10 October 2003 - Do You See A Single Tear?

Nessa

Faith and Xander

Xander walked into the kitchen carrying a box which looked alarmingly familiar to Faith.

"So, what's this?"

"It's a box," Faith replied, barely looking up, not really wanting to look at him. Not after she'd been with Zac. She continued sharpening her knife.

"Presents from Zac?"

"Yeah."

"So..."

"So what?"

"You going to explain?"

Faith put the knife down, and looked at Xander. "No. Are you going to explain why you went rifling through my things to find that?"

"You shouldn't have hidden this from me."

"And you shouldn't be going through my stuff," Faith shot back.

"Maybe if you talked to me, I wouldn't have to resort to snooping!"

"You wanna talk? Fine! Let's talk! What do you want to know? How about... I slept with Zac when I went to New York last... or maybe... when he came to pick up the couch again, I kissed him! Or what about this, and this is the icing on the cake, how about that I still love him!" Faith folded her arms across her chest, breathing heavily.

Xander stayed silent, then finally spoke. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Xander, believe it or not, I didn't want to hurt you." Faith sighed. "Look... maybe..."

"Yeah, I know. It's ridiculous, you know."

"What?" Faith looked confused.

"You don't love me. You love Zac. And I don't love you. I love Anya."

Faith let out a laugh. "We're both pathetic."

"I know. Come here." Xander hugged Faith and kissed the top of her head. "Friends?"

"Definitely," Faith replied. "Now, get out of my house."

"Not a problem." Xander grinned goofily and lifted his keys off the table. He turned around to look at Faith again. "Good luck with the Zac thing."

"And you with the Anya thing."
