house already... makes me feel kinda nice, it's in high demand."

She smiled and took a sip of her drink.

"Oh and I have some weird ancient scrolls for Wesley. Well, they weren't meant for him, but he can have them."

Mordred

"I'm sure he'll be ecstatic. Job end badly then?" Mordred asked, raising an eyebrow slightly as he sat next to her.

Gwen

"You could say that. Hazard of the biz. People wanting to screw you over, not pay. Kill you."

Gwen took a bite of her sandwich, chewed thoughtfully then swallowed.

"The guy tried, very unsuccessfully to push me off a pier. So I killed him, ended up with the money and the scrolls. Have no idea what to do with the scrolls though, which is why they're going to Wesley."

Mordred

"Just don't tell Wesley you killed the guy when you give them to him."

Mordred shrugged slightly.

"He tried to kill you, he deserved to die. For stupidity if nothing else."

Gwen

"Yes."

Gwen grinned evilly.

"Was fun also."

She giggled.

"But yeah, don't think I'll be working for them again."

She finished her sandwich.

"Shall we go give Wesley the scrolls?"

Mordred

"Yeah."

Mordred stood and smiled at her.

"And then I think we can play."

Gwen

"Play?"

Gwen fixed an innocent expression on her face.

"Play what?"

Mordred

"You'll find out."

Mordred grinned.

"Let's deliver these scrolls to the Watcher."

Gwen

Gwen smiled.

"I don't think I want to play."

She stood up and pulled the bag of scrolls from her bag.

Mordred

"Awwww..." Mordred pouted.

"Be fun..."

Gwen

Gwen kissed his pout.

"Someow I don't think I get a choice."

Mordred

"You'd be right."

Mordred grinned.

"Let's go deliver the scrolls."

Gwen

"Ok."

Gwen followed Mordred as they looked for Wesley.

"Ah, hello."

Wesley

"Hello, Gwen," Wesley said pleasantly.

Serafina looked up briefly from where she was scribbling, then returned to scribbling.

Gwen

Gwen handed Wesley the bag.

"Present. Ancient scrolls. Maybe... Greek, but I'm not too sure."

Wesley and Mordred

Wesley opened the bag eagerly and got one of the scrolls out to look at it.

"Xapphic demon, actually...they're an extinct demon species who used to live on the shores of the Agean. Thank you very much, Gwen."

"Have fun," Mordred said cheerfully as he started to tug Gwen in the direction of their room.

Gwen

"Not a problem," Gwen said as she was dragged from the room.

"Guess someone wants to play, yes?"

Mordred

"What do you think?" Mordred chuckled slightly.

"I missed you."

Gwen

Gwen giggled.

"I was gone for a day. Maybe a bit more."

She kissed his cheek.

"I feel so loved."

Mordred

"So you should."

Mordred grinned as he thought about what he had planned. Mwhahaha!

Except maybe tone down on the mental evil laughter.

Gwen

Gwen let herself be led to their bedroom.

"I'm also a little nervous."

MOrdred

"Well, you shouldn't be that..." Mordred murmured before he kissed her at their bedroom door.

And then he knocked her out.

Time to play.
