Kirk
Kirk made his way down the street, cursing to himself.
At least Taylor seemed to be back for good. No more attempts to take him for the moment. Joel had someone keeping surveillance on him anyway.
But Christian... Kirk knew that Spook had him. Chloe had given him full detail. When Christian eventually saw him again... Grrr. He was in for it.
Suddenly, Kirk heard a noise and looked up. Ok, so noises were normal.
"The Jeffersons must have found a buyer. Thanks for letting me know guys," he murmured.
Better go greet the newbies.
He made his way up to the gate, seeing a girl out the front. He leant over the fence, keeping his eyes on her.
"Hey," he began, looking her up and down.
Aaralyn
She turned around and looked at him. " Hey..." She began uneasily and eyed him for a moment more. " Who are you? She asked uncertain not having met anyone else besides Thackery after she had moved there. She went over to the fence.
Kirk
Hmm... kinda cute. Kirk grinned.
"Name's Steel. You bought this place from the Jeffersons, right? They were a great bunch."
His gaze wandered over the front porch, then back to her.
"You're not originally from Tulsa, are you?"
Aaralyn
Aaralyn smiled. Thank's for the compliment steel...nice name, and yes I bought the house from them, but I never really knew them, but they appeared nice." Aaralyn paused and then looked at him. " No I'm originally from Orlando Florida, I just moved here like a month and a half ago. Your the first person besides Thackery to come introduce yourself. My names Aaralyn Skylla, but call me Aara or Aaralyn, I got by those two names often. She smiled again becomming comfortable in conversation.
Kirk
Kirk nodded approvingly.
"Yeah, the Jeffersons were cool. I have a friend that used to go out with a cousin of theirs."
He shrugged.
"They've moved to Georgia I think. We'll keep in touch. Nice name by the way. I'm not sure that I know a Thackery..."
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
"One of the guys might have heard of him. How old is he?"
Aaralyn
Aaralyn raised her eyes up trying to think.
" I think he's around 21, I think he mentioned that. Then again I don't think he's much of a people person either he lives over that a way."
She pointed a house over. He says he's lived there awhile, that he moved away from his parents and came here."
She paused and smiled then shook her head to rid a thought from her head.
She suddenly thought of something.
" Want to come inside for something to drink?" Aaralyn asked.
Kirk
Kirk pursed his lips as he looked in the direction she indicated.
He nodded.
"Yeah, I guess I could do with a drink," he shrugged, "I'd better not be too long though."
He opened the gate and stepped through.
"I'd like to know more about Thackery actually. Has Mrs. Collins from next door met you yet?"
Aaralyn
Aaralyn shook her head." Nope, you and Thackery are the only one's I've met so far. Well I don't really know alot about Thackery but him and I have a really good understanding of each other. He's a sweetheart compared to alot of guys I knew in Florida."
She paused her eyes glazing over for a brief seconds before shaking her head.
" A few reasons why I came here. The main one is, is to start a new life. It's turning out great so far."
She smiled again." Is there anything particular you'd like to know about Thackery? Also who's Mrs. Collins? She nice? Like I said, I haven't met anyone except you and Thackery."
She rambled getting a bit nervous. She paused and then began to walk toward the house. " Follow me."
Kirk
"Josey Collins lives next door," Kirk nodded his head toward the house, "she's in her 80s. Nice lady. But between you and me, I don't think she's gonna last long."
He raised an eyebrow as they made their way inside.
"And I dunno about him. I know msot of the poeple around here, but Thackery is a new name. There's a guy called Thackery over the other side of town, but he's the only one I know."
Aaralyn
Aaralyn frowned. " That's ashame, I'll have to go over and introduce myself to her later." Aaralyn paused and raised her eyebrows.
" well Thackery moved here from another part of town when he moved out of his parents house...that's strange, I don't think he would be one to lie to me. I'm gonna check that out later, but he's a really sweet guy, I dunno, he's been really supportive since I moved in only guy I knew till you came along."
Aaralyn sighed as she went to the refridgerator and glanced at Steel." What would you like to drink? Pepsi, Mountain Dew, water, punch?"
Kirk
"Pepsi, thanks," Kirk nodded.
"Ad as I said, I don't know anything about Thackery. The one I know is in his 40s and has a family. Rotten kids though," he shook his head.
He hesitated, his thoughts turning to Taylor.
"Know many famous people from Tulsa?"
Aaralyn
Aaralyn laughed slightly as she handed steel his drink.
" I don't know anyone around here let alone anyone famous. Who's famous around here?" Aaralyn asked raising her eyebrows.
She then scratched her head slightly." Maybe you outta meet Thackery, I could call him and get him to get his arse over here."
Aaralyn paused. She now had an uneasy feeling about Thackery but wasn't going to let it bother her at the moment.
Kirk
"Well you didn't have to know them personally," Kirk took a drink.
"I meant if you'd actually heard of people like Hanson, Admiral Twin, Bleu... you know."
Aaralyn
Aaralyn laughed.
" Aah ok yea, I've heard of Hanson, personally I just call them the mmmbop boys. I didn't know they lived around here. I have also listened to Admiral Twin, pretty good band, and as for bleu...sounds to be interesting."
She laughed feeling a bit dumb with what she said about Hanson, but it was true she never really had paid attention to their music.
" Do you know anyone famous?" Aaralyn asked switching the question.
Kirk
"Well, all of the above and then some," Kirk shrugged.
"Hanson have come a long way since Mmmbop."
Kirk's phone rang.
"Excuse me."
He pulled it from a pocket in his trench coat. Seeing the name on the screen, he answered.
"Yeah Joel?"
"Chloe's got someone hassling her man."
"Who?"
"Out-of-towner."
Kirk rolled his eyes.
"Who's in the vicinity?"
"I think we have Cole around the corner. Want him to handle it?"
"Sure man. Is he big, little...?"
"Skinny runt."
"Ok. And update?"
"Everything's normal at the Hansons, and still no sign of Chris. You heard about the town thing, right?"
"Yeah I did. listen man, I gotta go. I'm with someone..."
"Go you."
"Not like that. Newbie. I'll call you."
"You owe me man."
"I know."
And Kirk hung up.
"Sorry about that," he apologized, having another drink.
Aaralyn
Aaralyn sat in a chair and looked up.
" That's cool, at least you know a few people famous around here. Wish I knew more people then what I did but, a bit worried because I have alot of issues about being real close to people, because..."
She paused and shook her head.
" I haven't even told Thackery this but, the reason is when I was down in Florida my parents split, and then surprise, mom started dating this guy, and they got so wrapped up in things. That was also the time I noticed something unusual about me."
Aaralyn shook her head." Do you believe in aliens? Just a curious question.
Kirk
Kirk hesitated, and looked her up and down.
"You're not at all discreet, are you?" he raised his eyebrows.
He sat back and rubbed his chin.
"So what are you... empath? No. You can't be a telepath, you would have caught me out already. Something to do with vision?"
Aaralyn
I am also running." She gulped and turned her head slightly. "
Another reason I'm not good with people, is because I had a boyfriend
back in Florida that found out. I told him, and he wouldn't let it
go, soon the whole school was taunting me, he tried to proove this. I
just didn't wanna make any more of a scene, and I ran...my guess is
my boyfriend is still trying to find me, and if he ever does...God
knows what he'll do. I guess he'll picked up with trying to exploite
me, even try to kill me, he wasn't really a stable person."
Aaralyn looked back to steel. " So your one to? What are you?"
Kirk
"If you wanted to get rid of him, I could probably help you with
that..." Kirk raised an eyebrow, shifting the Pepsi between his
hands.
"And I'm hoping he wasn't spreading that you were a real alien. The
YIRAAS would have something to say about that for sure. You're not a
member... are you?"
Aaralyn
Aaralyn sighed." I don't like the thought of killing him, he doesn't
seem to know where I have run off to."
She paused and nodded slightly with a gulp.
" That's what he was spreading, and also me getting drunk and turning
into a tree in the middle of a busy highway doesn't help either."
She shook her head.
" I only had 2 sips just two! Then I was a bit tipsy and I was with
him...needless to say that's when things seemed clearer, that I
wasn't normal at that time, I was drunk so, ya know I'm not stable
drinking. My boyfriend saw the whole thing and I ended up telling
him."
No I'm not a member of the YIRAAS. What are they if I may question?
Kirk
Kirk shook his head with a frown.
"You have to be more careful. If humans got a clue about us we would
be in the deepest $#!+ possible. We're having enough trouble keeping
it under wraps as it is."
He stood up, paced, then sat down again and leant on the table.
"Shifters, especially, have to be extra careful. I'm guessing you're
Semirellian, by getting drunk on alcohol."
He ran his fingers through his hair.
"Please, be careful. And don't tell anyone, even if you screw up. I
can always find a telepath to erase their memory. The US government
knows already, and their reactions haven't exactly been of the good."
Aaralyn
Aaralyn nodded.
" I promise I won't say anything, and that I won't get drunk
anymore."
She paused.
" And yes I am a Semirellian. So was my father I believe, because my
mother is human."
She then paused.
" How is the US government handling this? Also is there anyone I
should stay away from around here? I'd like to meet new people but I
also want to be careful."
She sighed and rubbed her temples.
" This was about a year or so ago. I recently just got away from the
aresache in September, damn good thing I did to. Hell mom can't tell
him anything, because I left without even saying anything."
Then laughed a bit." I apoligise for my rambling guess I was ready to
talk."
Kirk
"You need some alien company," Steel decided.
"There are a few people to stay away from, but as long as you keep
your identity sacred and don't bother them, they won't bother you."
Then he sighed and scratched his head.
"The US government... where to start? Xenophobic bastards. Recently
taken some friends of mine in and... experimented on them. Kinda like
in the movies actually. Secret bases everywhere."
He smiled slightly, his eyes down.
"One of the doctors has a death warrant on him actually. Oh yeah, the
YIRAAS... It stands for 'Yes, I'm Really An Alien Society'. It keeps
tabs on where aliens have spread to throughout the world. Normally
aliens become members as soon as they turn fifteen, but we're always
finding more who've escaped enrollment. Like yourself."
Aaralyn
Aaralyn laughed.
" I didn't intentionally mean to escape enrollment. If you want I can
sign up so I'm not an illigal alien or anything."
She then raised her eyebrows.
" Experimented on your friends? That's not good at all. I think
someone should put them through the exact same thing. Then again,
life is cruel. Were like everyone else, and yet...we aren't human."
Aaralyn shook her head and gave a snort. " Typical this world is."
" Alien comany would be great, in fact any kind of company would be
great, besides Thackery."
She then paused.
" I am gonna really check into that."
She stood up and went to the refridgorator and grabbed a bottle of
water opening it and then sitting back down.
" So about alien company, is there anyone you would introduce me to?"
Kirk
"You might like Chloe," Kirk shrugged, tapping his fingers on the
table.
"I wouldn't introduce you to Christian... oh that's another thing.
Have you heard of the Spider or the Eye? Spook? Lucius maybe?"
Aaralyn
Aaralyn shook her head.
" I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the alien world. Could you explain
a little to me?"
Aaralyn paused.
" Are any of them you mentioned good? Or what's the story? Christian,
the eyes, spook? Weird names. Who're all of them?"
Kirk
"They're the ones you want to stay away from. Christian is... a close
friend at the moment. But... well, it's a long story. There are alien
criminals, just as there are human ones. The Eye, who used to be
known as the Spider, is a very powerful telepath currently on the
lose. He has quite a few contacts himself. Christian was brought up
by him."
He rubbed his hands together.
"Christian was brought up to be an alien hunter. Spook is also an
alien hunter. She's a hybrid that didn't have a power until... not
long ago. She now has one called 'Null', which cancels out other
powers. Useful on her part. For things like kidnapping Christian."
He clenched his fist.
"The two are currently targetting alien towns and families. Just try
to stay out of their way. They don't give you much of a chance to
run."
Aaralyn
Aaralyn's eye widened.
" Holy..." She cut herself off.
" I'll remember that if I ever cross paths. Thanks for the update on
things."
Aaralyn shook her head.
" Why would Christian and Spook target towns for alians to kill, I
mean their own kind? That leaves me a bit worried there."
She looked to the door as the doorbell suddenly rang.
" It must be Thackery."
She got up but motioned for steel to keep going.
" Thackery is a healer, I only found out cause he used it when he got
a scrape on his hand helping me move, he didn't think I was watching,
or could see. So basically he's alien as well. Keep going."
She went to answer the door.
Kirk
"They're hunters, it's their job. We did kinda invade Earth you
know," Kirk shrugged.
He decided to wait and see who was at the door. If it wasn't
Thackery, chances were he knew who it was.
Aaralyn and Thackery
Aaralyn shook her head.
" Killing has never been my thing."
She stated as she opened the door. A smile going to her lips.
" Hey Thacks."
Aaralyn greeted with a wider smile and took his hand while closing
the door and leading him in.
Aaralyn walked to the kitchen and from there Thackery saw Steel.
" Hey..." Thackery said not too sure who it was.
" Haven't seen you around here." Thackery answered dropping Aaralyn's
hand.
Kirk
"Likewise," Kirk looked him up and down, "which is unusual around
these parts. How long have you been in Tulsa?"
He had another drink of Pepsi.
Thackery
Thackery was taken aback by the straight to the point question.
" Well...I moved out of my parents house about a year or so ago."
He then paused and gulped turning to Aaralyn then back to steel.
" My name is Thackery Loverset. I'm 21 years old. I never really got
out to meet anyone, nor have I gone out much during the day, that's
probably why. Aaralyn's the first person I talked to around here. I
guess were both anti social. I dunno what posessed me to walk up to
meet her that day, but...she wasn't like others. I guess I just
thought she was attractive." He gave a short laugh. " Then again, I
haven't dated anyone in 2 years."
Thackery paused to look at steel.
" Well that sounded like a really intelligant responce."
Thackery rolled his eyes at himself. Then turned his attention back
to steel.
" Who are you?"
Kirk
"Name's Steel," Kirk took Thackery's hand and shook it, then sat
back.
"Local guy who knows everyone. I happened to see a new face and
thought I'd get to know it."
He gave Thackery a considering look.
"Your parents can't have lived in Tulsa. I'd know them. Where are you
from originally?"
Thackery and Aaralyn
Thackery gulped slightly.
" They live in Harper County, a few days drive from there to here.
About 2 days I'm guessing not really sure. I didn't really pay
attention. I go every couple months to visit them."
Thackery stated sitting down in Aaralyn's seat as she took another to
listen in more.
" I think a new face is worth getting to know. I've pretty much made
myself hidden. Well except when Aaralyn came along."
Aaralyn rolled her eyes with a smile and shake of her head. She
sighed sofly.
Kirk
"Well, if you're not a member of the YIRAAS, I suggest you get
yourselves enrolled," Kirk nodded.
"I'm Dathrian by the way. I know a lot of mixes... Daths, Sems,
hybrids, mutants..." he shrugged, "then again, I know a lot of
people. I grew up on the streets of Tulsa, and I wouldn't have it any
other way."
Aaralyn and Thackery
Aaralyn nodded.
"I'll do that as soon as possible."
Aaralyn looked to Thackery.
Thackery nodded.
" Yea I'll enroll. What's the purpose though? So people can spy on
you any chance they get? Or track you? What is the purpose of
enrolling?"
Thackery asked with raised eyebrows and then shook his head getting a
little annoyed. He had the feeling that he had missed alot alot of
Aaralyn and Steel's conversation.
Aaralyn looked to Thackery.
" Chill Thacks."
Kirk
"Yeah, chill man. It's to keep tabs on where all the aliens are. And
if you think that's a bad thing? Well you'll come crawling if you get
an alien disease. Like Verizik or a variation."
He looked to Aaralyn.
"The Hansons' mother has that at the moment. It's affecting not only
her power, but her mind now. It's tragic."
Aaralyn and Thackery
Aaralyn shook her head sadly.
" That's ashame to hear this, tell her I offer my condolance and hope
that she will recover. I hope they're all ok.
She paused with a slight shiver that ran down her back.
We'll enroll as soon as possible. If you can tell me where to
register at I'll make sure us both get enrolled into it."
Thackery rolled his eyes but nodded.
" Yea we'll enroll. I'm not that much advanced of a healer."
Then he gave a sigh and looked to Aaralyn.
Give me the information later Aara I've got some things to do. Meet
me online about 8 tonight and we'll chat. Plus I really need to talk
with you."
Thackery paused watching Aaralyn raise her eyebrows.
" Ok Thacks, but instead of online come over."
Thackery nodded and stood up.
" Nice to meet you Steel, perhaps we can all meet up at a later date."
Thackery said before going to the door and through it. Leaving a
puzzled Aaralyn.
" What in the devil has gotten into him?" She murmered.
Aaralyn turned to Steel.
" Sorry about that, I don't know what the hell got into him."
Aaralyn said.
Kirk
"I'll tell her. Her husband is on the YIRAAS council, and he deals
with new members. I'll contact them in the next week or so. I'm in
the middle of a search for Christian actually."
He scratched his head.
"Since Thackery is a healer, he's going to have a bit of work to do.
Even if healers aren't into medical training, they're automatically
on call 24/7 to any nearby alien that might be injured. Which should
be useful. I only know of one around this part of town."
He sighed, then stood.
"I'd better get back to Chloe. I might bring her around sometime."
Aaralyn
Aaralyn nodded.
" I think if Thacks went to medical school for this particular reason
it'd do some good."
She sighed and nodded.
" Ok let me know what I should do to enroll when you can find out.
Thanks again for stopping by. Stop by anytime feel free to bring
anyone, and good luck with your search for Christian. I hope all ends
well."
Aaralyn finished as she stood as well.
Kirk
"Thackery doesn't have to go to medical school. He has a natural gift
already," Kirk looked confused.
"But yeah, I'll see you again. And I hope I find Christian too...
before he does any more damage."
And with that, Steel left.
