Isaac and Zac
Isaac was putting on his shoes and socks when Zac reluctantly slipped out of his bed.
"Welcome to the world of the awake," Isaac commented. "Have a nice sleep?"
Zac didn't answer.
"I fed Saku."
"Thanks."
"Have nice dreams last night."
"Yeah, yeah."
"Dreams involving Faith, perhaps."
Zac gave him a dirty look.
"Hey, don't give me that look. You were the one calling out her name during the night."
Zac winced.
"I did?"
"Yep. Wonder I got any sleep at all."
"Funny."
There was silence for a bit as Zac went through his bag for some clothes.
"Why can't you just admit it, Zac?"
"Admit what?"
"That you're head over heels, totally, completely and utterly in love with Faith."
"No, I'm not."
"Suuuuuuure."
"I'm not!"
"Yeah, yeah. Tell it to your song book. Tell it to the way you look at her. Tell it to -"
"Ike, I'm not in love with Faith. Sure, I love her, but that doesn't mean I'm -"
"You're wet Zac. Soaked to the bone."
"Huh?"
"Swimming in denial. Denial, the Nile, get it?"
"Ha. Ha. Ha."
"Y'know... sometimes when you're half asleep, you refer to Faith as being your girlfriend still. Heck sometimes when you're wide awake you even seem to forget you're dating Rachel! I don't know a single love song you've written in the past few months that wasn't about her. You're having problems controlling yourself when you're around her. And you're always talking about her. Always."
"Ike, I'm -"
"She looks at you the same, y'know."
"Huh?"
"When you two look at each other... you can see it in your eyes you're both mad for each other."
Zac shook his head.
"You're wrong. She doesn't feel that way for me."
"Damn it Zac!" Isaac said, banging his fist on the wall. "Stop it already!"
Zac stared.
"Ike?"
"You have something really special, Zac. You found someone to fall in love with, and who loves you as much in return. I can see it Zac. I can hear it in every words of those songs about Faith that you sing. You're so much in love with Faith everyone can see it! Everyone but you. What would I give to be able to fall that much in love with someone, I don't know... I can only hope one day I do." Isaac sighed. "Zac, please just... okay, fine, if you want to refuse to admit you're in love with Faith, would you at least admit it's not all that fair on Rach that her boyfriend forgets he's even dating her because he's always thinking about someone else?"
Zac was quiet for a moment. Then he snatched up his towel and headed for the bathroom. Isaac sighed.
A few minutes later Zac stepped out of the shower.
"You're right."
Isaac looked up at him.
"I usually am," he grinned.
Zac whacked him upside the head.
"I am in love with Faith."
"I know."
Zac plonked down on the bed and fell back with a huge sigh.
"I'm in love with Faith!"
Isaac grinned.
"At least you can admit it now."
"Ike?"
"Mmm?"
"Are you sure? That she loves me?"
"Sure I'm sure. But you're going to have to ask her yourself."
There was silence for a bit.
"We're going to be in New York next week. I'll break it off with Rach then. I think it would be better if I did it face to face."
Isaac nodded in agreement.
"Another thing you're right about - not fair on her. Not fair on any of us for me and Rach to keep dating."
"No, it's not."
"I... I can talk to Faith at the same time, I suppose."
"I don't think it would be a good idea to break up with Rach and ask Faith out when they're in the same room at the same time."
"Funny. You know what I mean."
Isaac grinned.
