26 October 2003 - Princess Can Fight Too

Nessa

Gwen and Kate

"Morning, Gwen," Kate said sweetly as she slipped into the chair across from her.

Gwen smiled at her. "Morning. Someone looks a little beaten up. Did he hit you hard?"

"Nothing I couldn't take."

"Not the way I heard it."

"Heard wrong. Your little whipped Wolf has an important lesson to learn," Kate said, looking intently into Gwen's eyes.

"And what's that?" Gwen asked, folding her arms.

"That you play with fire, and you get burned."

"Don't you get tired of, you know, being a bitch? Take a look at yourself Kate! You can't honestly be happy with what you see."

"What's not to like? None of my lovers have complained."

"I wasn't talking about that. Besides, I doubt anyone is gonna say no to a free lay."

Kate reached out to slap her and Gwen grabbed her hand. "I suggest you leave me and Mordred the hell alone."

"Or what, you'll kill me?"

Gwen's eyes flashed dangerously as her hand turned to pure electric energy. Kate started flinching as her skin burned and her heart felt like it was going to explode.

"Yeah, I will. I can, Kate, and I will, don't you even doubt that."

"I'm... so... f*cking... scared."

Gwen let the electricity get stronger, and Kate grabbed weakly at her heart.

"F*ck... you..."

"No thanks." Gwen let the energy subside as she stood up and headed for the door. "See, the princess can fight too."

Kate weakly used her telepathy to unblock Gwen's barrier, letting assorted memories from her past flow inside her mind, slowly. "Yeah, well, you're about to see just what I can do." Kate stood and looked around for something to wrap her arm in. It looked disgusting, red raw and scorched. Didn't smell too nice either.

Gwen shook her head, feeling strange as she left, then it all came flooding back as she fell to the ground.

"We can't thank you enough — after all we've been through."

***

"Are you a freak?"

"I don't know."

"Guess you don't look like one."

"Thanks."

He was dead...

***

"Professionals are discreet, young lady. You, on the other hand, are a freak. A dangerous freak. Which is why I had them remodel the elevator you're standing in. More of a retrofit, really. Low-teched the whole thing with six inches of Plexiglas separating you from any available current. Tempered Lucite."

"He's gonna seal us in and turn on the gas."

"What are you, Lex Luthor?"

"What do you think, I'm gonna stand here and duke it out with electro girl? No, don't worry. Uh, I'm told that the gas is very fast-acting. You'll be dead within... uh, whoops— Where does the time go?"

"Ok, there's gotta be something. Get down! Now! Get low!"

"Ow! You jackass! You get low!"

***

"I expect to get screwed. Professional thief. Hazard of the biz."

"Just wait a second, please..."

"What I don't appreciate, Elliot, is being called a freak! That's my word. And I get cranky when people like you use it."

"Gwen, think about this..."

"Ever been struck by lightning, Elliot? I've been struck by lightning 14 times. It's not my fault. I just attract it. You know what else attracts lightning? Maggoty little norms like you."

***

"I'm not good with words, you know that. But I love you, and I won't leave you for as long as you decide you can stand to have me around, mo cariad."

***

"Naughty, naughty. Now... guess you'll be coming with me, won't you?"

***

"I love you with everything I am. There is *nothing* I wouldn't do for you. I've killed for you already, and I haven't done that for even Vortigern, and he's like an extension of myself. Nyx was...Nyx *raped* me, and I couldn't stop her, and I'll regret that to the day I die because now you think I don't love you, and I do, more then I can say..."

***

"Oh god."

"He's very talented, Gwen."

"Looks like I'm in the wrong room. Sorry about that."

***

"Gwen...I have something important to ask you. I love you. I never want to leave you. And I want to tell it to the world, every day. Gwen Raiden, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?"

"Of course..."

***

"I can't feel that... Mordred... I can't feel your hand on my leg."

"Oh, oh god, Gwen..."

***

"I love you, my soulmate, my darling love."

"I love you Gwen...god, I never want to let you go."

Gwen shook her head again, an overload of memories coming back at once.

"No," she whispered.
