Spook
Christina whistled slightly as she drove slowly into town.
So, here they were.
Roswell.
She was hoping she got to kill some more people, though wiping that whole town out had been peachy keen and fun day out at the fair with rollercoaster rides and fairy floss. Far beyond fantastic. She was still riding the high.
RK meowed slightly and nudged her hand.
She scratched his ears as she stopped at a traffic light.
"So, we'll get a hotel room, then go take a look around. Sound alright to you?"
Christian
"Cool," Christian shrugged in the back seat.
He was staring out the window, wondering how often they'd get to hunt this time.
Spook
"He's so talkative, isn't he?" Christina commented dryly to RK.
"There's supposed to be quite a large colony here, so we should be able to have some good hunting."
Christian
"Cool again," Christian nodded.
He scratched absently at his scarry wrist.
"Need to get in some more practice."
Spook
"Yeah. The town was fun though."
Christina grinned and RK gave both her and Christian a disapproving stare.
"We'll find out if there's some place that's a gathering point...and we can start there and move out."
Christian
Christian pulled a face.
"I'm not so sure about taking on a whole county. But it's a good place to start anyway."
He shifted slightly.
Spook
Christina laughed slightly.
"I just meant, find some individual targets and follow them home."
She grinned.
"Or kill them on the way there."
Christian
Christian chuckled.
"At night. The whole dark alleyway scene. Freaks people out something terrible."
He scratched his nose.
"Ever done that before? It's hell fun."
Spook
"The stopping and starting of footsteps as they walk?"
Christina laughed.
"And then they get so freaked out they run...but you always manage to catch them. And then they find out that yes, bad things happen in the dark."
Christian
"Some of the funniest ones to do that to are shapeshifters," Christian rolled his eyes, "they keep shifting and hiding to see who, if anyone, is following them. It takes a while, but as soon as they return to normal, or an animal, blam. Dead as a doornail."
Spook
"Good fun indeed."
Christina grinned.
"Want to play a few games of that tonight? If we can find an alien or two..."
Christian
"We could have a competition," Christian chuckled.
"See who's victims get the most freaked out. Or the most hysterical."
He cracked his knuckles.
Spook
"Sounds like fun."
Christina cruised the streets looking for a hotel with a vacancy.
They passed a couple of clubs.
"They have to be aliens though. Humans are just too easy."
Christian
"Humans annoy me too much anyway," Christian frowned.
"But I'd gladly do it to Kaleb."
He chuckled again.
Spook
"Oh god, I know."
Christina nodded.
"Odious little man...well, tall man. But still. Yuck, hating. Hating with vengeance. I want to wipe out another lab now."
Christian
"I wish I could have seen his reaction to the video."
Christian leant his head back and groaned.
"Man, that woulda been something."
Spook
"Would've been a thing of beauty..."
Christina sighed.
"Doing it was fun though."
Christian
"Ooooh yeah..."
Christian turned his head to look out the window.
"I can't wait to see him again. Give the bastard what he deserves."
Spook
"I'll leave that to you. But if you could tape it and send a copy to Alice...she'd make sure I got it."
Christina saw a hotel and flicked her indicator on, waiting for a break in the traffic.
"Mouse might like one too."
Christian
"Yeah but Taylor wouldn't," Christian pointed out.
He sat up again as he spotted where they were going.
"Then again, he's just a wuss. No guts."
Spook
"Taylor doesn't have to watch it, if he doesn't want to," Christina pointed out.
She swung into the hotel's parking lot.
With a few words, she'd rented two rooms with single beds next to each other.
"And I think somehow Mouse and that wolf of hers would appreciate it."
Christian
"He still has a connection with her, so he's gonna know what's happening," Christian raised an eyebrow, "unless you separate them far enough away - I think she said a state at least."
He opened the door to one of the rooms.
"What time do you want to leave?"
Spook
"That can be Mouse's problem."
Christina shrugged slightly as she opened the door to her room and RK fled inside to jump on her bed.
"I was thinking we could start hunting the clubs around eight-ish. There was a cafe in town I saw that we could get some lunch from. Crashdown, I think it was called...looked busy."
Christian
Christian nodded, looking up and down the row of doors.
"Times like these I wish I was a mind-reader."
He disappeared inside his room to get a look around.
Spook
"You and me both," Christian said.
She walked inside her room and dropped her bag on the bed. RK gave her an injured, hard done by look.
"Oh, don't give me that look."
She scratched behind his ears and he purred.
"I really wish I knew exactly what you are...you're not a normal run of the mill everyday cat, that's for sure..."
RK just purred and butted his hand against her palm.
Christian
Christian closed his door, looked around, then made his way over to the window to check out his view. Nodding to himself, he headed for the bathroom. Just to check the room out.
It wasn't too bad.
Ok, it could have been worse.
He might have had to share with her.
Spook
Christina napped for a bit on the bed, tired out by all the driving she'd been doing.
RK sniffed her for a moment, then jumped off the bed and went through the window.
With an agile scramble, he went inside Christian's window and landed on his bed.
RK licked his paw, radiating triumph.
Christian
Christian looked up as he heard the pad on the bed.
He made his way out into the main room, and spotted the cat.
"And what do you think you're doing?"
He headed over to the bed and sat on the side, before reaching out and scratching him behind the ears.
Spook
RK purred and butted his head against Christian's palm.
What do you think? She's sleeping. I'm bored. Amuse me.
Christian
Christian cocked his head to the side a little, then ran his fingers down RK's back. He dug his fingers in a little so it massaged the cat.
"Why the heck do you like me so much?" Christian murmured, squinting a little, "no one else seems to."
Spook
RK's eyes closed to little half slits of pleasure as he purred and kneaded the bedspread.
You underestimate yourself.
Christian
Christian stopped near RK's tail, and scratched there. He knew cats normally enjoyed it, from what he'd learnt about them. Not that he knew much.
He sighed a little, before laying back on the bed, still scratching him.
"Eighteen days to go..." he murmrued, closing his eyes.
Spook
RK lay next to Christian, tail moving lazily as he reverberated with contented purring.
He licked the teen's hand comfortingly.
What is days? Days are nothing.
Christina moved restlessly in her sleep. No...Get off.
Christian
"Man..." Christian moaned, feeling RK next to him.
"If only you knew what the hell was going on. Than again, you might take her side. Although you seem to be doing a good job of it already..."
Spook
RK eyed him with seemingly depthless golden eyes, and yawned.
I take no one's side but mine, two legger. This is all amusing enough to hold my interest.
Christina woke up with a frightened gasp, and shuddered.
She hadn't had that nightmare for a while...
Christian
Christian hesitated in his stroking, thinking he heard something from the next room.
He frowned a little, then shrugged it off.
"She needs help, she can come to me," he decided audibly.
Spook
Christina wiped her hands over her face and then lit up a cigarette. She went to the window and hung out it, smoking to calm her nerves.
RK stretched slightly and patted at Christian's hand with his paw, claws sheathed.
She's fine. Get back to what you were doing.
Christian
Christian chuckled a little at RK's patting, then went back to stroking the cat.
"So... magic cat huh?" he smirked slightly, "I'd love to know what you could do."
RK
RK made a sound very similar to a human chuckle.
Oh, wouldn't you just?
Christian
"Of course, I'd also like to see Kaleb scewered and barbecued, but I doubt I'll get that satisfaction."
He looked over towards the window and closed his eyes for a moment. He hoped Taylor was back on tour and away from the asshole.
Spook
RK purred.
Christina stubbed out the cigarette on the window ledge, and tossed the butt to the ground, head hanging.
Now she really needed to kill someone.
She went and knocked on Christian's door.
"Feel like scouting around and grabbing some lunch?"
Christian
Christian sat up.
"Gladly," he murmured, so only RK could hear.
He grabbed his cap from the head of the bed, put it on, and scratched RK again as he headed for the door.
He opened it, waited to see where RK was going, then stepped through.
Spook
RK sighed and padded after the two of them as they walked out to the car.
As if they could be trusted to look after themselves!
Christina glanced sideways at him and got into the driver's seat.
Christian
Christian got into the back seat again and closed the door, before moving into the centre seat where he had a better view.
He scratched RK behind the ears as he got in, then sighed and leant back.
"Let's go."
Spook
Christina turned the key in the ignition and pulled out of the parking lot.
RK laid his head in Christian's lap and sighed slightly.
Twoleggers. They'd be the death of him...
She drove back to where she'd seen that cafe, the Crashdown and parked on the opposite side of the street. As usual, her power was pulled in close around her, blanketing everyone but Christian.
Christian
Christian gave RK one last stroke, then got out of the car.
He looked around for a moment, then dug his hands in his pockets and followed her over.
"Picking anyone up?" he asked after a moment.
Spook
"Someone out the back," Christina said briefly.
"No one else yet..."
Liz, Michael and Maria
"Two Will Smith burgers, Michael," Liz said. "Table two."
"Whatever," Michael replied from the kitchen.
Liz shook her head with a smile and her eyes met Maria's, who just smiled back. Liz was busying herself as two more tourists entered the cafe.
Spook
Christina made sure her eyes were covered by the shades with a brief flick upwards of her hand.
They were.
She blanketed the cafe, except for Christian.
They weren't actually going to kill anyone yet, but always good to discencert them a little...
"So, you feel up to trailing the alien one home later?" Christina asked Christian in a quiet voice.
Christian
Christian grinned.
"Of course. We could do our first alley scene," he replied in his low voice, "but right now, I need food."
He looked up at the menu, consideringly.
Spook
"Peachy keen," Christina said softly.
She looked at the menu herself.
Mmm. Greasy, greasy food...and barely a salad in sight. *Yummo*.
She rolled her eyes slightly.
"If we're lucky, they'll meet some others on the way home. Two for the price of one could be fun."
Christian
"Or more," Christian shrugged.
He placed his order, then stood back.
Spook
Christina placed her own order.
"That would be good, but let's not be too greedy."
Liz
Liz trotted back to the kitchen to give Michael the order, then picked up the order for table two. Busy today.
Spook
The two hunters sat down at a table.
"So far, the only alien is still the one in the back," Christina told Christian quietly.
Christian
"Can you sense what power it has?" Christian raised an eyebrow.
"If not, I think we can find a better discussion for the moment. This place is a little echoey."
Spook
"Destruction," Christina said after a few moments of concentration.
"Anyway...new topic of conversation."
Christian
"How about... flowers? Flowers are a nice topic of conversation."
He grinned.
"Then again, so is string."
Spook
"String is useful."
A small grin quirked the corners of Christina's mouth.
"You can tie things up with it."
Liz
"Okay," Liz said, bringing over an order to Christina and Christian's table.
She repeated to them their order as she set it on the table in front of them.
Spook
"Yeah, that's it. Thanks."
Christina nodded at her briefly.
Max
Liz smiled back and went back over to the counter. Max entered the Crashdown then, and start on a stool at the counter.
"Hey," he greeted softly.
"Hey," Liz replied.
Spook
"He's one. Healer," Christina told Christian quietly.
Christian
"Great," Christian shrugged, the scowl still on his face from the string comment.
"One for me and one for you."
Spook
"You want to take the Healer?" Christina asked him.
"I can Null the Destructive."
Christian
"I think we can wait and see what the other is like before we decide on anything," Christian rubbed his chin.
He hesitated for a moment, then went back to eating.
"I wonder if they know each other..."
Max
"Table six," Michael called.
Liz sighed and moved to take the order from the kitchen.
"Busy today?" Max asked.
"Yep," Marie nodded as she walked past.
Spook
"I'd guess that they do," Christina shrugged slightly.
"Or they're at least on speaking terms."
Christian
Christian shifted slightly.
"Then let's try and figure a way for them to leave together, shall we? Saves two trips," he said, eyeing Max off.
Spook
"RK? The Healer might try to help if he thinks the cat is injured. If RK makes enough fuss, we can make them leave together," Christina suggested.
She tapped her fingernails against the table as she thought.
Christian
Christian shook his head.
"I really don't want to take the chance that it'll attract more unwanted attention. And besides,t he destructive one might not gives a rat's ass about a cat."
Spook
"True..."
Christina chewed her lip slightly, worrying it between her teeth as she thought.
"Maybe...mmm...wonder if I could get RK to thieve for me?"
Christian
"He would..." Christian looked at her sideways.
"What exactly are you referring to?"
Spook
"Keys, wallets...things that people find annoying when someone knicks off with them," Christina said thoughtfully.
Max
Maria gave Michael another order.
"Working hard?" Max teased.
"Ha ha ha," Michael replied before pulling his head out of the window and going back to cooking.
"You're so bad sometimes," Liz said, coming back to the counter.
Christian
"Wonder if they know," Christian indicated Liz and Maria by raising his eyebrows, "they seem close enough."
He shifted slightly and looked out the window.
"We just need to find ourselves an alley, and wait 'til the sun falls really."
Spook
"So, you wanna go?" Christina asked, raising an eyebrow slightly.
Christian
Christian stood.
"I'm getting antsy. Let's work it out now."
He glanced toward the door, then looked back at Max.
"If you create a distraction, I can get them both out the back."
Spook
Christina nodded, thinking quickly.
"You go then. I'm sure I can think of something..."
Max
"Did you want anything?" Liz asked.
"Hmm? Oh yeah... just a lemonade, thanks, Liz," Max replied.
"Okay."
Christian
Christian nodded to Christina.
"I'll be waiting out back."
And he left the building.
Spook
Christina got up and went out to the car.
She explained the situation to RK briefly, and the cat sighed.
"Please?"
RK nodded and flowed out of the car.
"Thanks."
She walked back inside.
RK sauntered into the cafe, ignoring everyone there regally. He went to Max and leant up, before nipping the wallet out of his pocket and then jumping over the counter into the kitchen. He grabbed another wallet that smelt like the alien on the stove and fled out the back.
Max
"Liz?"
"Yeah?"
"Did a cat just jump over the counter?"
"I think so. Mind checking it out for me?"
"Yeah, I can do that," Max said. "I have this odd idea that it took my wallet... but whoever heard of a pickpocketing cat?"
Max headed out to the kitchen.
"Anyone see a cat in here?" he asked.
"If I did it wouldn't last long, Maxwell," Micheal replied.
"Uh huh. Here kitty, kitty..."
Michael shook his head.
Spook
RK patted the wallets gently, then looked around the door edge.
"Mew?"
His golden eyes blinked placidly as he idly batted Max's wallet between his paws.
Christina leaned against the car, before she went over to cover the mouth of the alley entrance that had the door from the resteraunt backing onto it.
Max
"Ah ha! There you are," Max said, stepping outside. "And you have taken my wallet, and Michael's too by the looks of things."
He knelt down to pick them up.
RK
RK swatted them away.
He gave Max a look.
"Mew."
Then he grabbed them both and skatted.
Max
"Hey, I object," Max said, following. "Come back, cat!"
He couldn't believe he was chasing a cat who had stolen his wallet.
Christian
Christian had made it to the alley behind the Crashdown, and leant back against a wall folding his arms.
He heard a bit of a commotion, and smirked as he pictured RK causing trouble.
Spook
RK spun and watched Max for a moment, wallets dangling from his mouth.
Two leggers could be so odd about their possessions.
He lifted his head, and then ran to where Christian was, dropped the wallets at his feet, then leapt for the wall. He crouched there, blinking slightly.
Christina finished her cigarette and dropped the butt on the ground, grinding it out with the toe of her boot.
Christian
Christian stood up when he spotted the cat, then bent down to pick up the wallets.
"You weird cat," he shook his head.
He looked around for a moment, then waited.
Max
Max popped his head out around the corner.
"Hey..." he said slowly to the guy standing there with the cat. "Uhh, can I have my wallet back? And Michael's too?"
Christian
Christian raised an eyebrow.
"Oh sorry, are these yours?" he almost smirked.
He looked him up and down.
"If... Michael, wants his wallet back, he can always come and get it himself."
Max
"Michael is working," Max replied.
He stepped over and held out his hand.
"Can you please give them back?"
Christian
Christian made a quick check that no one was around.
"And why would I want to do that, alien?"
He opened one of the wallets. Seeing a photo ID of Max, he ventured further.
Max
Max decided it would be safer not to react to the alien comment.
"Because I asked you nicely?" he replied.
Who was this guy?
Christian
"And since when has that gotten anyone anywhere?"
Christian pulled out his ID, checking out the address. No doubt his family were probably aliens too.
He sighed a little. He looked around again, before moving his sunglasses onto his head.
Max
"You'd be surprised where it can get you. Now would you stop going through my things and give them back?"
Max stepped over to take the wallets.
Christian
"Ah ah..." Christian held a finger up, raising his eyebrows.
He held Max's feet in place with his telekinesis.
"Why should I bother giving them back when you won't be needing them after tonight anyway?"
Max
Max's eyebrows went up.
"And why won't I be needing them?"
Liz walked out the back. Max was taking a while...
"Max?"
Christian
Christian's eyes shot to Liz.
"Does she know?" he smirked a little, "if she doesn't, I'm sure she can be educated."
With a flick of his wrist, Max had his back to the wall. He took hold of Liz as well, and held her mouth shut so she couldn't cry out or anything.
"And you won't be needing it..." Christian began making his way over to Max, "because you sir, are going to die tonight."
Max
Liz's yelp was muffled to a mumble. Max attempted to struggle, but found not only couldn't he move, but he also couldn't use his power.
This was not good.
Christian
Christian chuckled slightly.
"Allow me to introduce myself. The name's Christian. I was brought up by the Spider, if you've heard of him..."
His eyes darted to Liz, wondering where Christina was.
Spook
RK dropped from the wall as Christina walked up, having heard the conversation and deducing that Christian had things well under control.
"So, we got two. One of whom we wanted, and the other who's just like a bonus prize," Christina drawled.
RK twined through her legs and Christina bent slightly to pet his head.
Max
"Leave Liz alone," Max scrowled. "She hasn't done anything."
Damn it, why wasn't his power working?
Christian
"But why?" Christian tilted his head slightly.
"Women are so much more fun to play with. For me anyway."
Max
Max glowered.
"Don't you dare touch her."
Meanwhile, Michael had been a little miffed about Liz just disappearing out the back. Max could take care of himself. He trotted upstairs a bit (not too far, he didn't want Mr Parker to catch him, seeing as the Parkers lived right above their cafe) and peered out the window, only to see Max being thrown against the wall. But being a naturally paranoid type about alien hunters, Christian and Christina's faces were firmly implanted in his mind. DIscovering his Destruction wasn't working, he ran back down stairs and grabbed a container of hot oil. Fortunately, none of the other cooks noticed and he hurribed back upstairs (being careful not to spill any on himself), opened the window and the the oil out.
All over Christian.
He would have liked to have gotten Christina as well, but there was only so much oil.
Christian
"$#!+!" Christian cussed, releasing his hold on Max and Liz.
Instead, he used his telekinesis to lift the oil into a globe - his body shaking slightly - then sent it back up and into the window.
Max
Michael ducked to the side just in time. He growled to himself. Max ran for Liz, grabbed her hand and started running for the back door.
Christian
Christian continued to curse as he threw his sunglasses off his head. He spotted a nearby tap and sent the water running as he took off he jacket.
He made his way over and began to wash the oil off himself.
Spook
Christina petted RK's head as she watched Christian, thoughtful.
Hmm.
Max
Max snatched up the wallets which Christian had dropped, then closed the door behind him. Liz made for the phone.
"What's that YIRAAS emergency number?" she asked.
"Already calling," Michael replied, mobile phone to his ear.
CHristian
Christian managed to get most of the oil off him and from his clothes, then slammed his back against the wall and slid to the ground.
He rubbed his eyes for a moment, not even bothering to look up at Christina. Why the hell hadn't she gone after them? Some alien hunter...
Spook
Christina watched him for a moment silently, slowly running her fingers through RK's fur.
"You'll need to get cleaned up."
She turned and started walking towards the car.
Max
"Okay," said Michael. "They'll be here soon."
"Max... maybe you should leave Roswell," Liz said quietly. "I mean, you are the Sem King. Or at least in this solar system."
"I'm not going anywhere without you," Max said firmly.
"Aww," Michael mocked.
Christian
"What the $#!+ do you think I was just doing?" Christian murmured under his breath.
He sat still for a moment, looking up and down the laneway.
Finally, he knew he had to stay with Christina. He stood and retrieved his sunglasses from the ground, then began to follow her back to the car.
Spook
Christina sat in the car, smoking in contemplation.
He'd probably be pissed at her because he let those aliens get away, and she didn't lift a finger. Screw him. A hunter's loyalty was to themselves.
RK leapt into the car, crying slightly.
Christian
Christian stalked over to the car and opened the back door.
He got in and closed it, then leant back into the seat.
"Let's just get the $#!+ out of her. They've probably called the $#! +ing authorities."
Spook
"As you say," Christina said, putting the car into gear.
RK looked at Christian, then back at Christina. He hissed at her.
